Jashin-Daughter 8

Chapter 8 Go Beyond the Evil Dragon’s Corpse

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

When it came to Sakuya’s education, Yaten and I had already discussed it.

We decided to raise her as a human, to give her proper guidance and teach her values. To live as a dragon meant showing her evil nature openly, a path where enemies would always surround her. Yaten understood this, so as parents we agreed—Sakuya must grow up as a human child.

”You do understand,” I said firmly, “if Sakuya learns about s** too early, it will plant evil desire in her heart.”

”That is true,” Yaten answered, bowing her head. “But… she asked me. If it was a healthy union, I thought it would be fine to show her…”

And so, a clash of values appeared. Yaten sat in formal seiza, head lowered in shame. As a dragon who had once bewitched countless men, she had little sense of boundaries in such matters. For her, if there was no violence, then even our young daughter watching her parents’ s** seemed harmless.

It was true—we had not shown her the worst sight. What she saw was two parents loving each other and making life together. It had been intense, yes, but not violent. Still, Sakuya was only two months old in human growth. She should not know such things.

”As punishment,” I said, “there will be no night visits for a while.”

”That is too cruel! If you do not embrace me, how shall I comfort my lonely heart?”

”…If hand service is enough, I will help you with that,” I replied.

”In that case… very well. We shall call it even.”

Her golden eyes looked at me with such sadness that I could not resist. We were mates, after all. To be denied the joy of the night visit was hard for both of us. Truthfully, I wanted her too. So if there was only comfort, without s**, it was a fair punishment.

”You are right,” Yaten sighed. “It was too soon to let Sakuya see s**.”

”No,” I corrected, “children should never see their parents’ s**.”

”…Is that so? In my time, it was common for fathers to embrace mother and daughter together.”

Her words sent a chill through me. Yaten had lived a thousand years ago. The gap in culture and knowledge was huge, and if we did not correct it, Sakuya’s heart could be warped.

”We won’t debate the generation gap,” I said. “Just know this—in modern times, such acts are called immoral. Evil desire.”

Sakuya’s heart, shaken between human and dragon nature, needed careful handling. If she awoke to the wrong path, she would become like Yaten: a beauty who deceived men and played with them like toys. That was why I had to be strict, even overprotective, in guiding her.

Then Yaten murmured, her expression oddly dreamy:

”I was looking forward to being embraced by husband and Sakuya together…”

”That is taboo now,” I warned sharply. “If you ever whisper such ideas to her, she may grow into something terrible. Do not teach her that!”

The difference in our values was terrifying. I thought I had taught Yaten enough about modern sense, but I had missed this. If not corrected, Sakuya might have become twisted, even seeking her own father.

I had told Yaten about laws against killing and stealing. But I had not explained our values about sex. That was my mistake.

Even in ancient times, incest must have been taboo. But in the nations destroyed by dragons, maybe such things spread freely. That meant I would need to carefully check Yaten’s views on every detail of culture.

”Tell me honestly,” I asked. “You haven’t taught Sakuya such things, have you?”

”I have not!” Yaten cried. “To me it was common sense, so I thought you had already taught her the basics!”

 ”…Good. Thank goodness…”

I sank to my knees, relieved beyond words. Sakuya’s values were safe. She had seen her parents’ s**, but nothing worse. It was still something we could correct.

Just then, a voice called softly.

 ”Father, Mother…”

 ”Sakuya?!” I turned at once.

 ”Yes, husband!” Yaten whispered, tense.

Our daughter walked in wearing her nightclothes. At once, Yaten and I fixed our posture. Clothes straightened in an instant, faces calm, as if nothing had happened. Even after being seen, acting natural was everything.

It was like meeting a bear in the forest. My heart pounded. Even Yaten, the dreaded evil dragon, looked as if she were praying. After what she had seen, would Sakuya now judge us?

 But instead, she smiled.

 ”Mother, congratulations on your pregnancy.”

”…Ah—yes,” Yaten laughed nervously. “I had not yet told you.”

”Exactly,” I said quickly. “Sakuya, your mother is with child. You will be an older sister now!”

Her words shocked us, but we reacted in time. Instead of questioning the act she had seen, she offered congratulations. Even Yaten, clever as she was, had frozen for a moment. Sakuya’s surprise had been perfect.

”Come, Sakuya,” Yaten said softly. “Touch here. Your sibling is inside.”

”…I feel a small life, Mother!”

”Yes, small now, but it will grow like you.”

 Our daughter was sparing us…!

She must have realized that speaking of s** was taboo. Instead, she spoke only of the result, the new life. With pure innocence, she touched Yaten’s belly and smiled in wonder. Then she turned to me.

”Father, I will be an older sister!”

”That’s right. In one week, the baby will be born. Prepare yourself well.”

”Yes! Ahh—I’m so happy our family will grow!”

Her joy overflowed. She even pressed her ear against Yaten’s stomach, though no heartbeat could yet be heard. The sight made me smile, even as tension gripped my chest. Yaten and I knew the truth—our s** had been seen. We waited in dread for her to mention it.

—Yaten, when that time comes, you must cover for me.

 —I understand, husband.

As mates bound in body and heart, Yaten and I needed only a glance to share our thoughts. In our minds, we simulated Sakuya’s possible questions over and over, preparing the best way to protect her heart from being tainted.

”What shall we name the baby?” Sakuya asked brightly.

”I thought of another moon name,” I said. “After the new moon comes the first moon—Uigetsu. What do you think?”

”Uigetsu… yes, it works for both a boy or a girl,” she agreed.

But still the blow never came. No mention of our s**. The words that could cut like a critical strike hung unspoken, as if she held a joker card in her hand, waiting. We felt like children in her palm, completely under her control.

I understood she was being considerate. Yet the silence itself was terrifying.

To be spared by our own daughter—still only two months old in this form—was crushing to our pride as parents.

”Father, Mother,” Sakuya said suddenly, “I have something to ask.”

 ”Wh-what is it…?” Yaten stammered.

”Do you… want to know something?” I asked carefully.

A shock ran through us. Even though we had prepared for judgment, when it finally came our bodies stiffened. The air in the room was tense, heavy, enough to make even Yaten, the mighty dragon, sweat. Sakuya smiled faintly and said:

”You do not need to be so tense. I already understand everything as knowledge, so please be at ease.”

Those words of kindness cut deeper than any accusation.

”I-I see… Sakuya, you have grown not only in body but in heart!” Yaten said weakly.

”Yes,” I added, forcing a smile. “If you are not troubled, that is good. These topics are delicate.”

Our minds were near collapse. In truth, it would have been easier if she had asked directly about our s**. We were ready to explain the meaning of creating life. But her gentle “understanding” was like a blade, slicing our pride to pieces. Yaten froze beside me, like a defeated mother dragon.

And then, Sakuya delivered another strike.

”Since man and woman, male and female, are mates, it is only natural that you do such things! I—I really do understand!”

The words landed like a double shot to the chest. Innocent, yet merciless. Pure and cutting at the same time. Our daughter’s “kindness” destroyed what was left of our dignity.

Yaten and I collapsed on the futon, broken. Still, we managed to give her one final lesson.

”Sakuya,” Yaten said faintly, “too much kindness can sometimes become a blade that cuts the heart.”

”Yes,” I added with a bitter laugh. “If you can learn this by stepping over your parents’ corpses, then it was worth it.”

 ”Eh… Father? Mother? Wh-what do you mean…?”

And so, at only two months old, Sakuya began to understand how fragile the pride of others could be.
