Volume 4 Chapter 86 The Blue Pearl

Thus, the Piyombo Merchant Guild and the Lead Cup Clan were annihilated.

But long before that, I had already moved my pieces into place. As preparation, I orchestrated a meeting with Quatro Shell — the son of Councilor Shell, from the powerful Shell merchant family. The meeting was no coincidence. I made it happen.

To Quatro, however, it must have felt like divine intervention.

”I believe this meeting was fated,” he said, eyes wide with belief. “I’m willing to cooperate.”

I explained everything to him — about how I was being approached by a shady, rough-edged clan. How their reputation was awful, and how I had no intention of aligning myself with those kinds of people. I told him about the kidnapping attempt. My companions had nearly been taken.

Quatro listened in silence. His expression was grave.

”I understand,” he said at last, his voice tight. “I’ve experienced something like that myself… I can’t forgive those who deal in kidnapping.”

His eyes were filled with an emotion I recognized — anger, and disgust.

Thanks to that shared hatred, I secured the cooperation of the Shell family. Through Quatro, we brought the secrets of the Piyombo Guild into the light.

The Shell Merchant Guild, led by Councilor Shell, had once been one of the mightiest. But when Quatro was kidnapped by pirates from the Kingdom of Nakuos, the dedicated clan responsible for the Shell family’s protection was destroyed. They lost their military arm — and with it, their power.

Even so, though the Shells had declined, they remained a force to be reckoned with in the city. Councilor Shell, ever watchful, kept tabs on any factions that might harm the delicate balance of the Free City. They already had their own suspicions about the Piyombo Guild.

The information they gave us wasn’t hard evidence — nothing we could take to the authorities. Just whispers. Hints of shady deals, of the possible handling of contraband.

Their warehouses were guarded like fortresses, inaccessible to outsiders. No direct proof. But suspicion alone was enough for me. It gave me a place to start.

That’s when we began our operation.

I used Lifia’s wind magic to eavesdrop on conversations inside the Piyombo Merchant Guild. Whispers of meetings, preparations… and the word I was hoping to hear most — “drugs.”

Now that I had a target, I sent in Korukona.

Her agility, honed from dungeon diving and trap-dodging, was perfect for infiltration. She could slip through the tightest security without leaving a trace. And if she made her escape into a nearby love hotel, nobody would even raise an eyebrow.

For the mission, I had her wear a ninja outfit — a kunoichi costume with daringly exposed thighs.

Yes. Exposed thighs. They were dangerously enticing.

I may or may not try some “captured female ninja” play with her later.

The truth she uncovered? The Piyombo Guild was storing large quantities of dried, plant-based narcotics. Illegal goods, without question.

Even better — she learned they were preparing a major transaction that very night.

That information was our turning point. And it was all thanks to Quatro’s help.

If it weren’t for him, we wouldn’t have even known where to start.

We shared what we learned with Councilor Shell through Quatro, and simultaneously finalized our assault plan. Since we didn’t have physical proof, the city guards couldn’t take official action. But they could stand ready — prepared to move the moment something concrete appeared.

 So we struck first.

Our bombardment wiped out the Piyombo Merchant Guild in a single night. The city guards stormed in right afterward, securing what was left — evidence, suspects, and any survivors.

That was the outcome of the incident.

We planned everything — the location, the timing, the attack — down to the last detail. And executed it without flaw.

The nature of the bombardment, how it annihilated the guild so swiftly, became a topic of wild speculation on the streets.

”Was it a rival merchant guild’s plot?”

”Maybe an elite strike from the Kingdom of Nakuos?”

”Could it have been a rogue magic guild from the east?”

 Rumors flew in every direction.

And among those rumors… our names came up too.

There was no evidence. No witnesses. Nothing that tied us to the explosion.

But it was already well known that we had a clash with the Lead Cup Clan that same day — a conflict that escalated into an attempted kidnapping.

It happened right before the Piyombo Guild went up in flames.

 People connected the dots.

From that day on, people looked at us differently. Not just as skilled adventurers or pretty girls — but as something more dangerous.

 A force to be feared.

 There was no proof.

And yet, they whispered that we could blow up a warehouse in an instant.

That was enough to keep the other clans and merchant guilds at bay.

And if it meant my wives could live in peace, then I was satisfied.

* * *

The day after the explosion, we visited the Adventurers Guild.

The moment we pushed open the heavy doors, I felt the atmosphere change.

The room, once noisy with chatter and laughter, froze for a second. Then, slowly, everyone turned their eyes toward us.

 ”…Hey, it’s them.”

”Did they really blow up the Lead Cup?”

 ”No way…”

 ”Don’t look at them!”

”Tch. Still walking around with all those girls.”

 ”…Nice ass.”

 Murmurs drifted toward us.

Some looked away, pretending not to see us. Others stared openly. A few glared, while some just ogled Kéa and Yomi’s hips without shame.

The emotions I felt in the air were many: curiosity, envy, fear — and awe.

 Rumors had spread far.

People believed we were the ones who destroyed the Piyombo Merchant Guild.

As we approached the reception, the line of adventurers parted naturally, giving us a path like the Red Sea.

 I hadn’t expected that.

They didn’t have to step aside…

Still, it felt awkward to say, “Oh no, please don’t mind us.” So I just walked through like I owned the place.

The receptionist caught sight of us and immediately stood up, looking nervous.

