”Akari, hurry up. The sun will set before we reach the next station.”

In front of the Kashiwagi Manor, several carriages were prepared, and in the middle, a slightly luxurious carriage had Aaron already seated, waiting for Akari to arrive.

Most of the main figures of the manor were out working, so there were few to see them off, but for Aaron, it had been over a decade since his last trip to the Royal Capital, and he felt a bit excited.

”Sir Aaron. I’m sorry for being late,” Akari said as she handed a large bag to a servant.

”What’s that? A gift for Karin?”

”Yes. I have various things for others too. They’re not much, but…”

”You worked hard to make those, right? I think everyone will be happy. Did you make a belly band for Asuka?”

 ”Yes!”

Aaron got out of the carriage for a moment and began greeting the people who came to see them off.

”Well then, I’ll be off. I know it might feel lonely without the main ones here, but while I’m away, Baron Tethyrkan will take care of the manor, so consult him if anything comes up.”

”So, my lord. Will you be back in about a year?” an elder of the manor asked.

”I think it won’t take that long… The wedding and reception for Akari will only take about a month. However, my priority is Yuuta’s return. So if there’s anything regarding that, my return may be delayed.”

”Understood. We have Melon technician’s magical communication, so if anything happens in the Royal Capital, please contact us. And if you happen to meet those who are working with Sir Yōmo, please send my regards.”

”I understand. Please take care of things while I’m away.”

Saying that, Aaron returned to the carriage and sat down next to Akari.

”Departure!” With that command, the caravan began to move.

”Sir Aaron. Lady Akari. Congratulations on your marriage!!”

 ”Thank you very much.”

Cheers rose from the people who came to see them off.

Thus, Aaron and Akari headed to the Royal Capital to attend the wedding hosted by the Senate.

”What? Move the gate?” Reina doubted her ears when Zaharu said that.

”Yes. They want to conduct research in a more accessible location. Here, we can barely spread out the batteries.”

”That’s true, but… aren’t we technically an anti-establishment organization? If we stand out too much, the surrounding lords might take notice…”

”The situation has changed. His Majesty The Emperor has been missing for nearly 6 months, and it’s widely believed he may have died somewhere. If he were alive, he would likely be with some lord… Therefore, the influential figures currently overseeing the government are already considering the next Emperor after Balmstra. Furthermore… for the past few months, there has been a standoff in Duke Suicelma’s territory, and it is said that the lord, Duke Suicelma, was captured and executed by the spirit clan. The palace guard has rushed to the scene, but tensions remain high. Thus, it has been decided to move the gate to the research facility in Moniera, the capital of Suicelma, and use it as a deterrent against the spirit clan.”

”Deterrent? Can something that isn’t even finished serve as a deterrent?”

”It’s perfect for the spirit clan, as they don’t understand this mysterious weapon. After all, they can’t use mana. If we create confusion with the information that a large human army is coming through there, they will likely retreat from the front lines immediately. Moreover… I’ve heard that the energy needed for completion will somehow be arranged soon.”

”Somehow arranged? Are you planning to steal batteries from Zerlant?”

”Well, something like that. So, Lieutenant Reina, please prepare for the move. We will start sending the wyverns back and forth the day after tomorrow.”

 ”…Understood.”

Although she said that, there are many things Reina doesn’t understand.

While it’s good that the gate serves as a deterrent, why would they deliberately place it near the enemy?

The enemy isn’t foolish, after all.

They’ll likely try to eliminate it with all their might.

However, it’s true that fixing the gate from the other world’s side within this fortress would be quite a challenge, equipment-wise.

A proper research facility would be a more efficient way to complete it.

If so, then she’s the one who’s waiting the most for the gate’s completion in this world.

she’ll do as she’s told, then.

Having made up her mind, Reina began preparing to move her research lab.

 *Melon’s Perspective

After setting up a large power generator on Sir Yōmo’s estate, the engineers from Kashiwagi Manor received instructions from Her Majesty to conduct research in various locations to create something similar.

I, along with Karin and Ms. Sharlin, continued our research at Sir Yōmo’s place, using the abundant electricity from the new generator.

There’s still a lot of room for improvement to make it smaller and more powerful… both solar panels and batteries can be enhanced further.

Sir Yōmo had a research building constructed for me, which was named Melon Institute, and we have a considerable number of staff, which is a bit embarrassing.

But… what’s really going on with my sister, I wonder.

And what’s Ms. Reina doing now that she’s back in her hometown?

She should be in secret contact with Her Majesty, but I haven’t heard anything.

Rumors are circulating that the Emperor of Balmstra died while fleeing, or was shot by the pursuing army, or eloped and committed a lovers’ suicide… of course, none of these are confirmed, but they’re all disturbing enough to unsettle me.
