Volume 2 Chapter 47 Kenze (Meaning Happiness)

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 Why? I bought an Amazoness.

The reason is clear. Because I was an amateur.

I couldn’t win the bid for Rhein. Because of that, I wanted to leave the venue quickly.

And yet, there were so many people that I couldn’t get out. I had no choice but to wait for the auction of this Amazoness to end.

The predicted winning bid was over twenty million, according to the slavery merchant.

It was a head-to-head battle between an agent for a noble named Oscar and a young man (who the slavery merchant said was affiliated with a school), but the price hike slowed down from nine million.

 Slow!

What are you doing? Raise it quickly! My frustration over failing led me to overstep.

 ”Eleven million,” I said.

I presented the price to pour oil on the fire of what looked like a stalemate. I thought that by presenting a high price, the matter would be settled quickly; I never even considered winning the bid.

In this country, where mercenaries are banned, an Amazoness who makes a living as a mercenary is rare—or rather, you almost never see one. Such a precious species was being put up for sale. It should have been a “gem” that would make enthusiasts drool.

No matter how you think about it, it shouldn’t be cheaper than Rhein, who is1 “past her prime” to be called a run-of-the-mill dwarf girl. Moreover, Rhein is a damaged good; she was bitten by a Red-eyed Wolf and doesn’t even have a decent face.

There is no way it would go for the eleven million I offered. I had the conviction of an amateur. And yet, I have a paper in my hand with “11,000,000” scrawled on it.

Run? They’ve seen my bankbook, so they know I’m a student at the academy and that I’ve become an adopted son-in-law in Strock Village. If I run, I’ll probably end up floating in the Danube River. Hahaha.

Still, that big man in the robe. What kind of obsession did he have to bid that high for Rhein, who had a crushed face?

”Even at the highest, five million. I’ve prepared double that, so it will be fine.”

Rhein’s mother, who relied on connections to have a slavery merchant bid on her daughter and asked to keep her for half a year—she must have heard various stories. Since her opinion was based on that, it’s not a matter for an amateur like me with no information to chime in on. Realistically, I suppose it’s not like she could prepare money indefinitely.

But the reality was different. There was a bid that exceeded the upper limit, double the amount I had anticipated.

 I panicked.

At that time, I looked back at Second Lieutenant Sabrina in the audience, but I couldn’t understand what her gestures were trying to say. Private conversations are strictly prohibited while an auction is taking place.

Even though there were anti-social looking men all over the place, that custom was being observed.

If I had stayed connected via magic thread, could I have used telepathy? Now is not the time to be thinking about such things.

At first, her gestures seemed to be telling me to drive the price up. But since the opponent offered twelve million, when I looked back, she seemed to want to say something else.

While I was failing to grasp that intent, the auction ended.

Although it was my first time, this was an auction where I couldn’t conceive of losing. I was filled with feelings of regret for Second Lieutenant Sabrina, who was shedding tears.

Her mother was the one who set the upper limit. I didn’t need to feel the burden of it, though.

Second Lieutenant Sabrina might have eyes swollen with tears because she couldn’t win the bid.

Several people with slips of paper were lined up in front of the administrative desk at the back of the venue, and the explanation of precautions for each of them was unexpectedly long and time-consuming. When it was finally my turn and I finished talking and signing, an Amazoness wearing a loincloth and a collar with a chain was brought to me. Because of the tendons I cut previously, and not just the drugs, she wasn’t walking properly. Still, she was completely bald, and the Slave Crest on her forehead was clearly visible.

 ”Congratulations,” said the merchant.

The man who was the underbidder handed the end of that chain to me. There’s nothing “congratulatory” about it.

Dragging the Amazoness who couldn’t even stand properly, I left the building, and Second Lieutenant Sabrina was waiting.

”Um, I’m sorry,” I said, apologizing for not being able to win the bid for Rhein.

”No, that…” Sabrina replied. Her gaze turned toward the Amazoness once.

”Um, who was that big man in the robe?” she asked.

”That person was Professor Hoffman. I realized it halfway through…” I muttered.

Professor Hoffman? I’ve heard that name somewhere.

”He is a professor of the exploration department that Rhein was studying under,” Sabrina explained.

”Ah, the one who kicked Rhein out of the laboratory,” I noted.

