Chapter 175 When Kin Gather, the Conversation Often Strays

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 ”Oh, Grandfather!?”

 ”Father-in-law!?”

Mia and Mama Entier’s screams reach me; their voices sound a bit distant, perhaps because my consciousness is drifting away. I struggle to keep my intent connected. Why does this country’s anonymous royal try to make my consciousness fly away?

However, if he calls himself Scientia, does that mean Papa Entier has removed his name from the anonymous royal registry?

Questions are endless, but what kind of fate is he caught in to capture one of the Godslayer’s daughters after leaving the anonymous royal family?

 ”By the way, Tatara.”

 ”Ubu… Yes, what is it?”

While suppressing the gastric acid rising from the stress I’ve been dealt, I manage to respond to Kalan-sama. Kalan-sama continues his words while giving me a bitter smile.

”What did you call Tarchis just now?”

 ”Eh, Director Scientia… I think.”

Even if he asks what I called him, I think I just called him normally.

Kalan-sama mutters, “Unconscious?”, at me and continues with words of despair.

 ”You called Tarchis ‘Papa Entier’.”

 ”…Eh”

No way. Did the nickname I used in my heart come out of my mouth!?

”Ah, so it wasn’t a mishearing when you called him that before.”

 ”Before…!?”

I called him that to his face… such nonsense!?

”I think it was when we first met. You called Rumi by her surname, and when I reacted together with Lee, I thought you would call us by our names, but you called us by our full names. Then, at the same time, you sometimes called me by a nickname.”

”My, my inner voice was leaking…!?”

I want to die a little. What am I saying to the parent of my classmate?

”Fufu, then I am Mama Entier. Please call me that from now on,” Mama Entier said elegantly.

”Ah, Lee, that’s cunning… I’m literally gonna need you to call me Papa Entier too, for real!” Tarchis exclaimed.

”Why are you two so enthusiastic!?” I replied.

My head starts to ache because of the two Parent Entiers who suddenly started demanding titles with enthusiasm. The one who tapped my shoulder was Your Majesty Queen Seras, and her face is full of smiles.

”I shall be Baba Entier, most certainly!” Seras whispered.

 ”Don’t join in!?” I shouted.

”Then I’m Jiji Entier, and quit bustin’ my chops about it,” Kalan grumbled.

 ”I hate this imperial family!!”

Why are these people so enthusiastic?

 ”Um, Tatara-kun…”

”…Should I return Mia to Scientia?”

”I don’t want to!?” Mia cried out.

When I ask Mia, who called out to me, she shouts back that she doesn’t want to. That actually helps.

”Let’s leave the jokes here. City Mayor and Tatara-kun. Can you explain what Father was talking about?”

”Yes, to put it simply as a preamble, a terrorist attack will occur on the last day of the City Festival,” I stated.

”I didn’t think such an extra-large bomb would be thrown in…”

I watch the exchange while having my back rubbed by Mia. Yeah, maybe I can get along with Papa Entier. I couldn’t look at the faces of Mama, Baba, and Jiji Entier because they were scary as they watched me getting my back rubbed by their granddaughter.

City Mayor explained the student movement, albeit briefly. Papa Entier, who was bewildered at first, becomes serious. Hearing that the information source is my party members, he turns to me immediately.

 ”Tatara-kun, is it true?”

 ”It is true.”

 ”What is the basis?”

”…That person is now bound to me by a knight’s oath.”

I convey the truth about the knight’s oath, relying on Papa Entier’s knowledge. Thinking that a family with multiple knights or a Male Alchemist would understand, I tell him, but it is Mama Entier, not Papa Entier, who shows a surprised expression.

”…Tatara-kun, did you really form a knight’s oath at that age?”

”Yes, I also confirmed that a Class Up actually occurred.”

”Wait, wait, Tatara, do you have the blood of royalty or anonymous royal in you!?” Jiji Entier asked, getting in my face.

I answer Mama Entier, who pushed Papa Entier aside to ask me, and then Jiji Entier closes in on me as well. Well, now that it’s come to this, perhaps I have to talk about the laws and such in this world.

Knowledge of the original work, or rather, the settings laid out by the creators of this world.

The disadvantage of not telling them is that the trouble of this situation will continue; the merit is that the talk will end.

The merit of telling them is that the talk will end early; the disadvantage is that I will become important as a research subject in this country.

The disadvantage is definitely greater, and huge amounts of money and people will be moved by research based on my words.

I might be too conceited, but the biggest problem is Jiji Entier.

He knows that I can talk to the ‘Poster Girls’. He doesn’t know what kind of existences they are, but at the same time, he has witnessed that they have immense power and are something close to supernatural existences.

That makes my words have strong credibility.

It could be the trigger to cast away my peaceful life… though I feel like I’m not living a peaceful life even now.

Thoughts swirl within me, and I struggle with which to choose.

”Mother, Grandfather, calm down!” Mia insisted.

A slight shock hits me, and when I come out of my thoughts, I see Mia hugging me as if to protect me. Eh, what’s with this?

 ”No, Rumi, you see…”

”There’s nothing to see, Tatara-kun is in trouble because you two are cornering him!” Mia snapped.

 ”Ah, yeah. You know?”

 ”There’s nothing to know!”

The two of them are bewildered by being told that by Mia. Mia glares at them… she looks a bit teary-eyed.

”You, did you add more again?”

”Please don’t say ‘again’ or ‘add more’, I have no memory of it.”

I am asked such things by the City Mayor, who gently approached me while I was being hugged by Mia, but the reason why I am liked by Mia is──

 Something like that──

Shouldn’t exist. Yet… what is this that slightly catches in my mind?

Mia is peering into my face, worried that I was holding my forehead before I knew it. I feel like I’ve seen this expression somewhere before, but… what memory is that really?

”…It’s nothing, I just had a bit of a headache.”

”…That’s not because you’re being troubled by Grandfather and Mother, right?”

Even if it were, I couldn’t say it because it would be disrespectful. This girl also has the blood of the anonymous royal, doesn’t she? Her treatment of her grandfather is a bit rough… no, if it were normal, he would be the person who occupied the throne, so wouldn’t she be more respectful?

”Kalan, you’re going to be hated by your granddaughter if you do more than this,” Mama Entier said with a sigh.

”That’s what you say, but… my gut is tellin’ me that I should hear somethin’ of Tatara’s knowledge and preserve it,” Jiji Entier muttered.

