Volume 1 Chapter 34-2 Achievement

Three days later, the operation to help Princess escape the Royal Capital was set in motion.
The first objective was to bring the princess from my house to Sir Mihail’s mansion.
Everyone was going to cooperate with the plan, so we gathered at my house for the final briefing.
Puruun and Melon had apparently been talking together until late last night, and it seemed they had prepared themselves for the farewell. I hoped they were ready.
Puruun occasionally glanced at me with a mischievous smile, which didn’t escape Ellulu’s notice.
”So, you managed to do what you needed to do, huh?”
”Mind your own business.”
I replied, my face turning red.
I went ahead to the mansion, pretending to wait for my family as usual.
I dressed Aaa-aaa in Melon’s clothes and attached a fake tail.
Then, Ellulu did her makeup to make Aaa-aaa look more Beastfolk-like.
She put a large hat on Aaa-aaa to conceal the fact that her ears weren’t like a Beastfolk’s.
Finally, Karin was carried by me, completing the disguise as fake Melon.
To avoid suspicion, Melon had been wandering around in this disguise from my house to the mansion for about a week.
The time for action arrived, and Ms. Akari and fake Melon left the house.
Puruun followed them from a distance, keeping a watchful eye on the surroundings.
Ms. Akari greeted the neighbors as everyone made their way toward the upper mansion.
And without any issues along the way, they successfully brought the princess to the upper mansion.
The real Melon had already blended into the crowd early in the morning to enter the upper mansion, where she changed clothes with the princess and, together with Ms. Akari, took Karin back home.
Soon, Puruun also entered the upper mansion from the back, marking the end of the first phase.
From here, a fast courier would be sent to Sir Mihail tonight.
I was also set to join in on that.
It felt a bit uneasy to leave home for about a month again, but the princess and Puruun needed to be in the box at key points, and it was better for someone who knew the situation to follow them. Well, I wanted to meet Sir Mihail and talk about various things too.
After midnight, the courier carriage left the upper mansion, heading toward Ilman.
At the gates of the Royal Capital, the guard on duty was said to be someone connected to the nobility supporting the princess, so they were able to pass through with just a casual inspection.
Near dawn, the carriage stopped at a farmhouse a little off the main street for a break. Here, both the princess and Puruun could finally stretch their bodies.
A few elves approached, and I tensed up for a moment, but the princess and Puruun seemed to know them well.
”Princess, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you’ve endured for so long. From here on, I will accompany you, so please rest easy.”
”Ms. Claudel, thank you for coming to welcome us. Getting this far is entirely thanks to your support. I express my gratitude once again.”
According to Puruun, this person was apparently a superior officer in the royal guard connected to the nobility leading the princess’s exile.
”Ms. Puruun. Thank you for your hard work. And please continue to protect the princess from now on. I appreciate it. By the way… you are Mr. Yuuta, right? I heard your name from Ms. Puruun… I understand you’ve helped out a lot this time.”
”Oh, no, I haven’t done much. I just followed everything Ms. Puruun said.”
”Right~ I see. I’ll be riding in the carriage with you to Lord Mihail’s place, but… I’m sorry, could you keep a little distance from me…?”
”Claudel! Stand down!”
Suddenly, the princess scolded Ms. Claudel. Then, she continued,
”Mr. Yuuta is a wonderful person. Just because he’s human doesn’t mean you should treat him with prejudice! It’s true that humans are a minority and have come here, struggling to adapt and sometimes causing trouble for others. But they are, in fact, very intelligent and possess technology far superior to ours. We must not underestimate them based on preconceived notions!”
”Oh, P-princess… I’m so sorry!”
She said that, but Ms. Claudel was glaring at me with a fierce expression.
Wow, I thought it might be easier to be discriminated against than to be weirdly resented. But I was really glad the princess spoke up for me like that.
Eventually, the break ended, and Ms. Claudel along with 2 other maids got into the carriage.
I tried to move next to the coachman, but the princess had us sit together in the carriage so that Ms. Claudel and I could get along. Still, it felt like sitting on pins and needles.
Usually, it takes about 2 weeks by carriage from the Royal Capital to Sir Mihail’s territory, stopping at farms contracted by the merchant guild for lodging and breaks along the way. However, this time it’s a fast delivery, so we’ll take breaks but won’t stay overnight. The coachman will just switch out along the way, so those on board will have to sleep in the carriage.
At first, Ms. Claudel was clearly annoyed with me, but after about 3 days, she seemed to get used to it. Maybe it was because traveling by carriage was boring, but she started chatting with me a bit.
She asked about what happened while the princess was staying at my place, if there were any slip-ups… No way that could happen, right? I answered like that, but inside, I was always on edge, wondering when the naturally airheaded princess might say something unsettling. Puruun was watching me with a cold stare.
Three days later, just before entering Sir Mihail’s territory, we hit a checkpoint from the Royal Capital side. But Ms. Claudel used her status to brush it off and we passed through without any inspection, safely arriving in Ilman.
Now that we were here, the Royal Capital’s power couldn’t reach us anymore. We could say we cleared the second checkpoint.
Since I was working as a servant at Sir Mihail’s mansion, there was no problem for me to be here. But for others, sneaking around was necessary, and casually meeting Sir Mihail could be dangerous for both sides.
The princess was supposed to stay at an inn with rooms for nobility, and Ms. Claudel and Puruun were at the same inn.
What a coincidence, this inn had a deep connection for both Puruun and me.
I went to visit Sir Mihail’s residence as a liaison. Sir Mihail and Lady Beyond welcomed me happily, and I informed them about the princess’s arrival.
