Chapter 8 The Divine Bow Tarnia’s Utterly Humiliating Guild Hall Encounter

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

I was just talkin’ to Marm, the signboard girl at the Adventurer’s Guild reception, about a new request when the entrance suddenly got all rowdy. Turns out, the renowned adventurer with the fancy nickname, “Tania the Divine Bow,” had just shown up.

Green hair that reminded you of new spring growth. Blue eyes and pointed ears, all on a face so beautiful it seemed completely unreal. It was, without a doubt, a regular customer of my magic item shop, Harvest. Yep, the same Elven adventurer who’d only recently bought a Drill D**do-kun No. 3, Cl**oris Service Edition.

“Tania the Divine Bow…?”

I couldn’t quite connect the image of my store’s embarrassed regular with the figure of a legendary, high-powered adventurer, and a big question mark hung over my head. I mean, yeah, I figured anyone who bought that much of my inventory had some serious skill, but this much?

”Oh, yes,” Marm exclaimed, leaning in with a gossipy tone. “Apparently, she’s a peculiar Elf who’s been an adventurer since way, way before the current Guild Master’s great-great-great grandfather. Long before that, even!”

”Huh… So she’s, like, the great-great-grand-senior of absolutely everyone here?” I muttered.

That sounded like one seriously dedicated adventurer. Most Elves, almost all of ’em, are either magic users or hunters back home, so a lot of them become adventurers when they leave their settlements. The thing is, they act on their own weird value system, so they often clash with the clients or have trouble formin’ a stable party.

Because of that, most just adventure for a bit, then head back home or change their base to another town, rarely stickin’ with it for the long haul. I’d assumed my regular customer was just another one of those wandering Elves, so I never thought she’d be such a decorated, respected adventurer.

”She is,” Marm conceded, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. “But it’s unusual. ‘The Divine Bow’ gets requests without even needing the Guild, so she doesn’t often show her face here. I bet this is your first time seein’ her, Kento-kun?”

”Ah, no. Not my first time, exactly…” I hesitated when she asked. My shop, Harvest, has a strict policy: we never leak a customer’s personal info. I might sexually harass ’em for my own personal amusement, but I don’t go around blabbin’ their secrets. Who’d wanna use a shady place like mine if I did that?

”Oh, really?” Marm gave me a suspicious look at my wishy-washy answer but didn’t press for more. The Adventurer’s Guild is also a business built on trust, after all. A signboard girl like her probably hears all kinds of things and has learned to avoid information that just causes trouble.

While we were having this superficial conversation, Tania the Divine Bow was apparently pushin’ her way through the ruffians and heading right for us. Ah, there went Thug A, Abram the Iron Fist; she just clocked him. Why’s the idiot lookin’ so happy about it…?

And then she arrived at the reception desk. I thought, This is bad, but hidin’ now would be worse. She’d think I was up to something shady. So, Tania and I ended up face-to-face, and our eyes locked dead on.

”Y-you there! W-why, why are you here?!” Tania, like the idiot she is, reacted clearly. Her face flushed scarlet, the tips of her pointy ears turning pink, too. It would’ve been a glorious sight back at my shop, but that reaction in the dead center of the Guild Hall, with all those ruffians watching, was absolutely not good.

”Hey, Kento! You know the big-sis Tania?” one thug bellowed.

”This is weird,” another chimed in. “‘Kento the Vagrand’ knows ‘Tania the Divine Bow’?”

The thugs started making a racket. But the Elven adventurer, Tania, still only had eyes for me. What should I do? Okay, I decided, let’s go with the ‘I Don’t Know Anything’ strategy.

”Nahhh? Don’t have any Elven friends, sorry. These guys got no heart; they never buy me a meal, ya know?”

”Wh—! You! You dare to speak such words, after all the shame you inflict on me daily?!” Tania sputtered.

And just like that, my beautiful attempted pass was headed straight into my own net by none other than Tania herself. It was a perfect own goal. What an utterly confusing thing to say! The thugs erupted in unison, and Marm, for some reason, blushed while looking between Tania and me.

”Y-you! Inflict shame daily?! How—how enviable… Wait, no! How dare you treat Big-Sis Tania like that!”

