Chapter 238 The Dragon’s Dragon-Smasher

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

To make a long story short, the dragon that dropped out of the sky was successfully taken down, thanks to everyone’s desperate efforts. Miraculously, the city and its people escaped any major devastation. However, the sheer scale of the threat left the entire Royal Capital shaking.

I was no exception. Throughout that three-day ordeal, I found myself pacing the floor incessantly, clutching my daughter Momo. She was a total nightmare the whole time, unless she was either fast asleep or nursing…

Every time a roar or a distant boom echoed through the air, I felt my heart stop. When the beastman adventurer Laika and the elf adventurer Tania finally trudged back-covered in soot and scratches-my knees buckled in pure, bone-deep relief.

Currently, the city is focused on clearing the dragon’s carcass and investigating why the hell it attacked. Naturally, there’s a heated debate about its potential link to the Stampede, but…

”Kento, look… could you maybe give us some space? I don’t hate the attention, but being stuck to us twenty-four-seven is getting a little… much.”

”She’s right. You haven’t let go since we got back, except for when we’re actually working. Even then, you turn into a total clinger the second we try to head out the door…”

I had clearly developed a serious case of post-traumatic stress. But can you blame me? If I’m not holding onto them, I’m plagued by the anxiety that they’ll just vanish into another bloodbath.

For the record: right now, I have Tania’s arm locked in mine, while Laika is pinned firmly to my lap. Occasionally, I try to snag Lily and Momo into the pile too, but Lily has a knack for slipping away the second my “cuddle-lock” passes the one-hour mark.

Maybe it’s because they were by my side during the attack, but I don’t feel quite as neurotic about them as I do about the two frontline fighters. Still, how Lily manages her escapes remains a mystery.

”More to the point, what are you even writing while you’re holding us hostage…?”

”This? It’s the blueprint for the ultimate anti-Stampede weapon.”

”Wait, what? This… this is just a ‘──────’, isn’t it?”

”Kento, seriously, even for you, this is a bit over the line…”

”Listen, it started as a joke, but the more I looked at it, the more I realized this shape is the pinnacle of efficiency.”

”No way… Hmmm. So this part connects here…? Ah, I see, an amplification unit is mounted at the base. I guess it really is true that genius and idiocy are two sides of the same coin…”

”Sis, I think you’ve got those two sides backward.”

Tania and Laika bickered as they peered over the blueprints. Honestly, I’ve decided to stop being polite. I’m just going to finish the thing and present it as a finished product.

I haven’t received official clearance yet, so I can’t call on the help of Satsuki or the Coalmine Kushe, but I’m going to build as much as I can on my own.

If the bureaucracy drags its feet, I might just have to “conquer” them in bed to pry the necessary techniques out of them… It’s not a path I want to take, but if it comes down to it, I’m prepared to go there.

When I think back to the war, Tania and the others suffered because I was too busy being “hesitant.” I won’t make that mistake again. Besides, I suspect it’s only a matter of time before Her Majesty the Queen sends a formal request for a “decisive weapon” anyway.

”By the way, Laika, are you really okay? You were shaking like a leaf before the dragon actually showed up…”

”Oh, that? Yeah, I’m fine. The dragon itself wasn’t a big deal. Once I realized I had to protect you, Kento, the shaking just… stopped.”

 ”Really…?”

Laika wagged her tail on my lap, looking quite pleased as she nuzzled against me and took in my scent. I tilted my head, stroking her hair.

”Don’t worry, Kento. After all, it was Laika who dealt the finishing blow.”

”What?! Since when? Nobody told me!”

 ”Geez, Sis, stop it…”

I had no idea Laika had distinguished herself so much. She seemed strangely embarrassed, but I gave her head an extra-thorough rubbing to show my pride. Tania, however, let a rare, mischievous smirk cross her face.

”Kukuku, it was a masterpiece. Just as the dragon was taking flight, she leapt up and delivered a direct, crushing strike right to its crotch. Even I’ve never heard of a dragon being taken down like that.”

”Uuu… Look, I looked up, and I saw a ‘bulge’ right there… It was a total opening! I just thought, ‘Hey, maybe that’ll work’…”

”Wait, I have several questions here, but… do dragons even have a ‘bulge’?”

”Indeed they do. It’s a vital area, so it’s usually protected by thick scales, with the ‘unit’ itself sliding out of a slit when needed. But those scales form quite a prominent mound. Want to go see for yourself? Since she’s the hero of the hour, we might even be able to claim it as a material. Though, it’s probably been flattened quite a bit by now…”

In the “Reject Pile” of my shop, there’s a product called the Dragon Ddo-Buddy. I designed it using anatomical reference books, and even at 1/8th scale, the thing is massive.

If I saw the real thing, I might get the inspiration I need to develop a more… faithful product. The only question is whether I could keep a straight face while staring at a mangled dragon-cock.

”The look on the men’s faces was the best part,” Tania continued. “One second they were all grim and stoic; the next, they’ve all turned pale, clutching their own groins. They watched that dragon spiral down with looks of pure, agonizing sympathy, whispering, ‘Oh god, not like that…’”

”Stop narrating it so vividly! Besides, that was just the final hit! Your attacks and everyone else’s did way more damage!”

”Kukuku, no need for such modesty, Laika the Dragon-Smasher!”

 ”SIS!!!”

It seems Laika had officially upgraded her title from “Fierce Dog.” As she squirmed on my lap, I felt a sudden, phantom twinge of sympathetic pain.

I thought about letting her down, but she shot me a glare so intense I immediately went back to stroking her head to keep her happy.