Crap, I said a bit too much. Second Lieutenant Sabrina is making a slightly displeased face.

It’s a rumor I heard from Henrietta-san, but that professor and Rhein were in a relationship.

”He said he came to take responsibility,” Sabrina added.

”That means…” I held my tongue.

Could it be that because of the entanglement of their affair, the wild Rhein was kicked out of the laboratory or jumped out herself? And then, because of the personnel matters and whatnot in the Magic School’s laboratory afterwards, I had all my exams for the first semester marked as failing? Thanks to this stupid mother-daughter pair, I’ve suffered collateral damage.

 What the hell.

I mean, if it’s “came to buy her back to help a former lover who fell into slavery,” it might be a heartwarming story depending on how you hear it, but it makes me pissed off. What do you mean you came to take responsibility! Think about the trouble you’re causing others!

To top it all off, I ended up having to buy an Amazoness.

Setting aside Second Lieutenant Sabrina, the former Principal and Rhein are nothing but a plague to me. But for now, let’s go home.

The Amazoness I bought walks while favoring her leg, so it takes time. I had Second Lieutenant Sabrina go on ahead. By some twist of fate, as I was assisting the Amazoness who had previously come to kill me on the way to the horse tie-up area, I was called out to by a woman I didn’t know.

”Could we have a word?” the woman asked.

Her manner is soft, but her gaze is cold. A few women who exude a similar atmosphere are standing a little distance away.

The Amazoness became restless when she heard her voice. Even though her consciousness should be quite dulled by the drugs.

”Are you, by any chance, an acquaintance of hers?” I inquired.

I looked alternately between the Amazoness I had just bought and the woman who called out to me, but the woman stayed silent and guided us into the shade of the building with a gesture so as not to be seen.

”Could you tell me this person’s name? It doesn’t have to be her real name; an alias within the organization is fine,” she whispered.

The woman’s face stiffened for a moment, but it immediately turned into a smile.

”My name is Kenze Hasina. Kenze means happiness,” she said.

”That’s a nice name. Is that Turku?” I asked.

”You seem to know quite a lot, even though you’re young,” she replied.

”Well, I was nearly killed by her,” I noted.

As I grabbed Kenze’s arm with my right hand to support her so she wouldn’t fall and pointed with my left hand, the woman narrowed her eyes further.

This woman. She must be from the Turkic Empire’s intelligence agency. I regret sending Second Lieutenant Sabrina back first. Moving into the shade of the building might have been a mistake, too.

If it comes to it, should I leave Kenze and run? No, this is Capital Offense Slavery. If I abandon her, I will be the one sold into slavery.

”It’s alright,” the woman said. “If we cause a scene here, it won’t mean we’ll be unscathed either.”

”If it wasn’t here?” I asked.

”That depends on you,” she countered.

That’s a nasty way of putting it. She’s completely threatening me.

”I’m joking. We didn’t come to pick a fight either,” she added.

It seems the other side backed down. But her eyes don’t feel that way.

”Do you have a fabric shop here too?” I asked.

At my words, the woman raised the right corner of her mouth slightly. In Besanburg, the territorial capital of Viscount Bizan, they used a cotton fabric shop as a cover for their intelligence agency. But by resorting to hardline tactics to attack me, the delicate balance between our country and the Turkic Empire’s intelligence agency was broken, and that fabric shop was burned down by Helbert Lieutenant Colonel’s unit.

”So, what is your business?” I pressed.

”I wanted to ask what you are going to do with Kenze from now on,” she replied.

”I bought her on a whim, so what I do is up to me from here on out,” I insisted.

Thinking I had lied, the woman went silent.

Because I can’t help it; it really was something like a whim. Besides, I have to keep her for half a year, so I’m the one who is confused.

”A ‘whim,’ you say? How much did you buy her for?” she asked.

 ”Eleven million,” I replied.

”Ho ho ho, you certainly splurged,” she chuckled.

The woman put her hand to her mouth and laughed. Her eyes, of course, were not smiling.

”What do you mean? The slavery merchant said it wouldn’t go for less than twenty million,” I protested.

”Well, appearances are like that,” she explained. “Since Amazonesses don’t bear children, that place is narrow too. To a man, it’s a ‘famous vessel.’ However, they are a warrior race. In most cases, they can kill an opponent with their bare hands even if they are a soldier. There’s no fool who would lay a hand on one of them out of mere lust. Those who purchase them are either nobles with extreme fetishes, or research labs that perform vivisections on rare species.”

