Chapter 288 Death Match ②
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”””EJACULATE!!!!”””
SHLU-THRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!!
The voices of Satsuki, Kushe, and Marsetta rose in a singular, piercing chorus. From the “Ddo-Buddy Cannon¹,” a massive, viscous torrent of white light erupted.
The beam struck true, tearing through the breast of the wicked dragoness, Zil Meina. It shredded her iron-hard scales, incinerated the meat within, and burst through her spine, lancing into the heavens. But the mages did not slacken their assault.
”””LET IT GOOOOOOOOOO!!!!”””
SHWIIIIIIII-RRRRRRRRRRR-SPLAAAASH!!!!
Satsuki threw her body over the barrel, wrenching it sideways. The beam followed her lead, carving a jagged arc through the sky and gouging a hollow cavern into Zil Meina’s chest.
”Not yet!!!!” Satsuki screamed.
SHLU-THRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!!
With a raw cry, Satsuki forced the cannon downward, disemboweling the beast exactly as they had planned. She traced a final, meticulous circle, ensuring that the eggs sired by the ancient dragon Ur Hamit were utterly obliterated within her womb.
G-G-G-GRAAAAAA-G-G-GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Zil Meina shrieked-a sound that was neither roar nor cry, but a grinding of tectonic plates and screeching metal. It was the sound of the world ending.
Soldiers surrounding the carriage holding the “Ddo-Buddy Cannon” clutched their ears in agony. Horses, maddened by terror, bucked and kicked as their handlers fought desperately to restrain them.
Thud… splat…
Thud-thud-thud-thud-thud-thud-thud!!!
A rain of gore began to pelt the earth, massive globs of dragon blood drowning the battlefield.
”Ngh…!” Satsuki groaned.
”Aaah…!” Kushe cried.
”Kh…!” Marsetta grunted.
The three remained anchored to the cannon, their hands occupied by the constant flow of mana, enduring the deafening roar and the crimson downpour. Only when they were certain the dragoness had suffered a mortal blow did the white light finally flicker and die. The entire exchange had lasted barely twenty seconds.
”””””RETREAT! EVERYBODY RUNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!”””””
The command swept through the ranks as they scrambled back, veering away from the main supply line to avoid a collision. Almost simultaneously, the ancient dragon realized his young, beautiful mate was plummeting toward the dirt.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-!!!!
It was a roar of pure, unadulterated grief-or perhaps absolute fury. Overlapping with the cries of the Lesser Dragons, the sound pressure alone was a physical blow. The beastmen, gifted with sensitive hearing, were hit the hardest; General Oromanso and the dog-beastman Chief Slop buckled, nearly collapsing from the sonic shock.
””KEEP MOVING! DON’T YOU DARE STOP!!!!”” Oromanso and Slop shouted in unison.
Though their voices were nearly swallowed by the din, the order rippled through the ranks like a wildfire.
”PREPARE FOR THE SECOND VOLLEY!!!!” Satsuki yelled.
””READY!”” Kushe and Marsetta replied.
Aboard the jolting carriage, the two mages matched Satsuki’s energy. They began the mana-infusion process immediately, their sights set on the vengeful Ur Hamit. They prepared for a third shot, then a fourth, moving with frantic, practiced speed.
””We’re with you, Satsuki!””
”Understood! Firing in three…! Two…! One…!!!” Satsuki counted down.
Their coordination was flawless. But their momentum was about to be shattered.
”””EJACU-Agh!?!?”””
FSHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
A Lesser Dragon dived from the clouds, spewing a gout of flame. As the fire bore down on the exposed mages, Sister Amelia, riding in the neighboring carriage, leaped into the fray.
”Sacred Defense Art!” Amelia cried.
Amelia’s holy barrier slammed into the dragon-breath. She groaned under the staggering weight of the flames, trying to buy the cannon time for one more shot, but-
Z-G-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!
””””Kyaaaaaaah!!!!””””
””””Guh…!?!? Desu!””””
Zil Meina’s massive carcass finally slammed into the earth. The impact sent a localized hurricane of dust and debris tearing through the unit. Carriages flipped, horses were tossed aside, and the entire formation was broken wide open.
The dragons-and Ur Hamit-were not known for mercy.