Even though Baba Entier reprimands him, Jiji Entier shows no sign of backing down. No, maybe it’s better to just tell them here.

 ”…Jiji Entier-sama”

”Are you seriously going to call me that?” Jiji Entier barked.

He makes a tsukkomi, but he looks happy, so which is his real intention?

Well, whatever, if I react to it, the conversation will never end.

”First, regarding the knight’s oath… or rather, the conditions for Class Up, I honestly don’t know. Also, my parents are pure humans even if you trace the bloodline back.”

The royalty of the countries in this world almost always have the blood of gods or similar beings and have their royal authority recognized by a specific god. The Aqueldo Kingdom, which was the predecessor of this Nahazhuto Imperial Kingdom, also had the blood of ancient gods, and the late Empress also had the blood of a war god who was hostile to the God of War.

If anything, Jiji Entier’s mother also had the blood of a war god, and Jiji Entier himself has inherited that blood… looking at it like this, there are many people who have the blood of gods. Even Mia has a Godslayer as a grandfather… she seems like she’ll have a hard time.

”Then why were you able to receive the knighthood?”

”The reason is a complete mystery, and in the first place, I don’t even belong to a sect.”

”…That is the biggest mystery of all,” Calmys stated.

Having heard my words, Calmys-san casts a glance at the top of my head. I look up thinking there’s something there, but there’s nothing. I wonder what it is.

I don’t believe, but I have reverence. Because of the customs of my previous life, that style is dyed into my soul, so I cannot receive the blessings of the gods.

Because the World Laws state that gods give miracles to believers through the medium of faith, I cannot acquire skills related to ‘faith’.

”However, a knight who serves the country and a knight as a class defined by the world are slightly different, so perhaps that is the influence.”

At these words of mine, Papa, Mama, and Jiji Entier narrow their gazes… Parent Entier is a Male Alchemist, so I can understand this reaction,

”Serving the country, protecting the country, and protecting the king who lives there… in other words, protecting royal authority is the duty or the knighthood as a title,” Papa Entier explained.

 ”…You are not wrong.”

”On the other hand, a knight as a class is given when the individual decides who they should serve and protect and is accepted by the other party.”

”Wait, do you know the conditions for Class Up!?”

 ”Not all of them, though.”

My own Class Up is impossible, but for major roles like knights and warriors, they were verified during the game era of my previous life. And since being born into this world, I have also confirmed it during the period when I scoured past documents.

I thought this area was managed by the country, but is it different? Maybe I should just pass on the knowledge and throw it at the research institute.

”Gods and World Laws look the same but are different, so the system of Class Up is that the World Laws certify it after passing through the gods. On the other hand, in the case of a person without a sect like me, I cannot receive the knighthood unless I receive direct certification from the World Laws, so it is extremely difficult.”

”I see, that is why royalty, whose royal authority is recognized by the gods, can Class Up into knights,” Papa Entier noted.

Papa Entier mutters as if convinced after hearing my words.

”But, this hasn’t been proven as fact, has it?”

”Researching that is our job. Tatara-kun, what about the research materials?”

”They are in the history books, autobiographies, and folklore sections of the Metropolitan Library… no, the archives.”

I memorize the names of the books and management numbers and read them out as they are. Since there are about 60 books, the number of books is not that large, but the people who are the subjects reach nearly 1,000 people, so it should be a reference.

…By the way, why is everyone looking at me like I’m a monster halfway through saying the book names and management numbers?

”Tatara, you are a diligent student with a good memory,” Mama Entier complimented.

”Why are you saying that with a slightly hesitant look?”

I take some damage from Mama Entier’s reaction; is it that strange? Also Mia, why do you have such a sad expression?

”…Do you have any other hidden knowledge?”

”Eh… come to think of it, do you know that if you maximize your status before the ‘Sublimation of Existence’, and then ‘Equip’ ‘Prayer of the Earth Mother’ and ‘Blessing of the Earth Mother’ when you raise it next, you can definitely get the maximum value?”

 ’We don’t know that!?’

When I presented information that Yohira and the others had previously claimed to know nothing about, everyone let out a loud shout. Is this also knowledge that the country does not possess?

”I mean Tatara, what is this about being guaranteed to draw the maximum value if you equip those two things!?” Yohira asked.

”First of all, you know that if you equip ‘Blessing of the Earth Mother’ and ‘Prayer of the Earth Mother’ at the same time, your status is guaranteed to increase upon leveling up, right?” Tatara replied.

”First of all, don’t assume that is common sense!?” Yohira shouted.

Ah, I guess this is the part I have to explain from the beginning.

”Um, do you understand that ‘Prayer of the Earth Mother’ says it doubles the probability of a status increase when leveling up?” Tatara asked.

 ”…Is that so?” Mia replied.

”Yes, and ‘Blessing of the Earth Mother’ has the effect of increasing the probability by a factor of five.” Tatara explained.

These types of equipment have traditionally existed since past games. Because it was a game where status was hard to raise when leveling up, the standard tactic was to make your favorite character hold these while babysitting them to defeat enemies.

In the very beginning, because you could only equip one piece of equipment, you just ended up using the one with the higher probability, but the problem started when a game came out that allowed you to equip two accessories.

For this ‘Earth Mother Series’, even if you stacked the same equipment, only one effect was adopted. In other words, attaching two ‘Prayers’ didn’t double the effect, and the same went for ‘Blessings’. However, if you equipped ‘Blessing’ and ‘Prayer’ at the same time, the effects were multiplied. Yes, not added, but multiplied.

Moreover, the calculation formula was quite sloppy, and it seems they were multiplying the base probability value by 50 and then by 20, resulting in multiplying the original value by 1000. As expected, the numbers were too stupid.

The official side also didn’t expect this, but because it was a game system with high difficulty from the start, they announced, “This is a gift from the Earth Mother God to all the players.” And this behavior was left in subsequent games.

By the way, not only were many non-existent Earth Mother Gods born in fan art, but there were also strong men who wore them to cosplay events. Don’t make the official side carry the universe based on the hallucinations you guys see.

”What about the amount of increase?” Yohira asked.

”That area depends on the person’s natural qualities or talent, and furthermore, it depends on how much blood they have that is far from human.” Tatara replied.

”What is that? Is there any basis for that?” Entier barked.

