Chapter 316 A New Customer ①

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

It has been a few days since I became the paramour¹ of the Queen. Honestly, that’s quite the headline. Under normal circumstances, it’s a phrase I wouldn’t utter once in my entire life, but through some strange twist of fate, I’ve ended up in an intimate relationship with the Queen of this nation, Cecile Canaria-sama. I don’t exactly mind it; in fact, it’s a tremendous honor.

After our tryst, Cecile-sama had the maid Muse and the Royal Guard Captain Merluza stand watch over the bedroom while she accepted my… “apology,” whispering sweet things like, “Now, it’s just the two of us…”

By the time evening rolled around and I finally tried to take my leave, she was being incredibly adorable. “Are you leaving already…?” “Since you’re here, why not just stay the night?” “When can we meet again…?” She was such a pushover I actually worried if she was going to be okay.

But regardless of her feelings, the real issue was her schedule. She had a mountain of work that had piled up because of her day off. In the end, I gave her a parting kiss as she was being scolded by Muse and headed home.

I should also mention that when I returned, my love slave² Lily-san greeted me with a look of pure satisfaction. “From the look on your face, I’d say it’s mission accomplished. Phew!” She even made a gesture of wiping sweat from her forehead.

Anyway, while I’ve ended up in this relationship with the Queen, my daily life hasn’t really changed much, aside from trying to draft lesson plans for Roland. Apparently, trysts with the Queen are limited to about once a month, so I haven’t received a second summons yet.

According to Muse, who stopped by for an “experiment,” Cecile-sama’s clinginess has increased by about twenty percent. She was also muttering about “hurrying the construction of the underground passage,” so I have a feeling things are going to get busy once the “Kento Palace” starts going up.

In other news, my darling Momo-sama has officially learned how to sit up on her own. Seeing her sitting in the crib I received from the Queen, wobbling back and forth while sucking her finger, is just about the most precious thing in the world.

Momo seems to be growing fast. At this rate, she’ll be crawling before I know it. As expected of my daughter – she’s a total genius. She’s already started on baby food, and being allowed to help with her meals – a task previously monopolized by the Almighty Bosom³ – is deeply heartening.

 ”Ah – ba – uuu!” Momo-sama babbled.

”Yes, yes, Momo-chan! Just wait a little bit longer, okay?” I replied.

Listening to my daughter’s increasingly talkative babbles, I diligently prepped her lunch. Today’s menu was a carrot-like root vegetable. I was serving it as a fine purée. We’re still in the trial phase, so she doesn’t eat much, but her reaction to sweet fruits and veggies is night and day.

These carrots are on the sweeter side, so I should be seeing those sparkling eyes today. To be honest, even when I fed her green veggies, she had this look like “not bad,” looking for all the world like a middle-aged man enjoying a rare delicacy. Maybe she’s just greedy by nature. She certainly doesn’t let go of a n**ips once she’s got a grip on it, either.

It’s a strange thing – just the thought of getting to feed all sorts of delicious things to that tiny, cute mouth makes me giddy. I caught myself humming a tune as I worked.

”Watching him like this, it’s easy to forget this guy is actually the owner of an adult magic item shop,” Tania muttered.

”Right? He’s a better ‘Papa’ than most normal guys. I wonder what’s going on in that head of his?” Laika added.

While they looked after Momo-sama, my lovely elf Tania and our pet dog Laika were having a conversation about me that felt just a little bit rude. I can’t really argue with them, though, since I feel the strangeness of it myself. But hey, it’s all because Momo-sama is just that precious.

By the way, Tania and Laika are mostly over their morning sickness now. In fact, they’re back to work, insisting they’re “perfectly fine,” and they’ve even started inviting me to bed again. Learning from my experience with Lily-san, I’ve been happy to oblige – though we keep things gentle, mostly just cuddling in the nude.

Watching their bellies start to swell slightly fills me with more affection than lust. Lately, I’ve been secretly worried that once Momo-sama grows up a bit more and Tania and the others have their babies, I might actually explode from sheer happiness.

”Here we go, Momo-chan! All done! ♡” I said.

 ”Anbah!” Momo-sama cheered.

Adorable. She is the incarnation of loveliness. The hope and salvation for every living soul in this world. I stroked her pink hair – so like Lily-san’s – and sat her down at the table to start on the carrot paste. That little mouth went numph-numph, a bit of orange dripping from her lip, her big round eyes shining brightly.

Too cute…! I thought my heart was going to give out for a second there. She definitely liked the carrots. Man, I’m glad I’m alive.

”There he goes again,” Tania said.

