Chapter 389 Frieda Hayate Ashkenhart

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 (Frieda’s POV)

(Well, doing guild requests like this… is part of our clan’s work.)

Tomorrow morning, Helena’s team will return from ‘Great Labyrinth Raetia’.

And in turn, Laura’s team plans to start an attack on the Great Labyrinth from the Thirteenth Floor.

(Now, how far did Helena get?)

I think they started from the 16th floor. Even if they don’t reach the 19th floor like Liz’s team from ‘Famière’…

(At least if they could make it to the 18th floor…)

The ‘mithril vein’ that Liz’s team discovered.

The miners are surely waiting for a party that can guide them there.

(There’s also the matter of Azradelius and the Demon King. ‘Famière’ aims to conquer ‘Great Labyrinth Raetia’ quickly. They can’t afford to guide and protect the miners looking for the mithril vein. Then──)

In response to their request, and to help this Raetia develop, we ‘Rose Hip’ must reach that mithril vein.

(Let’s finish this work quickly, and after Laura’s group, it’s my group…)

Even if Helena’s team hasn’t reached the 18th floor, my team can definitely follow them and reach the 18th floor.

While I was thinking about this, I came across the entrance to what was once an S-class dungeon – now known by its former name, the dungeon ‘Goblin Forest Labyrinth.’

”I’ll check the request again. It’s to wipe out all the monsters up to the Second Floor.”

I got the men off their horses, and then I got off my horse.

”Fortunately, the dungeon master is no longer here, and the monster environment has returned to normal. The monsters on the lowest floor are Ogre class, and on the second floor there are only Hobgoblins at best.”

 ”Vice-Captain Frieda!”

 ”What’s wrong, Mona?”

Mona Horngacher, an A-rank Thief and the Vice-Captain of the my team, raised her hand.

”I thought the boss room on the second floor of this dungeon would be ‘the boss monster transported by a teleportation circle,’ but what’s happening now?”

”Hmm. According to the report from Guido’s party, who previously explored here, the teleportation circle was not working, and there were 3 Hobgoblins.”

As I recalled the information I received from the guild when I accepted the request.

”Another request is to investigate that ‘teleportation circle.’ It seems we need to check regularly if it is not working.”

”Vice-Captain Frieda, I’ve finished burying the Magic Stone for teleportation.”

Amette Maeler, a rank A magician, hurried over.

”Alright, then we are ready. First, let’s go to the hall on the first floor. After we clear the monsters there, we can have lunch.”

 Everyone nodded with smiles.

Including myself, there were 4 in the vanguard role, one Thief, 2 magicians, one Tank, and one Porter.

All 9 of us went into the dungeon.

* * *

We cleared the 14 Goblins in the hall and had lunch there.

”But Vice-Captain…food in this condition doesn’t taste very good”

Berta Salzmann, who is also a vanguard, sits on her hammer and sips soup.

”…Putting your butt in your armor is not something to be praised for, Berta”

”Sorry. The size is just right…”

Berta sits down from the hammer, scratching her head.

Well, it’s true that eating food next to a pile of goblin corpses isn’t very tasty.

It seems that this labyrinth, which lost its dungeon master, is still in the process of being reopened, and the ‘corpse disposal’ is slow.

We decided to postpone the retrieval of the Magic Stone, have a quick meal, and go down to the Second Floor.

* * *

There is nothing structurally different from the previous labyrinth.

However, there are several traps, so we proceeded with caution while investigating.

In the rooms along the way, high orcs and high goblins appeared mixed with regular orcs and goblins, but there were no monsters that gave us trouble.

Here, we did not wait for the monsters’ bodies to be ‘devoured by the labyrinth’; we postponed the collection of Magic Stones and carefully moved through the corridors.

I heard that Ms. Liz and the others from ‘Famière’ got caught in a shooting trap, splitting up their strength. It puts a burden on Mona, but we will proceed while keeping an eye out for traps.

* * *

”The types of monsters aren’t that serious…”

Warda Sauter, a rank B Fighter, wipes the sweat from his forehead while sheathing his longsword.

”Yeah. There are a lot of them.”

I also sheath my sword in both hands.

 It’s a somewhat spacious room.

There are 3 hobgoblins and 15 goblins here.

They weren’t enemies for my team, which is ranked A and B, but the fatigue is gradually building up.

”Let’s take it easy and rest as we go. Just make sure to conserve our magic. If the teleportation circle on the second floor happens to activate…”

Well, at this rate, we should be able to finish investigating the boss room on the second floor by night.

(It would also be nice to finish the request today and rest at the ‘Great Labyrinth Base’ lodging…)

Then in the morning, after welcoming Helena’s group, we see off Laura’s group.

Thinking about this, I take a sip of the tea that Manuela Greiner from Porter has made for me.

She cooks for Rose Hip and does the housework, so the tea she makes is delicious.

”It looks like fun, Vice-Captain Frieda”

Manuela smiles at me like that.

 ”Really?”

”Yes. Before, you never showed me such a gentle smile during a mission or exploration.”

Saying this, Manuela sits down next to him, holding her own cup.

”I wonder. I think I naturally ended up with that expression when I was thinking about my other friends.”

”Hehe. I understand. I also feel that my teammates in the clan are very important now.”

Manuela looks at the team members resting in their own spots.

”Ah. I feel the same. And I know why.”

 Manuela nods at my answer.

This place, Razia Village──no, it’s not even a village anymore.

Now, some just call it ‘Raetia’.

It’s not just a town; it’s big enough to be a small city.

And this is true for the economy as well.

Raetia has developed this much, but the atmosphere and the kindness of the people are just the same as before. Among the adventurers drawn here for the ‘Great Labyrinth’, there are quite a few rough characters and criminals.

Despite that, my feeling of Raetia…

(The clan ‘Famière’. Probably I was influenced by their atmosphere…)

They care for each other like family… no, even more than that, they love each other.

 I feel envious of them──and…

(I cherish my own teammates more than ever.)

And this feeling──without a doubt, the members of ‘Rose Hip’ are starting to feel it too.

(The bond in the clan… has grown stronger.)

At first, it was a clan where women with emotional scars gathered, leaning on each other.

We worked hard to heal our wounds and aimed to become stronger together.

And then, coming here…I witnessed the connections between Ms. Liz, Lord Hiroya, Ms. Kazumi, and others.

(I realized that strength is not just power.)

 We can’t lose either.

We are also proud of being the largest clan in Mundo. We continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with our ‘Famière’ and to be their good rivals, which gives us both the strength to rise to greater heights.

 (And someday… hehe♡)

Suddenly realizing that my expression had changed, I wiped my mouth.

When I looked next to me, Manuela was giving me a dirty look.

 ”You were drooling… Vice-Captain, you were thinking about Mr. Hiroya… weren’t you…?”

Manuela, with a dumbfounded look on my face, muttered with a sigh.