”I am the basis.” Tatara said.

 ”…What?” Entier replied.

When I answered the words of Entier, he looked at me suspiciously. Well, this part also needs explanation.

”The most fragile existence in this world is the human race; this is the major premise.” Tatara stated.

Hearing my words, Entier nodded and urged me to continue.

”Humans are physically mediocre and have no outstanding points. Their lifespan is about one-tenth that of fairy races like Elves and Dwarves, they have no Mana, and they lose to Beastman races in physical ability. In the past, the Demon Clan viewed them as food for their souls and Mana, and there is also a history of them being used as outlets for sexual desire. And also—” Tatara said.

”Hey, could you stop there for a moment?” Entier snapped.

When I listed the characteristics of the human race, Entier stopped me. I thought it was quite important, but I suppose talking about comparisons and history endlessly is not the right move.

While apologizing to Entier, who had a strangely unbearable expression, I conveyed what was necessary.

”Such weakest-in-the-humanoid-race humans, unless they have received blood from other races, have their status increase fixed at a minimum of 1 upon leveling up, except for HP, Mana, Skill Power. In fact, the status that increases when I level up is fixed at 5 for HP at most, 3 for Mana and Skill Power, and 1 for everything else.” Tatara explained.

”…You, and yet you are still able to continue being an Explorer.” Entier muttered.

”It’s for the sake of living.” Tatara replied.

Even if I desperately raise my level by 5, Yohira eliminates that gap in a single level up. I am sometimes hurt by that fact, but I am me. It is not a reason to resent this body I received from Father and Mother.

”But just because you are like that, Tatara, doesn’t mean other humans are the same, does it?” Mia asked.

This question is natural, but I have the fact that I know it is set that way in the visual fan book from my previous life, and there is an existence here that can check the answer.

 ”Entier-sama.” Tatara said.

”Yeah, it’s fine that you are polite, but it’s a bit long, so you can go back to the original way.” Entier replied.

”Kalan-sama, is there anyone in my vicinity who can give me the answer to this area… don’t you understand?” Tatara asked.

”No, such a thing… No way.” Entier muttered.

It was only for a moment that he frowned at my question, but Entier immediately realized and widened his eyes.

”But they don’t use words… come to think of it, I remembered that you understand them.” Entier said.

”Yes. By the way, the cause of why only I can understand them is also unknown, and it seems the conclusion is just ‘because it’s me’.” Tatara replied.

”I see, you are ‘Tatara-ing’ in this aspect too.” Entier said.

By the way, I wonder what kind of reaction they would have if I told them that ‘Tatara-ing’ is also recognized by the world… I don’t want to say it, so I won’t.

”…Kalan-sama, what does what Tatara is saying mean?” City Mayorr asked.

”No, this is a bit… perhaps it is something like a bond or fate. Neither I nor Tatara can talk about it; I don’t know what would be done to us.” Entier replied.

Entier answered the City Mayorr’s question with a difficult expression. I wonder if the City Mayorr would feel more than a stomach ache and vomit if she heard that the person who made the bento she ate at the arena is an existence related to the foundations of this world?

Incidentally, if I told her that I was taught by such an opponent that I would die in about 20 years at this rate, she might treat the ‘Poster Girls’ as grim reapers… I really can’t say it.

”I will return to the subject. It is a premise that humans are too weak and not suited to living in this world. However, there is a strength that they can crossbreed with other strong races.” Tatara explained.

”…So, the variation in growth is the result of accepting blood from the outside?” Entier asked.

 ”Yes.” Tatara replied.

Hearing my explanation, Entier was lost in thought, and the two parent Entiers were looking with sharp eyes and thinking about the exchange of information related to the roots of the races that we were having.

 ”Hey, Tatara-chan?” Grandmother Entier chimed.

 ”Chan!?” Tatara exclaimed.

In the midst of that, Grandmother Entier spoke to me, and I was more concerned about the fact that she added ‘chan’ to my name. What is this feeling of distance as if we are family?

”Tatara-chan, do you perhaps also know something about us, the Kin of the Night?” Grandmother Entier asked.

”I, I will continue… it depends on the extent of what you know. For example, why the Goddess of Darkness created the Kin of the Night, or why they are seen as enemies by the Goddess of Light and the ‘Angel’ race.” Tatara replied.

”…Tatara, are you trying to blow up my stomach that much?” City Mayorr asked.

When I answered Grandmother Entier’s question lightly, this time the City Mayorr said such things in a pained voice. Yeah, as expected, is this area dangerous?

”I’ll ask just in case, why do the Goddess of Light and the ‘Angel’s’ hate us?” Entier asked.

”Difference in ideology. The Kin of the Night originated from the Goddess of Darkness mutating humans with her power so that they could endure the harsh environment. On the other hand, the ‘Angel’ race was created and sent by the Goddess of Light to protect humans from external enemies so that they could live in a harsh environment. Because humans have become the same as external enemies, the ‘Angel’ race recognizes the Kin of the Night as enemies, and because they are attacked, the Kin of the Night recognize the ‘Angel’ race as enemies… that is this long history of isolation.” Tatara explained.

When I answered Entier, he let out a grand sigh.

”Is that the reason why our country is made to get into a gunfight with the ‘Angel’s’ many times over…?” Entier growled.

”What is terrible is that the Goddess of Darkness doesn’t think anything of the Goddess of Light, but the Goddess of Light is unilaterally hitting her because she thinks she is right. In the past, humans were weak, so they were worshipped, but now that humans have mixed and expanded their power over a long time, there are few people who worship the Goddess of Light, so it doesn’t fit the times… because she can’t adapt her values to the present, the number of believers is gradually decreasing.” Tatara replied.

”…Don’t tell me she is blaming that on the Kin of the Night?” Entier asked.

”There are people who blame things that don’t go well on people who are doing well, aren’t there?” Tatara said.

 ”Ah, yes.” Entier replied.

Entier let out a listless, convinced voice at my roundabout confirmation. Probably, there must have been many things done to them by other countries and nobles.

 ”…Huh?” Mia asked.

 ”What’s wrong, Mia?” Tatara asked.

Mia, who was listening to my explanation, raised a voice of doubt.

”The Kin of the Night originated from the Goddess of Darkness mutating humans, right?” Mia asked.

 ”Yeah, that’s right.” Tatara replied.

