Chapter 149
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
I was curious about Arisa’s attitude towards Linda, so I asked her.
”I can’t tell anyone except Iris and Seria… I’ll tell you later,” she replied quietly.
That was all she said.
It was likely for a confidential reason, and she probably didn’t want outsiders to know.
Tina and the others were in a soundproof area, and since Arisa and the others knew that, it shouldn’t concern them.
The reason for this is that if they could infer from the direction of the sound that they were floating in the air rather than being transported on the ground, it would be problematic.
If that were the case, the floating wooden boxes would be hard to miss, and without any mention of it, it would raise questions about why they hadn’t been noticed.
Well, this matter isn’t urgent, so for now, I should take care of Tina and the others.
* * *
Thus, upon arriving at the apartment where my room is located, I headed straight to my room.
I thought it would be better to report my return to manager Ms. Sakura, but I decided to skip it since things had been a bit awkward just before leaving the town.
Creak.
”Oh, so this is Koji’s room,” Iris said with some interest, peeking in.
Her comment elicited a reaction from Arisa and Seria.
”Oh, you’ve never been here before?” Seria asked.
”Now that you mention it, this is my first time too,” Arisa replied, her voice slightly puzzled.
”Ah, I hadn’t told you,” I admitted.
Since I was playing the role of a fictional character named “Mose,” I hadn’t given them the address to avoid revealing my identity, so they wouldn’t come to “Koji’s” room.
The only ones who knew were Ms. Monoka, who manages the orphanage, and people related to Ms. Wendy from “Hooters.”
It would be problematic to bring Tina and the others here, but it was the safest place to take them out without being seen by others.
Well, since the matter with “Gem Snake” has been settled for now and Mose was supposed to leave the town, I shouldn’t have to worry about it.
”Why? Is it because you want to bring other girls here?” Arisa asked, giving me a suspicious look.
It’s more that I don’t want to bring anyone in… but since this is a confidential matter, I can’t discuss the reasons with Tina and the others.
So I said that it would be after I dealt with Tina and the others, and I deactivated the transparency of the wooden box they were in and opened the lid.
Pop.
”Huh, where is this…?” Tina asked, blinking.
”It’s inside a room. Whose room is it?” Rosie followed up, her tone cautious.
”This is my room in Dungeon City,” I explained. “I thought it would be bad to involve others.”
”Ah, that makes sense,” Tina replied with a small nod, though her expression was a little apologetic—probably because she understood the awkwardness of our being pursued.
”Then, wouldn’t it be a bother to Mr. Koji?” Rosie asked, looking guilty.
”Yes, that’s true,” Tina agreed, her voice quiet.
”Guh,” I muttered.
The two of them were at a loss for words after I clearly stated it was a bother.
They seemed to be aware that it was only natural to be told that, considering they had insisted on accompanying me to Dungeon City.
However… I appreciated their determination, as they came to inform the lord about being pursued and even seemed willing to use their bodies if necessary.
To those two, I said firmly, “So… let’s quickly fulfill our objective.”
”Y-Yes!” both girls answered in sync, straightening up.
I took the two I had brought out of the wooden box along with Iris, and we headed to the “Silver Orchid” office—bringing a total of five beautiful women with me.
Tina and the others were hiding their faces, but even so, the men’s sharp gazes toward me made it clear they could tell the group was made up of women based on their figures alone.
That said, it seemed that my connection to “Silver Orchid” was somewhat known, as we arrived at our destination without being accosted along the way.
”Oh, you’ve returned,” said a receptionist from inside.
”Welcome back,” another chimed in.
Upon entering, I was greeted with such remarks and immediately requested to meet with Shirley, also known as Dear Princess Charlotte.
I thought it would be difficult to get that request through since it was so sudden, but they were able to contact her to see if permission could be granted.
”For a company composed entirely of women… how should I put it, the response is quite soft, isn’t it?” I remarked.
”Yes, that’s right,” Iris replied thoughtfully. “Since it’s all women, it would imply that they are excluding men, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the treatment toward Mr. Koji, being a man, was strict…”
The one who answered next came from upstairs—the owner of the noisy footsteps descending rapidly.
Thud thud thud thud… thud!
”Koji!” came a loud voice.
Bam!
”Whoa!”
”Mwah♡”
”Mmm!”
”Ah!?” Arisa blurted out in surprise.
Ferris jumped down from the stairs and leaped at me as soon as she landed.
She naturally went in for a kiss, which made Arisa raise her voice in shock.
Ferris is the representative of “Silver Orchid” along with Princess Charlotte; if the princess handles the administrative side, Ferris is in charge of the field.
This is because Ferris is actually a dragon, and one could say she secures “Silver Orchid’s” position using her otherworldly powers.
The reason she is so fond of me is that I helped her when she was manipulated by a company called “Gem Snake” and was almost used for a coup against the throne.
Well… it might also be partly because of her relationship with her sister, Lunamaria, who is also a dragon, and I was able to share my secrets with her just like I did with her sister.
The reason there’s no hesitation up to this point is probably because the people I belong to know about our relationship.
We were doing it in her room inside this building.
”Phew♪ Welcome back♡” Ferris said cheerfully, her lips still curled in a teasing smile.
”I’m back. That was sudden,” I replied, brushing off the impact.
”Well, I had to wait for two months, so it can’t be helped, right?”
