Chapter 593 The Rookies’ Report Meeting

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 (Mira’s POV)

Our ‘Gargantua Team’ proceeded to the Fourth Floor’s ‘Closed World’ where the hero Mr. Elberhardt and ‘Hidden One (Vampire)’ reside after defeating the floor boss on the Third Floor.

 There, an astonishing sight awaited…

A vast expanse of green land unfolded within the underground labyrinth.

Even though the sun wasn’t visible in the sky, it was bright as if it were daytime, and with Ms. Milia as our guide, we headed towards a settlement on the outskirts of a large forest in the center of this land.

This was a settlement of the ‘Hidden Ones (Vampires)’, filled with essential establishments for adventurers like inns, dining halls, taverns, and blacksmiths, bustling with adventurers exploring the labyrinth.

We visited the mansion of the hero Sir Elberhardt, who resides here, and we were warmly welcomed.

Ms. Milia inquired about the ‘Star of Thunder’ that Ms. Gargantua is concerned about, but unfortunately, Sir Elberhardt did not recognize it either.

Then, upon seeing Ms. Gargantua’s broken horn, Sir Elberhardt cautiously asked about the situation… he seemed distressed, rubbing his head in regret.

However, just as quickly, his expression shifted to one of pain, and the terrifying expression on Ms. Barbara, Sir Elberhardt’s wife sitting next to him, left a strong impression on me.

(Yeah, not everyone is like Mr. Hiroya’s girlfriends; there are also jealous women like Ms. Barbara.)

At that moment, I recalled the earlier matter that Ema had made me come to terms with.

 (I wonder which side I’m on…)

 While I pondered such thoughts.

We stayed at Sir Elberhardt’s mansion and used the teleportation gate established in this village to return to the base the following morning.

This large-scale teleportation gate was said to have been set up by Ms. Milia for the movement of the ‘Hidden Ones (Vampires)’ living here and for the transport of supplies.

And then, things got rough after we returned to the base.

Apparently, a celebration had been held from yesterday afternoon until this morning when Ms. Liz’s party returned, and in the cafeteria of the base, adventurers who had drunk too much were sprawled out all over the place, sleeping.

Hearing that there was a party that hadn’t returned even on the scheduled return date, I hurriedly decided to inquire with the guild staff.

Mr. Ares’s party, which had departed on the same day as us, seems to have faced an incident where they were attacked by other adventurers, but they apparently returned by the next morning.

Fortunately, I was relieved to hear that no one had sustained even a single injury.

Amel’s party, which had departed the day before we dived, had reached the Second Floor as scheduled and returned by noon on the day we set out.

 However…

”The party that Ms. Zamie Abeille joined…”

Of the 3 people I inquired about, it seems that the party with Zamie has not returned even past their scheduled return time.

”It seems they applied for a slightly longer exploration period this time… but they have yet to return even by yesterday afternoon, which was their planned time.”

Ms. Camilla from the guild staff told me this with a serious expression.

They had also received notice to confirm the safety of the party that departed this morning for the Great Labyrinth, so while it was worrying, I could only wait.

As Ms. Camilla said this, I couldn’t stop the trembling in my body.

”In any case, let’s return to Raetia. Ema and that Amel should have returned as well. They may be worrying about you.”

With Ms. Gargantua’s arm around my shoulder, I somehow calmed down and decided to return to Raetia with everyone.

I was sent to the Chick Gathering Inn, while the other members went to the mansion to report to the lord.

When I rushed to my room, Amel and Ema were there, looking worried and hunched over.

Seeing me, Ema must have been relieved, because she jumped up and clung to me, and I managed to hold her back.

 ”Thank goodness… Mira is safe.”

”I’m fine. With Ms. Gargantua and Ms. Milia around, what could possibly go wrong? ──Speaking of which…”

While I comforted the sobbing Ema, I asked Amel, peering over her shoulder.

 ”So, Zamie’s still missing, huh?”

 ”Yeah…Zamie’s party hasn’t returned…”

Amel, looking exhausted, nodded slightly at me.

I managed to soothe Ema, got her to sit down, and headed to the small kitchen to make some tea.

* * *

”I heard. You two landed in some pretty good parties. And you even became wards of that Famière, right? Congratulations.”

Concerned about Zamie, Amel, who had noticed our silence, tried to lighten the mood.

”That’s right. I’m leading the charge for these young talents in Raetia, under Mr. Ares’s party…” And Mira is even more impressive, you know?”

After a cup of tea and a moment to collect herself, Ema answered Amel with a proud chest.

”Mr. Ares’s party, no less…and Mira is joining Ms. Gargantua, the former Demon King, and Sage Milia’s party? You’re practically guaranteed to clear the deepest floors!”

 ”Eh!?!?

Amel, who had been smiling at Ema, froze and turned towards me, stiff as a “failed golem.”

”I was stuck doing maintenance for the guild, since I didn’t get picked up…Ms. Gargantua happened to be looking for a Thief, and… it was really, a stroke of luck, maybe even a miracle.”

”It’s surprising just to see Lady Sage Milia… But Gargantua from Four Dark Heavens, isn’t that the Demon King’s right-hand man who stood against the Hero Party? Why would someone like that be with Milia…?”

”They said that they became important friends to each other. Isn’t that wonderful? Even though they were once adversaries, they’ve reached a point where they can call each other ‘friends.’”

In response to Amel’s question, Ema, shining with excitement, answered on my behalf.

”I see. So, how was it, Mira? What about their abilities?”

”Well… it was more incredible than I imagined…”

I used gestures to tell the two sparkling-eyed girls about Ms. Gargantua and Ms. Milia’s battle.

* * *

”Amazing… taking down 2 Wyverns in an instant…”

”Yeah. It really was over in an instant. Even if ‘monsters come out adjusted to the party’s strength,’ facing 2 Wyverns as the floor boss on the Third Floor is just shocking.”

”If it were me, I think I’d wet myself just from watching…”

Listening to the excited conversation between Amel and me, Ema propped her chin on her hand in exasperation, causing both Amel and I to burst into laughter.

”My party consists of mostly young adventurers around rank E. Everyone is either at my level or one rank lower.”

As she gazed at the cup of tea, Amel began to speak.

”There are 2 male Fighters, one male Tank, one female Archer, one female magician, and one female Porter in our party. Everyone talks about their dreams with shining eyes. I want to lead them. We will become one of the top parties in Raetia.”

”…You’ve met some good companions. Congratulations.”

 ”You all too…”

As I extended my right hand, Amel placed her hand on mine after taking Ema’s.

To celebrate the paths each of us will take moving forward.

 ”I hope Zamie is safe…”

 Ema murmured softly.

”I heard she started from the Fifth Floor. I want to go search for her, but… we don’t have enough strength.”

 ”That’s true…”

”It seems they’ve notified all the parties that set out to explore the Great Labyrinth this morning, so we can only wait for their report.”

As I gently stroked Ema’s head resting on my shoulder, I could only pray in my heart for the safety of Zamie’s party.