”Then, what about the Elves, Dwarves, and Beastmen?” Mia asked.

”To be blunt, the base of everyone is human. If I dare say, the premise is that the Beastman race is a derivative of the Kin of the Night and diversified as a result of being able to crossbreed with magical beasts, and the fairy race just separated as a result of humans who were given factors from the roots of the spirits whose names are not even known, the highest order of fairy species, increasing in number. In other words, because the root of the s**men is all human, humanoid organisms can crossbreed.” Tatara explained.

”What is that hellish conclusion?” Calmys-san muttered.

When I answered Mia’s question, such a voice leaked out from Calmys-san. In the end, this world is just doing racial discrimination that is just larger in appearance than the skin color problem of my previous life. If I say that, Entier, who takes concubines from all races normally, might be the ultimate egalitarian, but I wonder what it is that he even has pure fairies beyond Elves and Dwarves as concubines?

”…Something, did I receive a disgraceful thought again?” Entier asked.

”Wasn’t it a valid thought?” Tatara replied.

I feel like I had a similar exchange with the Entiers before departing from the Central Administration, but could it be that my thoughts are really reaching them?

”…On top of being a stomach-churning fact, if this is published clumsily, the world will become chaotic.” City Mayorr stated.

”If you research it, you will reach a conclusion, but at the stage of collecting samples, you will be taken as irreverent or presumptuous by the gods, and it will be a heresy inquisition… or rather, you will be recognized as an enemy of humanity.” Tatara added.

”I want to look into it, but I don’t want to die, so I can’t touch it.” City Mayorr replied.

The City Mayorr and the Entiers reached this conclusion as if they had given up. Certainly, if you tried to investigate such a thing, you would buy great disfavor from the gods, and it would be impossible. It is a fact that should be held in the hearts of the people here until they die.

”Come to think of it, why can you have a child with the ‘Angel’ race?” Entier asked.

”Because the Goddess of Light created them based on humans; the s**men information is the same.” Tatara replied.

When I answered Entier’s question, he made a disgusted face. It looks like the arrogance of humans has also been strengthened as a result of making the s**men information almost the same… The Goddess of Light probably wouldn’t say things like “I strengthened them too much” with a voice like some female hero.

”…I’m sorry, but now that you’ve told me various unpleasant facts about the world.” Entier said.

 ”Yes.” Tatara replied.

”I’d like you to move on to installing the Magic Device soon; we still have work left to do.” Entier said.

 ”Ah, yes.” Tatara replied.

I agreed because I was asked to return to the original requirement.

”Ah, wait. There is still something I should ask…” Entier muttered.

”Kalan, Tatara-chan is prioritizing work. Let’s ask what you want to hear later in another place.” Grandmother Entier said.

Grandmother Entier reprimanded Entier who was trying to stop me. I can’t accidentally say “Grandmother Entier” because it seems related to the age thing.

In the barely furnished Director’s Office, I hung a monitor on a wall that had been cleared by moving the business licenses and certificates with permission. I modified it slightly by adding a capacitor inside to handle emergencies in case Mana runs short due to the operation of research equipment. I missed my chance, maybe I should have done this for the Vigilante Corps as well.

”Hey there, Tatara! If I was hopin’ to get one of these for the house, reckon it’d be possible?” Mom Entier asked.

I was just finishin’ up the install, testing it by toggling the power, and linking it to the Central Administration’s main unit when she chimed in.

”I can do it for you,” I replied. “The price per unit would be… City Mayor?”

”Unless you’re planning on constructing some ludicrous model crafted entirely from Mithril1,” the City Mayor replied with refined restraint. “You should adjust the pricing according to the size specifications.”

”And what would the cost be for the one currently mounted on this wall?” I asked.

”One and a half to two million,” she replied. “The latest modifications have increased the price point.”

That’s about ten times the price of a standard LCD television from my previous life. Perhaps the costs will decrease as the technology gains traction.

”Honestly, though,” I said, “even if you had one now, the only places with the connectivity are this lab, the Central Administration, and the locations I set up today—the Central Hospital, the Immigration Gates, and the Vigilante Corps headquarters.”

”Oh my, and Tatara’s own home is not equipped?” Mom Entier asked.

”I haven’t set it up yet… ah, wait a minute.”

I logged one into my memory and pulled a magitech tablet out of my Inventory. Just to be safe, I configured the Central Administration’s main unit and the others as endpoints for ‘Telepathy’ and ‘Sense Connection.’

”There, it’s linked up to me now,” I said.

(Wait, what on earth was that!?)

Everyone who caught a glimpse of the tablet reacted with sudden shock. I suppose I’ve brought out a magitech word processor before, but this was the first time for a tablet. I really messed that one up.

”It’s just something I put together for a… well, a small reason,” I explained. “Think of it as a prototype for this monitor system.”

”Whatever possessed you to construct such a thing?” the City Mayor asked, having apparently ‘Appraised’ the device.

I could not possibly explain that the primary motivation was to track down a fleeing Tatia.

 ”It’s just… ‘Come out,’” I commanded.

 ”Ta!”

At my instruction, the Golem leader leaped from my Inventory. Mom Entier instinctively reached for her sword, but Grandpa Entier placed a calming hand on her arm.

”I’m just borrowin’ his strength for a moment,” I said. “‘Borrowing vision’.”

 ”Ra!”

Receiving the leader’s consent, the view from its eyes projected onto the tablet’s screen. The City Mayor held her breath at the functionality.

”My goodness, this is…” she began.

”I’m not sure if this function works on other people’s Golems,” I said. “However, if you produce a device identical to the arena cameras, you could synchronize them and achieve a similar effect.”

Since the monitors here and at the hospital are equipped with camera functions, video calls are perfectly feasible. However, borrowing vision directly from the Golems is likely restricted to my own creations and my tablet. Others would certainly require a dedicated camera apparatus.

”…Tatara, are there tactics for this?” Grandpa Entier asked.

”Yes, there are,” I replied. “Together with what Dahlia… the Automaton Maiden was using at the arena yesterday, it’s about overlooking the battlefield from the sky and acquiring information.”

”…Doesn’t require Dragon Knights. A revolution will occur on the battlefield.”

When I answered Grandpa Entier’s question, he said so bitterly. Drone tactics are alien to this world, but there is no doubt they are useful. There is no doubt, but my heart screams at the fact that what I created will kill more people. Even though I have killed a huge amount of monsters during exploration, it’s too late for that now, but it’s arrogant to distinguish between humans only.