 Ah!

So that’s why it was just those two, an agent named Oscar and a young man, participating in the auction.

”Then, what about that large audience? Even the slavery merchant said…” I trailed off.

My true feelings slipped out unexpectedly.

”Well, we can’t get inside,” she stated.

I was brushed off. Or rather, I gave myself away. It seems I exposed that I regret buying her, and the tables were turned. I have to do something.

”So, did you come to kill her?” I asked.

”No way. It’s too late for that even if we did,” she said.

Well, she must have had her mind read to a deep level by Major Sonya and the others. I guess it means the information has already leaked even if she is killed now.

 ”Then why?” I asked.

”If something were to happen that would kill that child, I would like to take custody of the body,” she replied.

Come to think of it, when I looked at Major Sonya’s memories, Amazonesses would pay a ransom to retrieve even a corpse. That had happened.

”But, it seems you don’t have the fetish of abusing and killing women,” she noted.

”I might use her for vivisection,” I countered.

”Would a person who says that ask for her name?” she observed.

I don’t think I’d make it as an intelligence operative. I’m too careless.

”However, it is not impossible that Kenze herself chooses death. In that case, please call us. We run a fabric shop on the embankment of the Danube River in the southwest sector,” she informed me.

”That is if you guys still have a shop by then,” I muttered.

”I am Kauhar Afshar, please remember the name,” she said.

 ”I am…”

”Larry Fee Getys-san, right? We are aware of you,” she interrupted.

You know me! I’m not happy about my name being known by the Turkic Empire’s intelligence agency.

”Also, if you end up raising Kenze’s children, please hand them over to us before they turn ten. If possible, before seven,” she requested.

 ”Why?” I asked.

”By that time, Kenze herself will speak,” she said enigmatically.

She really underestimates me. They call me a sadist, you know.

”I might resell her in half a year, you know,” I finished.

”I can’t go quite as far as double your asking price, but I will purchase it for the best value I possibly can,” the merchant replied.2

So, if I endure for six months, these people will take her off my hands? I don’t feel like I could ever get along with this Kenze person. After all, she is a woman who came to kill me.

 ”One more request.”

”There is still more?” I asked.

”In the previous Vod Fortress battle, there is one Amazoness whose body has not yet been recovered. Please inform us if she is alive. Kenze will know immediately if she sees her.”

No, no, if there were a dangerous Amazoness out there, it would be the talk of the town everywhere, and this Kenze would hardly ever go outside. Not for half a year, anyway.

The woman who called herself Kauhar and her group said what they wanted to say and left immediately.

I thought it might turn into a killing spree if things went badly, but given that, I don’t think there’s much chance of being assassinated by them even if I walk through the city normally. Well, since it’s also thanks to Helbert Lieutenant Colonel, I will continue to get along with the military personnel.

I took the arm of Kenze, who had squatted down while we were talking, helped her stand up, and headed to the stables.

”Hmph, despite not being able to do the work you were tasked with, you still manage to win a bid for a freak like an Amazoness,” the woman sneered. “You’re quite the audacious one, aren’t you?”

 You damn old hag!!

If Second Lieutenant Sabrina hadn’t been there, I definitely would have punched her. But the real criticism for me didn’t start until I returned to the academy.

 ”Who is that Slavery?”

The Dorm Head, who had probably expected me to bring back Rhein, looked down her nose at me. “My, what a terribly uncouth acquisition.”

”Uh, well, it was a bit of an unexpected purchase,” I stammered.

I couldn’t possibly tell the truth, and when I tried to bluff, she clearly looked disgusted.

”And, that is also a Capital Offense person, isn’t it?”

 ”Yes, well.”

”My, what a thing to say. I didn’t know you had such kinks; how nasty.”

 Yes, yes.

On top of that, she told me not to let her out of the room! To properly take care of her bathroom needs! And she even said if I couldn’t do that, I should leave the dormitory.

And this is a full-boarding school.

When I went to the room, a cage had been prepared, but there was no bed inside, just an old blanket and a chamber pot for excrement.

Kenze began to sleep immediately, perhaps due to the medicine. Or so I thought.

