Volume 2 Chapter 20 Card Key
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
We entered the Love Hotel and decided to take a break for now.
It would be nice to wash off our fatigue and freshen up, but there’s something I want to check first.
It’s a new feature of the Love Hotel.
When I passed level 10 before, the fridge’s function changed.
It started registering drinks I stored before, and I could refill them by spending MP.
Maybe at level 20, some new function has been added again.
I thought maybe each milestone brings some upgrades.
Of course, I have no proof.
It’s just a hope.
I quickly opened the menu and started looking through every part.
I searched for any new options that might be there.
”There it is!”
After staring at the menu for a while, I noticed a strange item in the item sales section.
’Card Key: 250 MP’
This hadn’t existed before.
I read the details of the item.
”What…?”
As I kept reading, I was suddenly surprised.
”What!?”
I couldn’t help but shout out.
”Master, this…”
Lifia, who was watching next to me, quickly understood what it meant.
”Yeah, we’re going back to the surface right now.”
”Yes!”
We hurriedly got ready and decided to leave the Love Hotel.
We need to see how much potential this new feature has.
For now, actions to explore that are more important.
Clearing the dungeon can wait.
Or maybe I should go back once again, for the purpose of the conquest.
* * *
We changed our plans and quickly went back to the surface.
After escaping the dungeon, we headed straight to the Adventurers’ Guild.
When we arrived, Tifi wasn’t at the reception.
Maybe she was busy doing something else inside.
”Excuse me.”
”Yes, how can I help you?”
I asked another receptionist since she wasn’t there.
The response came from a woman with red hair, a bit of a gal vibe.
”I’m Taro, an adventurer. I’d like to see Ms. Tifi, please.”
”Ah, you must be Mr. Taro!”
The red-haired receptionist responded with a bright voice and stared at me.
I felt something curious in her gaze.
”I’ve heard from Tifi, you’re a handsome guy.”
Seriously?
”Just like Tifi said, not bad at all. I like guys with a bit more muscle, though.”
Is that so?
I looked back at Lifia behind me.
”But I’ve heard you are amazing at night, right? She says you can make the elf girl happy too. Seems like you have what it takes!”
What on earth is Tifi telling her?
The red-haired receptionist smiled slyly, enjoying my awkwardness.
”Tifi! Your beloved has come!”
The gal yelled out toward the back.
”What!? Nancy, that’s too loud!”
Tifi came running out with a flushed face.
”Mr. Taro! Welcome back. You were quick this time.”
She quickly stepped out from behind the counter to attend to me.
I felt glad she prioritized me over other work, but I worried it might be too much favoritism.
”Sorry, was everything okay this time?”
”It’s fine, Mr. Taro is a rising star in the guild. A little flexibility isn’t a problem.”
Hearing Tifi cheerfully say that brought me some relief inside.
As long as it doesn’t affect her standing in the guild, it’s all good.
”Really, I’ve never heard of anyone hunting Sword Deer at Iron Rank. You’re really something despite your looks.”
Nancy said this with a mix of admiration.
I guess we are making quite the earnings, even from the guild staff’s point of view.
And they don’t really need to mention my looks.
”Then tell me more next time.”
”Sure, next time.”
Teased by the red-haired receptionist Nancy, we moved toward the back.
As usual, we entered a private room.
The other staff didn’t seem to mind us entering, as if they were used to it.
”So, the sudden return means something happened? Maybe that bounty?”
Once inside the private room and closing the door, Tifi’s face became a little serious.
But I shook my head.
”No, it’s not that. I wanted to give you this.”
Saying that, I took out a golden shining card key from my pocket.
I handed it to Tifi while saying,
It looked like an ordinary card, but it had a bit of a fancy feel to it.
”It’s a present for you, Tifi.”
”Wow, it’s beautiful! Thank you! …So, what is this?”
Tifi stared at the card she received.
She squinted to check the fine decorations and shine on the surface, but she tilted her head, not understanding its purpose.
I placed my hand over the card on her palm and whispered.
”Owner registration.”
Then, the card shone for just a moment and seemed to disappear into Tifi’s palm.
”Huh!? It disappeared!”
Tifi exclaimed in surprise.
”Try thinking about the card key.”
”Huh? The card key?”
As she murmured with doubt, light gathered on her palm again, and the card that had just disappeared reappeared.
