”So, it’s a horned mole after all…”
We walked through the town after leaving the Adventurer’s Guild.
Tifi, the beautiful receptionist at the guild, suggested a mission to eliminate horned moles again.
This time, we were tasked with getting rid of the horned moles that munch on the crops underground at a farm.
We had done this before.
I can’t believe we’re doing it again.
But there’s something different this time.
Before, we could hunt moles at a random nearby farm.
Now, we have a specific location to go to.
It’s a town about a day’s journey from the royal capital by carriage, and we need to hunt pests near that farm.
Most of these pests are horned moles, of course.
By the way, Tifi mentioned that a farmer she knows is troubled by horned moles.
She really wanted us to help him out.
It feels like we’re being used, but it’s definitely a good job for me too.
Honestly, it feels nice to be relied upon.
Especially when it’s a gorgeous receptionist with big breasts.
Yes, I admit I have ulterior motives.
I do have Lifia, but that doesn’t matter right now.
Besides, the whole idea of a job where I can level up my adventurer rank without bringing back dirty parts is bothersome.
It seems that being an adventurer is about doing the dirty work after all.
I guess someone like me, who doesn’t want to touch nasty proof parts or goblin ears, is just not cut out for this.
However, to survive in this other world, I need to level up my “Love Hotel” skill.
And to do that, I need to gain experience.
To level up, I have to defeat monsters and gather information about their habitats, types, and behavior.
In the end, being an adventurer is the most efficient way to go.
”Don’t worry, Master! Leave the horned moles to me!”
Lifia is full of energy.
Hunting horned moles was when her magic helped for the first time.
That’s why she’s so excited.
”I’m counting on you!”
”Yes!”
Lifia answered cheerfully, and I added my thanks.
”Just that.”
”?”
I look at Lifia.
”We need to collect the horn of the horned mole without causing damage to the field. Can you do it?”
”Uh, um, well…”
Suddenly, Lifia acts suspiciously.
This seems tough.
Lifia’s Spirit Magic can’t make precise adjustments.
If she casts an attack spell carelessly, the field could blow up.
There’s a high chance the horn, our proof of defeat, will be shattered too.
”I’m so sorry…”
Lifia looks down sadly.
”It’s okay.”
I pat Lifia’s blonde hair to comfort her.
”I have a way for you to shine.”
”Thank you so much!”
Lifia’s face lights up with a big smile, her eyes sparkling.
She’s so cute.
After walking for a while, Lifia whispered a warning.
”Master…”
”I thought so.”
”Yes, it’s probably that same pair from last time.”
Here we go again.
Like before, it seems some troublemaker adventurers are tailing us.
We could flee to a “Love Hotel” room again, but running away all the time isn’t smart.
Honestly, handling it the same way each time is a bother.
What should we do?
”Master, let me handle it.”
”Can you hold back? We can’t have dead bodies in the town street.”
”I’m fine!”
Lifia looks full of confidence.
Maybe I should let her try.
We deliberately stepped into a narrow alley where there were fewer people.
Sure enough, the same duo caught up behind us.
These punks had bothered us before at the adventurer guild.
”What do you want?”
I wait for them and call out, making them hesitate for a moment.
But they quickly sneer with ugly grins.
”We don’t want the guy; get lost and give us the girl. We won’t let you escape this time.”
”Hey little lady, we’re here to teach you something nice.”
They creep closer while joking around.
”If you get any closer, I won’t hold back.”
Lifia warns them coldly.
But the thugs just laugh loudly.
”Hahaha! What are you gonna do?”
”You’re getting too cocky!”
One of them swung a punch at me.
”Go ahead, do it!”
”Yes. Moorum, Air Palm!”
In the moment Lifia chanted the spell, with a crisp, refreshing sound, the bandit’s jaw was shot through.
”Guh!”
Letting out a foolish groan, the bandit lost consciousness on the spot and collapsed.
”Wha- what was that…?”
