Chapter 284 Final Confirmation

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

The “Holy Labor Corps”¹ and the subjugation force had successfully joined up and were now pushing further west. As the ranks swelled, so did the friction. A series of heated exchanges broke out between the “Holy Laborers”-men dedicated to the most grueling paths of asceticism-and the pack of dog-beastmen, whose culture was considerably more liberal regarding matters of the flesh.

”Gah! I-I beg of you, cover those thighs at once…!” one monk stammered. “That… that suppleness! It’s too much for us to bear!”

”Eh? If you want to look, just look,” a beastman girl shrugged. “It’s not like it’s gonna wear out or anything. I don’t mind!”

”Guaaaah! Stop! Stop wagging your tail and your backside at the same time! Purge these lewd thoughts! Begone, worldly desires!” the monk cried out.

Elsewhere, a different kind of drama unfolded.

”Hey! What’s with that goofy grin on your face!?” a woman snapped. “We had a deal, remember?! You said if we survived this trip, you’d undergo ‘Ultimate Hardcore Training’ with me! I was actually looking forward to it…!”

”K-kuh… I can’t help it!” the man groaned. “My eyes… they have a mind of their own! And please, stop pressing your chest against me! I’m so high-strung right now that even a stiff breeze might set me off…!”

”Aww, look at you, big guy,” a beastman observer teased. “If you’ve already got a ‘mate,’ you really ought to say so. Otherwise, don’t blame us if one of the girls in ‘heat’ decides to claim you, okay?”

 ”H- ‘Heat’…!?” the man gasped. “What a seductive… no, what a terrifying concept! Ungh…!”

It was a scene reminiscent of the ancient myths-the very sights that once led to the persecution of the beastmen. However, in this age, the Church of Demon-Subjugation couldn’t afford to purge them for the sake of appearances. Consequently, the Holy Laborers were forced into a state of even more agonizing penance.

Ironically, their combat prowess grew in direct proportion to their frustration. Battles on the road and night-time skirmishes were handled with brutal efficiency. The only downside was the members’ bloodshot eyes and a general aura of “stay away,” which made them look like a band of crazed veterans-or perhaps just men who had reached their absolute breaking point.

Meanwhile, the “White Light” Sister Amelia had described-the “Ddo-Buddy Cannon”²-had become a massive topic of debate within the corps.

”The… ‘Ddo-Buddy Cannon’?” Priest Samarefuoso laughed weakly. “Powered by a ‘Testicular Circuit’³ and an ‘Erection Mechanism’? Tell me this is a joke. Please.”

”Oh my, how… naughty,” Mother Marian cooed. “It sounds just like him, doesn’t it? Truly troublesome…♡”

”Setting aside the name,” the female knight Kuroalmante interjected, “we must acknowledge its devastating power, even if it isn’t technically ‘Divine Light.’”

”Actually,” the Martial Monk Kattsu countered, “that magic weapon is anatomically symbolic! Throughout history, a man’s ‘lance’ has been the symbol of his strength! Ancient texts even say that if you damage the ‘source’ for the sake of celibacy, you actually lose your vitality!”

The Priest retreated into a dry, hollow laugh. Mother Marian continued to writhe with a look that was anything but troubled. Kuroalmante struggled to remain logical, while Kattsu found solace in a theory that was biologically questionable but spiritually satisfying.

These four reactions mirrored the divide within the entire Holy Labor Corps. However, the mood shifted entirely when the cannon was finally unveiled to take down another Lesser Dragon.

”Testicular Circuit: Charged! Here it comes!” the operator shouted.

 ”**FIRE!**”

SPLATTER! GUSH! WHIIIIIIINE!

”Oh… how magnificent!” a monk whispered.

”The barrel is glowing! It’s… it’s the most beautiful sight…!” a sister gasped.

”Look at that power! With this, we can actually win! We can survive!” another soldier shouted.

The motivations varied, but the Holy Laborers were universally awestruck. It was the same reaction seen in the Nixfen territory-the city folk and the beastmen had reacted exactly the same way. If anything, the monks were becoming even more obsessed.

Soon, the soldiers were asking to “worship” the Ddo-Buddy Cannon. Specifically, the female members began requesting to use the cannon for their nightly “training”-not for any physical act, they clarified, but simply to offer their “prayers” while gazing upon its majestic barrel.

