Chapter 170 Simona’s Conflict and Liz’s Tactics

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 (Simona’s POV)

(The threat of the ‘Goblin Forest’ wasn’t that big after all)

The small test with ten members of the ‘Rose Hip’ clan was going smoothly, and we decided to turn back about halfway to the dungeon.

”I heard ogres appear near the dungeon… but that’s not a problem for us.”

”Yeah! So da guild dropped some intel on us ’bout trolls and them orc hoards in da boss room on floor two. We gotta come up wit’ a solid plan fer dat.”

Helena, the sub-leader, rode up beside me and started talking, so I responded casually. But honestly, what I’m really worried about is the boss on the third floor, the ‘Greater Demon.’

I heard that Hiroya, the swordsman from the ‘Famière’ clan, took it down, but I have no idea what kind of boss will be there next.

Luckily, the morale of our clan members is high. After we return to the village and recharge in the hot springs, it’ll be time for a dungeon attack.

”Leader! We have a report from the scouts ahead!”

Another sub-leader, Frieda, came galloping back on her horse.

 ”Wass dat? Enemy or somethin’?”

”No, it’s not. It seems there are about a dozen soldiers stationed up ahead.”

 ”…A military force… Wha’ happened?”

I wanted to check it out directly, so I left the other members here with Helena in charge and had Frieda guide me to the scouts’ location.

* * *

Sure enough, there were about a dozen soldiers surrounding a giant tree. I urged my horse forward to get closer to them.

”Wassup, looks like things got real intense… somethin’ go down?”

 ”…Who are you?”

”I’m Simona Schmidt, da boss lady of da ‘Rose Hip’ adventurer crew, rank A.”

I said that and showed my adventurer card.

 ”…An A-rank adventurer, huh? Wait a moment.”

The soldier who responded ran off toward the giant tree.

”…Simona, over there… it looks like the entrance to the dungeon.”

”Yeah, fo shoo. It’s a hollow in da tree, but it’s whoppin’ big, fuh real.”

While I was quietly chatting with Frieda, a woman in a red robe approached us from the cave.

”You’re from the ‘Rose Hip’ clan in the fortress city of Mundo, right? …Are you the leader?”

”Ay, I’m Simona Schmidt, da head honcho here… And who’s dis?”

”I’m Milia Altner, the headmaster of Razia Village.”

 ”…!”

 ”Milia… Altner… ‘Sage’ Lady Milia!”

Frieda next to me hurriedly dismounted.

Hearing the woman’s name, I was so shocked that I couldn’t move for a moment, but Frieda’s voice snapped me back to reality, and I jumped off my horse.

”What a huge disrespect! …I din’ know I wasa goin’ wit’ dat ‘Sage’ Lady Milia t’ing…”

Frieda and I knelt side by side. The scout girl behind us seemed to be hurriedly kneeling as well.

”Lift your heads. You don’t need to be so formal…”

 ’Sage’ Lady Milia chuckled softly.

”I thought there’s a whole lotta soldiers hangin’ out here, so I figured I’d scope it out…”

”If you’re the leader of ‘Rose Hip,’ I guess it’s okay to say this?”

I lifted my head and looked up at Lady Milia. She smiled brightly and crouched down to whisper in my ear.

”…A new dungeon has been discovered. Its scale is likely──.”

Lady Milia pulled back from my ear and looked me straight in the eye.

”──It seems to be the size of a major labyrinth located in the capital of the Welnia Empire.”

 ””!””

A shiver ran through my entire body. My pores opened up, and even though the surroundings were a snowy landscape, I was sweating profusely.

 ”The Welnia Labyrinth…!”

”Well, the clan that discovered it, Liz-Liz and her team, has the first right to enter, so they’ll return and report back── then it will be opened to other adventurers.”

(Liz… so Weissman from Famière’s clan.)

”Anyway, this is going to be the entrance… We need to put up a fence around here and build a place for security to stay──there’s a lot to do, you know. I have to cast a permanent magic barrier to keep monsters away.”

