Chapter 678 Grandma’s Shop

(Kazumi’s POV)
After leaving Haya at the adventurer’s guild stables, Rena and I headed toward the central square of town.
”I want a new bag, but I also want clothes!”
Rena’s voice echoed with excitement, and she gazed at me with sparkling eyes.
”Even though it’s a training camp, you still want to look fashionable, huh!”
I grinned and nodded.
I had planned to go to the ‘Zett Merchant Guild’ today to buy a bag for the ‘magic training camp’ preparations. But because of Rena’s passionate request, we decided to visit a clothing shop first.
The main street was lively with people, likely drawn out by the spring weather. The voices of women carrying baskets and merchants pulling carts echoed, and a cheerful feeling enveloped me.
”If it’s clothes, should we go to Grandma’s shop like usual?”
When I suggested this, Rena’s face lit up brightly.
”Let’s go, let’s go!”
Rena grabbed my hand tightly and ran off excitedly, like a little puppy. I was pulled along, nearly stumbling, but laughed as I followed. Our hair swayed with the precious ribbons we received from Hiroya. They were made from scraps of fabric that Grandma had used to make our yukatas. Just recalling that joyful moment warmed my heart.
Since partnering with the ‘Zett Merchant Guild,’ Grandma’s shop has expanded its selection to include trends from the Royal Capital. It feels like peeking into a treasure chest—thrilling!
(As a magician, I know this is just a training camp to get stronger…)
Honestly, I feel like I’m going on a field trip. My heart is pounding, and I can’t hold back my smile! Holding Rena’s hand, I briskly moved along the cobblestone path, rushing toward Grandma’s shop.

When I burst into the shop, the scent of cloth and dye filled the air. Colorful clothes were displayed on wooden shelves, and the spring sunlight made the fabric sparkle brightly.
”Rena like this! Grandma, I’ll take this!”
Rena chose a vivid sky-blue dress, her favorite color. As expected, it suited her bright smile perfectly, like capturing a piece of the spring sky.
”I’ll go with this one!”
I picked a deep green dress, another favorite of mine. The smooth fabric felt comfortable against my skin. These seem to be the latest designs from the Royal Capital, and both dresses have delicate embroidery at the hem.
”You little ladies are already famous magicians in Raetia. It’s nice to see this too.”
Grandma cheerfully brought out a hooded cloak from the back. Mine was a vivid red, while Rena’s was made of pure white fabric, fluttering gently.
””Wow!””
We shouted in unison. When we put on the cloaks, the light fabric snugly fitted our shoulders. Looking in the mirror, we looked just like magicians from a story.
”Hmm, both of you look great!”
Grandma’s confident approval brought us full smiles. It looked cool and magician-like! Well, technically, we really are magicians.
”But isn’t it a little hot with these outfits now?”
When I tilted my head, Grandma mischievously narrowed her eyes with a smile.
”Actually… this cloak isn’t just fabric.”
I heard this fabric is special, excavated from the ‘Great Labyrinth Raetia.’ The cloth brought to the ‘Zett Merchant Guild’ is faintly imbued with magical power and was said to have been sold cheaply to Grandma’s tailor.
”Apparently, this fabric keeps the wearer’s temperature comfortable. It’s no problem in the cold winter or the hot summer!”
When Grandma winked, she looked just like the old witch from a story, and I couldn’t help but laugh.
