Volume 2 Chapter 9 Henrietta
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”What happened?”
A strange sensation.
I have consciousness, but I’ve lost all feeling in my body.
Control of this body won’t return from that Parasite Host.
This is the first time this has happened.
I can feel the Parasite Host’s presence.
What is going on? The Parasite Host’s spirit is brittle, as if it’s about to collapse.
(What’s wrong with you? Feeling remorse this late in the game, old man?)
It was the first time I had ever called out to the Parasite Host.
I was furious that his heart was aching just because he had killed people in a war.
If you’re that weak, then just break already.
And yet, despite being that kind of guy, he did something outrageous last night after I let go of my consciousness.
(Aaaah, what the hell did you do to Nico-san?)
Of all things, the Parasite Host had been embracing Nico-san.
”Larry… is that you?”
The Parasite Host’s voice called out to me. His oblivious words made my blood boil. What is wrong with this guy’s mind?
I reach out toward the Parasite Host’s consciousness. I can’t quite reach it. Just a little more.
I want to settle this once and for all. Just a little more. I’ll crush you!
The moment I touched him, something snapped.
* * *
”Larry… is that you?”
When I called out, Larry’s consciousness drew closer.
Was he trying to swallow my consciousness whole?
Well, if that’s how it is, it can’t be helped.
After all, I’m the squatter who reincarnated into Larry’s mind without permission.
Besides, I’ve had more than enough of killing.
”Live!”
An internal voice? Something exploded.
When I woke up, Nico-san and Marie were peering down at me.
”Honestly, don’t scare us like that! You suddenly collapsed… it was a huge pain carrying you to the bed,” Nico said.
”A-Ah… thanks,” I replied.
I realized I had been laid in a soft bed.
As I propped myself up, I saw that this was my room in the dorms.
Nico-san stood up, saying she’d go get something to drink.
”Where’s Larry?”
The words slipped out of my mouth.
The consciousness of Larry had vanished from within me.
”What kinda crazy talk are you spittin’ now?” Marie asked with a suspicious look.
I grabbed Marie’s hand.
”What is it? So sudden…”
I could feel her consciousness—she was bewildered, but also a little happy.
(Marie.)
(What is it?)
The Telepathy¹ worked.
(Ah, no… it’s nothing.)
(What’s with you?)
When I let go of her hand, Marie’s consciousness also faded.
There were no problems.
However, the Autism mode² Larry I used to feel in the corner of my mind was gone.
No, it wasn’t that he was gone exactly, but it didn’t feel the same.
Did we fuse? I can feel a presence, though it’s very faint.
”Hey, you! What do you think you’re doing?!” Nico barked.
”He’s just so cute, I thought I’d give him a little kiss,” Marie said.
Apparently, Marie had been trying to steal a kiss while I was out of it.
”Don’t do such stupid things in front of people!” Nico snapped.
”Oh? You jealous? Hmph,” Marie teased.
As expected, Nico-san and Marie are like oil and water.
”Um, since you’ve regained consciousness, would you like to go grab some lunch?”
One of Marie’s friends—the girl with the long black hair who had blushed at Marie’s antics—suggested this at the perfect moment.
”Yeah, I’m definitely hungry,” I said.
”Are you really okay?” Nico asked, looking worried.
I was concerned about the Larry who had vanished, but there was nothing I could do.
Besides, the depression I had been feeling until a moment ago seemed to have lifted.
”Then let’s get goin’, let’s get goin’!” Marie cheered.
Her smile at times like this really is cute, though.
”Well then, Larry, have a safe trip,” Nico said.
”What’re you yappin’ about? You’re comin’ too!” Marie yelled.
Nico-san tried to stay behind, but Marie grabbed her hand and started dragging her along.
”I’m bringin’ my attendant too, so let’s move it!”
Marie looked dead serious as she persuaded the struggling Nico-san.
I felt like I was seeing an unexpected side of her.
”Nico-san, let’s go together,” I added.
When I gave her a little nudge, she reluctantly gave in.
”Alright, I’m gonna go grab my attendant!” Marie said as she dashed out of the room first.
”What about you guys? If you have attendants, you should bring them,” I suggested.
When I spoke to the girls with the long black hair and the short brown hair, they told me they weren’t well-off, so they didn’t have maids or slaves.
Well, my family isn’t exactly rich either.
”I’ll earn my own keep,” Nico muttered to herself.
Hearing the two girls’ answer, Nico-san was clearly thinking about her own situation.
