Chapter 566 Gargantua Team Second Floor

(Gargantua’s POV)
”Isn’t it a bit too hasty to think we can break through the First Floor this morning?”
Milia called out from behind, slightly out of breath.
”No problem. As always, I’ll cut down all the enemies.”
”No, there’s definitely a problem, Lady Gargantua!”
”That’s right! While Esperanza and I focus on keeping an eye on our backs, Lady Gargantua needs to be more careful…”
Esperanza and Hernando, who had instructed them to protect Sage Milia, Thief Mira, and Porter Maya, bellowed from the back of the formation.
”Exactly, Gargantua… at the very least, have MirMir walk up front to use ‘Detection’…”
”No… Lady Milia…”
Milia, who had joined Hernando’s line of reasoning, hesitated to voice her opinion to the formation, but Mira spoke up in a timid tone.
”Lady Gargantua’s movements to sense and attack the ‘wandering monsters’… are faster than the monsters triggering My Detection…”
Her voice gradually faded away.
When I turned around, I saw Mira walking with her shoulders slumped and head down.
”Seriously… don’t you ever think about ‘nurturing the younger members’?”
”I…I’m sorry. I was a bit flustered thinking we needed to reach the Third Floor’s Safety Zone by nightfall…”
Seeing Mira look so deflated made me realize my mistake, and I bowed my head in response to Milia’s spot-on scolding.
”Well, it’s still the Second Floor. I’ll have MirMir keep working hard on disarming traps and unlocking treasures… After we take care of the next room’s monsters, shall we have lunch?”
”Finally, it’s Maya’s turn──meow. I’ll leave lunch up to you──meow.”
Just as Milia said, it’s about time for lunch.
Even Hernando and Esperanza in the rear look brighter.
”MayMay, I’ll help too.”
Mira, who had been slumped over weakly, perked up with energy.

We defeated the nearby monsters and had our lunch there.
Maya and Mira quickly whipped up a meal from the ingredients they brought.
”The dried meat Ms. Hanna and Suu make becomes tender and delicious when cooked over a fire──meow.”
”Indeed. And just adding some vegetables and cheese to bread makes for a delicious lunch.”
Maya and Mira distribute the meal to everyone.
”We’ve… never had such a delicious-looking meal on an adventure before, have we?”
”The hero’s party, Lady Milia and Lady Megumi were there too, right?”
Hernando asks Milia, who is munching on bread.
”The food… it was all Van──Elberhardt and Rain’s doing. That’s why it wasn’t very tasty.”
”You… Sir Hero and Prince Raincrist!? Gulp!?”
Esperanza chokes on her bread in surprise at Milia’s nonchalant answer, while Mira quickly hands her some water to drink.
”Because… Megumi and I are both bad at cooking. It was okay when we were in a village or around people, but during prolonged camping, it was tough.”
”I see. Back then, as the Four Dark Heavens, our priority was to cut off Milia’s supply lines, wasn’t it?”
”Something like that♡”
Milia bites into the bread again with a full-faced smile.

(Mira’s POV)
After lunch and a break, we head towards the floor boss area of the Second Floor.
(I have the map of up to the Tenth Floor memorized.)
But in battle, I’m almost no use.
While the main role of a Thief is to scout ahead at the front, I walk behind Ms. Gargantua, who charges into battle without hesitation, and indicate the route to take at each branching point as we move through the corridor.
”Straight ahead, then turn right.”
Following my instructions, Ms. Gargantua nodded while keeping her eyes fixed ahead.
She held her great naginata ready, having already swept through the room, dealing with the monsters, including the wandering ones.
(Incredible… At this rate, it’s not just me; even Lady Milia won’t have a chance to shine…)
Well, the ones appearing are just Goblins or Orcs, with maybe a high-class monster at best, so they aren’t enough to trouble Ms. Gargantua.
I thoroughly check and unlock the treasure chests that appear in the room.
”Wow, you’re really quick at opening those. Impressive!”
As I unlocked the chest and looked up, I found Ms. Milia peering in curiously beside me.
”Mira, the Thief from the Royal Capital, is quite skilled; she really stands out among them.”
Ms. Gargantua was wiping off the monster’s bodily fluids from the edge of her great naginata.
”That’s not true. As an overall Thief, Amel, who came with me to Raetia, is far more talented.”
I pulled out an old ornament from the chest and handed it to Lady Milia.
”Amel Pitzner, huh? ──They did say she’s someone to watch out for in the guild. She’s capable of being a party leader.”
After lightly inspecting the ornament I handed her, Lady Milia passed it to MayMay.
”But really, when it comes to specialized Thief skills, you definitely excel.”
With that, Lady Milia lightly patted my shoulder and stood up.
”Ah… thank you.”
”Ms. Mira, since you’re a member of Clan Famière, you should ask Ms. Martina to teach you a lot.”
”Right, right. Also, there’s Ms. Laura, a Thief from Rose Hip, who visits often. That place offers a great environment for skill improvement.”
Mr. Hernando and Mr. Esperanza said that, but I hurriedly shook my head and waved my hands.
”No, no, no! Me, a member of the Famière? But I’m just a ward, and… talking to someone like Ms. Martina and Ms. Laura…it’s almost too much for a fledgling thief like me…”
”Is that so? They both seem like nice girls, don’t they?”
”Yeah. Nothing to be nervous about.”
Even Lady Milia and Ms. Gargantua say that…but to me, they’re both people I look up to, way above me.
”Maya’s only been here a short while, but…I’m sure there’s no need for such hesitation – meow”
MayMay, looking down at my lowered face, gave me a smile.
”At least, those 2…aren’t the types to look down on someone’s abilities.”
”That’s right. And both of them are beautiful.── In another 10 years, they’ll be amazing women…Ouch!?”
Just as Mr. Hernando was saying that, Ms. Gargantua smacked him on the head with the shaft of her great naginata.
”Well, well… you too, but Ares’ party just welcomed Ema-chan, and she’ll be relying on the Famière (here) from now on, so you should teach her everything you can, wouldn’t you?”
Lady Milia, sending a withering glance at Mr. Hernando, said that, and I nodded and stood up.
