Volume 2 Chapter 11 The Runaway Girl

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

My assigned research student, Henrietta-san¹, had started saying the most outrageous things.

She was proposing that we use even and odd calendar days to decide which days she and Nico could have me all to themselves.

It was true that back at Getys House, Monica had been the one to handle the “nighttime” assignments.

(But wait a minute… don’t I get a vote here? I don’t live for my desires alone—well, okay, maybe not entirely.)

Then, Henrietta-san added a little something extra.

”Oh, right. I enjoy playing with women too, so if you’d like, shall the three of us do it together? We could even bring Pamela in and make it a group of four.”

 (Hmm. As a man, that’s certainly an… intriguing proposition…)

However, I had a feeling Nico didn’t see it that way.

Just as I was about to tell Henrietta-san—who looked like she thought she’d just had the world’s best idea—to hold her horses, Nico suddenly stood up.

”Um… do you happen to know a girl named Teressa Kneff?”

 The name clicked.

I remembered now; my sister-in-law had told me about her—the Gothic Lolita tutor with the massive chest.

The name sounded exactly like what I’d heard, but hadn’t she said that was ten years ago?

”What a nostalgic name,” said Henrietta. “That’s right. I tutored her just after I became a research student. Is she an acquaintance of yours?”

”So it was you,” said Nico. “Small world. And while you were there… you laid hands on her, didn’t you?”

”Well, yes,” Henrietta replied. “But her mother caught us, so I barely got to teach her any Mana Studies². It was only a little bit of ‘extra-curricular’ fun.”

”I… I used to serve as Teressa-sama’s maid.”

 ”My, what a coincidence!”

 I see.

So that was the real reason her mother opposed her learning magic.

If this woman hadn’t laid hands on my sister-in-law, she might never have gone to the Magic School or married my brother.

And, of course, I wouldn’t be standing here right now.

Talk about a twist of fate.

”So,” Nico continued. “I heard something… is it true that if you pour mana into someone’s breasts, they get bigger?”

”Yes, well. I told her to keep that a secret. Oh, fine. How old are you?”

 Nico was an A-cup—maybe pushing a B.

You could tell just by looking.

 ”I’m fifteen,” said Nico.

”You’re just barely at the age limit,” mused Henrietta. “Do you want me to make them larger for you?”

 ”If it’s possible… please.”

”Very well. Then I suppose the three of us doing it together is back on the table?”

 ”I don’t mind,” whispered Nico.

(Wait, is this actually a good development? I mean, I don’t mind, but…)

”But why are you so obsessed with your chest?” asked Henrietta.

”Because… this man likes big breasts,” Nico said.

She glanced at me with eyes that looked ready to overflow with tears.

”I have no other charms. If I stay small like this, eventually…”

(Listen, I definitely like a big pair of tits, but I’m not going to just throw you away because you’re small.)

”It’s true,” Henrietta teased. “Larry-kun has been doing nothing but staring at my chest for a while now. He clearly likes them big.”

 (Wait, was I that obvious?)

”See?” Nico cried. “He’s always looking at the big ones! I can understand Teressa-sama because she has a great figure, but even Herta, the head maid—she’s practically obese, but because her breasts are huge, he stares! It’s like anything goes as long as they’re big!”

I’d been trying so hard to keep my eyes under control, but she’d seen right through me.

Then, Nico said something that genuinely startled me.

”Even Marie… the girl from earlier. I think if her breasts had been bigger, he wouldn’t have abandoned her.”

”Oh, you mean that pregnant student?” said Henrietta. “Heh. So you’re the type to dump a girl just because of her cup size?”

(Wait, everyone thinks I ‘abandoned’ Marie? And because she’s small-chested? I’m not that much of a scumbag!)

”Look, I did technically run away from her village,” I stammered. “But there were very specific circumstances!”

Henrietta just gave me a dismissive snort.

”Most likely, that girl is appealing to the Principal right now for permission to be Larry’s ‘attendant.’ I doubt she ever wants to be cast aside again.”

”I think so too,” said Nico. “And I don’t want to lose to a girl the same age as me.”

