Fake-Survivor 120

Chapter 120

Seems the “Amiras Merchant Guild” lent a hand to Iris’s trip to Dungeon City.

I managed to meet Ms. Casa, the guild’s head, and reunite her with Iris in a secluded warehouse.

Everything was going smoothly until… a crucial question arose before we could get down to business.

”Um, so, is Ms. Marisa your mother?”

 Yep.

Because Ms. Casa had called the shop clerk, Ms. Marisa, her mother, we had to figure out who the real guild head was.

Their interaction suggested a good relationship, so it probably wouldn’t matter who we asked about the main topic… but we needed to discuss future plans, and I wanted the real head head around.

 ”Yes, that’s right.”

Without hesitation, Ms. Casa confirmed it.

 So, I pressed further.

”Then, who’s *really* the shop head?”

 ”I am.”

She answered just as casually as before.

Apparently, her father, the previous head, passed away from an illness, and when it came time to choose a successor, Ms. Casa was the obvious choice.

She’d been helping her father since she was a kid and had a knack for it, eventually becoming an assistant to the head.

 Iris chimed in here.

”She started coming around to help out, and she got close to my older sister and me, since we were around the same age. Especially my sister.”

Ah… so that’s why Iris told Ms. Casa about her situation, and she agreed to help.

Considering the risks of being found out, it might have been better to just look for a magic item to dispel the curse, but her desire to heal Iris’s sister must have taken precedence.

 ”I see… So, the ‘Marisa’ thing…”

”It’s a work thing. I’m the head, and she’s my subordinate.”

Seems she adjusts her demeanor accordingly.

I asked more, and it turned out their interactions in the shop were for show,

”I apologize if I caused any offense.”

 She bowed her head.

My top priority is completing our objective, and I did get to, uh, *appreciate* the lovely Ms. Marisa’s… assets.

And now, I’m treated to the sight of Ms. Casa’s bouncing chest as she bows her head.

Any discomfort I might have felt has long since vanished.

Though, to be honest, it wasn’t *that* uncomfortable to begin with.

”It’s fine. I assume that was just for show, anyway.”

Ms. Casa made a slightly troubled face at my words.

 ”Y-yes… well…”

 ”…”

A brief silence settled between us.

”…Is Ms. Marisa always like that?”

 ”…Yes.”

”So, leading men on and then denying them… that’s not just an act?”

”It’s true. My mother is skilled at negotiations of that sort… though it’s not a frequent occurrence, and she always makes sure it can be explained away as a misunderstanding.”

From her expression, it was clear she was genuinely troubled.

I turned to Iris, and spoke to Ms. Casa on behalf of her sister.

”You should be careful. You can be hated for things you haven’t even done.”

”You’re right. And there are future considerations as well.”

Sensing who I was referring to, she agreed, and the conversation shifted from Ms. Marisa to the main topic.

”So, about those future considerations… have you heard anything about my sister since then?”

Iris asked Ms. Casa about her sister’s current situation.

”I haven’t been informed about Alicia-sama. There have been transactions, but I haven’t had the opportunity to meet her. After sending off Irisiera-sama, the atmosphere in the mansion has become even darker…”

 ”Eh?”

 ”Ah.”

Iris and I spoke at the same time.

My voice expressed confusion over the unknown name, but Iris’s voice was filled with guilt.

Judging by the flow of the conversation…

”So, Irisiera is your real name?”

 ”Y-yes…”

When I asked, Iris… no, Irisiera, answered with a troubled look.

She looked apologetic, but I’d expected her to be using a false name since she was hiding her identity.

I wasn’t all that surprised, and I didn’t feel deceived either.

But… although she hadn’t claimed any title in the letter addressed to Ms. Casa, the signature at the end should have read Iris.

So, Ms. Casa can’t really determine that Irisiera wrote that letter, right?

When I voiced my doubts about that, she responded like this.

”Ah, we decided beforehand that I’d use the name Iris for contact.”

 Yeah, that makes sense.

Since she intended to disguise her identity from the start, it’s only natural she’d decide on an alias in advance.

As I nodded in understanding, Irisiera bowed her head.

”I’m sorry for keeping it from you.”

”No, I figured it was an alias, so I’m not bothered by that.”

”You’re not bothered by that… does that mean there’s something else?”

 ”…”

Maybe it was the way I phrased it, but both Irisiera and Ms. Casa looked tense.

They seemed to think there was some major issue… but to those 2, I said:

”What should I call you from now on?”

 ”””…Haaah…””

Both of them sighed in relief.

* * *

After a brief discussion, we decided to keep calling her Iris.

Apparently, those close to her called her “Siera,” but since Iris was derived from her real name and she was used to it from her life in Dungeon City, it stuck.

What bothered me was that the Princess Charlotte had confidently stated that Iris was a noble.

Even if the alias was derived from her real name, it seemed unlikely she’d figure it out just from a similar name.