When I tried to leave the cage, I heard a sound behind me. If I hadn’t braced myself, my head might have been grabbed and my neck snapped. I didn’t expect her to become a Slavery, but cutting her Achilles Tendon back then was the right decision.

The tunic Kenze is wearing is only tied with strings on the sides where the fabric doesn’t reach. I grabbed her thin flank and drained the Mana from there, stealing her consciousness.

 ”Kill me.”

Her words while losing consciousness. Since she can only speak in broken fragments, I don’t know if it was “kill me” or “I will kill you,” but she is a violent woman as always.

It’s a waste, considering she has such magnificent side-boob. I covered the collapsed Kenze with a blanket, locked the cage, and left.

In the laboratory, there were three people: Henrietta-san, Marie, and Romy. There, I told them the truth about buying the Amazoness. I told them I ended up participating in the auction and winning the bid just because I wanted to leave the venue quickly. I honestly confessed that the Amazoness had targeted my life in the past and had just attacked me earlier.

”Yer bottom has clean fell out o’ yer wits, lad,” Romy muttered, shaking her head.

”I thought you were a fool, but you really are a true fool, aren’t you,” Marie added coldly.

Romy, I don’t want to be called a fool by you, but maybe I can’t complain after spending 11 million.

”To have no discretion when it comes to women, the child in your stomach must be poor, though,” Romy continued.

”To lay hands on an Amazoness, this really is the limit of perversion, isn’t it,” Marie said.

After being thoroughly berated by the two of them, they stopped speaking to me.

Henrietta-san showed no interest in the Amazoness matter; she reported on the Motor and then left the lab with the other two, saying that was all for today.

 This is bad.

Back when I was in middle management in a department made only of women, if women hated you, it would take a very long time to recover, regardless of whether it was a misunderstanding or not. Once they identify you as an enemy, they have no mercy; there is even a risk of the department collapsing. For now, I have to write today’s journal, but I have a headache.

In times like this, it’s best to immerse myself in work.

I whittled out the core of the scrap Amber that had arrived, and while checking the epidermis with a Mana flow meter, I thinned it down with a file. I finished making four diode-like things that only allow Mana to flow in one direction, and when I checked the time, it was almost nine o’clock. The Dining Hall would be closing. I hurried down the stairs, jumped into the Dining Hall, and asked for something to eat on the spot and a basket for Kenze.

”What’s wrong, staying late?” the lady at the Dining Hall asked.

She gave me the basket and offered words of comfort, but it was a bit awkward. I took the basket and returned to my room.

Perhaps she might have gotten out of the cage and be waiting for me. The opponent is a former intelligence agent.

I unlocked the door and slowly turned the knob. I peeked through the gap, but there didn’t seem to be any trouble.

I slipped in, locked it immediately, and turned on the Magic Lamps, and Kenze was in the cage. Sitting cross-legged.

She hadn’t torn the blanket to hang herself.

”Why, don’t you kill me?” she asked.

On the forehead of the shaven-headed woman, a Slave Crest was carved in red, blue, and black. I brought the mirror that was in the room and showed it to her.

”Do you perhaps not know that you’ve fallen into Slavery?”

 ”I know.”

”Do you know how much I paid?”

 ”To kill me, right?”

”What, did you not listen to the conversation with Kauhar?”

 ”Did you talk to Kauhar?”

”Yes, you were quite restless when you heard her voice; don’t you remember?”

She fell silent for some reason.

”Kenze Hashina, that’s your name, isn’t it?”

She stood up, grabbed the iron bars, and kept shouting “Why” at me. What a troublesome person.

If she’s stood up, that’s perfect. I took out bread and a cup of soup from the basket.

”That’s enough, give me your hand.”

She’s glaring at me for some reason.

 ”Here, it’s food, take it.”

She wouldn’t put her hand out, so I forced it on her.

”I’ll tell you what I talked about with Kauhar, so listen while you eat.”

When I said that, she finally accepted the bread and the cup. Seeing Kenze start to eat, I told her about the Besanburg Fabric shop being burned down after the attack, and about today’s Capital Offense Slavery auction.

 And then, from Kauhar,

I want her body if she dies.

If you resell her after six months, please sell her to us.

If you raise Children, take them at age ten, or if possible, let us take them when they reach seven.

I told her I heard these three things.

I left out the part about Kenze possibly killing herself. If she dies in this room, it would haunt me, and I wouldn’t know what to do if she came back as a ghost.