It wasn’t clear yet how much Nico-san could earn from her part-time job.
Personally, I wasn’t thrilled about being a leech either.
It was a stroke of luck that there was a part-time job for Amber charging³.
I have to balance it with my studies, but I was a working adult in my old world.
Even as a student here, I should be able to handle it.
Probably.
If you head west from the eastern end where the dorms are, you find the lecture hall.
On the first floor, there’s a cafeteria, a shop, and the laundry reception where Nico-san works.
Walking through it, the school is quite expansive; running a full lap would be great exercise.
I recalled that there are only about thirty students per grade, yet the cafeteria was quite crowded.
There weren’t many in uniform; I saw people in maid outfits like Nico-san, and older people in plain clothes.
The cafeteria was self-service; you take a tray and move along the counter.
The variety wasn’t huge, but with several types of sausages, bread, salad-like sides, soup, and stew, I had no complaints.
For the payment, I just had to show the account plaque I received this morning.
The cafeteria had many long tables. To wait for Marie, we took a spot at the end of a table that was only half-full.
As soon as we sat down, the people nearby who had been chatting drifted away instantly.
”Sorry. It’s because I’m here,” I said.
The word had probably spread from the students who had repeated a year.
I apologized to Marie’s surprised friends with a bitter smile.
”Well, normally, nobody wants to eat with a murderer,” the girl with the short brown hair cut right to the chase.

”Stop it, Sig!” Manuela cried.
”It’s fine. Killing and being killed is just what a battlefield is. It was the result of fighting for the country, right? I’m saying the people who complain about it are the weird ones,” Sig argued.
The girl with the long black hair tried to stop her with some tact, but Sig actually made a good point.
”Is your name Sig?” I asked.
”Oh, that? It’s actually Sigrid. Since it’s long, everyone calls me Sig. Makes me sound like a boy, doesn’t it? My surname is Bosch. I’m from the Holstein territory. I failed the entrance exam for the Magic School in the nearby Sabaski territory, so I ended up here,” she explained.
She was refreshingly blunt about it.
”Ah, I am Manuela Moritz. I’m from the Harritz territory. It’s a bit embarrassing, but I failed my local Magic School and came here,” Manuela said.

Unlike Sig, the girl with the long black hair introduced herself shyly.
So both of them had failed the Magic School in the Harritz territory and ended up at this Bizan Magic School.
Was it as the principal said—that only the underachieving kids gathered here?
I didn’t feel like these two were particularly bad in any way.
”Ah, Marie!” Manuela stood up and waved as she spotted Marie at the cafeteria entrance.
Marie waved back, but behind her, a conspicuous duo entered: a woman in black and a young girl in white.
”Hey, look at the one in black. Her tits are huge,” Nico whispered to me.
I couldn’t bring myself to tell her that was Henrietta-san, the graduate student I’d be studying under.
It seemed Manuela and Sig were whispering about the same thing.
Marie approached the table, and I recognized the girl following her like a shadow.
”Larry, do you remember her? This is Darina. Darina Kubisova. From Barsheni Village,” Marie said.
I remembered.
She was the girl who had her Mana tested alongside Marie.
She had more Mana than me and was judged to be a Complex-type Mana user⁴.
”Yeah, I remember. But why the maid outfit? A girl with her talent should’ve easily passed the exam,” I said.
”Well, she’s only thirteen. We made a deal that if she acts as my attendant for a year, my family—the Novakova house—will cover her food and living expenses,” Marie explained.
I suppose even just food costs would be hard for a Yeoman family to manage, so it couldn’t be helped.
”It has been a long time. Greetings,” Darina said.
Unlike Marie, Darina used formal speech to greet me.
She was modest, but as a Complex-type⁵, she was likely superior even to Granny Ferris.
That meant there was a possibility she was Level 4; I wish there were some kind of scholarship for her.
Just as Marie and Darina were about to sit across from me, the Gothic Lolita, Henrietta-san, approached as well.
”Oh, if it isn’t Larry Fee Getys. Do you mind if we join you for lunch?” Henrietta asked.
There was no saying no—she held a higher position in this school.
She sat at our table along with the girl in white Goth-Loli clothes.
”Are these people part of your faction?” Henrietta asked with a smile.
”No, it’s not really like that…” I trailed off.
I gave a brief introduction of Marie, her friends, Darina, and Nico-san.
Then I introduced Henrietta-san to everyone as the graduate student I’d be studying under next year.