Though denied for security reasons, a cult-like devotion to the Cannon began to take root-a trend that seemed impossible to stop.

As the chaos finally subsided, General Oromanso called a meeting. The attendees were the General himself, Mother Marian, the beastman leader Slop, and the nobleman Martin PopolCount.

”Thank you all for coming,” Oromanso said. “The military has just shared a report. To put it bluntly: based on Count Popol’s prediction, it appears ‘Zil Meina’ has already made her move.”

Martin nodded silently. Marian and Slop didn’t look surprised; they looked like people who had finally received confirmation of a nagging fear.

”It makes sense…♡” Marian murmured. “Meeting two Lesser Dragons in such a short time after seeing none for so long? It couldn’t be anything else…♡”

”My nose told me the same,” Slop growled. “Those Lesser Dragons smelled ‘heavy.’ Not like normal monsters, and not even like themselves. They reeked of something else. Two of ’em. It matches what you told me before.”

The wicked female dragon, Zil Meina, and the Old Dragon of the Southern Forest, Ur Hamit. Instead of fighting each other, they had apparently joined forces and were heading straight for them.

”I’ve gotta ask the Count here,” Slop said, turning to Martin. “How did a human like you pick up on it?”

”Marian mentioned the dragons,” Martin replied, “but honestly… for the last few days, I haven’t been able to stop shaking. The creeps won’t leave me.”

 ”So… a hunch?” Slop asked.

 ”Yes. A hunch,” Martin said.

”Heh! I like it!” Slop barked, slamming a hand onto Martin’s shoulder. “For a soft-skin, you’ve got the instincts of a hunter!”

Martin winced at the impact but continued. “There’s more evidence. Since the ‘creeps’ started, the migration of monsters has shifted heavily toward the east. The larger predators are hiding, and even the smaller animals are attacking us out of pure, blind terror. They’re running from something.”

Marian nodded. She had noticed it too. Following the traditions of the “Demon-Purge Pilgrimage”, they had tried to hunt large monsters, but the woods were unnervingly empty.

This matched the Church’s ancient records perfectly. As one approaches a truly great calamity, the ecology of the land twists. Some hide; others lose their fear of man because they are focused on a much larger threat. And the records were very clear about what happened next.

”So,” Marian said, her playful tone finally gone, “you’re saying that further west, a ‘Stampede’ has already begun…♡?”

Martin nodded. This wasn’t the small-scale skirmish the subjugation force had seen earlier. This was a total collapse. Thousands of monsters, driven mad by fear, trampling every town and village in their path-a literal tidal wave of claws and fangs.

Once a Stampede passed, nothing was left. And any town that miraculously survived the initial wave would be crushed by the Great Dragons following in its wake.

”We have to move,” Oromanso said, his tone heavy. “Our people are suffering. Our fellow lords are fighting for their lives. Tell me now… are you with us?”

He looked to Marian and Slop. As leaders of their own respective people, they gave him a single, resolute nod.

 Summary:

The Holy Labor Corps and subjugation force unite, facing cultural friction with beastmen. The Ddo-Buddy Cannon is officially unveiled, sparking a bizarre religious fervor among the ascetic monks. A strategic meeting reveals that the great dragons Zil Meina and Ur Hamit have allied, triggering a massive ‘Stampede’ of monsters to the west.

 —

 Trivia:

 - The Holy Laborers are literally growing stronger because of their s*xual frustration (suppression increases combat efficiency).

 - The Ddo-Buddy Cannon is not a holy relic of the church, but an ‘adult good’ magic weapon.

 - The female members of the corps want to worship the cannon barrel, establishing a new cult-like following.

 - Martin’s ‘creeps’ are a physical warning sign of the approaching dragon-led calamity.

 - The Stampede is not just a migration; it’s a total ecological collapse where animals forget their fear of humans

 —

 Character Insight:

Mother Marian shows a rare shift from her usual playful, flirty demeanor to serious concern when the word ‘Stampede’ is mentioned. Martin PopolCount proves his worth as a ‘human sensor’ for danger, gaining the respect of the beastman leader Slop.

 —

 Behind the Scenes:

The author uses the phallic ‘Ddo-Buddy Cannon’ as a satire of religious symbols, showing how easily suppressed ascetic groups can turn a vulgar object into a divine icon if it provides power and a focus for their ‘training’.