”Heh. Aside from the face, you’re so much like that Marie-san that I can’t think of you as a stranger. Is this a case of ‘like hates like’?”

 She had a point.

They really were similar; from behind, they were practically identical.

For the record—not that I’m bragging—back in my previous life, I’d been dumped plenty of times before a relationship even started, but I had never once abandoned a woman.

It was actually kind of depressing to think about.

”Alright, then,” Henrietta declared. “Let’s do this: on every day ending in a five, the three of us—well, let’s make it four with Pamela—will get together. Leave the ‘enhancement’ procedure to me.”

”Thank you so much,” said Nico.

I couldn’t quite wrap my head around Nico’s happy smile.

”Um, can I ask one thing?” I interjected.

”What is it, you heartless boy?”

Henrietta’s smile was bright, but as an old man with a ‘glass heart’ on the inside, her words actually stung a bit.

”You’re a ‘Simple-type’³, right? Can you really perform Medical Magic that requires ‘Complex-type’ mana?”

”You’re well-informed for someone who hasn’t started classes yet. Listen: standard Medical Magic works by joining tissues together or sending in Complex-type mana to jump-start specific areas.”

That matched what I’d seen at the field hospital in Linto.

”However, acting on nerves and blood vessels requires ‘Dimer’ Mana. In other words… Simple-type.”

 It clicked.

I’d wondered if Yutia could be helped by something like that.

Also, the sensation of the mana when I had a finger shoved up my backside—that must have been Dimer mana too.

”You’ve had some experience with it, haven’t you?”

 I nodded twice, reflexively.

”Then you get the idea. We stimulate the breasts to encourage growth.”

(Wait… isn’t that just an urban legend?)

A dark memory of a drunken office party flashed through my mind.

Someone had made a sexual harassment comment about how “rubbing them makes them grow,” and I’d been treated like a pariah for five years just for being in the room.

”You don’t believe me? Teressa’s chest was about the size of this girl’s when we started. And even mine…”

With a soft rustle of fabric, Henrietta-san reached down and physically lifted her massive breasts, giving them a firm shake.

Nico just stood there with a dazed, blissful smile, looking like a cult recruit who had just seen a miracle.

(Is she going to be okay?)

”Well then, tomorrow is the 23rd—an odd day—but I have errands to run. Let’s all gather on the 25th, after the freshman orientation party.”

* * *

With the plan settled, we headed back to the room.

I hurried Nico along so we could get to her house.

”Ugh, can’t we just go tomorrow?” she complained.

”No. People from Teressa’s estate were looking for you. This isn’t just about your family anymore.”

 I gave Nico a push.

I threw on the robe I’d bought today, we headed to the administration building to sign out, and by the time we stepped through the formal entrance into the garden, the carriage for the town had just pulled away.

”That was the last shuttle to the station down below,” Nico said.

 Her voice sounded suspiciously relieved.

”Since we missed it, let’s just go tomorrow.”

So that’s why she’d been dragging her feet.

She was trying to miss the carriage.

 ”Fine. We’ll walk.”

”You’re joking! It’s way too far!”

Based on what Nico had told me, her house was near the guard station we’d passed on the way in.

By my estimate, it was about two or three kilometers.

Even walking, it would only take thirty or forty minutes. An hour at most.

I grabbed Nico’s hand and started walking.

She resisted at first, but after ten meters, she gave up and followed.

 Still, this was another world.

I started wondering about the safety of the area; I might have been a bit overzealous.

The street was lined with wealthy-looking homes and palatial estates, but the road itself was deserted.

(It’ll probably be fine,) I thought.

Just then, a mounted guard leading a second, riderless horse caught up to us from behind.

”Well, if it isn’t Larry! What happened to that filthy overcoat of yours?”

The man who called out as he pulled up beside us was the older guard who had escorted us to the station the day we arrived in town.

”Thanks for the help the other day,” I said.

”You’re wearing the school robe, so I almost didn’t recognize you.”

That overcoat really must have left an impression.