”…I honestly want those flying toys to remain toys,” I said. “But, I also think it’s unavoidable to use them effectively to prevent allies from dying on the battlefield.”

”To be able to tell you to ‘get over it’ is because I’m a former politician and stand on the battlefield. You are not a soldier, but a Crafter. You don’t have to get over it, and you don’t have to be satisfied with it.”

Grandpa Entier’s words soak into my heart. This man is truly a charmer.

”Besides, you wouldn’t be able to kill that many people with just one perspective, right?”

”Ah, this currently corresponds to all the Golems I possess. It is possible to select information from 201 ground-type units and 1 bird-type unit.”

”Sorry to take back my previous statement, but you can normally kill a large number depending on how you use it.”

”If you want, if there are even three of them, you can align the vertical and horizontal axes with a map and do super long-range artillery.”

 ”Too dangerous than expected.”

Instead of micro-missiles for Arcane Armor, if I made long-range ballistic missiles, one shot would probably do it. I don’t want to develop them, though. Besides, just scattering micro-missiles from a Flight-type Aarem would cause huge damage… No good, once I start thinking about these things, I recall the tactics I saw in my previous life and throw the word ‘humanity’ in the opposite direction.

”…Tatara-chan, you might have some very dangerous thoughts, but you must not put them out, okay?” Mom Entier warned.

”I won’t,” I promised. “Even I think ‘what is this’ about the content, and if I did it, this country would likely get bashed.”

 ”I’m curious, but I don’t want to hear it…”

The value of heroes like Calmys-san would probably remain, but since it’s a tactic where the value of soldiers would likely disappear. Unless it’s a hero who can run through before a landmine explodes or survive a direct missile hit, everything will become meaningless.

Considering that, in a sense, it might be humane, but it would lead to a burden on heroes and a lack of ethics.

The heroes fighting for the prestige of the country on the other side of the screen, and the vulgar crowd that degrades them into entertainment while watching.

It is a temperament that most humans have to find it difficult to demonstrate empathy for a fire on the other shore, and it is possible anywhere to realize it only when it affects real life. This probably applies to me as well, because even though I had the experience of dying, the anticipation for someone else’s death was thin until my parents died in this world.

”…Even though it’s so small and cute, it has such dangerous uses, too.”

 ”…Ta.”

Mia, who had been listening to our talk, squatted down and patted the leader’s head. In contrast, the leader looks away… Mia, stop doing that sort of thing in a short skirt because it’s visible. I saw white lace for a moment.

”Besides, if Tatara got serious, wouldn’t he be able to end it without letting the opponent do anything?” Papa Entier asked.

”Unfortunately, I’m a student, and even though I do exploration, I haven’t received anti-personnel combat training.”

”No, simply making Golems and using human-wave tactics.”

Grandpa Entier says that to me. Indeed, making Golems and using human-wave tactics would be possible… However, I must not forget.

”The Golems I make are basically this, you know?”

I bring out a new Golem from my Inventory, and my energy is sapped by my usual distorted lookalike.

”…Not making it like this on purpose?”

Grandpa Entier looks alternately at the leader being patted by Mia and the Golem I’m holding sideways, which is a size smaller than me.

”…No, when I make them with a skill, it naturally becomes like this…”

 ”…You’re having a hard time.”

It is certain that it can induce negligence from the appearance, but these guys only have abilities that are a hair’s breadth away from a 25th-floor ‘Mithril Golem.’ Their legs aren’t that fast, their bodies are small, and they aren’t strong enough to rely on them that much.

”It will still be useful in making up for the labor shortage, so assign them to help the medical team or lead evacuations.”

”I see, they could probably do that.”

These guys can only vocalize ‘ta’ and ‘ra,’ but simple communication is possible. If anything, I think the ‘Poster Girls’ are even more difficult because they are silent.

Suddenly thinking of something, I take out the Magic Device that I tried to transcribe the will of the ‘Baito-chou’s’ into text and failed.

”Leader, can I have a moment?”

 ”Ta!”

When I call out to the leader being patted by Mia, he replies happily and approaches. I hand the Magic Device to the leader who looks up at me and connect the ‘Sense Connection.’

 ”Try holding this.”

 ”Ta!”

 ──Understood!

When I let him hold it, the Magic Device immediately showed its effect.

”Good, it seems your words can be translated.”

 ”Ra!”

──I am happy to be of help!

The leader answering with a smile and the Magic Device at hand match in expression. If I mass-produce these and let them carry them, evacuation guidance will be easier.

 ”…Tatara, explanation.”

”It’s a Magic Device for communication that I made for those girls who looked like an Angel race who didn’t speak yesterday. However, with theirs, verbalization was impossible, and it became a weird notation of something like facial expressions… Oh, could this be certified as a medical device for people who can’t speak?”

”Wait until after the City Festival, my stomach is at its limit.”

While watching the leader who became able to talk start frolicking with Mia happily, I got this reaction when I answered the City Mayor who had spoken to me.

I never imagined as someone who is not a god that I would end up using this even for the City Mayor.

”…I wonder if you were thinking of something disturbing just now.”

 ”It’s just your imagination.”

The City Mayor looks at me suspiciously, as if she had received my thoughts, but I look away and answer. I can’t say it honestly.

”Hey, Tatara-kun. Couldn’t you also provide that to this laboratory?”

The one talking to me is Papa Entier. Huh, is that necessary for the laboratory?

”Actually, there are things in experiments where you can’t make noise. At times like that, if we had that Magic Device, it would be a huge help.”

”If that’s the case, I’ll provide it, but… City Mayor?”

”Since the blueprints and technology verification aren’t done yet, I can’t give an answer on the price immediately. Still, let’s see… maybe 100,000 to 200,000 per unit?”

”…Even if I take it from the research budget, can I not prepare the number of units?”

”Tatara, I will not allow donations.”

 ”…Yes.”

When I thought about the usual means because it seemed like they were in trouble, it was crushed immediately. As expected of the City Mayor, she understands my thinking.

”If you don’t always need that many, use them as laboratory equipment and rotate them within the office. 10 units should be enough, right?”

”That’s right… If I sell them officially, I’ll make the staff members who want them buy them with their own money.”

