Volume 1 Chapter 35 The Royal Capital’S Martial Tournament – Part I

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Since the attack by Kalarisk, 6 months have passed without any incidents.

During this time, we have been living peacefully and happily.

We enjoy the little joys of everyday life, savoring each day.

My Space-Time Magic progress is going well, and I can now use up to the 7th rank without chanting.

Every day, I work on improving my magic skills, aiming for even greater heights.

Training with Rumi and Nana has been fun, as we motivate each other to grow.

Rumi has become skilled in advanced earth and fire magic, while Nana can freely use advanced wind magic without chanting.

I feel happy and encouraged seeing them grow.

I can’t wait for the day when the 4 of us, including Alice, can go on an adventure together.

I believe that the laughter and excitement of our adventures will deepen our bond even more.

At night, the dining table is lit with a warm light, and the aroma of dinner fills the air.

During dinner, as we all enjoy each other’s company, Dad Izana surprisingly speaks up.

”Everyone, I’m going to participate in the Martial Tournament in the royal capital, Lorensia. Will you come to watch?”

”Oh, it’s already that time… I need to work hard to maintain my S-rank!”

Mom Emma responds with a gentle smile.

 Everyone’s faces show excitement.

According to the knowledge I gained from ‘Princess Rave’, the Royal Capital Martial Tournament is a tournament held every 4 years to determine the S-rank adventurers.

Adventurers of B-rank and above are eligible to participate, and I remember about a thousand people gathered in the game.

Weapons are divided into 6 types, and magic into 6 types, making a total of 12 categories. The winners of each category receive the title of S-rank adventurer, along with luxurious prizes and rewards from the queen and her daughter.

”…The Martial Tournament, Dad participated in the last tournament, right?”

If Dad was in the last tournament, I really wanted to see it…

”Oh, I guess I didn’t tell Rob… At that time, Nana was only one year old, and I couldn’t take my eyes off her… I went to the royal capital alone and came back right after the tournament ended.”

Dad smiled a bit shyly as he started to talk about the past.

Remembering Nana’s innocent smile warmed my heart a little.

For the next Martial Tournament, our whole family (of course, Rumi too) decided to go to the royal capital to support Dad.

I can’t stop feeling excited about what kind of matches Dad will show us.

* * *

Early in the morning, we were on a shared carriage heading to the royal capital, Lorensia.

Inside the bumpy carriage, Nana sat to my left and Rumi to my right, making me feel really good… They both snuggled up to me, which felt a bit hot, but it was also nice.

”Lorensia,” the royal capital, is a town located almost in the center of Altia, where the queen’s castle is. It’s the most prosperous place in the country, with a population of about 150,000, including around 30,000 soldiers and about 6,000 adventurers.

I felt a buzz of excitement in my heart about going to such a lively place.

From Grove to the royal capital, Lorensia, we were heading northwest, and it seemed we would arrive around snack time, between lunch and dinner.

”Brother Rob, please open your mouth.”

When I turned to Nana’s voice, her bright smile jumped into my view.

 ”…Huh? Ah──ahh…munch!”

As I opened my mouth wide as she said, at that moment, something was put into my mouth.

”Hehe… I made these sweets myself. Please enjoy them!”

I felt a lot of love from my angelic (younger) sister’s smile.

After all, sweets made by my sister are the best.

 ”Munch munch… Huh? …W-what, Rumi?”

This time, Rumi pushed a sweet right up to my mouth.

”I made sweets too, so eat this!”

…It looks like she won’t move her hand until I eat it.

Rumi, looking shy, is also cute.

 ”Ah, ahh… munch… munch munch!”

 Nana’s sweet treats and Rumi’s salty snacks… it’s not a bad combination.

Dad and Mom are watching us with smiles.

”Really, you two get along well.”

”It’s funny how both of you are competing for Rob’s attention.”

At those words, my face turned a little red.

”Munch munch… gulp… I’ll make both of you happy!”

With strength in my (my own) words, they both smiled back at me.

Enjoying the carriage ride like that, with nothing special happening and time flowing happily, we finally arrived in the royal capital, Lorensia.

The lively town and beautiful scenery filled my eyes, making my heart race.

* * *

 The royal capital, Lorensia.

In the center stands a vast castle, and the town is filled with colorful flags, wrapped in the excitement just before the Martial Tournament.

The excited voices of the people mixed with the powerful sound of drums, raising everyone’s spirits.

This town has a big street that goes straight from the castle to the gates in all 4 directions, dividing it into 4 different areas, each with its own unique features.

In the northeast, there are training grounds for soldiers, places to stay, a weapons storage, and a blacksmith. The Adventurers’ Guild is also located here.

The arena for the Martial Tournament uses one of the training grounds.