The person herself is eating bread while muttering to herself in a language I don’t understand.

 ”Where are you going?”

 ”To work.”

”Why, are you taking the blanket with you?”

”If it gets late, I’ll just sleep there.”

 ”I see.”

”When you finish eating, put the cup outside the cage; I’ll return it to the Dining Hall.”

 ”Understood, I have a request.”

Is she going to tell me to violate her? I’ve heard that Amazonesses are quite proactive.

”I want leaves, to wipe with.”

Ah, the thing after doing her business. Indeed, if it stays stuck to her bottom while she’s here, it smells.

I brought some from the men’s restroom outside the room and gave it to her.

Keeping or raising a person is troublesome in many ways. While thinking that, I walked up the stairs, which were unlit, while illuminating them with a portable lamp.

Someone is there. Light is leaking from under the door of the laboratory.

When I opened the door, Pamela was there.

 ”It’s been a while, Larry.”

She is Henrietta-san’s Slavery, but perhaps because she is an Elf Mage, she is an eccentric person who always speaks from a superior position.

”At this hour, where is Henrietta-san?”

”It is evident that you possess no information regarding her current circumstances,” Pamela stated precisely.

It seems she knows the reason for her recent attitude.

”Won’t you tell me? She’s been standoffish since I got here.”

”She intends to return to her parents’ home.”

”Are you serious? Can’t you stop her?”

”The precipitating factors include the treatment she received from Professor Pauman upon her arrival and the subsequent month of stagnation, which effectively extinguished her enthusiasm for ongoing research.”

Indeed, if everything you brought is thrown away, it leaves a scar on your heart. And it was Professor Pauman, whom she respected so much, who threw it away.

”Furthermore, your acquisition of the Amazoness served as the final catalyst. She has concluded that she is no longer of interest to you.”

”No, no, I’m telling you that I didn’t buy her for that purpose.”

”One does not typically engage in an auction without the intent to procure. Such deceptions are ill-advised. Moreover, an Amazoness—the anatomical implications are rather significant, are they not?”

This is bad, I have to convey it properly. The Gothic Lolita outfit has little skin exposure. To have her do Mind-reading…

 ”What are you doing!”

I hugged her and flipped up her skirt. Her underwear is in the way.

I forcibly pulled it down and touched her skin.

’Please check if I am lying.’

I communicated that immediately via Telepathy.

’Your actions are irrational; such conduct necessitates accountability.’

’If it’s responsibility, I’ll take as much as you want.’

’Ensure that this sentiment persists beyond our telepathic connection.’

After that exchange, the Elf Mage’s consciousness touched and entered mine.

 ”What are you two doing!”

At an inopportune time, Henrietta-san entered. But if I stop the Mind-reading here, my innocence cannot be proven. If it cannot be proven, Henrietta-san will return to her parents’ home.

’The verification is complete. Do not forget your assertion.’

With that Telepathy, I pulled my hand out from under the skirt and let go. Pamela also pulled up her underwear and straightened her disheveled clothes before turning to Henrietta-san.

”Henrietta, this man is a fool.”

What, coming out of the blue. Well, that might not be entirely wrong.

”He wishes to assume responsibility for your presence at this academy.”

Yes, I suppose I have to take some kind of responsibility. Is that how the conversation is flowing?

”He expresses a desire for matrimony; it appears your shared interests extend to other domains as well.”

 Hey!

Hey, there’s a limit to how much you can paraphrase my feelings. Well, I don’t dislike it, but I should say those things from my own mouth.

 I look at Henrietta-san fearfully.

”He humbly requests your acceptance as his fourth wife, Henrietta.”

At Pamela’s words, Henrietta-san looked at me.

 ”Is it no good?”

It’s not because I’ll be short of staff in the lab, you know.

 ”How can you…”

Henrietta-san is shaking her head from side to side. Did she understand?

 ”Then, what about the Slavery?”

”His assertions were verified as factual through telepathic analysis.”

”Is that so? But, am I really okay? I’m quite a bit older, you know.”

 ”That doesn’t matter.”

I got engaged quite lightly, but in this world, is it alright to take a fourth wife? Well, I believe you can take up to four wives in Islam, so I guess it’s fine. I could likely manage the upbringing economically, too.

