Chapter 393 Catch Up

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 (Liz’s POV)

”Anyway, I need to report to the lord and the guild… Oh, and to ‘Black Sheep’ too.”

I glanced at Rena and Kazumi.

They nodded and seemed to be sending ‘Telepathy’ right away.

”Now, can Dorothy and Martina head to the guild? There’s no one there who can use ‘Telepathy’. The rest of you should get ready to go to the ‘Goblin Forest Labyrinth’… Hey, Simona! Where are you going?”

While everyone was moving at my command, Simona, already fully equipped, was trying to leave through the front door.

”To Frieda… The Rose Hip gang’s in a jam too. Gotta do somethin’!”

”No, Simona! Even though you’re a guest, you’re under Famière’s care. You need to follow my orders.”

”We’re dealing with a disaster of Azradelius level, right? If we don’t git movin’, where we gonna end up if we’re too late?

 Simona turned around, furious.

 I know.

I understand her important friend is in danger.

”Simona will follow Hiroya. But you’re not prepared at all, right? You can’t go exploring with just armor and weapons.”

 ”But…”

Even with my solid reasoning, Simona’s momentum was slowing down.

”We are always ready to go exploring.”

 ”That’s our job, after all…”

Romy and Gunilla appeared in the dining hall.

Each of them carried a large backpack, looking fully prepared to head out for exploration.

Gunilla even had the ‘Arbalest’ equipped.

”I have portable rations too. We can leave right away.”

 ”You guys…”

 ”Honestly, you’re the perfect Porters.”

Seeing Romy puff out her chest, Simona smiled happily.

 I scratched my head, impressed.

 (Well then… It’s settled.)

”Is anyone available to leave now?”

In response to my question, Asuka and Gieze raised their hands.

 ”I, I can go too!”

With a clatter, Karina appeared, having hurriedly put on her leg armor.

”Alright. Let’s leave right away. Just don’t push yourself too hard. If you can’t catch up with Laura and the others, don’t go into the ‘Labyrinth.’ Wait for us then. Got it?”

Asuka and Gieze nodded, while Simona tried to leave without saying anything.

 ”Simona!”

”I get it. I’ll do the best I can.”

Saying that, she walked out the front door.

”Liz… I’m going with you. Just leave the rest to me.”

Asuka patted my shoulder, and then she and the others followed Simona.

After a while, the sound of horseshoes and the carriage faded away.

(Now, let’s hurry up and get ready…)

We need to catch up quickly to make sure Simona doesn’t take any risks.

 (Hiroya’s POV)

In the dark forest, Haya moved along the path lit by Lilith’s ‘Wisp.’

Though I was adjusting my speed, I was thinking it was time to let Haya rest.

”We’re pushing the horse too hard. I understand you’re in a hurry, but…”

”I know. So, I’ve tried to pull the reins a few times to stop.”

After a while of walking, Haya switched to a gallop and started running at full speed.

”I guess its eagerness is getting through to her… Haya is a smart horse…”

”Haya… it’s time to take a break. I know we’re in a hurry, but if you wear out…”

After calling out, I pulled the reins again.

Then, it gradually slowed down… and eventually stopped.

 ”Good job, Haya. You’re smart.”

Violet and I quickly got off Haya.

When I opened the folding bucket tied to the saddle, Lilith filled it with water.

”I understand you want to please your master, but don’t overdo it…”

Lilith gently stroked Haya’s neck as she drank water.

 ”But you caught up well.”

Saying that, Lilith gazed at a spot off the forest path.

”That’s true. If we hadn’t caught up, this horse would have run until it collapsed.”

I gently stroked Haya’s snout and looked at the same ‘open place’ as Lilith, seeing Violet.

 I also glanced over there…

 ”Mr. Hiroya…?”

What appeared from between the trees was

 ”Laura…?”

It seemed they were also resting their horses, as there were team members taking a break behind Laura.

 ”I’m glad… I caught up.”

Feeling relieved, I walked closer to the Rose Hip team members.

”Even if Hiroya tries to stop us, we will go.”

Annabelle stood up and began walking towards the horse that was resting.

”No, I’m not stopping you, okay?”

The Rose Hip members, Silke and others, looked at me in surprise as they tried to stand up like me.

”Huh? Hiroya, aren’t you here to stop us?”

Silke sat back down with a dazed expression.

I shared Violet’s explanation from earlier with everyone there.

That we needed to hurry to help Frieda.

”So, from now on, Violet and I are members of Team ‘Laura’.”

”That’s right. Goliath The Demon Dragon is not to be underestimated. I will help you guys with whatever little I can.”

Violet stands proudly next to me.

 ”So…who’s that?”

 Laura looks behind me.

 ”Huh?”

 Looking back… Lilith!?

(Was that exactly how she looked!?)

 ”Well… that’s it. A new member of our family, a magician…”

”It’s Lilith. Thank you for taking care of my lord.”

 ”Your ‘lord’… that’s, no way…”

”No, Laura. That’s not our relationship.”

Laura, Annabelle, Silke, Nele, Nina, Eugenia, and even the other members of ‘Rose Hip’ looked at me suspiciously, so I looked away.

* * *

 ”Okay. Let’s go now.”

After the members of Frieda’s team introduced themselves to me, Laura got up.

”It takes about an hour to get to the entrance of the labyrinth. Once you get there, you can teleport to the boss floor on the Second Floor.”

Mona, the vice captain of Frieda’s class, turned to me and spoke.

”I hope we can make it in time.”

I straddled Haya, with Violet in front and Lilith behind.

”Is it really okay for 3 of you to ride?”

From the driver’s seat of the carriage, Nele called out with concern.

 ”W-well, it should be fine.”

It seems Lilith is showing them an ‘illusion’ instead of ‘materializing.’

Haya probably doesn’t feel any weight either.

Since she has shown herself, she can’t just disappear now.

”Later, I’ll take some magical power and essence, okay?”

Lilith whispered in my ear from behind.

”Lady Lilith, please try to refrain from indecent acts…”

 ”Hehehe♡”

Though Violet scolded her, Lilith just smiled back seductively.
