Chapter 122-2

To the two of them asking, I pointed to the corner of the room… and there, a wooden box appeared.
Hmph.
””Huh!?””
To the surprised 2, I went over to the wooden box and opened the lid for them to see.
”Actually, I made it invisible and carried it the whole time. It would’ve been a pain if they checked it in a town along the way, and I kept it a secret because you might have shown it on your faces.”
Click.
””This is…!?””
As they came closer, listening to my words, the two of them looked inside the wooden box… and it was filled with a box full of ten-thousand-yen bills.
Of course, I just made this right now.
If I had kept it invisible the whole time, I would have been constantly using up magic power.
But, if I didn’t pretend it was like that, they’d find out I could create things with magic, so I kept it a secret from the two of them… and then Iris came and hugged me with tears in her eyes.
”!”
Squish.
”Whoa, what’s wrong?”
To me asking that, Iris pushed her body against me, and answered.
”The Magic Armor keeps using up magic, right? Magic is like your lifeline, and I’m happy you’d go that far to help me. If it was somewhere else, I’d be pushing you down… but I’ll just have to be satisfied with this for now. Chu, Chuuu…♡”
After saying that, Iris gave me a long kiss, and Seria was watching with a smile.
* * *
After a while, Iris changed into a dress that wasn’t flashy, but had some nice details.
With her hair down and a little makeup, she was sitting at the table with her parents, who were happy she was safe.
Me and Seria were watching them from a place where there was no contact with people, while being invisible.
As the meal and conversation went on, Iris’s father asked her, as if he was checking something.
”Well, anyway, I’m glad you’re safe. So… did you find what you were looking for?”
”That…”
What they were looking for was probably a way to remove the curse on Ms. Aeris.
Iris hesitated in answering that question, because she couldn’t tell them about us.
Seeing that, Iris’s father took it as she hadn’t found it, and shook his head and smiled at her.
”Nah, it’s okay. Even if there was a way, with those arms… We have the broken parts stored, but even if the curse is lifted, there’s no guarantee they’ll go back to normal. If we wanted to fix the lost arms, we’d need a really high-level Cleric. Those kinds of Clerics are like, the Saintesses, and, well, our family, right now…”
Iris’s dad isn’t super strict, but he’s a serious, no-nonsense kind of guy.
He said that sounding kinda down, but something in his words caught Iris’s attention.
”What do you mean by ‘right now’? I get that it’s tough for a family like the Viscount family, but…”
So this place was the Viscount family’s place, huh? I never really paid attention, so this is news to me.
Ignoring me, Iris’s dad, Viscount Gavrett, answers her.
”Oh… I hadn’t told Siera yet, but since it’s all off now, I guess I can tell you.”
”?”
Iris looks confused at those words.
Did her family have secrets they weren’t even telling her?
While I’m thinking that… Viscount definitely dropped some serious info.
”Actually… Aeris had a marriage proposal from the Third Prince of our country.”
”Eeeeh!?”
””Wha!?””
Iris yells in surprise, but she also manages to hold back the surprised noises we were about to make.
”W-when did this start?”
”A few years ago. Remember when we all went to the Royal Capital?”
”Y-yeah…”
”You guys were at some parties there, right? And there were people from the royal family there too.”
”Yeah, we said hello to them.”
Ah, so Iris really did meet royalty.
If it was a few years ago, maybe she looked a bit different then, and that’s how Dear Princess Charlotte figured out who she was.
”Yeah. And… now it’s all quiet, but Aeris was, you know… pretty lively, right? And the Third Prince, Sir Kaito, liked that about her.”
Ms. Aeris is quieter now because of the curse, which put a lot of stress on her, but apparently, she was super lively before that.
”Is that so? I didn’t know…”
”Yeah, probably. There were other choices too, and it was a secret between me and Aeris until it was official. Then, just when we got the word that it was Aeris, thanks to Sir Kaito’s strong wishes… that thing happened…”
”I see…”
After hearing the whole story, Iris and the others all looked bummed out.
Come to think of it… it was a few years ago, but I think Charlotte said she came to Dungeon City because she couldn’t move the Third Prince.
I wonder if the marriage talks were already going on back then?
Still, to be cursed right after the engagement was decided… it feels like it was done on purpose.
It seems like Iris felt the same way.
”So, the reason my sister was targeted was…”
”Because the engagement with Sir Kaito was decided. Well, maybe it was some family that was rejected before.”
Iris’s father also seems to think that Ms. Aeris was cursed to stop the engagement.
”How sneaky…”
”Totally. Well, since it was still a secret, we couldn’t openly increase Aeris’s security. We were preparing for when it was announced… but if they could move before that, whoever did it is probably someone close to the royal family.”
”Yeah. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have gotten the information so quickly.”
Hearing that, I suddenly thought of the Norland family, who seem to be aiming for the throne.