 ”Oh, I see… sorry to interrupt you…”

”Don’t worry about it. Once the dungeon opens up, adventurers will flood in, so I’ll make sure to strengthen the defenses here before that.”

After bowing our heads once more, both me and Frieda got back up and mounted our horses. The scout girl behind us followed our lead.

”Well then, excuse us. …So, ’bout dis new dungeon, we ain’t sayin’ nothin till it’s official”

 ”Yeah. Thanks.”

We bowed our heads again from atop our horses and left the giant tree outpost behind.

* * *

”I can’t believe a new dungeon’s poppin’ up like Welnia Great Labyrinth? That’s straight crazy…”

 ”That’s really surprising…”

But this is a troubling issue for our clan, ‘Rose Hip.’

Originally, our goal was that ‘Welnia Great Labyrinth.’ However, the Welnia Empire has a strong sl*ve system, and if a foreign woman tries to enter, she could easily be turned into a sl*ve through force, traps, or manipulation.

Because of that, we, being all women, huddled together to form a strong clan, aiming to challenge the Great Labyrinth in the Welnia Empire. But now…

(We don’t gotta risk gettin’ our selves caught up in some crazy foreign country… there’s a sick dungeon right here in Razia Village, same scale…)

We could conquer an S-class dungeon and make a name for ourselves before tackling the Welnia Great Labyrinth. …Maybe we don’t need to take the long way around.

(I gotta take ma time to think dis through when I get back…)

Anyway, we hurried back to Razia Village.

 (Liz’s POV)

”Yeah. This has a pretty good feel to it.”

After breakfast, I distributed the Black Bows that Eluda delivered and taught Noriss, Lotta, Karina, Gièze, Gorge, and Asuka how to use them, then watched their shooting.

Since Gièze used to be a knight, she seemed to handle the Black Bow with ease.

”I’ve never handled a bow this small before, but it’s good that it’s not bulky to carry as a sidearm.”

Asuka and Gorge were saying that they didn’t need it since they had their swords, just like Hiroya did in the Royal Capital. But Hiroya was convincing them.

’Try not to fight against a large number of enemies.’

’You should reduce their numbers when you can.’

He was telling them exactly what I told Hiroya. Hearing this, Asuka and Gorge nodded seriously.

 (He remembered my words…)

 I felt happy about that.

”Anyway, we have Martina, an excellent scout, and everyone here is skilled in detection. We can often detect enemies first. Whether it’s a surprise attack or not, we aim to deal damage while we have distance. That’s our tactic.”

I explained our fighting style to everyone.

”This time, we’re also going for a new dungeon attack so that you can experience it firsthand. The wolves will stay behind, but everyone else will go, and I think it’ll be a good experience.”

Everyone nodded in agreement to my words.

* * *

”We spent the whole day preparing for the adventure… We might as well set off for the new dungeon tomorrow──after all, we’re all feeling energized.”

I muttered to myself while watching everyone practice their shooting. Hiroya, blushing next to me, seemed to have heard it.

”I’m sorry about last night… I was rough, and I even used my power release… I apologize.”

”Don’t worry about it. I, Dorothy, Martina, Kazumi, and even Rena were all very satisfied. It’s not so bad to be with everyone sometimes♡”

 ”No, it’s just my guilt…”

”A little roughness won’t break us. Well, be gentle with Rena, she’s still a virgin… Oh, and after that, Kazumi. No problem as long as she’s got the ‘pseudo-crotch tattoo’ and becomes Kazumi.”

”…Elf’s Secret Medicine… Next time, I’ll make sure to follow the dosage and instructions properly.”

”When I use it next time, I wanna try the ‘pseudo-crotch tattoo’ too ♡”

Aww… Shy Hiroya is just too cute!♡

The leader of ‘Rose Hip’, Simona, has been changed to sound more like Kansai dialect.