”He really is doing it again, isn’t he,” Laika agreed.

The two of them watched me writhe in the pure joy of existence with the same look you’d give a seasonal tradition or a sunlit garden. “All’s right with the world,” as they say.

In the middle of that blissful moment, the back doorbell went brring-brring! I was busy trying to soothe Momo-sama, who had jumped at the noise, so Laika shouted, “I’ll get it!” and dashed toward the door.

I appreciate the help, but I really wish she’d remember she’s pregnant and settle down a bit.

”Kento! It’s Sera-chan from the Merchant Guild Tasogare!” Laika called out.

”Oh, Sera-chan? Got it. Tania, sorry, but can you take over Momo’s lunch?” I asked.

”Understood. Leave it to me. Come here, Momo, Mama Tania is going to feed you now,” Tania replied.

Honestly, I’ve started to realize lately that Tania and Laika are just as soft on Momo-sama as I am. Laika probably bolted for the door just to make sure the bell didn’t ring a second time and make her cry.

”Always a pleasure. Sera from the Merchant Guild Tasogare has arrived,” Sera-chan said as I approached.

When I made it to the back door, Sera-chan was indeed waiting. Braids, glasses, freckles – the usual “Sera-chan Special.” She’s stopped wearing those low-cut tops lately, which is a bit of a shame.

”Hey there, thanks for coming by. Wait, is it delivery day already?” I asked.

”No, I’m actually here on a different matter. Did you not hear anything from Lily-san…?” Sera-chan asked.

 ”No…?” I replied.

I pictured the face of Lily-san, who was currently covering the shop, but nothing came to mind. Lily-san isn’t the type to neglect an update, so if she didn’t tell me, it was probably something she thought I’d be better off not knowing.

”I see. She likely wanted to avoid the story getting twisted. To be honest, regarding the time Lily-san visited our office the other day…” Sera-chan began.

Sera-chan’s expression was uncharacteristically grim. But just as she started to speak, I heard a heavy thud-thud-thud from inside the house, and Laika came sprinting back out. Seriously, does this girl have more energy now than before she was pregnant?

”Kento! There’s a customer at the shop!” Laika shouted.

”A customer? I thought Lily-san was handling things,” I said.

”She said it’s someone important and told me to ‘Go get Master!’” Laika explained.

”Look, I’m in the middle of talking to Sera-chan here… Tell them they’ll have to wait,” I said.

”I tried! But she said if Sera-chan is here, I should bring her along too!” Laika added.

Laika tilted her head, looking just as confused as I was. I turned back to Sera-chan to see if she minds the interruption.

”It’s alright,” Sera-chan said, her face tight with tension. “It’s likely regarding the very thing I was about to tell you. Let’s go.”

• Merluza – The Captain of the Royal Guard, a veteran soldier and Lion Beast-person. She testifies to the military necessity and effectiveness of the ‘Tremble Ddo-Buddy’ (which she calls ‘Bob’) for female beast-person soldiers, ensuring job performance isn’t compromised by ‘heat’. Have dull yellow hair, large feline ears, wearing armor, and large scar over the right eye.

• Muse – Cecile’s trusted attendant and chief maid, Muse handles sensitive, discreet tasks like espionage and product acquisition. Have sharp, black eyes, wearing maid uniform, and have expressionless face.

• Kento – The owner of the magic tool shop ‘Harvest,’ which discretely sells adult goods. He’s a former overworked, ordinary salaryman from modern Japan who was suddenly transported (isekai’d) to this fantasy world. He has dark hair and an unremarkable appearance, typically wearing a plain, slightly suspicious-looking shop owner’s clothes looks like Kazuma Satou from certain series. He has a minimal amount of magic power, enough to craft his specialty items.

• Momo – The newborn daughter of Kento and Lily. She has pink hair and her father’s ear and eyebrow shapes.

• Tania – An Elf adventurer who, despite her race’s reputation for low sex drive, is secretly quite passionate. She initially seemed ‘wasted’ (emotionally dry) to her friend Raika, but was easily introduced to the pleasure-items sold at ‘Harvest.’ She is easily embarrassed and attempts to maintain a dignified facade, despite her recent, frequent purchases. She wears practical but light armor over a simple cloth tunic and short pants, highlighting her grace and agility. Her primary relationship is one of friendly senior-junior with Raika.

• Laika – The beastwoman dog.

• Sera – A young, earnest salesperson from the Tasogare Merchant Guild, Kento’s supplier. She is characterized by her braided brown hair, large round glasses, and freckles. She’s serious about her job and easily flustered, especially by Kento’s adult goods business. Looks like Onodera from certain series.