It’s a place where people come every day to sharpen their skills and prepare for intense battles.

In the southeast, there are knight schools for children, magic schools, and research facilities for magic, where future heroes are being raised.

I can picture young talents chasing their dreams with hopeful eyes.

Here, those still growing learn new sword techniques and magic, making it an important place for aspiring knights and adventurers.

The southwest is a quiet residential area where local people live peacefully.

There are also places for adventurers and merchants to stay, giving travelers a safe place to relax.

The pleasant breeze flows through, and the calm atmosphere here soothes the heart.

The northwest is a lively commercial district.

The streets are lined with stalls, weapon shops, armor shops, tool shops, magic item shops, and grocery stores.

The cheerful voices of shopkeepers and the happy laughter of customers fill the air, creating a festive atmosphere.

Walking down the street, I can see so many items that catch my eye, with fresh food and handmade goods, all surrounded by smiling faces.

We decided to walk through the lively streets before the festival and grab a bite to eat in the northwest commercial district.

The delicious smells made us excited as we wondered what to eat.

My heart is full of anticipation for the fun of the upcoming festival and the tasty food we’re about to enjoy.

What kind of food will we encounter? I’m excited.

* * *

The restaurant we chose is ‘Spicy Master Dojo.’

This time, Dad is the main star because he’s participating in the Tournament.

It was only natural that a curry specialty place was chosen.

Even though it was past lunchtime, the restaurant was full of energy.

Customers who love curry were sweating and eating with determination, showing that this place is really lively.

Our family felt a bit out of place, but we were so excited about the charming atmosphere that we didn’t mind.

”Welcome, everyone! …There are 5 of you, right? Please, take a seat here! Five guests, welcome to ‘Spicy Master Dojo!’ We are thrilled to have you!”

We were greeted by the cheerful staff, and we happily took our seats.

There was a menu propped up on the table, and we stared at it with shining eyes.

”Okay, everyone, choose your favorite curry! Here, you can pick the spiciness, so kids should stick to medium spice at most.”

Dad said, eager to eat, swallowing hard as he looked around at everyone.

”Hmm… I think I’ll go for one with lots of vegetables.”

Mom seems to be making a safe choice again.

She tends to pick things that are good for beauty because she usually takes care of herself.

”Mama, I want this one! I want it mild… huh? No mild? …Then I’ll have sweet and spicy mild!”

 Nana quickly decided without hesitation!

Since she might choose some strange dish again, I plan to pick something different this time.

 ”This looks spicy… maybe I’ll challenge myself a bit~♪”

Rumi seems ready to take on something spicy, not just sweet.

”Hmm. If Rumi is challenging herself, maybe I should try something one level up too.”

I’m going to be an adventurer next year.

I’m finally joining the ranks of adults.

 Let’s act like adventurers here!

* * *

Everyone has chosen their dishes this time too.

Dad’s choice is “Beast King’s Spicy Curry: Spiciness (5), Super Spicy Advanced.”

As expected, Dad loves spicy food.

It’s a special sauce made with beast meat, and it’s said to have the amazing spiciness that nobles loved.

Mom’s choice is “Bear Forest Herb Curry: Spiciness (2), Slightly Spicy Challenge.”

It’s a curry packed with lots of vegetables.

The fresh mountain herbs give it a nice aroma, and the flavor of the slowly cooked vegetables spreads throughout the dish.

Nana’s choice is “Curry Wrapped in Angel Wings: Spiciness (1), Sweet and Mild.”

The dish chosen by my little sister, the angel, is truly angelic.

The milky and creamy sauce has a surprising kick! You can taste the essence of an angel in just one bite! …that’s what it says.

Rumi’s choice is ” Thunderous Sea Salt Curry: Spiciness (6), Legendary Super Spicy.”

…Seriously, is this for real, Rumi?

 ……Spiciness (6)……, I couldn’t help but stare at Rumi.

It’s a curry made with luxurious seafood and spices, with a spiciness that hits like thunder, they say.

My choice is “Star Cheese Curry: Spiciness (4), Spicy Challenge.”

After Rumi’s choice, it doesn’t feel like much of a challenge, but it’s a challenge for me.

It’s a curry with creamy cheese inspired by the stars of the universe, they say.

When the dishes arrive, the spectacular curries line up in front of us, and excitement builds up.

Rumi was a bit worried, but everyone finished their meals without any issues, and especially Rumi was awarded the honor of Master for conquering the spiciest curry.

After that, we wandered around the shopping street, captivated by the unique items and event-exclusive products, and before we knew it, time flew by.

That night, we headed to the place we planned to stay, wrapping up the day.

In the room, our smiles and thoughts mixed together, and we couldn’t wait for tomorrow’s Dad’s Martial Tournament to start.

It was sure to be an amazing day.