”Oho, and a maid outfit too? Are you out on a date with your attendant? You haven’t even been here two days and you’re already moving that fast? As expected of the Viscount’s ‘Holy Sword’ bearer. You’re quite the worker. Heading down to the lower town?”

I couldn’t tell if he was praising me or making fun of me.

”Just to this girl’s house. It’s near the guard station.”

”I see. If it were just you, I’d give you a lift, but you’ve got a lady with you.”

”What’s the deal with the extra horse?” I asked.

”This is the Commander’s horse. I’m taking him to get his shoes replaced. If he had a saddle, I’d let you both hop on.”

Being the Commander’s horse, he had a beautiful, glossy coat.

I suppose if you’re constantly walking on these cobblestones, you’d need to replace the shoes pretty often.

”Is it okay if we ride him bareback?”

”If you don’t mind the lack of a saddle. It’s not a long trip to the station anyway.”

 ”Thanks.”

I remembered the first time I’d taken control of this body and ridden my family’s horse, Carpaccio.

Back then, I’d just had a fight with my brother Hans, and my hands were shaking so hard I couldn’t even hold the reins.

I took the reins from the guard and gave the horse a quick pat on the nose.

With a sharp “Hah!” I hopped up.

Just like before, Nico hooked her right foot over my left instep, grabbed the mane, and sat sideways in front of me.

”Heh. Not bad,” said the guard. “You used to keep horses?”

 ”Yeah. A mare named Carpaccio.”

”A weird overcoat and a horse named Carpaccio? Your family sounds like a riot.”

The guard laughed as we started moving.

Nico shifted her weight, leaning back against me.

Back when I was “Virgin Larry,” my heart would have been pounding out of my chest, but now… well, it was still nice having her lean into me like that.

”I see how it is. You two are that close, huh? I’m jealous,” said the guard.

Hearing that made me a little bashful.

”You’re really helping us out here,” I replied.

”Don’t worry about it. It’s not far, but it’s a pain to walk.”

He seemed like a good guy.

”Is the area around here safe?” I asked.

”Generally, yeah. At least compared to the lower town. But it’s still dangerous at night, so don’t go wandering alone. Also, once the break ends and the students come back, the trouble starts. Larry, don’t you go hanging around with the kids from the General School over there.”

The General School was barely a hundred meters away from the Magic School—practically right next door.

While the Magic School buildings were relatively plain, the General School was all Gothic architecture—tall, imposing buildings designed to scream “authority.”

The Principal had already warned me not to cause trouble with them.

”It would be one thing if it were just the kids of local retainers,” the guard continued.

”But there are noble brats from other territories there too. It’s an all-boys school, and they’re all spoiled rotten. They’ve got street smarts, and they know exactly how to use their parents’ influence to get away with murder. You can’t even touch them. Some of those idiots do things you wouldn’t believe a student is capable of—kidnapping girls for their amusement, or even selling them off to other territories.”

 ”Are you serious?”

”I’m serious, dead serious,” the guard said.

”Just the other day, the daughter of the paper merchant went missing. It might just be a runaway case, but no matter how much we search, we can’t find a trace of her. We had a witness statement saying she was seen walking this way, so we’re suspecting it might be the work of the Students around here.”

 Hearing that, Nico went rigid.

”Um, what was that girl’s name?” Nico asked.

”Oh, it’s the Vogt shop, so the surname is probably Vogt. The name was… Nico, I’m pretty sure. Yeah, Nico Vogt,” the guard replied.

Nico gripped my robe with a white-knuckled intensity.

(This is bad. This is really, really bad… This has turned into something massive.)

I had been running slightly behind the guard, but I picked up the pace to pull level with him.

”Um, Officer… this girl. She is that Nico Vogt,” I said.

The guard’s eyes went as wide as saucers as he stared at Nico. Finding herself the center of attention, Nico pressed her face against my shoulder to hide.

”Is that for real?” the guard asked.

 ”Yeah,” I said.

”Then… Larry, did you kidnap her?” the guard asked.

”I literally just got here yesterday!” I replied.

