It was a close call, but everyone from the mercenary managed to capture General Naskinpos just before the gate room. Now, nothing could stop us from returning through the gate.
The army from the noble alliance outside was also entering the royal castle, and it seemed they were disarming the main keep as well.
We entered the gate room with the new king and waited for members like Tomori, Ellulu, and Sistemador, who were waiting outside the castle.
”King. Are you going to go into exile with us?”
Hey, Ms. Akari. That’s not okay, is it?
”Haha, I have no intention of doing that. I’m still the king, after all. I have a duty to see how this all turns out.”
Saying that, the new king hugged Karin.
”You’re just like me, yet everyone loves you. I’m jealous. …No, I probably just didn’t notice that I was loved by those around me…”
Soon, Puruun arrived at the gate room with Tomori and the others.
Haha, even Melon came along.
Tomori rushed over to Akari and hugged her.
”Mom… I’m so glad. I’m so relieved you’re safe!”
The new king spoke to Tomori.
”Are you Tomori? I want to ask you something honestly. How does it feel to have your crush taken by your mother?”
I translated the new king’s words and passed them on to Tomori.
”What’s with this guy? Isn’t that rude?”
No, no, he’s the king, I explained to Tomori.
”Hmph, so you’re the one behind all this… Of course, I’m not happy about it! But you know, if you really fall in love, there’s nothing you can do about it. Feelings can’t be decided by ethics or rules, right?”
”I see… that’s true. You’ve taught me something…”
Tomori’s answer seemed to align with the new king’s thoughts.

The new king looked surprised to be in the gate room at first, but Sistemador quickly started checking the control device.
After a while, he said,
”Two people!”
”Huh? Does that mean that’s the number of people who can go through the gate?”
Puruun asked.
”Yes. With the current mana accumulation, that’s the limit.”
”Eh! If that’s the case, we can’t all go home together. Can’t 3 small people fit?”
Ellulu asked.
”No way. I’m looking at the limits, but even with that kid, 3 people won’t work.”
Everyone looked at each other, and it got quiet.
”But, if time passes, we can go through again, right?”
I asked, and Sistemador replied.
”Yeah. But I don’t know if it’ll be 5 years or ten years until one more can pass because there’s not enough data.”
”Okay, then I guess there’s nothing we can do. I’ll give up.”
Ellulu said.
”But, there are still 4 of us… Yuuta, what will you do?”
Puruun said sadly.
I thought about pulling back and reconsidering, but Tomori spoke up.
”Hey, everyone. Can I say something? I think Yuuta, mom, and Karin need to be together… so… What if me and Ellulu go over there?”
”Tomori! Then…”
Ms. Akari choked up.
”Yeah, of course, I think there’s also the option of not going home and staying here with everyone. But I really want to go back and reset my life. I don’t hate mom or Yuuta, you know…”
”Ah, I get it. You said if you go back, you’ll ditch me and find a new boyfriend. I’ve already given up on going back, so I have no regrets about staying here. Ms. Akari, what do you think? Should we follow Tomori’s idea?”
”…If Tomori can be happy with that…”
”It’s okay, Mom. Your daughter isn’t that weak… I’ll give that pervy guy with a third wife to you, and I’ll find someone better!”
”Uuuh… Tomori…”
Ms. Akari and Tomori hugged and cried for a while.

”Are you all ready?”
Sistemador said, attaching tags to Tomori and Ellulu.
”Alright, Tomori. Say hi to my parents for me. And please take care of my stuff too. Mr. Gregory’s military bonds might be tricky to sell, so talk to Dad about it. Hope Ellulu is doing well too. You can always come back if you feel like giving up.”
I kissed Tomori and then Ellulu one after the other.
”Can I come back if I give up too?”
Tomori joked.
”Yeah, of course! And who knows, maybe the research on the gate will progress, and we might be able to come back too. When that happens, I’ll need your help again.”
Then, Tomori and Ellulu disappeared into the gate while everyone waved them goodbye.
