Volume 1 Chapter 29 Encounter Result – The Vision Of Betrayer
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
’Nao-nii, what’s wrong? You’re making a strange face.’
’Today, I came to say goodbye to Suzuri-chan.’
’Goodbye? Why? What’s going on?’
’I’m sorry, but I can’t spend time with ya anymore. I got so many things I gotta do now.’
’No! I’ll help you with whatever you need. I’ll help you with anything!’
’Thank ya. I’m really grateful. But this is somethin’ I gotta do on me own, I can’t ask anyone for help.’
’No! No, why are you saying that? Is it because I’m a bad girl?’
’No, Suzuri-chan is a good girl. It’s me who’s bad──so please, stay a good girl.’
’Nao-nii? Nao-nii──!’
”Nao-nii…”
She awoke to the sound of her own voice calling out to him.
The unfamiliar ceiling of an unfamiliar room, and the overwhelming sense of fatigue throughout her body.
The smooth, slightly cold sensation of the sheets tempted her to close her eyelids once more.
But before that──.
”Nao-nii? Are you here?”
”I’m right here. What’s up?”
A hand was placed on her head with a gentle tap, and with that simple gesture, the anxiety evoked by the memory of their past farewells faded away.
Naoshi, with one knee raised and his cheek resting on his hand, was gazing at a foreign film playing on the large television in the room, his expression bored.
The distant profile, gazing at something far away, was bathed in the ever-changing blue light of the movie, casting complex shadows.
She continued to stare at him in silence for a while.
”I love you.”
”Are ya still half-asleep?”
His gaze, which had been fixed on the distance, suddenly turned towards her, his expression now one of mundane exasperation.
While the thought that had just crossed his mind was indeed outputted as it was, it didn’t seem like the most appropriate response to a declaration of love.
Suzuri, feeling slightly miffed, gave his thigh a light tap.
”Ouch.”
Ignoring Naoshi’s exaggerated cry of pain, she rose, her body now energized by a small spark of anger.
She must have been drenched in sweat, but her body, dressed only in a bathrobe, felt dry and comfortable, with no trace of discomfort.
”Oh, I wiped ya down while ya were sleepin’. Yer face was all sticky, yer body was covered in sweat, and yer crotch was soaked in juices. Yer underwear is by the pillow.”
”I wasn’t sleeping, I was knocked out…! You pervert…”
Her face turning red, she first put on her panties, sliding her legs into them while still in bed.
The neatly folded garment, perfectly tri-folded, only served to remind her of the humiliation she had endured.
”That’s so mean, shouldn’t ya say thank ya first?”
”You should apologize for making me pass out from pleasure first.”
”I gave ya a memorable gift on our first date──yer first lost-in-pleasure orgasm.”
”I never asked for that, and everything about this is just too much…!”
”Hmm, hmm,” Naoshi replied, as usual, in a dismissive tone. He turned off the television, raising the corners of his mouth in a smirk, a truly evil smile.
Suzuri’s back involuntarily shuddered.
”But, it felt good, right?”
”You womanizer…”
”Huh? Didn’t it?”
Suzuri couldn’t bring herself to reject his question a second time.
”…It felt really good.”
”I’m glad to hear that.”
”So, what should we do? Take a shower?”
”Honestly, my body feels heavy, and I’m so sleepy. I think I’ll just sleep now and take a shower in the morning.”
”Alright.”
”Nao-nii, can you lie next to me? And give me a pillow with your arm.”
”Okay, okay, ya really are a spoiled child.”
”It’s fine, at least let me have this much.”
Suzuri retorted, and Naoshi, shrugging his shoulders, crawled into the bed.
As the blanket was lifted, she tried to maintain her composure in the face of the lingering scent and heat of their intercourse, and she surrendered her body to his arms.
”Nao-nii.”
”Hmm?”
”Kiss me, like the first kiss you give to your princess of first love, gently.”
”Ya bein’ too specific with yer orders. This princess is really somethin’…”
With a wry smile, he gently pressed his lips against hers, and the kiss, though simple, was just what she wanted.
”Good night.”
”Okay, good night. I’ll be right next to ya when ya wake up.”
”Yeah──.”
* * *
”Wow, she’s really a good sleeper.”
Naoshi gently stroked the girl’s cheek, which had already started to show peaceful sleeping breaths as soon as she closed her eyes. He smiled softly.
But tonight had been quite intense, and they had done a lot of physical activity exploring the dungeon during the day. It was no surprise she was tired.
But a dungeon under Umeda?
If there were alien materials, creatures, or mysterious energy coming from there, it would definitely feel like a modern dungeon story was starting.
That would be cool; He doesn’t mind modern dungeons.
Though, the settings around the economy and military were usually pretty bland, and they often hinted at trouble early on but never really tied up those loose ends.
But unfortunately, that wasn’t the direction things were going.
All that appeared were ayakashi, and there were no items dropping or experience points to gain, so the modern dungeon story ended there, and Kazuramichi Naoshi’s story of death flags would continue.
Damn it.
But thinking about it, it seemed like side characters in modern dungeon stories often died, right? It was a way to show the harshness of the world and the fleeting nature of being an explorer, using death as an important element.
So, either way, he had no escape, which was pretty bad, right?.
”Ugh…”
Why was the world so cruel? He felt like he had been sighing a lot more when he was alone.
If he hadn’t felt Suzuri’s growth during the day, he would have been in total despair.
And now, he had even more things to worry about.
Mibu Itsuki, a first-class exorcist, the same age as him.
”Itsuki, Itsuki… what was I even talkin’ about?”
Naoshi had become harsher towards him, but he didn’t completely lack feelings.
It was just that Itsuki was a confusing presence.
His pretty-boy face was annoying, but there was also something about him that felt like he might betray the main characters and side with the enemy.
And it felt like there was some dark, heavy emotion coming from him towards me as well.
Well, there’s a straightforward reason for his anger──he lost his position as the strongest, so it’s not completely off-base.
Still, if there’s another chance, I should take Itsuki’s advice and calmly listen to him.
If he were to betray them, he would be a better bargaining chip than anyone else, so it was essential to reassess and rebuild their relationship.
If he let his guard down, he might get stabbed with a poisoned knife.
He could see movements like his cousin’s, but the truly scary things were the unseen movements.
But still, there weren’t any organizations of ayakashi that opposed humans, so it should be fine.
…Right? Strong ayakashi with intelligence were usually individualistic, and they had all sorts of different stances toward humans, so there was no real unity among them.
But if there was something that connected them, it was probably their resentment toward humans.
That’s why the last sudden appearance of ayakashi—the Kansai Disturbance—was seen as dangerous, but their motives were quite petty.
”Hmm…”
Suzuri next to him stirred slightly.
──Let’s stop here for now. I don’t have any materials anyway.
He interrupted his thoughts, turned off the light by the bedside, and closed his eyes as well.
He wished that at least while he was sleeping, he wouldn’t have to be afraid of the future.