 ”Well, that’s true, but… man, this is…”

Looking at the guard’s conflicted face, I explained how Nico had come to the Fee family as a maid for Teressa of the Kneff family.

”We even went to the Magic School to search for her,” the guard muttered.

”Well, that dorm mother is a total space cadet,” I said.

”Kunila, or Vanila… whatever her name was, she definitely seemed unreliable. Even if she does have the look of a woman who knows what she’s doing,” the guard said.

So that was the cause. But didn’t the Principal interview her?

”Um, is there a chance anyone will be punished for this?” I asked.

”Hmm, I doubt it. We heard it might be a runaway case, and since there were sightings near the school, we were just itching to pin it on those punks. I can’t deny we got a bit ahead of ourselves trying to get one over on them. I don’t think anyone will be blamed, but that girl is probably going to have hell to pay when her parents get ahold of her,” the guard said.

 That was a certainty.

We dismounted at the guardhouse. Since the old guard knew the situation, he decided to come along with us. Nico’s house sat right on the banks of the Danube. Similar to the rock salt merchant who was Monica’s brother-in-law, the shop and the residence shared a massive, sprawling estate.

Come to think of it, this was right near where I had been hauled off by the guards yesterday. The main entrance to the house was locked, so we had no choice but to head around to the shop side.

”Listen, I only have ten sheets of parchment left! How can one sheet be five silver coins? I’ve been buying here for years!” a customer shouted.

”I am truly sorry, but with the annexation of Bohemia and the Straba territories, contract-grade parchment is in short supply. The wholesale costs have skyrocketed. These ten sheets were barely set aside for our most loyal regulars as it is,” the clerk replied.

”Good grief! Three months ago it was three silver coins, and now it’s five? And you only have ten sheets? Are you telling me to just quit being a Spell-Scribe?!” the woman barked.

”I am terribly sorry,” the clerk said.

The clerk was bowing and scraping before a woman wearing a robe similar to mine. Is the shortage really that bad? I suppose the law does mandate parchment for all official deeds and contracts. Parchment lasts for centuries compared to wood-pulp paper, and it takes Magic Ink¹⁰ perfectly.

As the clerk straightened up from his bow, his eyes drifted toward us.

 ”L-Little Mistress?!” the clerk stammered.

He froze, looking like he’d just seen a ghost. Nico shrunk back, hiding in my shadow.

”The Master!” the clerk muttered, backing away. “The Master!”

He suddenly let out a deafening shout and bolted into the back of the shop.

”Oh, for heaven’s sake! Just leaving a customer standing here?” the complaining woman said, looking exasperated.

An older clerk stepped in to handle her. After a brief negotiation—it looked like he knocked the price down just to get her out the door—he handed over the remaining parchment. Once she was gone, he approached us.

”Little Mistress, everyone has been so worried. Seeing you safe is a blessing,” the older clerk said.

He greeted Nico with a calm voice and then gestured for me and the guard to follow him into the back.

Just then, the thundering sound of heavy footsteps approached. A massive man with a face flushed bright red and a mane of white hair came charging toward us. He looked to be about the same age as my late grandfather.

”Is this the brat? The one who seduced my Nico?!” the man roared.

 What?

The next thing I knew, I was lying on a bed in a dim room with only a single skylight. I tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through my neck.

”You’re awake,” a voice said. “A doctor from the Medical Magic¹¹ guild was here earlier to treat you. He said you need to stay still for at least another hour.”

Apparently, I’d been clocked in the head with everything the old man had. I wasn’t sure what kind of spell they’d used on me, but I took the advice and laid back down, trying to catch my breath.

”I am Lubelmann, an assistant here at the shop. I’ll go inform the others that Larry-sama has regained consciousness. Please, stay as you are,” the man said.

The man spoke with a refined, polite tone before stepping out.

(Damn… Big Brother Hans has pounded on me plenty of times without me blacking out, but that old man put me down in one shot. He’s the real deal.)

I closed my eyes and let out a long, heavy sigh.

 (Haaaaah… what now?)

