Chapter 284 Gunilla and Romy III
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
(Gunilla’s POV)
Early the next morning, I headed to the central square of the village.
From my previous experience working as a Porter, I knew I still had some space for luggage, so I bought another shoulder bag and put my stuff in it, hanging it alongside my other bag.
Also, I really wanted a bit of leather armor, but both Romy and I have special sizes, so I would have to get that custom-made.
Instead, I bought a thick cloth cloak.
Romy got a kid’s size, and I managed to find the largest size that fit me.
”Even though we’re Porters, we really understand that we can get caught up in battles.”
Romy said while storing extra arrows inside the cloak.
”This here’s why us two were sittin’ ducks fer help…”
I took the Black Bow I received from Ms. Simona and Ms. Gieze and hung it at my waist.
”If we could fight more… maybe that party wouldn’t have been wiped out…”
”That ain’t true, Romy.”
I placed my hand on Romy’s shoulder.
”We fight only to keep ourselves alive.”
”I see… you’re right.”
Romy gently placed her hand over mine on her shoulder.
”Alright! Let’s grab breakfast at the stall and then head to the guild!”
Romy took my hand and started running.

When I asked the receptionist if there were any Porter jobs available, she quickly introduced me to a party.
It was a group of 4: 2 Warriors, one Magician, and one Thief.
They all seemed to be rank D, and their target was the floor boss on the Second Floor.
”We’re planning to explore until noon tomorrow. We’ll provide meals, so how about 7 silver coins per person?”
The Thief woman presented the terms.
It was essentially a day and a half of work.
They said they would evenly split the loot as well.
”We’re good with that. Thank ye.”
”Thank you very much…”
A female Thief smiled brightly, and the handshake sealed the deal.
After that, we arrived at the ‘Raetia Great Labyrinth Station’ by shared carriage.
The party completed the registration for the labyrinth exploration, and we greeted Ms. Camilla, the guild receptionist who had helped us the other day.
”Make sure to come back safe and sound this time too!”
With that, Ms. Camilla sent us off with a smile.
We waved back and dove into the labyrinth.

”Earth Bind!”
Three Goblins and one High Goblin.
The floor boss of the First Floor.
The magician restrained the High Goblin with magic, while the leader, a warrior, drew his sword and charged at it.
Another warrior swung his longsword at the remaining Goblins. The female Thief──.
──Ngggii!
Had somehow slipped behind a Goblin and cut its throat.
The remaining 2 Goblins were quickly taken down by the warrior.
The leader warrior, facing the High Goblin, deflected its swinging club with his longsword and then slashed horizontally at the High Goblin’s torso.

After descending to the Second Floor, things continued smoothly, and we easily dealt with encounters and room monsters along the way.
Since we wouldn’t reach the Second Floor’s boss today, we guided them to the Safety Zone.
”Ah, things are going well. Thanks to you, the route selection is going smoothly.”
”You guys aren’t new to this labyrinth, are you?”
While eating a late-night snack, the female Thief and the leader warrior struck up a conversation.
”Ah, this is our second time.”
Romy replied while slurping her soup.
”I see. I hired you as a Porter, but you were also helpful as a guide. Thank you.”
The female Thief said that, bowing her head along with the other party members.
”From here, I think it’s 3 rooms until the floor boss’s hall.”
Romy, feeling a bit shy after being thanked, scratched her head.
”The floor boss is definitely… a 2-headed snake, right?”
”Wow, when we were there, 2 appeared.”
”Hmm… it might be tough with 2.”
When the leader was informed about the floor boss from their time, the female Thief crossed her arms and tilted her head.
”Yeah. If we peek into the hall and see one, let’s fight.”
”If there are 2 or more… we should retreat.”
Another warrior and a magician suggested this.
”Right. We got a decent amount of Magic Stones and loot. For a day and a half of exploration, it’s a good profit.”
As the party reached a conclusion, we each went to sleep in our designated beds.

”…It was 2. Should we turn back and teleport home from the Safety Zone?”
In the morning, the female Thief reported after scouting the floor boss’s hall with Romy guiding her through the corridors.
”I see… then let’s wait for the next opportunity. Right?”
The leader made that decision.
”Next time, let’s look for a Tank and a warrior and challenge it with a 6-person party.”
”In a few days, adventurers will be overflowing in Razia Village… we should be able to find them soon.”
As the magician and warrior joined in the conversation, we retraced our steps.

We exchanged the Magic Stones at the ‘Raetia Great Labyrinth Outpost’ guild branch and returned to the village to cash in our jewelry.
Since the blacksmith was closed, we decided to exchange the ores at the guild.
”The share for the Magic Stones and loot is 5 copper coins and 3 silver coins per person. And your reward is one copper coin and 4 silver coins for the two of you. Altogether… one gold coin and 2 copper coins. ──Here you go. Thank you. This really helped.”
Romy received the reward from the female Thief.
”Thank you very much!”
”If it’s okay, can we ask you again?”
”…I’m sorry… we don’t know if we can continue.”
Romy bowed to the leader.
”I see… that’s unfortunate, but it can’t be helped. Well then.”
”If you change your mind, just let me know.”
The 4 of them left the guild.

”Romy… ya done made up yer mind, ain’tcha?”
I spoke to Romy while soaking in the hot spring.
”Gunilla feels the same, right?”
”Yeah…”
Leaning back in the bathtub, I looked up at the evening sky.
”I don’t reckon I can make it deep into that there Great Labyrinth if I just keep workin’ as a porter…”
”Yeah.”
”I been scared… felt like I was gonna meet my end more’n once, but… I wanna go further. I wanna see things I ain’t never seen before. Right now, I’m green as grass, both as a porter and an adventurer…”
”I also… want more adventures.”
(So Romy felt the same way as me after all.)
Feeling happy, I looked over, and Romy was also looking up at me and smiling.
”When we get outta this here bath… should we leave the inn?”
”Yeah.”
”Let’s pack up n’ head fer Famière?”
”Yeah. If we go there, we can go far away.”
(At first, it was for a living, but… both Romy and I… are definitely adventurers.)
Just thinking about adventures and labyrinths makes my heart race.
”Then let’s hurry, Gunilla!”
”Yeah! If we make it quick, we can still catch us a good supper!”
We quickly got out of the hot spring and headed back to the inn.