”I see. So you’re the student from Kiridal. You’re a Simple-type Mana user⁶, right? Most people in this school become librarians, so it’s almost all Complex-types⁷. It’s rare to have four Simple-types this year,” Henrietta noted.
”Wait, then I’ll be studyin’ under Henrietta-san too!” Marie exclaimed.
”We’ll see. A graduate student can only take on two students at most,” Henrietta replied.
If Marie studied under Henrietta-san too, considering what the principal said, it might cause some friction.
Besides, Nico-san, sitting next to me, was clearly in a bad mood.
”And who are you two?” Henrietta asked.
She looked at Sig and Manuela, who both replied they were Complex-types⁸.
By the way, the girl in white with Henrietta-san was apparently her slave, Pamela.
”I see. Well, for now, let’s eat,” Henrietta said.
I had forgotten about the soup sitting in front of me, which was starting to get cold.
It had been a while since I’d had a proper lunch.
I used to only eat two meals a day, but if I get into the habit of eating lunch, I might be able to fill out my frame a bit more, even if I never get as big as my older brother.
”Um… the placement exams are in January, and that’s when the teachers and graduate students are decided. Why is it already decided for Larry-san?” Manuela asked.
”That’s because of the request of a special recommender. Major Sonya of the Golem Battalion⁹,” Henrietta explained.
Henrietta-san was dipping her bread into her stew as she spoke, making a bit of a mess on the table.
”I’m the only one here who deals with Golems, so that’s just how it is.”
”Then I’m gonna be a Golem User too!” Marie shouted.
Marie showed her enthusiasm, but Henrietta-san just watched her with a lukewarm, knowing gaze.
The girl in white kept catching my eye.
She was covered like a devout woman from my old world—her neck and forehead hidden, with only her face showing.
A large-brimmed hair ornament obscured half of her face.
She was a slave, but I couldn’t see the crest that should have been carved on her forehead because of her clothes.
”Oh? Are you interested in Pamela, Larry-kun?” Henrietta asked.
Two people froze at Captain Henrietta’s words.
I played it off as a lucky guess, telling them I’d simply assumed they were slaves because I couldn’t see the slave marks that should’ve been on their foreheads.
The meal ended shortly after without much more conversation.
Then, Henrietta-san offered to treat everyone to coffee.
It was the first time I’d heard the word “coffee” since arriving in this world.
”I’d heard that coffee prices had gone through the roof because of the wars in the south. Are you sure about this?”
Manuela-san, her long black hair swaying as she tilted her head, looked skeptical.
Henrietta-san just waved it off, saying the conflict was cooling down and the market was finally stabilizing.
”Pamela, use this.”
She handed an account plate—made of a much finer material than ours—to her Goth-Loli slave.
Nico chimed in, saying, “I’ll help too,” and followed her out.
”So, what does the aptitude test¹⁰ actually involve?”
Sig asked the question we were all thinking.
Henrietta-san gave us a little disclaimer, mentioning that the official orientation wouldn’t start until the 4th of next month, but then she decided to give us some inside baseball.
In reality, the school had already pretty much decided how to sort the students during the entrance exams.
The sorting process was split into three categories: Grouping, Classing, and Mentorship.
The aptitude test was just the final check to confirm those placements.
’Grouping’ was all about the academics.
For the first year, everyone takes the same general education, general magic theory, and basic magic principles together.
From the second year on, you split into specialized tracks to study your specific field and magic law.
(By the way, the rules are cutthroat. If you miss even a quarter of your classes, you lose the credit. Fail a single credit, and you’re repeating the year.)
’Classing’ was determined by your raw Mana¹¹ volume, ranking from A to F.
Each class studies every system of magic through both lectures and labs.
That meant even a “Simple-type¹²” user like me had to grind through the theory and practice of “Complex-type¹³ medical spells.”
The reasoning was that even if I could only handle Simple-type magic, there might be medical situations where I’d need to assist.
Plus, once you’re out in the world, any Mage worth their salt needs to understand other systems for coordination.
The final piece was the ‘Mentorship’—deciding which researcher you’d be assigned to.
First-years start with their researcher in February, while second-years start right after the new year.
They review the assignments every six months, but unless you really butt heads with your mentor, most people stay with the same one until graduation.
Since my spot was already locked in, I’d be sticking with Henrietta-san the moment the calendar turned.
”Once the testing is over, your mornings will be lectures and labs, and your afternoons will be spent under your researcher’s wing. Though, at first, you’re basically just a glorified errand boy,” she warned.