Above all, it’s a shame to let such a pervert go.

”Come on, why don’t you give it a go?”

Pamela urges me on with vulgar words.

”Let me tell you, once we are married, you had better satisfy me too.”

That Elf Mage whispered something ridiculous as we parted ways.

 Are you kidding me?

A chill runs down my spine as I recall the night at Getys House.

However, I had firmly captured the most important person—the partner who was about to leave.

 I will have no regrets.

The next morning, I bought a basket first thing and returned to the room. Kenze was grabbing the iron bars and doing pull-ups.

”I suppose that is what they mean by a warrior race.”

She continued without reacting to my words.

I happened to look in front of the cage and saw the cup I handed her yesterday, along with the contents pushed out from her private parts3.

 What a pain.

Why on earth am I keeping such a dangerous slave?

I had no choice, so I took the contents, dumped them in the men’s restroom, rinsed them away with the stored water until clean, and brought them back along with some leaves.

 ”Breakfast?” Larry asked.

”Yeah. Hand it over,” Kenze replied.

”Before that, I want a wet towel.”

 ”You’re a pain, just wait a minute.”

Even though this is the Royal Capital, there is naturally no running water.

There is a well at the end of the dormitory hallway; I drew water into a bucket using the windlass and soaked the towel.

If it were a normal attendant, they might have been killed by Kenze.

Still, I cannot keep doing this forever.

Besides, summer vacation is coming soon.

That’s right, summer vacation is in one week.

What should I do? My brother took me to the Royal Capital in the spring, and I was only at home for a few days.

It would be bad if I didn’t go back and relax during summer vacation.

Above all, my sister-in-law is due to give birth.

But I cannot just leave Kenze here.

There is no one to take care of her.

 Ah, this is a headache.

When I returned to the room, her training seemed to be finished.

 ”Here, a wet towel.”

When I handed it through the iron bars, the Amazoness threw off her tunic and became completely naked.

Brown, taut skin, well-shaped large breasts, a constricted waist with narrow hips and a rounded rear, plus long limbs.

She had a better body than some mediocre glamour model.

”You ain’t killin’ me, so why the hell you ain’t screwin’ me? You impotent or somethin’?”

She threw provocative words at me while stark naked.

”Ah, I’m good on that, thanks.”

Since I had already done it three times in the lab last night, her erotic body didn’t even make me flinch, even though it was right in front of me.

Besides, if it were her, I might get killed for some reason while in the middle of it.

 ”Here, your breakfast.”

When I handed it through the iron bars, she started eating while still naked.

If the Dorm Head saw this, I’d be in trouble, but well, whatever.

 ”I’m going to sleep.”

I couldn’t really sleep soundly on the floor of the lab.

Even though Kenze was there, I crawled into bed.

I wonder if it will be alright to take her back to the village.

Should I borrow the semi-underground cell in the Village Head Tower?

As I thought about such things, a wave of sleepiness attacked me, and I let go of my consciousness.

No, I was about to let it go.

I heard someone knocking hard on the door, so I had no choice but to lift my body and head toward it.

”Professor Karl, what is the matter, so early in the morning?”

Standing outside the door was Professor Karl, who I had met just yesterday, with a beaming smile.

”Larry-kun, I have received the intelligence. It has been confirmed that you have acquired an Amazoness. Would you be so kind as to facilitate an observation?”

 Huh?

 —

 Summary:

The protagonist impulsively wins an auction for an Amazoness mercenary. He quickly encounters an intelligence agent from the Turkic Empire who warns him about the nature of the slave he has purchased. The agent hints at a deeper geopolitical and personal interest in the individual.

Larry navigates the complex social and professional aftermath of his impulsive purchase of an Amazoness slave named Kenze. Amidst the ridicule and suspicion of his colleagues, he struggles to manage Kenze, who is a former intelligence agent. Henrietta-san’s withdrawal leads to a confrontation where Pamela facilitates a telepathic reconciliation. The situation ends in a surprising engagement between Larry and Henrietta.

Larry attempts to manage the daily needs of his captive Amazoness, Kenze, while struggling with the logistics of his upcoming summer break. His morning routine is interrupted by the unexpected arrival of Professor Karl. Karl confronts Larry with an invasive request to inspect the enslaved Amazoness.