”Hmph! You’ve got guts, Kento! Was it the aphrodisiac? Was it an aphrodisiac? Toss me some leftovers, man!”

”K-Kento-kun, you don’t mean…? Where did you two meet? What was the story of your love?” Marm asked, her voice tight with curiosity.

”Master, I don’t mind if you get two or three mistresses. But if it starts affecting the business or changes how you treat me, I’ll be severely displeased,” Lily said, poking me in the side.

 ”Enough! I said I don’t know what you’re talking about!” I roared.

The thugs were cheering us on, Marm was completely misunderstanding the situation, and Lily, for some reason, had restarted her kidney-poking attack. Tania was still crimson, shaking uncontrollably, and absolutely nobody was listening to my frantic defense.

I couldn’t exactly shout the truth—that she was just a customer and I was just a shop owner—so all I could do was endure the loud ruckus for a while.

 Summary:

A legendary figure, the ancient Elven adventurer Tania the Divine Bow, makes a rare appearance at the bustling Adventurer’s Guild. Her arrival is meant to be grand, but a catastrophic confrontation with the sly merchant, Kento, turns her private life into a public spectacle. The chaos erupts when Tania, flustered by the presence of her adult magical goods dealer, makes an accidental admission that Kento inflicts shame on her daily. This leads to a massive, hilarious misunderstanding among the ruffian adventurers and the curious Guild receptionist, solidifying Kento’s reputation as a scandalous, lucky rogue and plunging Tania into profound, public embarrassment. The comedic scene is a classic example of isekaii fantasy secrets clashing with reality.

 Character Insight:

Despite her fame as ‘Tania the Divine Bow,’ a long-lived and respected Elven warrior, Tania’s emotional core is surprisingly fragile and deeply passionate. Her overwhelming embarrassment in the Guild Hall reveals the chasm between her dignified public persona and her private reality as an avid consumer of Kento’s most explicit magical items. This desperate need to protect her secret is what makes her such a devoted, and highly profitable, client.

 Behind the Scene:

The initial chaos was only quieted after the Guild Master had to come out and physically beat the ruffians into submission. This gave Kento and Tania a few moments of strained peace. During the subsequent discussion with Marm about Kento’s request for Pororo Snail Shells, Tania remained present, her ears still slightly pink. She eventually approached Kento to thank him for protecting her privacy, only to be drawn further into his business when Lily, Kento’s possessive and calculative slave, decided Tania was a perfect candidate for a new product, further deepening the relationship between the legendary adventurer and the humble magic shop owner. Lily views the alliance as strategically sound for the business.

 T/L:

1 The formal, slightly archaic ‘k-k-ki-sama!’ (貴様, ‘you there’) from Tania highlights her attempts to maintain a dignified, if flustered, elven formality.

Notes:

• Tania – An Elf adventurer who, despite her race’s reputation for low sex drive, is secretly quite passionate. She initially seemed ‘wasted’ (emotionally dry) to her friend Raika, but was easily introduced to the pleasure-items sold at ‘Harvest.’ She is easily embarrassed and attempts to maintain a dignified facade, despite her recent, frequent purchases. She wears practical but light armor over a simple cloth tunic and short pants, highlighting her grace and agility. Her primary relationship is one of friendly senior-junior with Raika.

• Marm – The attractive, red-haired, tanned receptionist at the Adventurer’s Guild. She wears a uniform that emphasizes her ‘nice body.’ She is kind and acts like a supportive ‘big sister’ figure to Kento. Looks like Mirajane Strauss from certain series.

• Kento – The owner of the magic tool shop ‘Harvest,’ which discretely sells adult goods. He’s a former overworked, ordinary salaryman from modern Japan who was suddenly transported (isekai’d) to this fantasy world. He has dark hair and an unremarkable appearance, typically wearing a plain, slightly suspicious-looking shop owner’s clothes looks like Kazuma Satou from certain series. He has a minimal amount of magic power, enough to craft his specialty items.

• Lily – the sl*ve and primary experiment subject for the magic shop, ‘Harvest.’ She has striking pink hair, Blue eyes, medium breasts, which the Protagonist associates with being ‘wanton’. She has a working knowledge of magic, which she kept hidden from the slave trader.