The aptitude test itself was mostly Kumite¹⁴—sparring—with various professors and researchers, though there were written and physical tests as well.
”Class placement is mostly about Mana volume, but we can’t ignore stamina, endurance, and focus. We also look at your literacy and language skills. If you’re lacking there, you might get bumped down to a low-Mana class even if you’ve got a huge tank. People with low Mana can still grow if the teaching matches their level, but if someone with high Mana gets stuck in a bottom-tier class, they tend to plateau. So, Marie-san, was it? You’d better get used to the language around here sooner rather than later.”
As we listened, Pamela and Nico returned with the coffee, then went to clear the table.
”Can you actually handle Mana?”
Henrietta-san’s finger brushed against Darina’s as she took the cup.
She turned her gaze directly to the girl.
”That Larry-san looked me over before. He said I might have a knack for medical magic.”
”Heh, is that so?”
Henrietta-san glanced at me, and I gave a small nod.
Darina’s Mana volume was massive; she was more than qualified for this school.
”Hey, Marie-san. Mind if I check out your attendant for a second?”
Marie looked a bit flustered by the sudden request, but she didn’t say no.
”Marielle, over here!”
Henrietta-san stood up and called out to a woman nearby who was just minding her own business, eating in her everyday clothes.
”What now? I’m in the middle of a meal,” the woman complained.

Poor girl. She actually dragged her half-eaten tray over with her.
Henrietta-san explained that she was a researcher too—not in medical or biological magic, but in Magic Tools.
”Forget the food for a second. Try a little Kumite with this girl.”
”Haaah? You mean the one in the maid outfit?”
”Just do it. What’s your name, kid?”
”Darina Kubisova.”
Marielle-san remarked that it was a strange name.
The two of them faced off and began an Elf-style sparring session.
Almost instantly, a thick white vapor started pouring out from between their pressed palms, looking exactly like steam hissing out from under a pot lid.
”Whoa, you’re the real deal. Can you push out a bit more?”
Marielle-san started siphoning the mana more seriously this time.
The white smoke stopped billowing out, but every now and then, the Mana she couldn’t quite drain would burst out with a sharp whoosh.
”That’s enough.”
When they broke the hold, their palms were stained pure white, and the leftover Mana drifted up from their skin like ghostly steam before vanishing.
”Hey, what the hell is a girl this talented doing in a maid outfit?”
”My guess? It’s a Silver Coin problem¹⁵,” Henrietta-san said.
Darina looked down at the floor, looking embarrassed.
”This girl… she’s Magic Academy level.”
”Are you serious? You mean she’s good enough for the Academy? The place everyone dreams about?”
The two researchers were practically sighing in awe.
Apparently, Darina’s potential was off the charts.
Even I hadn’t realized she was that good.
I remembered what Granny Ferris had told me.
(Larry, you’re upper-middle at best. You can make it into a Magic School, but the Academy is out of your league.)
Talent is a cruel mistress.
I’m an old man on the inside, so I get how the world works, but seeing such an incredible prodigy right in front of me… it stung a little.
”So, Marie-san. What do you want to do with her?”
Marie just blinked, her eyes darting back and forth in total confusion.
”Look, I’ll take you to see the Headmaster later,” Marielle-san chimed in.
Marie seemed to realize she didn’t have much of a choice. “Yes,” she managed to answer.
”Hey, Henrietta, get me a coffee too.”
”Fine, fine. Pamela, if you would.”
The white Goth-Loli girl stood up, and Nico went to take Marielle-san’s tray away.
(She really does have that ‘former lady’s maid’ hustle down, doesn’t she?)
Marie started grilling the two researchers about the Magic Academy, but the conversation shifted to professors and academic journals—stuff that had absolutely nothing to do with our world.
Marie’s two friends listened with interest at first, but they eventually tuned out.
The wild-child Sig even started yawning.
But just when we’d let our guard down, the spotlight swung back to me.
”So, is this boy your assistant? Or your plaything?”
”Both. Jealous? He’s Headmaster-approved.”
”Must be nice. I wish a young, hot guy like that would show up in my lab.”
”Sorry to burst your bubble, but Larry is the only male freshman this year.”
”Seriously? Man, that’s rough. Fine, Henrietta—just lend him to me once a week or something.”
”No way. I might consider once a month.”
They were having this insane conversation as if I wasn’t even sitting right there.
Marie and Nico didn’t catch on at first, but the realization eventually hit them.
”Henrietta-san, what exactly do you mean by that?” Nico snapped.
