Volume 1 Chapter 41 Departure
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Wow, Puru. You really brought back something super dirty. Is this a human?”
”Ah, Princess. I’m sorry. I tried washing her in the river on the way, but her hair and clothes are all torn up… This girl is named Tomori, and she’s Mama Akari’s daughter… I think.”
”Wait, Ms. Akari’s? But how did she end up with a band of bandits…?”
”Well, I don’t really know anything right now. I can hardly understand her language here.”
Puruun, who had taken Tomori from the Banamu gang’s hideout, rushed back to the Coral territory on a fast horse. Then, in a hurry, he reported to Princess Asuka.
The bandits were probably dealt with by the Border Defense Force, but that didn’t really matter.
Following the princess’s orders, she cleaned up Tomori’s clothes and hair, making her look somewhat presentable.
”Are you Ms. Tomori?”
In response to the princess’s question, Tomori pointed to herself and kept saying,
”Tomori! Tomori!”
”〇×(d#Akarihq.”-8Yuuta~^: j%).”
”Ah, I definitely can’t understand what she’s saying.”
The princess said, looking troubled.
It seemed there were no priests who could communicate telepathically in the Coral territory, including the Border Defense Force, so immediate communication would be tough.
”Anyway, I’ll send a letter to Yuuta and Mama Akari. They’ll probably come rushing over… though it might take a few months… But Princess, I was kind of thinking that maybe it’s a good thing she can’t communicate right now…”
”…That’s true. This is a bit tricky. If we try to explain poorly, it might ruin everyone’s relationships. I think it’s best to leave it to Ms. Akari and Mr. Yuuta.”
The princess seemed to share the same feelings as Puruun.
After having a full meal and sleeping in a warm bed, Tomori looked a bit calmer the next day. Puruun slowly tried to have a conversation.
”Akari. Yuuta. Far. Soon. Can’t meet.”
”…Yes.”
It seemed like she got through to her. It reminded her of how Yuuta and the others used to be back in the day.
”Akari. Yuuta. Call. Wait.”
”…Okay.”
It seems like Tomori understood the situation for now, so she stopped being so hysterical. When Puruun showed her some origami that Mama Akari taught her long ago, Tomori happily folded a paper crane.
A few days later, when Lord Coral questioned why such a person was allowed in the mansion, the princess explained,
”My toy.” That got her out of trouble.
But couldn’t she have said it a little differently?
Even so, the princess was already being teased about her behavior… The princess acted like, “Explaining is such a hassle.”
So, I decided to have Tomori dress as a maid and help with cleaning around the mansion.
Then, on a certain day near the end of summer.
News of the king’s passing reached Count Coral.
The princess broke down in tears upon hearing the news and locked herself in her room, and of course, Puruun stayed right by her side.
Two weeks later, the Border Defense Force’s military delivered a message for the princess from Prince Aaron on a fast horse.
”What did you say?”
Seeing the contents, the princess screamed as if she had truly lost her mind.
The message stated that Aaron would become the new king, and she should quickly return to the royal capital to become his wife and bear his children.
”Princess, please calm down! Making a fuss here won’t help at all. Let’s consult Count Coral about what to do next. He’s been protecting you for times like this!”
Puruun’s words seemed to help the princess regain some composure.
”Ugh… Okay, Puru… you come with me… Oh right. Tomori should come too. I want to have some tea along the way…”
”Tea? Is there time for that?”
She thought, but Puruun prepared the carriage as the princess instructed and headed to Count’s residence, which was about an hour away.
* * *
”Right away, Count. Can you clear the room?”
The princess had approached the Count with a secret matter, but it seemed that a message from Prince Aaron had also reached Count Coral.
”Oh, a message has arrived for the princess too… This is serious. Either way, we must head to the Royal Capital. I will accompany you, so let’s prepare to leave right away.”
Count Coral was likely planning to go to the Royal Capital with the princess to apply military pressure on the new king.
While Puruun was thinking this, the princess spoke to the Count.
”Is it… to stand with me and deliver divine punishment to Prince Aaron? Or is it to offer me up to the new king Aaron?”
Huh? Puruun’s eyes widened.
”Haha, princess. What are you suddenly saying…?”
”No. I don’t want to pretend to be an ally only to be betrayed later, so I want to be clear from the start. Which is it?!”
It was clear that the Count was being pressured by the princess’s intensity.
”That… to be clear… then I shall say this. Your behavior since coming here has been unbearable. You spend your nights indulging with that Beastfolk girl and show no signs of organizing my supporters. In the end, you even picked up a human from a bandit and turned them into a s*x sl*ve. I cannot believe someone like you can lead the royal family moving forward. It seems more appropriate for you to become Sir Aaron’s wife and bear his children… no, even that would be an undeserved honor.”
What a terrible thing to say. Puruun’s hand almost went to the hilt of her sword, but the princess stopped her.
”I see. So that is your opinion. I truly appreciate the protection you have provided until today. However, I will cut ties with you right here, right now.”
”Ha, acting all high and mighty. What can a little girl like you do with just one servant? If you had just listened to me, you could have lived a luxurious life… Instead, I’ll tie you up and send you off to Sir Aaron with a label saying ‘s*x sl*ve!’.”
”Hey, how crude. You’re not in a position to judge others, are you? Puruun, finish this up!”
”Hah!”
Since coming to the Coral Duchy, Puruun has never skipped sword training, and if she’s wearing that blessed pendant, there aren’t many who can win against her. The Count found a sword tip pressed against his throat in an instant.
”Wha──!”
The Count couldn’t even make a sound.
”Hehe. It was your downfall to underestimate 2 girls who are always drowning in lust. I’m sorry, but I never had any expectations of you from the start. If you were truly a comrade with ambition, wouldn’t it be right to admonish me for my wrongdoings that I just mentioned? In that sense, you were just waiting to see how things would play out. When to play your cards… Puruun, make sure to tie up the Count properly… oh, and gag him too.”
As the princess instructed, Puruun tightly bound the Count so he couldn’t move.
”Now then, let’s get out of here before anyone else finds us.”
Saying that, the princess and Puruun returned to the carriage with casual expressions and started heading in the opposite direction of the seaside mansion.
