Chapter 631 Gorge’s Plan
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
(Karina’s POV)
I had a bad feeling in my chest, so I pushed away Ms. Eluda and Noriss, Ms. Gunilla and Ms. Romy, and rushed out of the guild branch by opening the door and jumping outside.
What I saw with my eyes was…
”G… Gieze! Gisela!”
A tall demon was crouching down, holding his right arm high up in the air.
And in front of he… Gieze was floating in the air.
The demon’s right hand had a hook claw that seemed to be connected to Gieze’s body with bright red blood.
”Extra Fire Pillar”
The high-level attack spell was chanted in a hurry.
A wave of flames rose up powerfully where the demon was standing.
I tried to run to where Gieze had fallen to the ground, but…
”D… don’t come!”
Gieze, covered in blood and lying on the ground, strongly held me back.
I took a step forward but stopped moving, and then a killing intent came attacking me head-on.
”Karina! It’s dangerous!”
Ms. Eluda, who had followed me, stood in front and raised her favorite large shield, and the sound of metal scraping ‘Screech!
Screech!’ made my skin crawl.
”Oof!?”
Ms. Eluda braced herself with the shield in a forward-leaning posture to withstand the impact.
Behind the shield, the tall demon had suddenly appeared…
(H… how is it… unharmed…?)
His pitch-black body was without a single scratch, and it was looking down on me and Ms. Eluda with a sinister twist of its face.
”Your magic is powerful, but… it’s too slow”
The demon raised his right arm high and muttered.
The hook claw still had Gieze’s blood dripping from it…
──Thud!
A heavy firing sound echoed behind me, where I had been frozen in fear.
A red-hot arrow zipped past the demon’s shoulder and flew off into the distance.
Turning around, Ms. Gunilla can be seen holding the ‘Arbalest,’ an ancient civilization relic, on her shoulder.
”Missed! Gunilla! Quickly get the next arrow!”
”Understood!”
Ms. Gunilla quickly winds the string.
The demon, upon seeing the seemingly ominous giant ballista, seemed startled for a moment but quickly vanished from before us.
”That’s a secret weapon… We need to stop that thing somehow. You… aim for there.”
Ms. Violet, who had been standing next to me without me noticing, spoke to us with a strained voice.
Looking closer, she was clutching her abdomen, and blood was slowly dripping from the corner of her mouth.
”Oh no, are you alright?.. At least, let me use ‘Healing’…”
”Later… Just make sure you don’t leave Eluda’s protection. If possible, set up a ‘Protection Barrier.’
Ms. Violet gave us these instructions while breathing heavily.
Then, after taking a deep breath, “Suu (Woo)!” she let out a roar that was unfitting for her small frame.
”Don’t show yourselves! This battlefield is being guarded by us, the ‘Famière’!”
Behind us, Tank jobs and magicians, and various other party adventurers who were guarding the guild branch were trying to rush out, but Noriss was desperately trying to stop them.
”B-But…”
”Those are the sidekicks of Demon King Four Dark Heavens… they call themselves the Sixteen Demon Generals, archdemons. Leave it to us… Noriss, keep an eye on that fat demon. It’s probably more troublesome than…”
…they were probably trying to help us.
A large tank-looking adventurer who was trying to come to our aid, backed away a step when he heard ‘arc demon.’
Then, as he turned back, Noriss strongly nodded in agreement with Ms. Violet’s instructions.
Ms. Violet turns her head slightly, gives a light smile, and nods in agreement.
She looks very dependable, even though she looks young.
”Then let’s go…Gorge! We’ll stop that guy!”
Ms. Violet leaps out from behind Gorge’s shield.
”Alright!” Gorge replies, and together, they stand back to back, guarding their surroundings while drawing their katana.

(Violet’s POV)
”But Violet, I can’t see how fast he is…”
”You…are whining?”
My lungs are hurting, and it’s hard to breathe, but…I am the strongest fighter here right now.
I have to encourage this ‘handsome man’ I’m backing up.
”Lady Lilith said that Gorge is the second best man after Hiroya.”
”Seriously!?”
Gorge suddenly shouts in a strange way.
Then, I feel the heat coming from the guy behind me.
(Hmm… He seems to be pretty excited…)
It’s a little different from what Lady Lilith actually meant, but…I feel a sense of strength coming from behind me, so it’s a good result.
”If Gieze is in that state…we absolutely can’t let that guy face them!”
”Don’t worry. They said their goal was to ‘capture’ them. …Well, it’s best to get her treated as soon as possible, though.”
While looking around cautiously, they whisper to each other like that.
Suddenly, Gorge lets out a laugh, as if he had to swallow it.
”Violet…you’re hurt pretty badly from that first attack, aren’t you?”
”Yes. …Not to the point of collapsing, though.”
”Then…I want you to pretend to faint from the pain. ──I want to make the enemy focus on me.”
”…Do you have a plan?”
”Yup”
For a moment, I glance at Gorge behind me.
There, a determined look in his eyes.
──He stares at one point and smiles faintly.
”You…aren’t thinking something reckless, are you?”
”Don’t worry.”
I decide to believe the words she said so lightly, and I reply with a single word, “Okay.”
”Make sure to stop that guy… I’ll leave the finishing blow to Violet.”
I pressed my hands against my stomach, which was hurting more and more, and crouched down right there.
I sheathed my katana, groaned, and lay flat on the ground.
It wasn’t an act; I was genuinely in pain, tossing and turning.
But I kept I senses sharp… watching Gorge and what was happening around me.
”Alright! Time to give it another shot!”
For a moment, Gorge dropped his sword stance, and using his left hand, he smacked his own cheek, then got ready to hold the sword with both hands again.
──In a stance that looked full of openings, the ‘high stance’.
(Gorge, you… what are you…!?)
As I feared, the air around them was swirling intensely, and the killing intent was focusing on Gorge.
In the next moment, the tall demon appeared right in front of Gorge.
Its claw──sunk deep into Gorge’s belly…
