Chapter 581 Dungeon Core and the Ares Class

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 (Hiroya’s POV)

”There’s nothing to worry about. Just leave it to Water Dragon (Wash)!♡”

Facing the deepest floor’s gate, our group is scratching our heads, and Lilith says that nonchalantly.

”That guy is also a remnant of an Ancient Dragon. He should have enough magical power to maintain this Great Labyrinth.”

 ”Lilith… that’s true, but…”

”That’s right! It’s not just up to us! We have to consider Water Dragon (Wash)’s wishes too, right?”

Against Lilith, who’s already decided to rely on Water Dragon (Wash), both Rena and Liz retort with exasperated expressions.

 ”Wait a minute…”

 Kazumi stops everyone.

…That look on her face is like Chief Miura… what is this…?

”That’s a great idea! Let’s definitely persuade Water Dragon (Wash)!”

”Kazumi… did you come up with something weird?”

Aluda peeks at Kazumi’s face with a smirk.

Oh, Aluda finally realizes that Kazumi’s cooking up something mischievous.

”Hey, how about this. A ‘Dragon God Festival’ event. ── ‘Great Labyrinth Raetia’s deepest floor, to the Dragon God residing there, who can reach the fastest? ── Wouldn’t that be fun?”

 ”Um… even high-ranking adventurer parties take days…”

Even I couldn’t help but interject.

… It would be fun, but you definitely need Rank S floor skills, right?

”I’m still working out the details, but if Water Dragon (Wash) is the dungeon master, he could be pretty flexible, right?”

Kazumi turns her sparkling eyes towards Lilith and Rena as if asking them a question.

”Well, as the dungeon master, of course…”

”Hmm… I suppose we could adjust the monsters that appear.”

As if receiving Kazumi’s gaze, Rena and Lilith start thinking and answering.

”Alright, let’s go ask Water Dragon (Wash) for help right away.”

’Leaving it to Water Dragon (Wash) is a good idea. …Understood. Leave the negotiations with him to me. If the main body is freed, I’ll handle the direct talks immediately.’

”But if we free Frejya… this Great Labyrinth…”

Seeing Frejya go along with Lilith and Kazumi’s plan, I conveyed my concerns that if she were freed, the reconstruction of the Great Labyrinth would begin.

”Big Brother Hiroya, even if the labyrinth is conquered, the reconstruction won’t start right away, so it’s okay.”

”Yeah… the Dungeon Core should maintain it until the stored magical power runs out.”

Martina, who was a top student at the training institute, and Dorothy, the knowledgeable Elf, reassured me.

”Wait, but generally… after conquering the labyrinth, the remaining magical power in the Dungeon Core is used for reconstruction, right? If it’s all used up…”

”To explain in detail… when the Dungeon Core uses up all its magical power, it first recovers all the monsters in the labyrinth, converts them into miasma, reabsorbs them, and then uses the stored magical power for reconstruction.”

Rena provided a very detailed explanation.

 I see.

”After the labyrinth is conquered, if someone replenishes the magical power before the Dungeon Core runs out, they become the next dungeon master and can rebuild it as they wish. Well, the dungeon master must regularly replenish the Dungeon Core with magical power… so, rather than an outsider, Water Dragon (Wash), who makes his base here, is the most suitable candidate.”

 Lilith provided further detailed clarification.

”In that case, I’ll leave the transfer of dungeon master responsibilities to Frejya… We’ve got to free her soon.”

Simona thumped her knee and stood up.

 ”The deepest floor… I wonder if there’s a vein of adamantite steel…”

”Noo doesn’t really understand the tough stuff, but… I really want to set FreFre free soon!”

Meluda murmured something that sounded like a blacksmith’s wish, and Noo was still full of energy.

 (Ema’s POV)

It was about 2 hours late for the party of Ms. Gargantua, which Mira had joined, and for the Liz team from Famière.

I, Emanuela Gerdeller, finally entered the Great Labyrinth Raetia, having contracted a porter guy I found at the guild.

”Loosen up, Ema. If you’re that tense, you can’t do a good job, you know?”

Mr. Garm lightly patted my back with a smile, and I could tell I was tightening up.

 I’m a thief.

I’m inexperienced, but I declared that I would carry out my role as a scout and got the okay from the leader, Mr. Ares, to lead the way.

…Well, Mr. Ares and Mr. Garm, who are probably worrying about me, are sticking right behind me like this.

Somehow, I’m managing to hold my own.

Using detection, I quickly picked up on a swarm of giant ants, and Fighters Mr. Ares, Mr. Garm, and heavy Fighter Olga were scattering the horde.

The male porter and I, along with magician Mr. Geoff, were protected by Tank Mr. Willem, watching our vanguard fight.

(Mr. Geoff is probably waiting for the right moment to provide magical support…)

 I’m really just watching.

…Well, I suppose I could fight against a giant ant, but in a chaotic situation with multiple targets, I’d just be in the way.

I gaze at the back of Mr. Willem, who is holding his shield in front of me.

Mr. Willem dons his segmented metal armor, then throws on a hooded cloak and pulls the hood low over his face.

He looks slender for a tank, but his stance with his shield raised is still reassuring.

Speaking of slender, Mr. Geoff beside me is also small and thin.

He’s deep in his own hooded cloak too, his face hidden.

But a few times while standing behind Mr. Willem, getting a fleeting glimpse of his face…I think he had a very handsome face.

 More like handsome than tough-looking.

By the time we’d finished, the giant ant horde was wiped out.

Thankfully, the 3 vanguard members were unharmed.

We all gathered the scattered Magic Stones and handed them to the Porter man.

I think his name was Mr. Bal.

He’s a quiet guy, but he gets the job done.

He’s also brought our Party’s equipment and supplies.

He’s a Porter through and through, with a big build.

”Let’s have lunch in the next room after we clear out the monsters,”

After checking their equipment, Mr. Ares tells everyone.

”Alright then – Ema, check that door!”

Mr. Garm points to the door a short way down the corridor.

 (Things are going well)

At this rate, we should reach the Second Floor Safety Zone by nightfall.

I jogged to the door and started checking for locks, traps, and any sign of life inside.
