Chapter 541 Mira and Ema
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
(Mira’s POV)
”Ms. Kazumi, is it really okay to be in a position of being engaged to… him?”
Her tone sounds worried, but Ema is probably really curious.
”I love Hiroya too, but I also care about everyone in the clan. It’s only natural for Hiroya to be liked by others, but I don’t want the girls who have fallen for him to feel sad.”
Ms. Kazumi took a seat in the chair next to me.
”So… it’s a bit of a strange way to put it, but I’m okay with any girl who can accept Hiroya as a ‘shared boyfriend.’”
”I see──now I kinda understand.”
Ema nodded, seeming to agree with Ms. Kazumi’s explanation.
”You get it.”
”Of course. Like, for example, if Mira and I both liked the same guy…”
Ema turned to look at me.
Her gaze felt intense.
”Even if he said, ‘I’ll date both of you,’ I’d be fine with it. After all, it’s my beloved Mira.”
”Is that how it is?”
”That’s exactly it, right?”
Ema flashed a bright smile at me.
”Mira, would you be okay knowing that if you ended up dating him, you might get dumped and cry? I wouldn’t want to see you sad if I were in the opposite position.”
”Ah… that’s true. I wouldn’t want you to be sad either.”
”See? It’s just like that.”
Yeah.
It feels like Ema has convinced me, but I think I started to understand Ms. Kazumi’s feelings a little bit.
As we exchanged our thoughts, Ms. Martina and Ms. Kazumi listened with gentle smiles, while Mr. Ares wore a serious expression.
”Seriously, women are so hard to understand. I’m the possessive type, so… I just can’t get it at all.”
”Especially for Ares, it’s probably impossible. I mean, he doesn’t even understand Liz’s feelings and is still saying, ‘Let’s do it’ without a clue about a woman’s heart.”
”No, let’s just drop that topic for now…”
Mr. Ares shrunk under Ms. Kazumi’s words, shrugging his shoulders.
I didn’t know why, but I figured he’d probably done something insensitive to Ms. Liz before.
”Mr. Ares, we’re going to bed now.”
The people who had been chatting with Ms. Gargantua and the others called out to Mr. Ares.
”We’ve got a room ready for you in the hallway on the third floor, so get some rest for tomorrow.”
”We appreciate your kindness.”
A woman in heavy armor gave Ms. Kazumi a polite bow.
”Oh, let me introduce you. This is Mira. She’s Olga Lindermann, a Rank D Fighter.”
Ema introduced me to the people who had joined my group.
The Tank was Willem Shatton.
The magician was Geoff Dissen.
Both seemed to be Rank D.
They exchanged greetings, and, guided by Ms. Kazumi, they left the dining hall together to go to their rooms.
”Ema, are you staying here too?”
”I’m going back to the inn tonight. I need to leave a message for Amel and Zamie, and I left my equipment there.”
”‘Tonight’?”
”They’re staying under Famière’s care, for now.”
Mr. Ares patted Ema on the shoulder and started talking.
Apparently, they wanted to keep the adventurer’s lodges and inns as open as possible.
It seems that Raetia is still attracting a lot of adventurers and Porters.
Mr. Ares explained that the lord wanted to prioritize accommodations for Porters.
”Basically, we’re trying to gather as many Porters as possible. It’s a crucial job, and we still don’t have enough of them here.”
Mr. Ares scratched his head, looking disappointed.
Apparently, his party still hadn’t found a Porter to accompany them on tomorrow’s Great Labyrinth exploration.
It sounded like they would go to the guild tomorrow morning to look for a Porter before heading to the Great Labyrinth garrison.
”So, I figured I’d at least look after my party members properly.”
”I mean, we were kind of just thrust into this, right?”
Mr. Ares puffed his chest out, and Ms. Martina immediately interjected.
”Well, you know, I made a deal with Liz.”
Looking sheepish, Mr. Ares glanced at Ms. Martina.
”Mira, what do you say? We’re both in the same boat here, you know? Living together like this will strengthen our bond, and besides──”
”””The food is amazing”””
Mr. Ares was interrupted by a voice behind him.
Turning around, I saw Ms. Gargantua, Mr. Hernando, and Mr. Esperanza standing proudly.
”Delicious food and a hot spring you can use whenever you want are definitely appealing…”
I responded, but it was more than that.
(It’s not just Ms. Martina. I’m sure I’ll gain something valuable from these Famière seniors…)
”Thanks for having me!”
I stood up from my chair and bowed my head to everyone.
* * *
”This is all happening so fast, right?”
Ema spoke from the bed next to me.
Since then, I’d been taken to the inn by Mr. Garm, one of Mr. Ares’s party members who considers himself his apprentice.
After relaxing in the hot springs with Ema, I decided to get some sleep early for tomorrow.
”Yeah. Amel and Zamie would be shocked if they knew.”
I’d been through a lot today, and my adrenaline was still pumping.
I couldn’t sleep.
”I mean, I’m joining a party made up of adventurers from Raetia… Mira, you’re in Ms. Gargantua’s party, the Demon King Four Dark Heavens! And there’s Ms. Milia, the Sage! I can’t imagine how they’d react.”
Ema chuckled softly under her covers.
”Right? I’m surprised myself. Besides… even though we’re both just temporary residents, we’re relying on Famière for care.”
We came to Raetia, the Great Labyrinth, filled with dreams and hope, but to be honest, I was really nervous.
But…
”I…To have someone like me… Mr. Ares, who invited me… As a Thief, fulfilling my role and definitely repaying him…”
Ema’s voice was starting to falter a little.
She must be getting sleepy soon.
”Me too. Everyone here is top-notch… But I won’t let the pressure get to me, and I’ll do my best to show off my own abilities…”
”A- are you… okay? Mira…”
Ema didn’t answer.
”Yeah. I’ll do my best. Good night, Ema…”
I decided to surrender to the sleepiness that was creeping up on me.