”Oh, didn’t I tell you? Larry-kun is only allowed to have s*x with me and you in this school. Anyone else needs to get a permit from the Headmaster first.”
Nico looked conflicted, but Marie’s jaw practically hit the floor.
Technically, I was told to “report” if I had any physical relationships, but Henrietta-san was framing it as an official “permit.”
The vibe in the room turned toxic fast.
”What in the hell is you talkin’ ’bout-da-be?!”
”Exactly what it sounds like. The Headmaster only cleared me and Nico-san to be Larry-kun’s partners. Why? Were you gunning for him too?”
”I’s Larry’s mistress, plain and simple-da-be! I gots his youngin’ in my belly right now-ga-ya!”
”Well, if that’s the case, s*x isn’t good for the baby, so you’re cut off until you give birth. Also, your speech. I told you to fix it, didn’t I?”
Marie couldn’t find a comeback.
She was fuming, her face red with nowhere to vent her rage.
She started stomping her feet in frustration before suddenly whirling on Marielle-san.
”We go. Headmaster office. Now!”
”Ehh? At least let me finish my coffee! This stuff was expensive!”
”Now! Move it!”
Marie had stopped trying to speak Kiridal properly; she was just barking out fragments of words, but the message was loud and clear.
Poor Marielle-san was dragged away alongside Darina, leaving half a cup of expensive coffee behind.
”If you two are interested, I could probably get you a ‘once-a-month’ pass too. Want me to ask the Headmaster for you?”
Henrietta-san turned her gaze toward Sig and Manuela-san.
The two of them turned bright red, shook their heads violently, muttered a quick “Thanks for the meal,” and bolted.
”Well then, Nico-san.”
Henrietta-san ignored me and focused entirely on Nico.
”Even-numbered days are mine. Odd-numbered days are yours. Sound fair?”
”I… I don’t even know what to say to that…”
”Ah, you’re right. If you start tonight, but you have to kick him out the moment it hits midnight, that’s no fun. Let’s do this: as a rule, even-numbered afternoons are yours, and odd-numbered afternoons are mine. We’ll both be busy, so we can just touch base and swap if we need to. How’s that?”
(Excuse me, Henrietta-san? Did you forget I’m actually a person here?)
”It doesn’t have to be right this second. You might not know since you’re an ‘incompetent,’ but people who can handle Mana—men and women alike—have incredibly high s*x drives. In a closed-off environment like this school, especially with so few men around, you can’t expect to keep him all to yourself. If you try to hold onto him too tight, you’re just going to end up hurt.”
Well, back in the village, I’ve already got three wives, so I doubt Nico is planning on “monopolizing” me.
Still, she didn’t look like she was ready to just say “sure, whatever” to this.
”I know! I like playing with girls, too, so why don’t the three of us just go at it together? We could even bring Pamela in and make it a foursome.”
She said it with a bright smile, like she’d just solved a math problem, but she was way off the mark.
I figured I really needed to be the one to put my foot down here.
But just as I opened my mouth to speak, Nico stood up.
—
Summary:
Larry confronts the internal consciousness of his body, leading to a mental clash and an eventual fusion. He awakens in the dormitory surrounded by Nico and Marie before heading to the cafeteria. There, he meets the graduate student Henrietta and her mysterious slave Pamela
Henrietta dictates the academic and sexual hierarchy of the school while revealing Darina’s dormant potential through a sparring match. Marie’s pregnancy claim disrupts the group’s dynamic, leading to a confrontation with the school’s social elite. Nico stands up as Henrietta proposes a communal sexual arrangement involving multiple women
—
Trivia:
- Larry’s previous life as a working adult influenced his confidence in handling student life
- The social stigma of being a ‘murderer’ (soldier) causes students to avoid Larry’s table
- Darina’s arrangement as an attendant is a financial necessity for her Yeoman-class family
- Bizan Magic School is perceived as a place for ‘underachievers’ who failed elsewhere
- The material of account plates indicates social standing
- The ‘Silver Coin problem’ is a direct reference to Darina’s inability to afford the Academy
- Incompetents (non-mages) are noted to have lower s*x drives compared to mana-users
- The school year begins with a strict credit-fail syste
—
Character Insight:
Larry experiences a permanent shift in his mental landscape as the ‘Autism mode’ consciousness fusions with his own, leaving him more stable but feeling ‘different’.
Darina is revealed to be a high-tier prodigy, while Henrietta moves from professional mentor to an assertive sexual manager.
