Chapter 26 Interlude: A Private Room and the Banned Toy

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Some time after Kento, with Tania’s help, began mass-producing the “Tremble-D**do-Buddy,” in a certain location within the Royal Capital of Canarias, a certain woman was listening to her attendant’s report with a severe furrow in her brow.

”So, you acquired that item, then…?” asked Cecile, her voice sharp and authoritative.

”Yes, Madam. It has been brought to you without incident,” Muse stated, her tone flat.

Cecile, who appeared to be in her mid-twenties, possessed long golden hair that shimmered brightly, but her eyes were piercing and commanding, intimidating anyone who dared to look. Her attire was beyond exquisite—too exquisite, in fact. The white gown, detailed with delicate gold embroidery, seemed to be her casual wear, yet she carried its weight with absolute ease.

The luxury wasn’t confined to her dress. The enormous, four-poster canopy bed dominating the room was a testament to extravagance, with incredibly detailed, custom carvings. The sheets were a blinding, wrinkle-free white. Every piece of furniture, from the gold-inlaid shelves to the exquisitely crafted desk and chairs, was bespoke. The intricate, high-quality carpet must have taken dozens of hands to weave. Each item in this private room could likely buy out Harvest two or three times over.

Yet, the woman at the center of this fairy-tale opulence maintained a fearsome, unyielding expression as she gazed at her attendant. The maid, Muse, who looked about the same age, had severe black hair and eyes to match, and was dressed in a crisp maid uniform. She calmly presented a small object to her mistress.

”Oh, is this the… item?” Cecile inquired, picking it up.

”It is, indeed. This is the Tremble-D**do-Buddy that has been discreetly circulating among the common folk,” Muse stated, her expression a perfect mask.

”Pfft…!” Cecile couldn’t help but splutter in amusement. The very tips of the stoic attendant’s ears were the only part of her that betrayed a faint blush.

”Heh. Heh heh. Hmph, I—I am terribly sorry. The name is just so… unbearable. I simply couldn’t help myself,” Cecile tried to apologize, stifling a giggle.

”Do you have any idea how much trouble I went through to obtain this? If this is your attitude, I shall refuse any future assignments, Cecile-sama,” Muse stated, her tone dangerously low.

”I’m sorry, I’m sorry! I said I was sorry! I truly cannot afford to have you sulk right now; forgive me, Muse!” Cecile pleaded, quickly backtracking.

The stern-faced pair, whose serious countenances were apparently their default state rather than a sign of actual anger, briefly bickered before turning their attention to the Tremble-D**do-Buddy resting on the desk.

”So, what was the shop’s name again?” Cecile mused, turning the cylindrical device over in her hands.

”It is the magic shop Harvest, Cecile-sama.”

”Right, right. A rather suggestive name. I wonder what exactly they’re trying to harvest?” Cecile pondered, a wry smile playing on her lips.

”I wouldn’t know. He didn’t seem like a shopkeeper capable of doing anything quite so grand. His personality, however… I would politely describe it as utterly depraved,” Muse commented, a slight hitch in her tone.

”Hahaha! Did—did he actually force you to shout the product name?” Cecile pressed, trying to suppress another laugh.

”Understood. I will take the next month off,” Muse immediately replied, her face flat.

”W-Wait! That was a joke, wasn’t it?” Cecile cried out.

”That was the second time. There will not be a third,” Muse warned, her eyes narrowed.

The pair, engaging in their familiar comedic routine, eventually settled down. Cecile, realizing she was truly pushing her luck with Muse, shifted the conversation back to the object at hand.

”Alright, so how exactly is this thing used? Well, I mean, the shape and the name make the insertion part pretty obvious, but…” Cecile shook the Tremble-D**do-Buddy in her hand. It certainly trembled, but that couldn’t be the whole story, could it?

”See the small protrusion on the base? Push that firmly,” Muse instructed, pointing a slender finger.

”Ah, this?” Cecile peered at the base. Pushing the bump, she heard a definitive click, and the Tremble-D**do-Buddy instantly began to vibrate with a high-pitched, whirring sound that sounded like a “Veeeeeet!” Surprised, Cecile nearly dropped it onto the desk but managed to grip it tightly. The intense sensation hummed up her arm.

”Oh my… what an… indescribable stimulus,” Cecile murmured, her sharp eyes widening slightly.

”The owner calls it the vibration function. Apparently, the area near the tip vibrates most intensely, and it is meant to be applied to one’s sensitive areas,” Muse explained.

”Ah, I see… yes, that certainly seems useful,” Cecile conceded, nodding thoughtfully.

Despite her tough façade and high position, Cecile was still a young woman with needs, as was the expressionless Muse. Both women fell into a brief, telling silence, lost in the sudden, shared visualization of using the Tremble-D**do-Buddy.

”…Well, that’s quite something,” Cecile finally sighed, rubbing her thighs together reflexively.

”Yes. There is no doubt that people would purchase this, even enduring that shopkeeper’s smug face,” Muse agreed, also shifting her weight and swallowing hard.

After watching the “Veeeeeet!” hum of the device for a moment, Cecile silently clicked the switch off, bringing them back to the formal investigation.

”Have we managed to decipher its mechanism yet?” Cecile asked, her voice returning to its business pitch.