”Seduced,” he’d said. Then he’d punched me. In that old man’s eyes, me sleeping with Nico definitely counted as “seducing” her. But how was I supposed to fix this?

I couldn’t see a terrifying patriarch like him accepting Nico’s idea of being a “convenient woman” or a “Besanburg wife.” But taking her back to my village as my actual wife would cause its own set of massive problems. And then there was Marie. An absolute wildcard.

(Someone… please just tell me what to do.)

The door creaked open. A massive shadow blocked out the light from the hallway.

”Larry Fee Getys. I am Helmut Vogt. I run this shop, and I am Nico’s grandfather,” the man said.

The man who punched me. Why was he here now?

”I have questions. Listen well: if you give me some flighty, half-hearted answer or try to lie your way out of this, I will kill you where you lie. I don’t care if you’ve had a royal audience or if you carry a blessed sword. I don’t have much time left in this world anyway, so don’t think I won’t do it. Prepare yourself,” Helmut said.

The pressure coming off him was suffocating. He didn’t look like a man with “not much time left”; his sheer presence made it hard to breathe.

Shring.

The cold, sharp chime of a blade being drawn from its scabbard echoed through the room.

”If you’re thinking of using magic to tuck tail and run, don’t. I’ll have you in two pieces before you can finish a chant,” Helmut said.

Notes:

• Henrietta – Graduate student and academy researcher specializing in golems, she sports a striking all-black Gothic Lolita outfit with a high collar, patterned gloves, messy hair, and a generous bust; acts as Larry’s supervisor and mentor with a nonchalant attitude toward sexual ethics and social taboos, deeply loves him, once used a confession agent on him, and possesses a slave named Pamela.

• Nico – Silver‑haired, sharp‑eyed former head maid now at school laundry reception, haunted elegance who protects Larry (spent a night in his bed), clashes with Marie, aids neighbors, scolds him bluntly, plays violin, raised his children, is a Village Head Fee member and coming‑of‑age graduate. Petite 15‑year‑old maid‑outfit wearer, insecure about abandonment, seeks magical breast enhancement, granddaughter of a dangerous elder and Helmut, rescued from kidnapping, entangled romantically with Larry.

• Monica – Sun-tanned, slender, tomboyish fifteen-year-old widow and childhood friend of Larry, missing a front tooth, she lost her husband Denis at Vod Fortress and now raises her twin children while wet-nursing her infant niece Maria; observant, assertive in negotiations, and the household’s weary voice of reason, she manages domestic life with bitter authority, haunted by survival fears and Larry’s neglect—so much so she gave up her son—and offers the narrator early-filtered apple cider as a quiet, poignant farewell at the station.

• Getys – The Getys family, once a thriving Strock Village line now carried by Larry, bears its name through him and his aunts Alisa and Monica. Hardy and his late brother Denis, rugged and weather‑worn from a combat‑trade legacy, saw their clan thinned by disease and war; after their deaths the household teeters, with Larry at its uncertain center, tied to Viscount Bizan’s territory.

• Ho – Ho, a comrade of the protagonist. A member of the military unit that defended Garao Village and was slaughtered alongside Marx-san.

• Pamela – A young elf, appearing as a child but far older, wears white Gothic‑Lolita attire and a large‑brimmed hair ornament that conceals her pointed ears and half her face. She is Henrietta’s slave and companion, possessing telepathy and mind‑reading abilities.

• Teressa – Blonde, short-haired village head with a golden-lashed, piercing blue gaze and a notably large bust, wearing a wool jacket over a split-button blouse—once tutored by Henrietta and formerly served by Nico as maid. Widow of former head Iffens, mother of Lyrica and Maria, pregnant with Larry’s child, sister-in-law to Monica, and close to Hans; lived with the family over four years. A Gothic Lolita in appearance, she’s steady yet vulnerable, motherly-alluring with a sharp-mischievous edge, and shares Mana with Larry—also a young Fee-family dream-visitor who later manifests in reality.

• Kneff – The Kneff family name, associated with Teressa. The lineage is connected to the noble circles where Henrietta provided tutoring services.

