Volume 2 Chapter 8 Famous Actress
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
The next morning, I used the menu’s external information feature to check the surroundings.
The screen showed a scene of a ruined village and a half-destroyed mansion.
In the silent landscape, there were no signs of life at all.
Just to be safe, I opened the door a little and asked Lifia to use Spirit Magic to detect anything.
”There is no one nearby.”
Lifia’s clear voice echoed, and my tension eased a bit.
”What do you think happened to them?”
When I asked, Lifia thought for a moment before answering.
”I think we took down the two in front of us. But the others… probably most of them survived.”
The remaining bandits must have retreated.
With Lifia’s detection range now, it’s unlikely we missed anyone.
And if those 2 who saw us are gone, we don’t need to worry about retaliation.
That’s a relief.
We decided to discuss our next actions as a group of 3.
”The coachman healed himself with a potion, right? So he must have gone back to the capital to report the incident.”
Tifi made that guess.
”Do you think the soldiers from the capital will come to help?”
When I asked, Tifi frowned a little and thought hard.
”It’s hard to say. Since I was the only commoner kidnapped, it’s unlikely they would send a large group to rescue me.”
But then she continued,
”If anyone comes, it would probably be adventurers. The guild leader might put out a request.”
I see, if someone from our guild was taken, it makes sense for them to act.
”For now, let’s head toward the capital. We can think about the rest while we walk.”
”Yes, that sounds good.”
We left the ruined village and the broken mansion behind.
Then we walked through the forest and onto the town road.
As the cold wind blew, Lifia suddenly stopped.
”Master, someone is coming from ahead. It’s a person on a horse.”
A person on a horse?
Could it be a soldier?
I don’t really picture adventurers riding horses.
”At least, it’s not one of those bandits.”
Lifia declares.
Then, there’s no need to hide, right?
We moved forward on the town street, staying cautious.
Soon, we saw a horse.
Riding it was a big, muscular… woman?
”Guild Master!”
Tifi shouted happily and waved her hand.
”Guild Master?”
I looked again in surprise at the person.
That strong, big woman?
The red-haired giant expertly guided her horse closer, then stopped in front of us.
She jumped down and rushed to Tifi.
I never expected the Guild Master herself would come to help us.
Up close, she felt intimidating.
She truly was a “heroic woman.”
”Tifi! Are you okay?”
”Yes! I’m fine!”
”I heard you were taken by bandits…”
”Yes. Mr. Taro and Lif-Lif helped me.”
When Tifi pointed at us, the Guild Master’s sharp gaze turned to me.
”So, you’re Taro…”
She stared at me and murmured.
Did she know me?
”Nice to meet you. I’m Taro, a new adventurer.”
As I greeted her, the Guild Master crossed her arms and slightly relaxed her mouth.
”Ah, I’ve heard from Tifi. You went with her on her trip home. Seems like a rich guy who likes to be an adventurer.”
Saying that, the Guild Master looked me up and down.
My current outfit──a black jacket bought at a Love Hotel──was clearly a high-end item.
Next to me was Lifia, a beautiful maid with blonde hair and blue eyes.
With this combination, it’s no wonder I might be seen as a “rich oddball.”
”Well, there are reasons for that.”
I replied vaguely, and the Guild Master raised an eyebrow at me.
”I see. Well, that’s fine.”
She shrugged lightly and turned her gaze back to Tifi.
There was relief and kindness in her eyes.
”So, how did it go? The coachman said there were ten bandits, and they were on horseback. They’re not just any bandits; they’re not easy to defeat.”
”Well, that’s…”
I explained that I used Lifia’s Spirit Magic to blow up the mansion and took the chance to escape.
Of course, I didn’t mention my skill “Love Hotel.”
”I see. With Spirit Magic, you could probably do something like that.”
The guild master rested his chin on his hand, looking down as if deep in thought.
His eyes had a sharpness, as if he could see through any secrets.
”Anyway, I thank you for helping our Tifi. I don’t know what would have happened without you.”
”It was the least I could do.”
”Heh, is that so?”
The guild master smiled with satisfaction.
”So, Tifi. Do you have any idea about this bandit? Is it related to the second son of the Baron family? It can’t be unrelated. How will we explain this to others?”
”About that, Guild Master…”
Tifi suggested.

After returning to the royal capital, we headed straight to the Adventurers’ Guild.
Tifi wore her old clothes on purpose.
She looked a bit disheveled.
There was also the fact that she hadn’t earned enough points yet, but there was a reason for this.
She didn’t even fix her hair, playing the part of someone who was exhausted.
The guild master walked beside Tifi, supporting her.
Behind them, I walked a little distance away with Lifia.
”Ms. Tifi!”
As we got close to the guild, a sudden voice rang out.
Turning around, a chubby young man hurried towards us.
He was dressed quite flamboyantly, like a little rich pig.
Several soldiers were standing around him.
They were probably his guards.
”Ah, Sir Iberigo…”
Tifi trembled as she looked at him.
”A-are you okay? I heard you were kidnapped… I rushed over!”