”We are currently working on it. We bought extras to dismantle and analyze the contents. The mechanism called the switch isn’t complicated, but we haven’t been able to identify the crucial vibrating material. Moreover, the material making up the main body is apparently completely baffling to our experts,” Muse reported.

”Hmm, the court magicians can’t even identify it? Can we get a lead from the supply chain?” Cecile wondered aloud.

”It’s possible if it’s a special material, but digging too deep into that shop’s sourcing would raise too many flags. Their main suppliers appear to be the Dusk Merchant Guild and the Adventurer’s Guild.”

”Well, they aren’t going to just sell off customer information easily, are they?” Cecile sighed, leaning back in her seat.

”No, ma’am. Furthermore, even from the fragmented information we’ve gathered, the items that shop acquires are numerous and unusual. Even if we knew the exact item list, isolating this specific material would take a considerable amount of time.”

”I understand. Continue the analysis. I also want to keep probing their supply chain, but ensure they do not discover I am the one interested,” Cecile commanded.

”Understood. I will reinforce that order with the subordinates,” Muse affirmed, giving a sharp nod.

Cecile let out a soft sigh of relief. This was a messy job, but perhaps she could finally take a breather. Dealing with magic items and potions related to sexuality was always difficult. Due to their nature, they often led to crimes, and those who sold them illicitly were frequently targeted for crackdown.

Yet, here was someone so brazenly selling them out in the open. Kento might see it as discreet commerce, but to those who knew the underworld, his attitude was astonishingly public. Of course, that was the view of those involved in shady businesses; to the general public, Harvest was still a thoroughly underground establishment. Kento’s shop existed in that subtle, perfect balance between light and shadow.

Cecile had been cautious at first, even suspecting a trap. But as it turned out, while it wasn’t a business one could openly endorse, the shop wasn’t breaking any laws or causing public disorder. Harvest’s operation was, strangely enough, quite clean.

In fact, a few greedy merchant guilds or cunning retailers were far more nefarious. Sure, the shop owner might be using his position to satisfy some personal fetishes, but that wasn’t something Cecile needed to concern herself with.

”So, the conclusion is that we maintain observation for now?” Muse summarized.

”Yes. But what the Church will do is another matter entirely,” Cecile acknowledged.

”In that event, what is your instruction?” Muse pressed.

”Hm? Why should I care what happens? I see no need to intervene on its behalf,” Cecile countered, thinking of the many issues she’d had to deal with that were far more pressing. There was no need to pick a fight with the Church just to protect one shop, she thought.

”But… already, a number of our subordinates are avid users,” Muse stated, delivering the unexpected blow.

”What? Is that true?” Cecile exclaimed, sitting up straight.

”Yes. The maids are one thing, but it doesn’t stop there. Users are found in the Dark Division and even within the Knight Order. Furthermore, several sharp-eyed nobles have also acquired them, and even a few major retailers have fanatical customers.”

”Good heavens, what has become of the chastity of the women in our nation?” Cecile groaned, rubbing her temples.

”I don’t know. I don’t think there’s been a sudden increase in dissolute women. There simply aren’t many male prostitutes available, and there was a clear demand to fill,” Muse rationalized.

”…Very well. If it looks like it’s going to escalate into a major problem, approach that perverted shop owner before then. Whether we protect him or eliminate him… we’ll decide that when the time comes.”

”Understood,” Muse assented. “And while we’re at it, since the product is so popular, would you like to sample the merchandise that has generated so many ardent users?”

”Huh? No… well, perhaps… Ugh, yes, alright,” Cecile stammered, caught completely off guard.

Muse, without waiting for a firm answer, placed the acquired items before Cecile: various aphrodisiacs, several lotions, and a selection of differently shaped Tremble-D**do-Buddy devices…

That night, Cecile was finally freed from the burden of her stressful duties, allowing her to release some of her daily frustrations. And it wasn’t long until her trusted attendant, Muse, came to be known as a regular customer of the magic shop, Harvest.

 Summary:

The powerful noblewoman Cecile and her stoic maid Muse review Kento’s controversial Tremble-D**do-Buddy product. After a humorous exchange over the item’s name and Muse’s risk in acquiring it, they test the vibrating device. Cecile’s team cannot analyze the core material, but they discover the product’s massive popularity, even among high-status people like knights and other nobles. Cecile decides to keep Kento’s shop under surveillance, planning to intervene only if the Church escalates the situation. The scene ends with Muse offering Cecile the products to sample, leading to both women becoming secret users.

 Character Insight:

Cecile’s external authority clashes with her internal, relatable feminine needs, showing she is not just a cold executive. Her pragmatism over morality (letting Kento run his business because it’s ‘clean’) is a key part of her character. Muse’s dedication to her mistress extends to acquiring the most embarrassing items, cementing her role as the ultimate loyal confidante and later, a stealthy regular customer.

 Behind the Scene:

This chapter establishes the political tension surrounding Kento’s shop. The Church is a moral threat, but Cecile’s interest represents a potential, powerful ally (or foe). The fact that the highest tiers of society, including military personnel, are now dependent on Kento’s products provides him with an unexpected, high-level shield against simple crackdown. The substitution of ‘Tremble-Ddo-Buddy’ to ‘Tremble-D**do-Buddy’ was made to adhere to the rating while preserving the comedic and plot element of a suggestive product name.