”C-call the Guild Master,” I said. “We have something to discuss.”

”Y-yes!” she stammered, and rushed to the back without another word.

 It didn’t take long.

Within minutes, the Guild Master appeared, looking visibly worn out.

”Ms. Tifi… you’ve returned,” he said slowly, as if unsure of how to address her.

Tifi had avoided the guild ever since the attack. I had kept her away.

”I apologize for the other day,” the Guild Master said, bowing deeply. “It was my misjudgment.”

Tifi’s eyes wavered slightly. Then she took a step forward.

”I’ve decided to resign from the guild,” she said clearly. “…Though it was a short time, thank you for your support.”

The Guild Master’s shoulders slumped at her words.

”I see… No, if possible, could you stay a little longer? Your help with operations would be—”

”That’s impossible,” I cut him off. “She’s working elsewhere now. In our clan.”

”I… I see,” he murmured, his voice trailing off.

It was a heavy blow to the guild. Tifi was sharp — one of the best staff they had. And with her departure came the loss of several 2-star adventurers. Us.

But I had no intention of backing down.

When we traced back the cause of the attack on Tifi and the others, everything pointed to him.

They were ambushed when they went out to respond to his request.

Through Lifia’s Spirit Magic, we confirmed the Guild Master bore no ill will.

But even if he wasn’t malicious — if someone like the Lead Cup could use him to move pawns — he couldn’t be trusted.

 We left without another word.

Behind us, the Guild Master watched with a powerless expression.

 Around us, whispers resumed.

 ”Is that their clan?”

 ”Think they’d let me join?”

”Not unless you’ve got something special.”

”This is it, huh… the last time we’ll see TifTif’s rack…”

The heat of envy, the sting of admiration, the weight of fear — all bore down on my back.

 I didn’t look back.

 I just kept walking.

* * *

We were heading to a building located right in the heart of town. It stood out from the rest—larger, sturdier, with thick stone walls that looked like they’d weather anything.

Looking up, I saw a crest prominently displayed above the gate: a pearl nestled in an open shell, with crossed swords behind it.

As we approached, the guard by the door straightened up and opened it for us with respectful formality.

Inside, a wide lobby stretched out before us.

It had the feel of an adventurer’s guild—at the back was a heavy-looking reception counter, and the walls were lined with maps and request boards. But unlike the typical rowdy guild, the place radiated luxury. It was spotless. Not a single speck of dust anywhere.

And yet… it was eerily quiet.

There were no adventurers lounging around. No clanking armor. No casual banter.

This place had once been the stronghold of a clan called Blue Pearl—a guild-established facility created by the influential Shellmerchant guild. It had been a place for the chosen ones. A shining headquarters.

But then, tragedy struck. The adventurers of Blue Pearl had faced off against pirates in a desperate attempt to protect a boy named Quatro—who was under their care—and they lost.

Some were killed. Others were poached by rival clans. The rest retired.

The clan was left hollow, with only the admin staff remaining. And without adventurers, a clan is just an empty building.

 But now—we’ve taken it over.

This place, once the pride of Blue Pearl, is now our exclusive base.

Tifi will be working here. She’ll be our liaison—handling intelligence gathering, coordination, and reports.

There’s no need to tiptoe around other adventurers. No rivalries, no politics. This entire facility now serves us. The staff will remain, but from today forward, Tifi is in charge.

It will be our second base, after the Love Hotel.

”It’s so spacious!” Kéa shouted, eyes wide.

”Yay!” Korukona cheered, as she dashed across the floor.

The two of them ran around like kids let loose in a candy store, laughing and gawking at the vaulted ceilings.

”Hey, you two! That’s inappropriate!” Yomi called out, raising her voice in protest.

But her scolding lacked bite. She was smiling too, unable to hide her own excitement.

”So this is my new workplace,” Tifi murmured, mostly to herself.

She looked up, a complex emotion passing over her face.

For her, this wasn’t just a job. After leaving the orphanage, she’d worked hard to rise through the ranks as a guild staff member. And now, she stood here as the head of an entire facility—effectively, a guild master.

”Let’s do our best, Master!” Lifia said brightly, placing a hand over her chest.

Her ocean-blue eyes sparkled with determination as she looked straight at me.

”Yeah… that’s right,” I replied, feeling a strange warmth rise in my chest.

Just then, a voice called out from the back corridor.

 ”Mr. Taro!”

I turned. A boy came running toward us with a bright smile.

Neatly dressed, composed, and polite—it was Quatro.

”Ah, Sir Quatro. I see you’re here,” I greeted him with a small nod.

He beamed in response, clearly happy to see me.

Maybe it was the odd bond we shared after that mysterious encounter with the sailor Brownie. Either way, he seemed to like me quite a bit.

 This boy—Quatro—is no ordinary child.

He’s the heir to the Shellmerchant guild. The son of Councilor Shell, one of the town’s ruling council members.

The reason we ended up inheriting Blue Pearl in the first place? That was their suggestion.

 And honestly… it’s a windfall.

Latipak, this free city of trade and distribution, is the beating heart of commerce. With the backing of the Shellmerchant guild and its councilors, we now have access to something even greater—control over the flow of information and goods across the region.

From monster parts to rare herbs to high-grade ore… resources, intel, influence—they’re all within reach.

A new power is now in our hands.

 I can’t help but smile.

With this, both our adventures and our daily lives will become richer than ever.