I’ve heard that dragons have long lifespans, and for her, it shouldn’t feel like that long a time… but I can’t say that here, so I moved the conversation along.
”So, how did you notice I was here?”
”I was in Shirley’s room. Oh, and I was told to bring you along,” she said nonchalantly.
”Is that so? Well, I want to take two people I’ve just met.”
I introduced Arisa and Tina, who were supposed to be meeting for the first time, and pointed to them as I said this.
Even though she’s hiding her identity, she’s still a princess, so it wouldn’t be good if something happened.
I thought that, and Ferris answered immediately.
”I’ve heard that too. If anything happens, Koji will take responsibility, so it’s fine.”
”…I see.” I replied, a bit stiffly.
I was anxious about what kind of responsibility I’d have to take, but it seemed she thought that if something happened, I’d stop it.
Well, I suppose it’s also because Ferris is here.
”Alright, let’s go.”
Grabs
And so… I, with Ferris linking arms with me, and Iris and the others following, were guided to Princess Charlotte’s office.
* * *
Knock knock
”I’ve brought them!” Ferris called cheerfully.
”Come in,” came the immediate reply from within.
Ferris opened the door without hesitation.
Seated behind the desk inside was Charlotte, clad in full armor. She rose to greet us with calm authority.
”Welcome… Mr. Koji. It’s been a while,” she said, her voice composed but holding a trace of something more.
”Thank you. It has been a while,” I replied politely.
However, I couldn’t help noticing the slight pause in her gaze—she was looking past me, at someone behind.
Maybe it’s her royal training. Subtle reactions like that could easily go unnoticed by most, but I caught it. Her response was refined, barely perceptible.
The next one to enter behind me was Arisa.
As far as I knew, Arisa had met several members of the royal family back in the capital. But Charlotte shouldn’t be one of them, at least not here in Dungeon City.
So that means… she might’ve realized. Maybe she compared Arisa to Iris and picked up on the similarities.
They don’t share many obvious traits, but there are resemblances if you look closely.
That slight reaction earlier… was she wondering why Arisa was here?
Well, I can ask her about it later.
For now, I focused on introducing Arisa and Tina—who were meeting Charlotte for the first time under a different name.
”This is Arisa, who will be accompanying us from now on. And this is Tina and Rosie, who came to ask you for a favor,” I said, gesturing toward each of them in turn.
”I’m Arisa,” Arisa said with a short bow.
”I’m Tina,” Tina followed.
”I’m Rosie,” added Rosie with a nod.
”…I’m Shirley. Nice to meet you,” said Arisa once more, this time with her alias, after the others had introduced themselves.
Charlotte said nothing, but her gaze lingered on Arisa, clearly still pondering something. Though she didn’t voice her concern, it showed in her expression.
Once the greetings were out of the way, the mood shifted toward the main reason Tina and the others were here.
”So, I’m not here to say goodbye today, but…” Tina began, a hint of tension in her tone.
”Yes, you have a request.” Charlotte nodded, folding her arms. “We do owe you quite a bit. We’ll try to help however we can, but please understand—this is solely as a favor to you, not your group.”
”Yes, I understand. But I haven’t been told the details yet, so I can’t really say much.”
”I see. Well, let’s hear what you have to say first,” Charlotte replied, gesturing for us to continue.
Encouraged by her openness, I stepped forward to explain.
”They want to meet the lord of this place.”
”The lord?” Charlotte repeated, frowning slightly. “What is the reason for that?”
She looked toward Tina and the others. Tina shook her head slowly.
”I’m sorry. I can’t disclose that here… but I can assure you that it’s extremely important,” she said, her tone resolute.
Charlotte narrowed her eyes.
”And what if it turns out not to be?”
”Then you can do whatever you wish,” Tina answered without hesitation.
”…”
The room went quiet.
Charlotte studied Tina’s expression carefully. No trace of deceit. She nodded, seemingly satisfied by the sincerity in Tina’s eyes.
”Very well. I will pass the message along. But I won’t allow a single weapon to be brought in. Of course, there will be a full body search. If anything that could be used as a weapon is found—consider that your last opportunity.”
The lord of Dungeon City held a unique position—trusted directly by the royal family and responsible for this precious territory.
Because of the dungeon’s high-value materials and the profits they generated, the royal family had designated this land under special governance.
To reduce risk and keep everything under tight control, the territory had been limited to just this city.
That’s why the lord of Dungeon City, while not on the same level as royalty, held immense political weight. Causing harm to someone like that… wasn’t even an option.
In response to Charlotte’s stern warning, Tina gave a confident reply.
”Understood. I wouldn’t mind being n*ked, as long as it doesn’t come off as rude.”
Her tone was unwavering. The seriousness in her voice made me pause—but I wasn’t the only one. Charlotte, too, nodded with approval.
”…Very well,” she said quietly.
”Thank you,” Tina replied, bowing her head.
With that, the conversation came to a close. The mood in the room softened slightly, and the topic shifted to logistics.
”So, I would like your contact information, to notify you of the outcome…” Charlotte paused, then asked, “Where will you be staying?”
Tina answered immediately, without even blinking.
”Yes, to Mr. Koji’s room♪”
””Huh?”” I blurted out in unison with Ferris and Arisa, unable to hold back.
Tina smiled sweetly, but the other women immediately turned their sharp gazes on me.
It was as if they were trying to decide how to interpret that answer. And I… had absolutely no idea how to defend myself.
