Chapter 157 The First Quest of ‘Famière’
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
After submitting the clan formation documents, Karina and Gièze quickly grabbed a monster-hunting request from the board and handed it in at the reception. It was a quest to take down over 10 goblins.
”I’ll join you.”
”Then I’ll go too. Aluda is busy maintaining gear at Hiro’s, and I’ll leave the shop to Eluda!”
Dorothy and Meluda raised their hands.
”Guess we have no choice… Eluda has got stuff to make, so Eluda can’t come… Meluda, go ahead.”
Eluda reluctantly nodded.
”Is 4 of you enough? I can tag along if you want.”
”We’ll be fine.”
In response to Liz’s concern, Dorothy smiled back.
”…No, just in case. I’ll go.”
Asuka stepped forward from behind Liz.
”We formed the clan to prepare for ‘just in case,’ right?”
Asuka sent Dorothy an awkward smile.
”…That’s true. Can I count on you?”
”Got it. ──Gorge, we’ll probably be back tomorrow. If you get lonely, you can hang out at Hiroya’s.”
”Understood! I’ll be careful!”
”Alright, Dorothy, I’m leaving the leadership to you this time. Let’s head back to prepare… how about we gather at our place?”
* * *
We returned to the mansion, and while helping Dorothy get ready, Karina and Gièze showed up in a carriage after a while, all geared up.
”Ms. Dorothy, I’m counting on you.”
Gièze bowed her head to Dorothy, who was mounted on Kuri the horse.
”Likewise.”
Dorothy smiled from atop her horse, dressed in her cloak. Soon after, Meluda arrived on her horse as well, equipped with a hand axe at her waist and a large shield on her back.
”Meluda, aren’t you using a hammer?”
Meluda smiled brightly at me as I looked up.
”After we challenged the dungeon with Hiro and the others, I talked with Eluda. Meluda thought maybe Meluda and the others could contribute more by taking on the ‘Tank’ role and focusing on defense.”
I see. They been protecting Kazumi and Rena all this time.
”This, this many members… um, it feels really, really reassuring.”
Sister Karina pokes her head out from the carriage, looking around at everyone.
”Be careful too, Sister Karina.”
At my words, Sister Karina nods, her face turning bright red.
”Oh, right… I was the big sister… um, um, Hiroya…”
”?”
”I’m going, going now!”
”…it’s kind of annoying, you know… I’m jealous…”
Liz mutters quietly.
”What? You want to be my big sister, Liz? …Not satisfied being my girlfriend?”
”…that’s not it, but…”
Liz pouting is cute.
* * *
”Okay, be careful out there. Just remember, don’t push yourselves too hard.”
At Liz’s words, Dorothy, Meluda, Asuka, Gièze, and Sister Karina nod.
”Wait a minuteeeeeee!”
Kazumi, Rena, and Martina come running from the entrance.
”Just in time…”
Rena gasps for breath as she hands a silver bracelet to Dorothy.
”This is the clan’s mark. Rena enchanted it, so make sure you don’t lose it.”
Saying that, Kazumi hands bracelets to Asuka and Meluda as well.
”It lets you know where everyone is. Rena worked hard to make these.”
Martina hands one to Gièze and Sister Karina.
”It’s engraved with the spirit language… ‘Famière’.”
Dorothy happily admires the bracelet on her left wrist.
”Dorothy, could you lower your face a bit?”
Kazumi says this and gives me a wink. Ah, I see what she means.
I lift Kazumi high from behind.
And then, she kissed Dorothy’s cheek as she lowered her head from the horse.
”…Thank you♡”
”Hehe, it’s a charm. Be careful, okay?”
”W-What’s that…?”
Gièze looked surprised with flushed cheeks.
”It’s a charm from our family. Kazumi’s kiss works pretty well, you know?”
”C-Can I ask for it too?”
”I want Kazumi’s charm too! Meluda wants it!”
Asuka and Meluda leaned out from the horse.
I lifted Kazumi up so the two could also receive the charm.
”Hehe, it feels nice…”
”Hehe, Meluda is happy!”
”…This is silly…”
Rena ran up next to Gièze, who was looking away at the coachman’s seat, and kissed her cheek.
”W-What are you doing?!”
”Rena’s charm works pretty well too, you know?”
”I-I want it too!”
Rena’s charm also went to Sister Karina, who leaned out from the carriage.

As we saw off the members heading out for the quest, Aluda arrived just as we entered the mansion.
”Thanks for taking care of me for the next 3 days!”
Kazumi rushed over to Aluda, who appeared at the entrance.
”Welcome, Aluda!”
”Maintenance on the gear must be tough, but do your best!”
I had some things I wanted to discuss, so I rushed over to Aluda too.
”…This is a chance for the next 3 days, okay?”
Kazumi whispered in Aluda’s ear. …I can hear you, you know?
Aluda nodded with a hot gaze, saying “Okay.”
”Ah… um, Aluda! I have something to discuss…”
”Should I step out?”
”No, Kazumi, you don’t have to be so formal.”
* * *
”A katana?”
”Yeah. I know it’s tough to make compared to other weapons…”
Liz and Martina went to the guild to recruit Noriss and Lotta. So, I brought up the idea of making a ‘Japanese sword’ with Kazumi, Rena, and Aluda.
”Looks like Grandpa’s master was a swordsmith from the East…”
”Right, it was made from tamahagane, right?”
Rena rests her chin on her hand.
”Yeah. It was high-purity iron with the right amount of carbon.”
”Grandpa said that ‘Yamikirimaru’ was forged with ‘Hihi’irokane’.”
”Hihi’irokane?”
Kazumi tilts her head at the unfamiliar word that slipped from Aluda’s mouth. It was supposedly a mythical ore in Japan…
”Rena?”
I glance at Rena.
”Yeah. It’s a rare ore found in the East. It might be hard to get…”
”I see…”
”Maybe it’s better to look for a katana itself rather than making one from scratch.”
Kazumi stands up.
”I’m going to see Ms. Sasha. She’s probably busy with the Zett Merchant Guild’s headquarters opening, so I’ll help out and ask her to look for a katana too.”
”It’s okay if it’s a bit old and damaged. I learned how to reforge from Grandpa.”
Aluda hurriedly calls out to Kazumi as she leaves the living space. Kazumi raises her hand in response and heads out.
After a while, the sound of hooves, probably Haya’s, fades away.
”Aluda, can you do it?”
”It would be a problem if something happened to ‘Yamikirimaru,’ right? That’s why Grandpa drilled it into me.”
Aluda responds with a grin, making me surprised.
”Since not many people prefer using katanas, I think there are quite a few just lying around somewhere… probably old ones though.”
”That’s true. It’s a weapon that’s only effective if you can use Eastern swordsmanship.”
Rena nods in agreement with Aluda’s opinion.
”Hiro, do you want another katana?”
”I’d like something about the size of a short dagger (tanto). Plus, I’m teaching swordsmanship to Gièze right now. I thought she might need one too.”
”Hmm… If we’re substituting with a single-edged curved sword, should Aluda make a shamshir?”
…That curved sword used in Persia.
”Can you do that?”
”Leave it to me!”
Aluda clenches her hands and strikes a pose. How cute!
”Well, for now, I’ll start with the maintenance of the armor.”
Saying that, I walked over to the weapon and armor rack set up next to the double doors leading to the backyard in the corner of the dining hall.