She said something vicious with a smile… That said, operating costs are not free, so they wouldn’t be able to buy them that easily, right?

”If it’s for use in the laboratory, shall I connect this Director’s Office monitor with the emergency line? If we can understand emergency situations, it seems like we can suppress damage.”

”That would really be a huge help!”

Yeah, Papa Entier is also having a hard time. While I realized that the gaze I was directing toward him was becoming tepid, Grandpa Entier calls out to me.

 ”Hey, Tatara.”

”…Please make requests for the Royal Research Institute through the City Mayor.”

”Understood, I’ll request it after the City Festival!”

Yeah, like father like son, Grandpa Entier. Note that the City Mayor’s stomachache is a certainty.

”Time is running out, so it’s about time to dismiss, but… should we also cooperate in suppressing the student’s rowdy behavior?”

”Your status is high, but you’ve been away from actual combat too long, so it’s dangerous, isn’t it?”

Hearing those words from the Entier father, even the veteran Jiji Entier wore a thoughtful expression. Baba Entier also looked as if she couldn’t find the words to say anything.

 ”I can’t exactly call it a safe measure, though…”

To the two of them, I quickly performed ‘Crafting’ and handed over something that had already become familiar to them.

 ”This is…”

”Please check the effects by equipping it.”

Papa Entier received the ‘egg’ and checked its effects. Immediately, his eyes widened and he looked at me.

 ”Tatara, what is this!?”

”I’ll get in trouble if I distribute it for free, so please return it later, okay?”

Well, if HP, Mana, and Skill Power all increase by 100 each and recover by half every minute, it’s no wonder they had that reaction. Mama Entier also looked at the effect and was smiling happily.

 ”Tatara, can I buy this!?”

”Well, it is technically an item for sale, but… it costs at least 90 million, you know?”

”Ugh, as I thought, I can’t buy it with my savings.”

”Even with just mine, it’s impossible. It would be tight even with the family’s shared savings.”

I wonder what it means that even the salaries and savings of a laboratory director and deputy director are tight—no, maybe they are supplementing the shortcomings of their own research… still, that’s quite grim,2 isn’t it?

 ”Tatara, I…”

”Mia, no. I want you to run away rather than fight. That item is for those who fight.”

I replied that way to Mia, who had spoken to me. I am prepared to let Ethelena and the others get involved, but I cannot harbor that same resolution toward her.

”…Lumi, I agree with Tatara’s way of thinking.”

 ”Grandfather…”

Told so by Jiji Entier, my heart hurt a little at the sight of Mia feeling down.

”No matter how much Mia carries the blood of Kalan and the Godslayer, I don’t want you getting involved in things more dangerous than exploration.”

”…Wait, Tatara. Why do you know about Lumi’s blood?”

”Eh? Because Mama Entier is the child of the Godslayer and the [Crimson Flame Witch] Lieberlight Scientia, right?”

”…What kind of knowledge does Tatara have?”

This is bad; this might have been something I shouldn’t have touched upon. After all, Jiji Entier’s face is terribly scary.

”I didn’t think I’d see the faces of such an annoying man and woman when I came to see my cute granddaughter after she was born.”

Wow, there are thick veins bulging on his forehead. Baba Entier is holding him back with a wry smile, but it’s pretty serious.

”I was terrified at that time because Father looked like he was about to start killing people…”

”It was scary that Papa responded and tried to draw his magic sword too…”

Did they almost start killing each other in front of the Entier parents? That’s just before the city is destroyed.

”Yeah, you have such a scary grandfather. If, by some coincidence, even the Godslayer came to this City Festival… at worst, the ‘Whirlwind’ would be blown away.”

 ”Ah, ahahaha…”

”…Don’t tell me, there isn’t a letter saying they are visiting just in time for this, is there?”

When I tried to persuade Mia again, her face twitched at the mention of the Godslayer, and in the end, she even started laughing strangely. I have a bad feeling about this.

”W, well, I don’t know if they’ll make it in time, but they said they were coming on foot…”

”…It’s better that they aren’t coming by teleportation gate, I guess.”

I don’t know who they are bringing with them, but without joking, they have a fighting force of a thousand-man power, so there will definitely be damage to ‘Whirlwind’. I’m thinking of increasing the Golems to 500 units, considering the possibility of having to rebuild a district from scratch.

 ”City Mayorr”

”…What is it? My stomach is at its limit right now.”

”I’m thinking of increasing the Golems to 500 in case a district gets blown away.”

 ”…Just do the preparations.”

It was quite a desperate voice.

”But, I am also trained in exploration to a certain extent, so I can at least defend myself. I also have this sword that Tatara made for me.”

Saying that to me as I consulted with City Mayorr, Mia took out the sword I made for her request from her Inventory. It seems she really uses it in actual combat, as large and small scratches can be seen on its blade.

”…Not a bad sword. Is it a Unicorn horn sword?”

”No, the classification is a steel sword. Because of the rules of this ‘Whirlwind’, to make a production request to a Crafter, you need to request a steel product once, so I finished it cheaply by covering a steel sword with a Narwhal horn.”

”…You really do find a lot of loopholes in the rules.”

When I added a correction to Jiji Entier regarding Mia’s sword, City Mayorr said that. As expected, since I remember all the options around here, she understands how I managed to do it cheaply and clear the steel product problem.

”I actually wanted to make a sword-cane for you with the Mithril I have, but I haven’t been given sales permission…”

”It’s alright. I was able to buy this ‘Spirit King’s Robe’ too.”

She touched the collar of the ‘Spirit King’s Robe’ she was wearing with a smile at my words; she had an atmosphere of being quite used to wearing it, as if she wore it daily.

”…Isn’t this an item that costs 10 million or so?”

”It’s at its lowest value of 2.5 million right now. I appealed to the merchant guild that it was taking too much for its performance, and they lowered the price.”

”…And, at what price did you sell it?”

 ”2.5 million.”

 ”Tatara, you…”

Wait, am I being told that even with this?

”Wait, that’s made from the materials of a ‘Lich’, right?”

 ”Yes, that’s right.”

”Then, how did you obtain it?”

 ”By killing it normally.”

When I answered directly what Baba Entier was questioning, they made a surprised expression. Well, originally, if that thing appeared, it would be a situation where you would need to prepare an elite priest troop or summon a saint, but.

”If you prepare a Fire Attribute weapon, it’s easy.”