”Shit! Here comes a big one!!!!”
”Wh-what…?”
The warning came from PopolCount Martin, whose eyes never left the sky even as he dragged himself from the wreckage. He watched in horror as the sky turned a hellish orange.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-!!!!
The ancient dragon unleashed his wrath. This wasn’t the mere spark of a Lesser Dragon; it was a flood of infernal pyre-light, a tide of dragon-breath that threatened to erase them from existence.
”ALL HANDS! SACRED DEFENSE ART!!!!” Marian shouted.
”””YES, MOTHER!!!””” the sisters replied.
Mother Marian’s voice cracked like a whip. She didn’t care about her sand-caked habit as she dropped to her knees. Every member of the Holy Labor Corps, forged by the “Journey of Subduing Demons,” followed her lead.
They wove a secret, ancient formula-one of the few truly divine rituals left to their order.
”””BY THE WILL OF THE DIVINE…!!!”””
A gargantuan shield of light manifested-the “Supreme Sacred Defense.”
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-!!!!
The dragon’s fire slammed into the golden barrier. The shield groaned; cracks spiderwebbed across its surface, but it held. Barely.
There was no time to celebrate. Ur Hamit was already drawing another breath, and the Lesser Dragons were closing in.
”We can’t hold this again! Fire the ‘Ddo-Buddy’ now!!!!” Marian screamed.
Satsuki and her team were already crawling toward the cannon, which had been bucked off the carriage.
”Kushe!” Satsuki called out.
”Kuu-chan!” Marsetta added.
”I’m… I’m fine. Just a bump on the head…” Kushe muttered.
Kushe was clearly shaken. Blood was streaming into her eyes from a deep gash on her brow.
”I’ll stabilize her!” Sister Amelia cried, dragging her own injured leg through the sand.
Satsuki and Marsetta slammed the cannon into the dirt, ignoring the lack of a proper mount. They poured every drop of their remaining mana into the frame. Kushe, supported by Amelia, pressed her trembling hand against the “Testicular Circuit².”
There was no room for finesse now. No third shot. No careful aiming. Ur Hamit wasn’t going to wait.
The ancient dragon’s chest swelled to twice its size. Satsuki didn’t count down. She simply let out a primal roar and unleashed everything.
”””EJACULATEEEEEEEEEEE-!!!!”””
SHLU-THRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!!
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-!!!!
The white beam collided with the dragon’s fire in a violent mid-air struggle. But in the end, it was the “Ddo-Buddy Cannon” that claimed victory-a thick, blindingly white, viscous deluge of light that swallowed the flames and the dragon whole.”,

TL Notes:
Notes:
• Marsetta – A senior court mage and specialist in magical weaponry. She has disheveled hair tied back, wears glasses, and has deep dark circles under her eyes from lack of sleep. She hasn’t eaten in two days and is under heavy pressure to find a countermeasure for the enemy’s weapons.
• Satsuki – A talented Court Mage who was forced to analyze the shop’s adult magic tools. Miranda’s granddaughter. Now she’s the new worker at Harvest, a development she finds both humiliating and surprisingly fulfilling due to the rapid progress in her research under Kento’s guidance. Has long black hair, palace mage robe, and staff.
• Kushe – The Chief Mage of the Coalmine Kingdom. She has dark green hair grown out haphazardly and wears a mage robe loosely over her shoulders. She has a blunt, informal, and somewhat insensitive personality, focused on her ‘thinking experiments.’
• Oromanso – A General serving as the assistant to Duke Roost. Bear beastman.
• Slop – Leader of the hound-kin pack; Laika’s father. Has orange hair and fluffy tail.
• Amelia – The Sister of the Church of Demon-Subjugating, who usually buys from Kento, has light blue hair.
• Martin – Lily’s non-blood-related younger brother. Considered the strongest candidate to succeed the Popol family due to his lineage and manifested ‘power. He has pink hair.
• Marian – A ‘Mother’ and supervisor from the Church of Demon-Subjugation. Her appearance and demeanor defy the Church’s purported ‘chastity,’ instead she has wavy purple long hair, busty, black nun, tear mole under eye, and monroe walk. She has arrived with a clear purpose: to confront Kento about the ‘Devil’s Stick.
