Chapter 491 The Visiting Researcher

(Charlotte’s POV)
”Hah… hah…”
I was standing in front of a mansion that was probably one of the largest in Raetia.

To get here, I first asked at the Raetia branch of the guild for the location of the Zett Merchant Guild headquarters, and after trudging along the path they told me while carrying my heavy backpack, I finally arrived at the merchant guild, only to find the leader was absent.
I wasn’t even told where they were,
”Please come back tomorrow.”
I was brushed off rather coldly.
I figured they wouldn’t guide a woman whose identity they didn’t know to the leader, especially since I hadn’t made an appointment.
(But if the leader isn’t at the merchant guild headquarters…)
I had no leads at all.
I decided to walk from the Zett Merchant Guild headquarters to the central square of Raetia.
I was hungry and needed to find a place to stay.
Even though it was already dark, the streets were still lively, probably because it was the last night of the Grand Market, and I dragged my heavy feet along.

The inns facing the square were all full.
The attached dining halls were overflowing with people, and there were no seats available.
I finally found an inn with a vacancy, booked a room, and settled at a table in the dining hall.
I ordered a dinner set and savored the food that was served.
It was quite a generous portion, yet the price was about half of what it would be in the Royal Capital.
Cheap.
And delicious.
The lemon-flavored drink that came with the meal was so good that I ordered another one from the waitress.
As the waitress took my order, she was stopped by a man who looked like an adventurer at another table and chatted with him.
The waitress responded with a smile, and after bringing me my ‘honey lemon’ from the kitchen, she took the man’s hand and walked toward the inn.
I suddenly had a thought and looked around.
(Yeah. It’s definitely all men.)
This ‘Chick Gathering Inn’ is probably a brōtḥel too.
You can call over a waitress you like and receive ‘that’ service in a separate room.
Thinking about it, I can understand why there are so many female waitresses for the size of this diner.
”Can you let me use that magic tool?”
”It’ll be an extra charge, but if that’s okay…”
I overheard a conversation between the men at another table and the female waitresses.
Hearing the term ‘that magic tool’ made me almost stand up.
A man and a female waitress who seemed to have struck a deal disappeared towards the inn, just like the previous 2.
”Um… is it okay?”
I called out to a nearby waitress.

It was just as I thought. ‘That magic tool’ refers to an adult magic tool.
After giving a tip to the waitress I called, she told me various things.
Apparently, it was developed by the magicians of the clan ‘Famière,’ who are close with the leader of the Zett Merchant Guild.
”Well, I mean, close as in patron, and I also heard that the leader is a member of the clan.”
I thanked the waitress for telling me the location of the clan’s mansion and hurriedly finished the remaining food.
(I might be able to meet them tonight…!)
After finishing my meal, I received just the room key at the inn’s reception and quickly left the ‘Chick Gathering Inn.’

Finally, I arrived at the ‘Famière’ mansion.
Just as I felt relief at making it this far, the fatigue of my journey spread throughout my body…
(Just a little more. Just a little more to push through──)
I somehow rallied myself and rang the doorbell.

(Sasha’s POV)
”Lady Sasha! A guest-nano~!”
Leaning against Mr. Hiroya while enjoying wine, I was approached by the wolf maid Noo.
”Who is it?”
I drank a considerable amount of wine, and it seems I’m quite tipsy, as my words are slurring a bit.
(It’s because… Mr. Hiroya is spoiling me♡)
After handling negotiations over 3 days with a stream of merchants and securing various contracts, he was also pampering me as a reward.
The wine I drank while being patted on the head by Mr. Hiroya was incredibly delicious, a moment of pure bliss.
Moreover, I have a big task waiting for me even after the ‘Grand Market’ ends.
Meetings with the lord and those doing business in Raetia.
We will discuss future economic activities in Raetia based on this ‘Grand Market.’
(But right now… in this moment of happiness, I can still keep going♡)
As I gazed dreamily up at Mr. Hiroya, Noo delivered a message to me.
”Um… there’s a woman~desuno~. She seems to have a backpack and says she wants to talk about ‘adult magic tools’~.”
However, the negotiation time is already over…
”Oh, she also said she wants you to see ‘her research’~.”
At Noo’s additional words, I, along with Ms. Kazumi and Ms. Rena sitting across from me, all got up from our seats.
”W-What’s going on?”
Mr. Hiroya looked up at us in surprise.

”Yeah. Rena felt something like that too.”
”What a coincidence. I feel the same.”
We all headed down the stairs together.

The woman introduced herself as Charlotte Zeitz.
She struck me as rather petite and delicate.
Her hair was tied up in a messy fashion, perhaps due to neglect, but she graduated from the magic school in the Royal Capital and is now working on magic tool research at the royal castle, which made sense to me.
”A researcher, huh… The people in the research department at the trading company I worked for were also quite indifferent about their appearance…”
Ms. Kazumi whispered to me in a small voice.
(It was the same in Ms. Kazumi’s world, wasn’t it?)
I couldn’t help but smile.
”Um…! I was really impressed by the magic tool developed here, and…”
Ms. Charlotte stood there, rigid and still, speaking like that.
”Well, it’s not polite to chat standing, so come in!”
Ms. Kazumi took Ms. Charlotte’s hand and invited her into the dining room, so we followed along.

”””Research on golems?”””
All 3 of us couldn’t help but respond in unison to Ms. Charlotte’s words.
”Yes. I’m researching how to create magic cores from magic stones…”
”Normally, golems created by magicians generate a ‘magic core’ through spells, and that magic core transforms surrounding rocks and ores into golems. In contrast, naturally occurring golems are born from stones that have naturally become magic cores, which contain ‘magic taint or miasma’ found in rare veins.”
Ms. Rena supplemented Ms. Charlotte’s explanation.
”That’s right. I’m researching how to artificially create those magic cores using ‘Magic Stones’ obtained from monsters.”
”Wow… that’s pretty amazing.”
Ms. Kazumi was also impressed.
”So, I’m trying to use that magic core to create a ‘s*x golem’.”
”””Huh…!?”””
Suddenly, the conversation took a leap into ‘that area,’ and once again, the 3 of us were shocked in unison.