”Attribute weapons need materials that can be obtained from the 45th floor onwards, and ‘Lich’ appears from the 31st Floor, so why… wait, you haven’t graduated yet, so you’re doing laps on your own, right?”

That’s true, but I think it would have been a bit slower around here if Dahlia hadn’t been there. If that guy hadn’t voluntarily gone to clear the floors and collect the core stones, there wouldn’t have been the current clear pace.

Especially since we only encounter Rare enemies due to Tatia’s skill, even reaching the 50th Floor would have been doubtful.

”…Attribute weapon, huh… Tatara’s weapons have an impression of being a bit unusual.”

”Well, I won’t deny it. It’s like this.”

I took out an ‘Elemental Hammer’ from my Inventory, holding it in a position with the grip on the ground and holding the shaft.

Everyone approached to see it, curious about my weapon, but the one who raised their voice first was City Mayorr, who possesses ‘Appraisal’.

”You, what is a variable-attribute weapon!?”

”Everyone in our party has one. If you want, we even have equipment that absorbs all attributes except light and dark.”

”How can you make something like that!?”

Now that I think about it, I don’t remember reporting this area… I screwed up.

Leaving us aside, the Entier father is looking at the weapon with the eyes of a Male Alchemist.

”…The joint between the shaft and the head, I wonder.”

”Yes, there is an engraving I’m not familiar with on the mechanism that rotates. I wonder if you rotate the parts with this to switch the core stones?”

”Amazing. Even if I thought of it, I wouldn’t be able to realize it. This is what you call Tatara-ing, isn’t it?”

 ”That’s right, it’s Tatara-ing, isn’t it?”

I guess my treatment among the Entier parents is definitely this now. There are still things I want to give to these two, but… I wonder if they are going home tonight?

While pushing City Mayorr onto Calmys, I spoke to the Entier parents.

”Um, are you two, the Entier parents, available?”

 ”Yes, what is it?”

 ”What is it?”

”There is one more thing I want to lend you, but are you at the laboratory tonight? Or at home?”

”Well, I go home every night.”

Yeah, then I’ll forge two ‘Yakkiri’ tonight and give them to you. Ah, I also have to give them to Gigi and Baba Entier… I’ll forge five at once, including the one I’m lending to Mia.

”In that case, I will have my bird-shaped Golem delivered tonight. I would like your address.”

”Ah, in that case, in the nobles’ district…”

I confirmed the address and recognized again that these people are nobles, even if they aren’t anonymous royals. Well, it seems they don’t have a territory, but… conversely, can’t I have them hold one?

As I thought that, Mia made a somewhat dissatisfied face. Her cheeks were puffed up like a pufferfish.

”Don’t puff up your cheeks so much. It is quite unbecoming for a lady of your station, is it not?”

”I am not, I am not being childish.”

”Ah, I see. If anything, you have a beautiful face, Mia.”

”That is not what I meant!”

Mia’s face turned red in a state where it wasn’t clear if it was anger or shame. While soothing her a little, I wanted to earn her favor by giving her the Mithril sword-cane I made earlier. However, it would cause trouble if I gave it away strangely… I wonder if I can get Jiji Entier to cooperate?

 Shall I gamble a little?

”Alright, alright, I apologize. I shall present this to you, so do forgive me.”

I said that and took out the Mithril sword-cane and held it out to Mia. She widened her eyes significantly after looking at the item in my hand.

 ”T, this is!?”

”I crafted it on the day I received the request for that sword. I do not create such items unless there is a request, so it remained in my possession. It is a poor way to seek forgiveness, but please accept it.”

Mia looked at my face with a surprised expression, but the next moment, she shook her head.

”Nay, I cannot accept such an extravagant item.”

”Indeed, it would be most improper for one to not receive payment for such a work. One cannot fathom the sheer effort an Explorer must endure to obtain Mithril, nor the immense dedication a master Crafter must apply to their technique… though, I suppose you are quite the exception, are you not?”

City Mayorr tried to agree with Mia’s refusal, but her words cut off halfway as she recalled my characteristics.

”…Why is it that Tatara does not comprehend these difficulties, City Mayorr?”

”This young man, from the very moment of his birth, has been able to manipulate metals via his skills with but a slight shift in methodology, my dear.”

”Is this truly what they mean by ‘Tatara-ing’?”

When Jiji Entier asked City Mayorr, City Mayorr explained my ecology. As a result, my evaluation for Tatara-ing has increased even more. My treatment as a human has gone down, though.

”Pray tell, Tatara-chan, is the ability to manipulate Mithril truly such an extraordinary feat?”

”Normally, a ‘Crafting’ skill rank of II or higher is required, but I was able to do it from rank I.”

”That indeed confirms why your actions are referred to as ‘Tatara-ing’, I suppose.”

When I answered because Baba Entier asked, she said that with a wry smile. I feel like we are getting closer, almost as if she sees me as a grandson.

”It seems that being able to forge Orichalcum and Adamantite is something to boast about, but honestly, I think what kind of work you can make is more important than whether you can forge such Magic Metal.”

An Orichalcum sword made by a student vs. a steel Katana forged by a Master. If you ask which one has more value, it’s the latter. In the first place, the Master’s Katana has an existence of incomprehensible strength that can slash even if the opponent is Orichalcum.

It is a hobby of mine to develop new things or create advanced technologies, but what is required of a Chief Crafter is likely one of the two: having technology with no reproducibility or being in a domain where basic Ability cannot be surpassed by anyone.

While I might possess the ability to use my past-life knowledge and the skills that enable their development, I certainly meet the requirements to be the next Chief Crafter, but I wonder about my basic abilities. Well, it is true that I can forge a sword in less than an hour, but it feels like anyone could do that if they just utilized their skills.

”I see, it makes sense that Tatara-chan would become the Chief Crafter since you can make weapons like this, for real!” Seras chirped.

”Thank you very much… Seras Queen Your Majesty,” I replied.

”Oh, wait, what?” Seras asked, clearly confused.

I was bewildered when she seemed confused by my formal thanks. What could it be?

”Um, is ‘Baba Entier’ or ‘Grandma’ okay?” I offered.

”Wait, were you serious about that!?” she exclaimed.

Even though she is much older, I find it hard to call a woman who clearly looks under 30 “Baba Entier” or “Grandma,” don’t you think?

”Eh, why won’t you call me that!?” Seras pressed.