Well, the ridiculous conversation did its job; I felt much more grounded now. I couldn’t stay a shut-in forever.

”Anyway, I’m fine. But honestly, Kento… you really need to start worrying about yourself.”

 ”Eh? What do you mean?”

”Well, you just spent three days fighting a high-tier threat, and now you’ve been clinging to us like this for hours…”

”Yeah. I’m pretty sure things are about to get ‘insane.’ We’ll try to hold back, but…”

An ominous vibe settled over the room as Tania and Laika look at me with genuine pity. What was there to be worried about?

”Uh… what are you guys talking about?”

 ”Our Hatsujouki (heat), obviously.”

 ”Heat?”

I tilted my head. I knew about the monthly biological urge beastmen experienced. As her mate, I’d helped her through it plenty of times.

In fact, after that whole “Ddo-Buddy Trial” mess, I’d practically become a scholar on female beastman physiology. I figured I knew everything there was to know about it.

”Ah, that’s right… Kento, you haven’t actually been with her after a real adventure, have you?”

”Now that you mention it… after the war, we took care of business before we even got home…”

The two of them continued talking over my head. From what I could gather, this next heat was going to be on a whole different level.

”Think about it: the heat is driven by reproductive instinct. If the body senses a life-threatening crisis, the drive to leave descendants behind becomes exponentially more violent.”

”Exactly. It’s a classic problem for beastmen adventurers. You finish a big rank-up quest, and the next heat is a total nightmare.”

 ”Wait… so you’re saying after fighting a literal dragon…?”

”That’s what we’ve been telling you! It’s going to be insane. And since you’re trying for a baby, we’re not using any contraceptives, right? You survived the fight of your life, then you spent hours acting like a clinger to prime the pump… and now it’s time to make babies. Sorry, Kento, but you better pray for your stamina.”

I slowly, carefully, lifted Laika off my lap. This time, she didn’t growl; she let me go with a look of silent, predatory anticipation.

Without a word, I turned to my workbench and began frantically mixing every high-grade stamina potion and potency booster I had in stock.”

 Summary:

Following a sudden dragon attack on the Royal Capital, Kento’s party returns victorious with minimal town damage. Kento, traumatized by the event, develops a ‘clinging’ habit toward Tania and Laika, much to their playful annoyance. During a blueprint discussion, Tania reveals that Laika dealt the finishing blow by crushing the dragon’s crotch. The chapter ends with the girls warning Kento that surviving a lethal threat triggers an ‘insane’ mating season, prompting him to brew stamina potions for survival.

 Character Insight:

Kento shows growth in his resolve to stop ‘hesitating’—a trauma response from the previous war. However, his psychological fragility is humorously contrasted with his physical impending doom. Laika’s growth is highlighted through her overcoming instinctual fear of dragons to protect Kento, which in turn triggers a more primitive reproductive drive. The power dynamic shifts from Kento being the ‘protector’ of his family to him being the ‘prey’ of the looming heat cycle.

 Behind the Scene:

The author uses the ‘Stampede’ as a recurring looming threat to justify the ‘ecchi’ progression. The term ‘Dragon Ddo-Buddy’ refers to ‘Onahole’ (male mas***bation aid), a core element of the story’s setting in an adult goods shop.

 —

 T/L:

1 Stampede: A phenomenon in isekai fantasy where monsters surge en masse from dungeons or wild areas to attack human settlements.

2 Dragon Ddo-Buddy: A localized/fictional brand of onahole (mas***bation aid) designed to mimic dragon anatomy.

3 Dragon-Smasher: A pun involving the slang usage of ‘dragon’ to refer to male genitalia and the literal crushing of a beast.

4 Hatsujouki: The Japanese term for ‘estrus’ or ‘mating season,’ typically applied to beastmen in this genre.

Notes:

• Momo – The newborn daughter of Kento and Lily. She has pink hair and her father’s ear and eyebrow shapes.

• Laika – The beastwoman dog.

• Tania – An Elf adventurer who, despite her race’s reputation for low sex drive, is secretly quite passionate. She initially seemed ‘wasted’ (emotionally dry) to her friend Raika, but was easily introduced to the pleasure-items sold at ‘Harvest.’ She is easily embarrassed and attempts to maintain a dignified facade, despite her recent, frequent purchases. She wears practical but light armor over a simple cloth tunic and short pants, highlighting her grace and agility. Her primary relationship is one of friendly senior-junior with Raika.

• Kento – The owner of the magic tool shop ‘Harvest,’ which discretely sells adult goods. He’s a former overworked, ordinary salaryman from modern Japan who was suddenly transported (isekai’d) to this fantasy world. He has dark hair and an unremarkable appearance, typically wearing a plain, slightly suspicious-looking shop owner’s clothes looks like Kazuma Satou from certain series. He has a minimal amount of magic power, enough to craft his specialty items.

• Lily – the sl*ve and primary experiment subject for the magic shop, ‘Harvest.’ She has striking pink hair, Blue eyes, medium breasts, which the Protagonist associates with being ‘wanton’. She has a working knowledge of magic, which she kept hidden from the slave trader.

• Satsuki – A talented Court Mage who was forced to analyze the shop’s adult magic tools. Miranda’s granddaughter. Now she’s the new worker at Harvest, a development she finds both humiliating and surprisingly fulfilling due to the rapid progress in her research under Kento’s guidance. Has long black hair, palace mage robe, and staff.

• Kushe – The Chief Mage of the Coalmine Kingdom. She has dark green hair grown out haphazardly and wears a mage robe loosely over her shoulders. She has a blunt, informal, and somewhat insensitive personality, focused on her ‘thinking experiments.’
