”Are you really okay with this?”
I couldn’t help but grab Romy’s hand and ask.
After breakfast, Romy suddenly said, “I wanna go with Gunilla too.”.
”We can’t just let Gunilla go alone, right?”
”But…”
”I think those guys have reflected on their actions. Ms. Gièze, if we end up in a bad situation… you’ll come find us and take care of it, right?”
Romy smiled brightly.
”We’ll get the job done together!”
Gunilla made a fist with Funs.
”Ah, I like dat! Means we’re gonna see dis through!”
Ms. Simona stretched up to pat Gunilla on the shoulder.
”Here ya go, bud.”
Ms. Simona handed Gunilla a small Black Bow that was hanging from her waist.
”I’m just here to oversee this party, so I plan to stay out of the exploration as much as possible. So, this is useless for me.”
”But we can’t use weapons!”
”Yeah, we can’t use them at all…”
Saying that, the two of them handed their own Black Bow to Romy and explained how to use it.

”Okay. I think I can use this.”
”Wow, I can use it too!”
”I’ll give you some spare arrows. They’ll be good for self-defense.”
Romy and Gunilla hung the Black Bow on their belts.
”Thank you so much! We’ll definitely return it!”
”Yeah. We’ll absolutely bring it back.”
The two of them bowed, one with a big body and the other with a small one.
”Well then, let’s get you there.”
I took the two of them and left the room where we had camped.

”Uh, g-good luck…”
”Come visit us at the Clan house next time!”
”We’ll welcome you!”
Karina, Lotta, and Noriss patted Romy and Gunilla on the back.
”Hey, if anything happens to these girls, you know what’s up, right?”
”I’ll hunt you down to the ends of the earth!”
Eluda and Mr. Gorge are looking pretty intense.
”Got it. We don’t wanna make ‘Berserker’ Simona our enemy either…”
”…Are the little ones coming with us?”
The leader guy bows his head, and the magician guy calls out to Romy.
”I wanna see my job through too. But──there’s no second chances, okay?”
Romy and Gunilla strap on their backpacks and join the guys.
”Yeah, we got it boss. These ladies are under our protection now, so no worries there.”
What Ms. Simona is saying is just common sense and a rule to follow.
They’re hiring people who can’t fight to take them into the ‘Labyrinth.’.
”Think carefully about the responsibility of ‘taking care of the lives of those you hired.’.”
I just said that and took everyone out of the ‘Safety Zone.’.

”Aight… whaddya wanna do?”
”I wanna fill in the map for the Second Floor. If we explore around here, we should be able to fill it all in──what do you think?”
After answering Ms. Simona, I asked the rest of the team.
”It looks like Gunilla and Romy’s party headed down to the Third Floor, and I think there are still a lot of untouched rooms around here.”
Noriss checks the map.
”Y, y, yeah… let’s do our best and, um, take down some monsters!”
”Right. Let’s grab some loot too!”
Yeah, the goal is to ‘gain experience.’ I nod at Karina and Lotta.
”Eluda agrees with filling in the map! So, the direction is… that way, right, Noriss?”
”Yes. Let’s move ahead.”
With Noriss leading the way, we started walking through the labyrinth.
* * *
”Honestly… do you think that group can take down the floor boss on the Second Floor?”
”See, dis leader guy? He’s, like, pretty decent, ya know? Maybe a D, tops. De rest of dese guys, they’re more like Fs, maybe an E if dey get lucky… Was it ‘Two-Headed Snake’ back in de day, right?”
I can hear Mr. Gorge and Ms. Simona chatting in the back.
(They seem to have a similar rank to us. Well, besides me, there’s Ms. Eluda and Mr. Gorge who are both rank D…)
I’m confident we can take them down.
We’ve got good teamwork and high morale.
But…
(What about them? …Even if it’s because of their own foolish actions, their teamwork and morale can’t be that great, right?)
As soon as I thought that, I started worrying about Gunilla and Romy.
(I hope we can take down the floor boss safely…)
Just then, Noriss, who was ahead, ran back to us and said,.
”There’s a door. No key or traps. I sense 3 presences inside. I can’t tell their size, but based on my experience, I think they’re high-class humanoid monsters.”
”Got it. ──Mr. Gorge, let’s move up.”
”Sure thing.”
”I’ll open the door. Then Mr. Gorge and I will charge in, so Noriss, you hide and circle around.”
”Okay.”

We all made it to the door, where Karina and Lotta cast ‘Enchant’ on us.
Mr. Gorge and I got ‘Flame Enhancement’ from Karina, and Noriss got ‘Wind Enhancement’──the flame boosts attack power, and the wind boosts attack speed.
”Ms. Eluda, cover Karina and Lotta. Ms. Simona, you take care of Noo.”
”Got it!”
”Yuh, lef it ta mee!”
Mr. Gorge and I stood in front of the door, with Noriss hiding right behind us.
”Karina and Lotta, hit them with attack magic on the first strike. You two focus on the same target.”
”Y-yeah, got it!”
”Understood!”
Maybe it’s because we expect high-class enemies, but I could hear a bit of tension in their voices, so I turned around and smiled at them.
”We can do this. It’s all good.”
Then, I kicked the door down.
* * *
Mr. Gorge and I jumped into the room.
Just as we planned, Noriss quickly slipped into the room from our shadows.
Three high orcs turned to look at us.
(What we gotta watch out for… ‘fat’)
”Magic team! Go for the center!”
After giving that order, I charged at the high orc on the right.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Mr. Gorge sprinting to the left.
(The high orc’s torso, even Lord Hiroya avoided that spot. Gotta aim for the knee…!)
The high orc I targeted raised its club.
(Too slow…!)
Before it could swing down, I closed the distance and slashed its knee as I ran past.
──Gou!
My fiery strike hit its left knee perfectly.
(Got a hit!)
As I sheathed my curved sword (shamshir) and ran through, I turned back to face the enemy.
──Ugoaaaaah!
The high orc, now missing its left leg, collapsed while screaming.
(Good, next is the head!)
Gripping the curved sword (shamshir) in my sheath, I charged again.
Beyond the fallen high orc, I spotted another high orc, likely hit by an arrow-type magic from Karina and Lotta, kneeling down.
I drew my sword and beheaded the fallen high orc, then jumped to slice the head off the kneeling high orc.
The last one, maybe Mr. Gorge had cut its legs, was also down, and Noriss was slashing its neck with a short sword.
* * *
(Phew… I could see things clearly this time.)
I was keeping an eye on the other fights, so I was able to take down the high orc that got hit by magic too.
”Giez, niiiice moves. Yoo took down dat center high orc too. Dat shows ya really got a handle on da battlefield.”
Ms. Simona praised me with a smile.
I picked up the remaining magic stones and handed them to Noo.
”I got them safe! Lady Gièze, Sir Gorge, and Sir Noriss, you all did great!”
Noo’s got this dazzling smile and is being all sweet.
So cute!.
”Ah──w-well, we… we did our best too…!”
”Yeah, yeah! We wanna be pampered too!”
Karina and Lotta are protesting to Noo from behind Eluda.
Well, they’re not really mad, just super smiley.
”Lady Karina and Lady Lotta both did a great job!”
Noo stretches up to pat their heads.
”Ahh… this is so soothing.”
Ms. Eluda squints her eyes, watching the scene.
