”Ahh, darling! We’re really flying above the clouds! If we fall, it’s gonna hurt a lot, right!?”
”No way! If we fall, it’s not just gonna hurt!”
After finishing quarantine, we were freed and guided by Tomori to the airplane heading to Naha.
Looking down from the airplane window, Ms. Claudel has been squealing for a while, but hey, you don’t see this kind of stuff in another world.
Mr. George seems busy and couldn’t make it this time, but he’s apparently a pretty high-ranking bureaucrat in the U.S. military, which is why we can move around freely.
Also, it seems like Ellulu was the same, but nobody even noticed Ms. Claudel’s pointy ears, which she didn’t bother to hide.
I’m grateful for the deep culture of this country.
Then we took a taxi from Naha Airport, zooming under the Yui Rail, heading to my parents’ house.
I heard Mr. George and Tomori live nearby too.
”Ahh… Yuuta. You’re really the real Yuuta, right?”
”Haha. Mom, I’m back… I’m really sorry for being away for so long.”
”Come on, no need for formalities… just come inside already.”
Dad said, and with Tomori giving me a little push, I went inside with Ms. Claudel.
”Ah, Ms. Claudel. Take off your shoes,”
Tomori prompted, and Ms. Claudel quickly took off her shoes, looking surprised.
”Oh. I thought I prepared for this, but I totally forgot.”
”So, Yuuta. Who’s this lady?”
”Ah, Dad. This is Ms. Claudel, who came with me for work.”
”You’re Mr. Yuuta’s dad, right? I’m Claudel Rainsheyn, Mr. Yuuta’s first friend with benefits!!”
”Whaaat!? …Yuuta. Are you teaching this otherworldly person some crazy lies?”
”No, Dad… it’s a misunderstanding…”
”Enough of your nonsense! Stop goofing around at the entrance and get inside already!!”
Mom scolded us, and we hurriedly tumbled into the living room together.
”Mommy!” a little boy runs up to Tomori.
”Oh, Haruto. Did you behave while I was gone!?”
”I was playing with Grandpa!”
”You’ve really gotten attached to Yuuta’s parents. George and I are so busy, so you end up getting spoiled.”
”Well, my parents must be happy too.”

At night, Mr. George, who finished work, joined in, and the Kashiwagi family dove into a party mood.
I showed my parents pictures of Ms. Akari and Karin, explaining everything one by one.
I also explained more about Mr. Gregory to Mr. George, and when I talked about how that knife saved my life, Mr. George got a bit teary-eyed.
”Eek!!!”
Just then, Ms. Claudel suddenly burst out of the bathroom with her butt almost hanging out.
”Whoa, Dad, don’t look!!”
Mom hurriedly covered Dad’s eyes with her hand.
”Haha, EllEll did the same thing with the washlet… But I guess she really did fulfill her dream.”
”Yeah, so Dad, the queen told me to get a rubber tree. I’ll need you to arrange that soon. Apparently, Ellulu is going to use it for her new underwear designs.”
”Oh, well, rubber trees should be growing around here, right?”
”No way, Uncle. Even in Okinawa, they don’t grow wild.”
Tomori chimed in.
”Hey, Mom. Who’s this guy?”
Haruto points at me and asks Tomori.
”Um, this person is… huh? He’s my mom’s husband, so… my father-in-law!”
Tomori said, surprised again.
”Haha, I guess that makes sense.”
Haruto is Ms. Akari’s first grandchild.
So that means he’s my grandchild too? I definitely want to meet her.
But for now… our return is still uncertain.
”Well then, Mr. Yuuta. We’re currently checking with the home country about Mr. Yuuta and Ms. Claudel through AWC. There’s a chance you might need to head over to the U.S. at some point. I think that would really help with your mission.”
”Thanks. But I, of course, Ms. Claudel too, need things like passports…”
”Don’t worry about it. If it comes down to it, we can sneak you over on a military plane… For now, just take your time with your parents until we get some instructions from over there.”
As Mr. George said this, he smiled and offered me a drink of awamori mixed with hot water.

The next day, Tomori took a day off work and drove me and Ms. Claudel around Okinawa for sightseeing.
Haruto is being taken care of by my parents.
At the aquarium, even Ms. Claudel was totally amazed, and she was quieter than usual.
”Darling. There’s such a big fish swimming next to such a small person… They won’t get eaten, right?”
”Oh, the whale shark? I think it eats plankton. It doesn’t eat humans.”
”Plankton?”
”Yeah. There are tiny little bugs in the water that you can barely see, and it eats those.”
”That sounds inefficient. It should just eat something bigger.”
Haha.
It feels like I’m on a date with Ms. Claudel.
Well, Tomori is a little distance away…
After checking out the aquarium, we actually went out to the beach.
”This is… the ocean here. It’s beautiful. But honestly, it’s not that different in size from what I saw in the Coral Territory.”
”No, the size of the ocean… is really just what you can see in your line of sight…”
When I glanced at Ms. Claudel, I noticed tears rolling down her cheeks.
”Oh. Darling, I’m sorry. Looking at the ocean made me feel sad. I’m suddenly nostalgic for the sea in the Coral Territory. But…”
”No. I feel anxious too. I think Mr. Fishbed will contact us once the gate reopens.”
”That’s right. But… what if… what if I can never go back to my country again? Will you make me your wife, darling?”
”Ah… well…”
”I’m sorry. That was too much to ask. You have a wonderful first wife, Ms. Akari, and a second and third wife too. Since I’m an Elf, I can’t be a 4th wife…”
”Ms. Claudel, please don’t look so sad. I understand. If it really becomes hopeless for you to return, I’ll marry you, Ms. Claudel. Otherwise, you’ll be all alone in this world.”
”Thank you, darling. But… Elves and humans have such different lifespans. One day, you will definitely pass away before me. I don’t want to tie you down like that.”
”…Then, before that happens, let’s make lots of friends here. And even if I can’t do it in my lifetime, there might come a day when you can travel back and forth while you’re still alive. Until then, I want to make sure you’re not lonely…”
”Oh, darling… that’s right, darling. Let’s have kids too!! That way, I won’t be lonely either.”
Speaking of which, there was a time when children were born between Elves and humans.
Tomori, who had been listening to the conversation from a little distance, walked over and spoke to Ms. Claudel.
”Ms. Claudel, don’t worry. Even if Yuuta and I die of old age, there’s still Haruto, and our feelings will connect with our children and grandchildren… Humans have much shorter lifespans than Elves, but that’s how we keep our feelings alive.”
”Ms. Tomori…”
”Well, anyway. It’s not time to decide that yet. We’ll do everything we can here, and I believe everyone back in that world is working hard to reopen the gate. So… since we’re in this amazing other world, let’s enjoy our days more, Ms. Claudel!!”
”Darling… really… that’s true! I wonder if Ms. Akari felt this way when she first got sent over there. But the young lady has grown up… when I met her before, she looked so happy.”
Ms. Claudel’s smile returned as she said this.