”Because looking at you, Seras-sama, I can’t call you ‘Baba’ or ‘Grandma.’ You clearly look like an older sister, at the very least!” I countered.

”Even though I’m a mother of five!?” Seras retorted.

”You don’t look like it at all!!” I shouted.

Ah, this is bad. Based on this reaction, she has completely decided that I am family. I only just remembered now, but she is surprisingly quick to close the distance and lower her guard when dealing with someone younger. After all, when she appeared in the second work featuring Jiji Entier as the protagonist, she “ate” a young boy simply because he resembled Jiji Entier when he was little, and depending on the route, they even went on a journey together… although the letters that followed mentioned some painful things.

”Then, how about… ‘Mother’?” Seras suggested.

”No, I certainly had a City Mayor, a Sister, and other mother figures, but…” I explained.

”See, then that works!” Seras beamed.

”No, I really have no intention of adding any more mothers besides my mother-in-law. It would be disrespectful to my deceased mother,” I stated firmly.

”Oh, ah… I’m sorry,” Seras muttered.

That was a mistake; I chose my words poorly. It’s not that I want her to apologize, but it is honestly impossible for me to see this person as a mother. Well, it might be better than being told to be “rebirthed” by Ethelena, though.

”Sigh. Seras, you really are getting too close to a man of that age,” Jiji Entier noted softly.

”Yeah… I reckon I got a little carried away,” Seras replied.

”It’s not rare for you to take a liking to someone, but to this extent?” Jiji Entier asked.

”A lot has happened in half a day, you know,” Seras giggled.

Listening to the two of them talk, I get the feeling that I’m once again headed toward being called a seducer by those around me. What is this?

”…That’s right, Tatara,” Jiji Entier said.

 ”Ah, yes,” I answered.

”Dedicate that sword-staff to me,” Jiji Entier commanded.

 ”…Is that a joke?” I asked.

”No, that’s how it sounds, but I reckon it ain’t,” Jiji Entier replied.

I knew what was coming, but I tried to create a cushion. Jiji Entier just answered with a bitter smile. Well, since it aligns with my own goals, I dropped to one knee and offered the sword-staff with both hands.

”…Your Majesty, here you go,” I said.

”Good grief, don’t get so formal all of a sudden… but, I will accept it,” Jiji Entier mused.

He took the sword-staff from my hands and examined the craftsmanship.

”…No, the quality is even better than I imagined,” Jiji Entier remarked.

”It’s about three levels above a standard item,” I added.

”Is that all it is…” Jiji Entier whispered.

”I could make one five levels higher with ease right now. In fact, if I don’t hold back, I can’t make anything less than that,” I said.

”Are you insane, seriously?” Jiji Entier asked.

I face my shortcomings and hone my skills through daily training in the ‘Sky Rift.’ I have no intention of letting my skills atrophy.

Jiji Entier turned toward Mia, his atmosphere shifting.

It’s amazing how he switched from ‘Grandfather’ to ‘Former Emperor Your Majesty’ in an instant. Mia, standing across from him, had frozen before that dignity.

 ”──Kalmia Scientia,” Jiji Entier intoned.

 ”Y-yes!” Mia yelped.

Called by her name, her voice cracked from the sheer tension. No, if that were done to me suddenly, I’d have the same reaction, so I can’t laugh. Actually, I did something similar this morning.

”In reward for your labor in testing the new Magic Device for research and contributing to the development of this country, I grant you this. Receive it,” Jiji Entier decreed.

 ”Y-yes…” Mia whispered.

Mia accepted the sword-staff while shaking slightly. Even though she was aiming for this from the start, I have to admit I feel sorry for her.

”…That thing, it looks like it was originally made by Tatara for you,” Jiji Entier said.

 ”Eh?” Mia gasped.

”Use it. That weapon won’t break just from a little wear and tear,” Jiji Entier advised.

After saying that gently, Jiji Entier lightly tapped Mia on the shoulder. After Mia turned her gaze toward me, she stood up and walked over.

 ”Tatara-kun, this…” Mia began.

 ”It’s just a leftover I couldn’t sell,” I said.

I didn’t reveal my true feelings; a boy has his pride.

”…Yeah, I’ll cherish it,” Mia promised.

Whether she knew my true feelings or not… no, she probably realized it. Mia smiled gently and said that.

”…By the way, Tatara, I’ll give you a noble title, so how about you marry either my granddaughter or my daughter?” Jiji Entier asked with a twinkle in his eye.

”Are you trying to destroy my stomach!?” I yelled.

Tatara’s very first golem, later enhanced using Adamantite and Orichalcum.

Its appearance resembles a chibi-style version of Tatara equipped with the “Black Iron” set, complete with a silly ahoge antenna on its head befitting a leader.

Unlike the other golems, it can speak—though only in single syllables. It can only pronounce “ta” and “ra,” but its intonation is expressive enough that people can usually understand what it means.

As the leader, it possesses Command Ability and can recharge the other golems. Its abilities have also increased due to the growth of Tatara’s “Golem Crafting” skill.

The name “Perfectbility” was apparently assigned on its own without Tatara’s input… probably due to interference from “Chef.”

 Summary:

Tatara finds himself surrounded by the Entier family, who have become unnervingly enthusiastic about assigning him nicknames and uncovering his hidden knowledge about the world’s underlying mechanics. Despite his attempts to keep his distance, Mia protects him from the pressure of her elders, while he contemplates the grave consequences of revealing too much information. The scene concludes with the group realizing the extent of Tatara’s game-like knowledge, leaving his secret status and future safety hanging in the balance.

Tatara explains the complex meta-lore of the world to the Entier family and the City Mayorr, revealing that humans are the base race for all other species and that the ‘Kin of the Night’ conflict is rooted in divine misunderstandings. The group is left unsettled by the implications of this information, fearing divine retribution if it were made public. The scene concludes with the group moving on to the installation of Magic Devices while keeping these secrets buried.

Tatara installs a monitor and magitech tablet in his office, showcasing advanced capabilities to his family and the City Mayor. The demonstration leads to a discussion on the ethical implications of using Golem-linked cameras for tactical warfare. Despite concerns over potential misuse, Tatara agrees to help implement communication devices and monitoring systems for the laboratory.

Tatara interacts with the Entier family, revealing his advanced crafting abilities and specific knowledge about their lineage.