• Larry – Fourteen-year-old third son of Strock Village Head, reddish-white skin, curly bronze hair, bronze eyes, now a Level 3 Mana user and Special Recommendation student at Bizan Magic School, reincarnated as an adult with a lingering Sage’s consciousness—hosting a fractured “glass heart” and moral turmoil. Wields fire magic, mana sensing, and a unique Mana Drain technique to protect loved ones; carries the Viscount’s Holy Sword. Married to Nico (she/her), whom he fiercely claims despite trauma from her grandfather, while entangled in polygamous ties with Monica, Teressa, and others. Once a slave-soldier in Militia Unit 303, now suspected as the Fifth Sage, he navigates school politics, returning bullies, former lovers, and the world’s decay—all while struggling to reconcile his past life’s wisdom with his fragile present identity.

• Herta – Head maid of the Village Head’s main house, a slightly plump, voluptuous woman with a large chest, respected by staff and close to the family. She mediates domestic disputes, offers tea or ale to calm tensions, secretly loves Egil, and treats Larry as kin while serving meals and providing emotional support.

• Marie – Fifteen-year-old Novakova, granddaughter of the village chief, is a high-spirited student with a regional accent and a build nearly identical to Nico’s—modest-chested, territorial, and boldly flirtatious. Wearing a school uniform, she teases Larry relentlessly about his relationships, feigning harsh interrogation to mask their secret affair, even claiming to carry his child—all while rigidly upholding village rules. Her cynical, suspicious demeanor mirrors Iva’s, yet beneath the snark lies deep affection; she secretly protects Nico, showing unexpected concern despite her competitive exterior, using humor and defiance to shield their hidden bond.

• Mar – A battle‑hardened veteran, clad in worn armor, uses door panels as shields and captures enemy crossbows; Larry’s comrade who teases him about his sister‑in‑law’s pampering, known as Martin to his companion Edmond.

• Al – Alberto (Al), a massive red‑haired man recently wed to Mary, lives near the Dish Basin. He’s a companion of Hans, helping intimidate and rally elders as a villager and leader.

• Yutia – A hunched, muscularly distorted maid with fever‑scarred skin hidden under tangled hair serves the Getys household, tending livestock—especially Carpaccio—with quiet loyalty. Isolated by Larry’s rise and intimidated by Hans, she bonds deeply with the horses, gave Larry a braided hair charm, eats at the manor but stays emotionally distant. A young Getys woman, afflicted by abnormal muscle tension, recently shared her first intimate moment with Larry.

• Commander – A man leading the mercenary press-gang at the south gate.

• Hans – Hans‑niisan, 17, nearly 2 m tall and over 100 kg, rugged heir of the Kessler estate and elder brother of Larry, now Village Head of the Fee family. Rough‑coarse yet charismatic, he enforces the headship’s will, refuses the role himself, and holds his own wedding while his aggressive brother declines it. Known for physical strength and for sharing Willow District intel.

• Vogt – The Vogt family name, carried by Helmut and Nico. The family has business dealings with the Magic School regarding parchment supplies. The Vogt family name, carried by Nico and Helmut. The family operates a prominent paper and parchment shop located along the Danube River.

• Fee – Larry Fee Getys, middle name unknown, leads the Fee family — Larry, Hans, and Iffens — who govern Strock Village. Married into the Getys household, he presents a distinguished, cohesive presence. The family recently hired Nico as a maid for Teressa.

• Kunila – She is the dorm mother of the magic school, a dignified‑looking woman in modest robes who manages student housing and welcomes newcomers. Though professional in bearing, she’s known as a ditzy, natural‑minded widow who, after years of solitude, shows a suggestive interest in Larry.

• Helmut – A large man with a flushed red face and a mane of white hair. He is the owner of the Vogt shop and the grandfather of Nico. He possesses an intimidating presence and is capable of incapacitating an opponent with a single blow. A large old man with a fierce temperament and the grandfather of Nico. He brandishes a magnificent two-handed sword used by the Royal Army and demonstrates lethal intent to protect his granddaughter’s future.
