Ugh… what the heck is going on!? Sure, I haven’t been doing it with that guy all the time, but at least we’ve gone at it a few times until morning…
and yet she… Melon gets pregnant from just one time!?
Well, I guess she’s always said she wanted to be the 4th wife and has been into Yuuta for a while, so it’s a happy thing…
I don’t really think it’s ruining my sister’s reputation or anything, but…
I just can’t wrap my head around it.
I’ve been stuck in my thoughts about this and haven’t made any progress on the actual case.
At this rate, the steel secretary is just a pretty face.
Anyway, the carriage seems to be arriving at the Royal Capital soon.
Normally, I’d stay overnight in Ilman town and greet Lord Mihail and his wife, but this time it’s urgent.
I need to inform the queen about what happened at Kashiwagi Manor as soon as possible and take action… and with Ms. Claudel absent, I’m also not there…
I hope nothing has happened to the queen.

”…Wait a second… did I somehow set off a flag for myself?”
I entered the Royal Palace and immediately started looking for Queen Asuka, but I couldn’t find her in her private room, office, or the audience chamber. I hurriedly asked the captain of the guards, and he said she’s at the hospital.

”Well… it seems she’s expecting.”
”Huh? W-wait a second. What do you mean by that…?”
”Um, she has signs of pregnancy and is getting checked at the hospital.”
”P-pregnant!? Who’s the father?”
”Um, that’s… well…”
The captain looked really uncomfortable.
”C-could it be…?”
”──Oh, Chief Secretary! You’re back!”
A voice came from behind me, and I turned to see Chancellor Rainsheyn. It seems he just finished attending a meeting.
”Uh, um, Chancellor. What on earth is going on…?”
”Well, don’t get too excited. From the looks of it, you’ve already heard the news, huh? I was totally caught off guard too. But according to the person involved, the Queen haven’t made any promises to anyone except for Lord Yuuta…”
”What the heck does that meannnnn!!”
My scream echoed through the Royal Palace hall.

”So… it’s confirmed that you’re pregnant, right?”
I was secretly led into a room at the Royal Hospital to meet Queen Asuka.
”…I’m sorry… Puru…”
The queen couldn’t look me in the eye, her gaze all over the place, trembling and acting all shaky. Even this mischievous queen seems pretty shaken up by the seriousness of the situation.
”Ah, don’t apologize. You’re the queen; you shouldn’t be making mistakes. So, this isn’t just a slip-up, it’s a blessing that came from mutual love, so you should hold your head high…”
”But… Elves and humans can’t have multiple partners. What am I supposed to tell Ms. Akari… and I feel bad for you too…”
”Honestly, it’s that idiot’s fault… I told him that if he bothered the queen again, I’d chop him up…”
”Ah, no. I was the one who bothered him…”
”Ugh, whatever!! The important thing is, I have no idea what’s going on with Yuuta… what am I supposed to do?”
No good. My head is starting to boil over.
”…For now, let’s keep this under wraps until we figure out a plan. Well, it won’t be easy to hide once my belly starts showing… So, if an Elf is pregnant with a human child, how many months does it take to be born?”
Queen Asuka asked.
”Who knows?”
Whoa! Hold up, me! Isn’t this way more serious than I thought?
I remember last year around the end of the year, there was a report from Baron Tethyrkan about a human woman being pregnant with an Elf child, and since there was no precedent, they said they’d keep an eye on it…
and now it’s the opposite situation… isn’t this totally unprecedented?
Plus, how am I supposed to report this to the queen, who seems so emotionally unstable?
Could it be… I’m in deep trouble?

”Ugh. I really shouldn’t be doing this right now. You’re pretty much the only friend I can vent to. Sorry, Ellulu…”
Yeah.
In a panic, I secretly dropped by Ellulu’s place to complain.
It’s pretty rare for the second and third wives to share drinks, but since they know each other well, they keep pouring more.
But I had promised myself not to talk about Karin’s right-hand person just yet.
”Well, I’m glad you came to me, Puruun. But wow… he was really that much of a stud, huh? I wonder why neither you nor I got pregnant. Is it because we haven’t done it enough?”
”Keep the queen’s business a secret, okay?! …But if we’re talking about how many times, the queen and Melon must have done it way less than us!!”
”Oh, really? So Yuuta still hasn’t come back? He’s off visiting Tomori, right?”
”Huh? How do you know that?”
”Oh, before he left, he spilled everything after I kinda poked around.”
”That idiot… that was supposed to be a secret… but… sigh. I’ve got secrets too.”
”?? Did something happen?”
”It’s a secret! So let’s end this topic here!! Anyway, Ellulu. I’ve been keeping in close contact with Lord Rainsheyn, but Ms. Claudel isn’t around, and the queen can’t be relied on… I really don’t think I can handle this situation alone. I’m about to crack…”
”That’s not like you. You take on too much by yourself. I get that the people you used to rely on aren’t dependable anymore, but you’ve got more allies than just them, right? Like the merchant guild, Sir Mihail, the guards… and I’m here too.”
”…I see. You’re right. Even if I don’t spill all the secrets, there are definitely people who will help me. Thanks, Ellulu. I feel a bit better now.”
”That’s great! So, let’s drink all night and then we’ll tackle tomorrow!!”

The next morning. After crashing at Ellulu’s place, I borrowed a shower and got ready, then headed straight to the Royal Palace… but wait? What’s with that crowd?
By the bridge at the main gate of the Royal Palace, there’s a bunch of people gathered around… looks like there’s some kind of notice posted.
Did someone make an announcement? Maybe Lord Rainsheyn? As I read the notice, I was shocked.
It was a statement accusing Queen Asuka of being pregnant with a human child.
What the heck is this? Who the heck got this info, and where!? My hangover made my blood boil, and I yanked that notice down and threw it into the moat, shouting,
”Everyone!! Don’t be fooled by these lies!!”
And as if my energy pushed them back, the crowd started to disperse… but oh man, I just lied to the citizens too.
But this is bad… no matter how popular Queen Asuka is, there are plenty of nobles who aren’t happy about the current relationship with humans. This could shake up the domestic situation that was finally stabilizing.
…Yuuta. You really messed things up, didn’t you?