 Translation Notes:

1 A Japanese idiom literally meaning “the flower stalk has grown,” used here to suggest someone is past their prime or fading in attractiveness.

2 Literally “double the asking price.” Used in the auction context to set a high, yet unrealistic, benchmark for bidding or purchasing, which the merchant uses to frame a “good deal.”

3 This refers to a euphemism for bodily waste in the original Japanese text.

Stoic yet warmly reluctant, she has thick, curly chestnut hair, a plush Russian hat, and a reverse-leather coat. Haas assists the protagonist with logistics/tactics and handles Larry while coordinating secret national tech.

• Al – Alberto (Al), a massive red‑haired man recently wed to Mary, lives near the Dish Basin. He’s a companion of Hans, helping intimidate and rally elders as a villager and leader.

• Ho – Ho, a comrade of the protagonist. A member of the military unit that defended Garao Village and was slaughtered alongside Marx-san.

• Henrietta – Disheveled Gothic-Lolita Bizan Dorm Head and lab supervisor who collaborates with the protagonist, teasing and reading his mind while recovering from past emotional trauma. Under her admired, poorly managing Professor Pauman, she researches Golem labs, rivals Line, and owns Pamela. Despite military pressure on her magic ship research, she strictly enforces Church discipline. Pragmatic yet slightly perverted, she hides a raw, submissive side.

• Principal – The mother of Line and the administrative head of the institution. She exercises authoritative control over research assignments and seeks to trade Larry for Ilse Klein due to interpersonal conflicts in her laboratories. The mother of Sabrina and Rhein who intervenes during Rhein’s violent corridor assault to break up the confrontation.

• Kenze – An Amazoness former intelligence operative—now Larry’s slave—who is pregnant with his child. Despite her utilitarian, detached demeanor, she remains hostile, violent, and wary of being treated as an experimental subject, though she is obedient in controlled environments due to her biology. Once a proud mercenary with tendon damage, she nurses children from a jar and fiercely protects her comrades.

• Helbert – Helbert Ougen-Sigmund is a short, older Royal Army General Staff Lieutenant Colonel. With a physically imposing build and manipulative strategic mind, the former Vod Fortress manager directs a Schuberitz Intelligence Bureau lab. Well-loved by subordinates, he currently watches over the recovering protagonist.

• Bizan – The Bizan family name, held by the Viscount. He is the lord of the territory and owner of the castle built within the Danube River.

• Major – A commanding military officer with a sadistic inclination toward interrogation. She orchestrates the sessions and utilizes Telepathy to coordinate with her subordinates.

• Sonya – Major Sonya is a child-sized, petite elf with pointed ears, a muscular build, and a cheerful voice. Commanding the Schuberitz Kingdom’s 101st Golem Battalion, she masks her terrifying power behind a dual personality, shifting from a formal officer to a cruel “gal-type.” An exceptionally skilled sadist, she uses mind-reading and painful mana injections to toy with the protagonist’s growth.

• Kauhar – An operative for the Turkic Empire intelligence agency posing as a fabric shop owner. A woman leading a group of Amazonesses.

• Larry Fee Getys – Larry Fee Getys is a Strock Village youth and military researcher dealing with mobilization and personal dilemmas. He inherits a rugged warrior appearance, holds forest lands, and leads his village.

Moving to Himeji, Japan, he masks explosive strength in plain clothes, cautious of eccentric professors. He balances duties with managing his wives and a newly acquired Amazoness.

• Fee – Larry Fee Getys, of the court-recognized Fee lineage, heads the Getys household governing Strock Village alongside Hans and Iffens. • Marie – Novakova is a bold, 15-year-old noblewoman, Bizan Magic School student, and competent mana tech researcher comically resembling Nico with a floral hairpiece. Isabella’s niece and the Barsheni elder’s granddaughter, she is currently pregnant, expecting the protagonist—a colleague she is displeased with—to act as a father figure while she raises the child with her boyfriend Larry. She is also an acquaintance of Asuha preparing for clinical training.

• Romy – A flamboyant, blunt 16-year-old “troubled child” from the ‘von’ Odonkor family. A heavily made-up yet cute Magic School freshman, she serves as Henrietta’s messy lab assistant and casual researcher, though she struggles with technical concepts and low Mana. She funds herself through blueprints, dislikes the professor, sides with Marie, and has complex, teasing bonds with Larry and the protagonist.
