Chapter 677 Magic Armor Gun

(Eluda’s POV)
The Clan house workshop was filled with the heat, a mix of iron and wood.
I got right to work here after returning from the dungeon, but the workshop is always so calming.
Grandpa seemed to have been working for a while, Aluda and Meluda too, and Eluda joined in right after coming back from the exploration yesterday. The new ‘shield’ crafting was nearing its climax, just needing the magic enchantment.
So, Grandpa and Eluda were taking a breather when the heavy workshop door creaked open. Standing there was Ms. Frieda, Vice-Captain of ‘Rose Hip’.
”I have something I want you to see.”
Her Easterners-style black hair swayed in the dim workshop light.

”It’s this…”
Ms. Frieda’s voice was soft, but laced with tension. She held out a long, black cylinder, about 1.5 meters long. The surface was carved with intricate patterns of vines, and one end looked like a crossbow stock.
It wasn’t just the appearance; the object itself radiated an obviously alien aura.
Grandpa reached out his gnarled hands and took the cylinder. He adjusted his glasses, furrowed his brow, and squinted, examining it slowly, like he was deciphering an old scroll. Eluda peered over Grandpa’s shoulder too.
(A weapon…I wonder?)
It kind of looks like a crossbow, huh?
”Hmm… it looks like an elongated crossbow, but… there’s no bow part.”
Grandpa’s voice was low, echoing off the workshop walls.
Ms. Frieda stood next to him and began to explain how they acquired the tube.
”It seems like it was something we got when our Helena squad defeated the 19th floor’s floor boss, the ‘Salamander’.”
In the corner of the workshop, Aluda and Meluda were peering over with keen interest, ignoring the steam rising from their teacups on the wooden table.
”The item you guys got there was…”
Aluda opened her mouth, narrowing her eyes as if recalling a memory.
”Yeah, it was a bow. Called the ‘Eagle Eye,’ a relic from an ancient civilization.”
Meluda nodded eagerly, leaning over the table, her voice instantly enlivening the workshop’s atmosphere.
”So, this means this is also an ‘ancient civilization relic’!?”
Eluda’s loud voice echoed through the workshop, drawing everyone’s attention to the black tube in Grandpa’s hand, which seemed to whisper secrets of the ancient civilization with its faintly glowing patterns.
* * *
”Hohoho. You’ve got quite the nostalgic item there!”
”Is that a magic cannon? A trophy from the Great Labyrinth of Raetia?”
With a creak, the workshop door opened again, and Ms. Lilith and Ms. Frejya walked in.
”Do you folks know about this?”
Grandpa was so surprised he shifted his glasses, deepening the wrinkles on his forehead. The sound of their footsteps tapped softly on the stone floor as they approached.
”Oh, I’m quite familiar with it. It’s an excellent weapon that can handle various attributes!”
Ms. Frejya smiled confidently and sat down at the table, her leather boots lightly tapping the floor.
”Well, it seems to have a high running cost. How about lending it to me for a while?”
Ms. Lilith extended her hand gracefully. Her long fingertips seemed to shine brightly in the dimly lit workshop.
Grandpa hesitated for a moment, but soon handed the ‘magic gun’ over to Lilith. Removing his glasses, he stuffed them into his breast pocket and watched her intently with curious eyes. In Ms. Lilith’s hands, the cold metal of the magic gun made a faint clicking sound.
”Here, this turned out like…”
Ms. Lilith’s slender fingers skillfully manipulated the gun’s assembly. With a “Snap!” the barrel and stock folded, revealing a deep hole that ran through to the tip.
”Master Toldo, can you prepare a piece of ‘mithril silver’ to fit this hole?”
Ms. Frejya leaned over the table, pointing at the hole in Ms. Lilith’s magic gun.
”Ah, right. The size should be… about this much? Make sure the tip is sharp!”
Ms. Lilith used her index finger and thumb to indicate a size of about 5 centimeters. Her movements were fluid, almost like a dance.
”Hm… I happen to have a leftover piece from when I made the shield… just wait a moment!”
Grandpa’s voice was lively as he pulled the chair with a thud and disappeared into the back of the workshop. The leather apron fluttered, and scattered iron shavings on the floor made a crunching sound.
* * *
After a while, heavy footsteps returned from the back of the workshop.
”I’ve cut and adjusted it… is this alright?”
In Grandpa’s palm lay a piece of mithril silver. The fragment, shining palely like moonlight, had a sharp tip that glinted as per Ms. Lilith’s instructions.
Ms. Lilith took it and gently enveloped it in her palm. Closing her eyes, she let out a faint sigh. The scent of iron and oil in the workshop seemed to momentarily recede with her quiet focus.
