Chapter 126
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
I went to Ms. Alicia’s room to break the petrification curse she suffered.
After Ms. Elina ordered everyone nearby to clear out, I entered Ms. Alicia’s room and met the Cleric, Ms. Hilda, who had been called by Ms. Elina.
Then, to perform the curse-breaking, I was told to meet the person behind the folding screen──Ms. Alicia herself.
And then…
”Ah! You’re the one who’s gonna break this curse!?”
She spoke from behind the screen, like she’d been waiting so long and was desperate to hear it.
Even though she only heard about breaking the curse from Ms. Elina this morning, it must’ve felt like a long wait to her.
Ms. Elina gently scolded Ms. Alicia.
”Alicia, I get how you feel, but calm down.”
”Ah! … S-sorry. I’m Alicia, eldest daughter of the Viscount Gavrett family.”
”I’m Fuji. Don’t worry about it.”
After she switched to a proper noble attitude, I looked at the things on both sides of her.
They were… arms made out of stone.
”Are those… yours?”
I thought about asking in a roundabout way, but since I needed to be sure, I asked straight up to avoid any misunderstandings.
Ms. Alicia answered with a sad look.
”Yes. They’re my arms. I did something stupid…”
”…”
Hearing that, the other women looked very worried.
I wanted to lighten the mood, but since this might hurt or cause bleeding, I couldn’t let anyone relax.
Ms. Alicia’s broken arms were here because I told Ms. Elina to prepare them.
It seems they had been stored somewhere else to prevent further damage.
The reason I had them ready was to check if the petrified arms would turn back into real arms when the curse was broken, and if they would go back to where they belonged.
I’m hoping her arm just goes back to normal… but anyway, I gotta explain some warnings before the curse breaking.
”You might’ve already heard this, but even if the curse is lifted, the broken part might not go back to your arm. If that happens, you might still feel pain or bleeding there…”
”Yeah, I heard. But that’s why Mother called Ms. Hilda, right? Even if my arm doesn’t heal, as long as my leg gets better, it’ll be better than now… I’ll do my best to bear it.”
Ms. Alicia answers with a hard face, probably thinking about the awful pain that could come.
Seeing that, Ms. Hilda the Cleric gets ready with healing magic, trying to calm her down.
”Don’t worry. As soon as the curse is gone, I’ll use healing magic, so the bleeding and pain will be stopped.”
Ms. Hilda holds a staff in one hand, and a small opened flask in the other, telling Ms. Alicia this to make her feel safe.
That little flask looks exactly like the one Seria has, so it’s probably filled with holy water.
On the side table, there are about 5 more of the same flasks opened, ready for several rounds of healing magic.
Well… if worst comes to worst, if bleeding or pain still happens after Seria’s “Commercial Recovery,” I’m thinking of using a medicine I made with “Imitation.”
It’d be weird if I didn’t ask for payment for that, but in that case, I’ll just accept whatever’s offered.
* * *
When everything’s ready, I have Ms. Alicia roll up her sleeve, exposing her petrified arm, then I check one last time.
”Well then… can I start?”
”Y-yeah… shhh… haaah… yes, please.”
”You ready over there?”
”Anytime.”
Ms. Alicia answers with her mind set, and Ms. Hilda is ready to use her healing magic at any moment.
In front of worried Iris and Ms. Elina… I take out a talisman from my bag that says “Good Health,” and touch it to Ms. Alicia’s arm.
Swish, puff… BLAAM!
”!!”
Just like that, the talisman vanished, and a bright light burst out right after.
When it settled down… her arm had turned back to human skin, and even the broken-off limb had reappeared.
The petrified arm stayed just like that, not moving at all from where it had been left.
The result left everyone shocked and frozen in place.
Sss… sss…
In the middle of that, Ms. Alicia came back and carefully touched her own arms and legs, confirming their existence… and then suddenly, big tears started spilling out.
”Ah… ah… aaaaaaaah!”
”Alicia!”
”Big sister!”
As the restored limbs were seen, Ms. Alicia cried out loud, and Ms. Elina and Iris rushed over to embrace her.
”U… uuuu…”
”Aaah… it’s good… gulp”
Ms. Elina and Iris also shed tears like Ms. Alicia.
Ms. Alicia had almost given up on breaking the curse, it must have been so painful that she would rather have chopped off the petrified arm.
If she had been clumsy, she might have even cut off her leg.
Her family, Ms. Elina and Iris, must have been in pain too, and their joy from being released from that despair seemed just as great, if not greater than hers.
So I let them enjoy that joy, and for a while, I just left them be.
