Chapter 416 First Day of the ‘Grand Market’ (Part VI)

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

”You guys are pathetic. You’re all just a bunch of useless brats.”

Violet sat on the backs of 3 men who were lying on the floor, piled on top of each other.

 She sighed in exasperation.

I didn’t skip over any action, by the way.

I watched, but honestly, nothing happened.

 Absolutely nothing.

(Well, if I had to describe it play-by-play…)

Violet faced her opponents, holding her katana by the blunt edge, known as the ‘mune’ or ‘mine’ in common terms.

She drew her longsword and, in one swift motion, struck one man on the head with the blunt edge of her katana, then immediately turned and hit the other man’s neck with the same blunt edge.

 And that was it.

The 3 men Violet had knocked down were later taken away by the garrison’s security team that had arrived at the Chick Gathering Inn.

 ”Good job, Violet.”

”Are you mocking me, Hiroya? I never imagined they’d be this easy. It wasn’t even a challenge…”

 ”T-thank you!”

Violet turned to see the waitress who had been harassed earlier, now bowing to her in gratitude.

 ”Thank you so much!”

”You’re an incredible swordswoman, a cute demon warrior.”

Behind the waitress, the innkeeper, Della, was also bowing.

”If they were up against me, I’d have shown them who’s boss. Well, not really…”

Violet said, blushing but still puffing out her chest proudly.

”She’s a new recruit of Famière, but she’s quite skilled, isn’t she?”

”As you can see, her movements are incredibly graceful.”

Liz and Dorothy had somehow joined them at the dining table.

”Tell me you didn’t order beer or something.”

 ”You two…”

Hiroya and Violet looked at them in disbelief, but then they noticed another waitress bringing over a glass of honey lemon, and they sighed.

 ”There’s nothing I can do…”

Violet said as she sat at the table.

…I see she really like it.

”Liz and the others are keeping an eye on things, which allows us to do business safely.”

Della served some ‘fried beans’ as a snack.

”People from all sorts of places come here, and some of them can be trouble. Especially those who come with the caravans as guards.”

”We can’t let those people disrupt the Grand Market.”

Dorothy spoke with determination, following Liz’s lead.

They seemed to be enjoying their patrol like a date, but I trust that both Dorothy and Liz know when to be serious and when to relax.

 Della stared intently at Dorothy.

 ”But… you’re such a beautiful girl…”

Della leaned forward, whispering to Dorothy.

”Hey, how about working here? It’s night work, of course. You could earn 5 large gold coins a month.”

As Della enthusiastically tried to recruit Dorothy, I unsheathed my Yamikirimaru and sliced a piece of meat in front of her.

”Della, if you say another word… I won’t spare you, Della.”

 ”Sir Hiroya, you wouldn’t…?”

 ”Dorothy is mine.”

Della, unable to process my words, looked at Liz with a puzzled expression.

 ”Dorothy is Hiroya’s s*x slave.”

 Liz smirked at Della.

 Dorothy, blushing, leaned into me.

”My apologies, Lady Dorothy and Sir Hiroya. I didn’t realize you were a true harem master.”

Della bowed politely, but when she lifted her face, she looked exasperated.

”This man has no self-control. I’m always worried he might make a move on me.”

Violet gulped down the honey lemon drink.

Hey, I’m not into forcing anyone, okay?

”During the ‘Grand Market’ period, we are fully booked, but do come again after it’s over. We have rooms suitable for hardcore play.”

Della had come to see us off as we left the ‘Chick Gathering Inn’ to return to our patrol duty, and she was whispering something to Dorothy.

”H-Hardcore play…is that what you said?!”

”Yes, Liz is always being pushed to her limits by Sir Hiroya, making her squeal with delight.”

I could hear Della’s words clearly, so I interjected.

Della, I can hear you from here. And Dorothy, you’re still on duty, so don’t look at me with those dreamy eyes.

”As for you, my adorable demon swordswoman, you probably don’t need such services, but if you visit us again, I’ll treat you to anything you desire.”

 ”I just need some alcohol…mmph!”

 ”Haha, see you later, Della!”

I quickly covered Violet’s mouth and carried her out of the inn.

 ”Phew! What are you doing?!”

I finally released Violet when we reached the central square.

”What do you think you’re doing?” I asked, exasperated.

”Ms. Violet, in your current form, you look just as young as Mr. Hiroya, around 12 years old, which means you’re a minor.”

 ”Huh!”

Dorothy patiently explained to the bewildered Liz.

Violet seemed to understand and scratched her head.

”Y-Yes, in this form, I look similar to Kazumi or Lady Rena…or should I say, Rena.”

Violet almost slipped up by calling her ‘Lady Rena,’ and I felt a momentary jolt, but thankfully, she corrected herself.

Her reverence for the goddess was admirable, but I was glad she remembered that Rena’s identity as a goddess was a secret.

”I was being careless. But I guess in this form, I can’t enjoy alcohol…”

Watching Violet’s disappointed expression, I felt a twinge of sympathy.

”You can drink at the clan house, Violet. How about tonight? What do you think, Dorothy?”

”Clan house is fine, Violet. How about it around tonight? ────hat? Dorothy”

”Right? Let’s open some special wine♡”

 ”I-is that really okay?”

Violet broke into a joyful smile at Liz and Dorothy’s invitation.

 How adorable.

Before noon, we patrolled the central square one more time and returned straight to the guild on the north side of the southern residential district.

We handed over the patrol duty to Bone and the ‘Black Sheep’ squad.

Martina, Gieze, and Karina, who had been patrolling other districts, also returned, so we decided to head back to the Clan house together.

”It was so lively I almost forgot we were on duty.”

”Th-th-there were so many shops… and so many things being sold…”

Martina and Sister Karina spoke excitedly from horseback and the carriage respectively.

”It was quite a challenge calming those two down…”

Gieze sighed from the coachman’s seat.

 ”S-sorry about that, Gieze.”

Liz, who had led the group division, apologized from horseback.

”No worries. Since I lead in the Great Labyrinth explorations, I saw it as a test of my skills.”

”I didn’t mean for it to be that intense, though…”

Poor Gieze really had a rough time.

When we returned to the Clan house and tied the horses and carriage in the stables, it seemed the ‘Zett Merchant Guild’ group had also just returned.

We met Ms. Carla and the third team members Simona, Gunilla, and Romy.

”The merchant guild was so busy. I ended up leaving partway through… I wonder if that was okay…”

Ms. Carla spoke worriedly as she stepped down from Simona’s carriage.

”Well, Mr. Waleerry, da shop manager, is dere, so it shoudda be fine.”

”Yeah, it looked like they hired more staff too.”

”Well, I just wanna eat some food for now.”

Simona unloaded Romy and Gunilla from the carriage and led the horse to the stables.

 ”Alright, let’s have lunch!”

Liz called out cheerfully, and we entered the dining hall through the backyard door.
