Volume 3 Chapter 43 Repulsion
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Why?”
I ask Maria, who despite being in her teens, wears an alluring, practiced smile.
”Why? You don’t get it?” she asks, her voice dripping with a sneer.
It’s not that I don’t get it. I’m just stalling for time.
”Heathen barbarians like you dared to defy our order,” she declares, her tone sharp and accusatory. “You deserve a thousand deaths. And you’re tied to that Schweilitz brat who degrades the Universal Church. Is there even a reason to hesitate?”
The sheer condescension.
”On top of that, you killed my father…”
Her emotional state must be unstable; she suddenly drops the facade, turning into a vulnerable young girl, eyes welling with tears.
But wait—it was Thomas who killed your father.
Weren’t you sleeping together? Did you not try to [Mind-reading] him?1
”Uh, I hate to contradict you, but we were merely acting in self-defense,” I reply, keeping my voice neutral and calm.
”What are you even saying?” she shrieks, her face contorting. “Where is the logic in resisting the Universal Church believers chosen by God? You heathen barbarians.”
She discards the girl-next-door act, her eyes narrowing with visceral hatred. It’s a textbook case of how indoctrination against “infidels” warps one’s perspective to the core.
”But in the end, we all die the same way—old and sick, don’t we?” I observe.
”No,” she snaps back. “The suffering of Universal Church believers is a trial, a divine intention from God. When they pass, they are summoned to heaven. Heathens like you simply fall to hell.”
Born to a Bishop, her mind is clearly cemented in dogma. She’s getting agitated. To ensure she doesn’t notice, I silently untie one of the cords of the [Coilgun] strapped inside my mantle.
”In that case, I suppose this is a trial, too,” I remark.
”Listen up, girl,” a man’s voice suddenly booms from behind Maria.
At that exact moment, an arrow whistles through the air, piercing her knee.
It’s an iron arrow.
Maria topples forward, slamming her hands onto the dirt. Almost instantly, more arrows pin the backs of her hands to the ground. She wretches her beautiful face in agony, letting out a stifled groan.
The men surrounding us duck, unnerved by the sudden chaos. But the archer—clearly an elite—fires with rhythmic precision. Not a single shot misses; they strike just wide of vital points, pinning limbs to the earth to neutralize any movement.
As the volley ends, two men emerge from the shadows of Thomas’s house. In sync, men clad in uniforms spill out from the field hospital and the stables.
”I was under the impression the Grand Duke was supposed to be heading to the Bryachislavichi port?” the lead officer demands, his tone clipped and procedural.
”Well, you know,” I say, trying to sound casual. “I was worried about Thomas. Had a feeling something like this might happen.”
”Do you have any sense of responsibility as a head of state?” the officer barks.
I just got scolded.
And they called me “you.” Are these military police really that high and mighty?
”Now, now,” a voice chimes in. “As you can see, Larry is still just a novice. Please, be generous and overlook his transgressions.”
That tone… I’ve heard it somewhere before.
”Are you an acquaintance of the hospital director?” I ask.
”Indeed,” she replies with a sophisticated air. “A toy of my friend’s—or rather, a friend, yes.”
She just said “toy.” She definitely said it.
That brings it all back. When I participated as a [Militia] in the Battle of [Vod Fortress], there was an Elf Mage at the Linto field hospital base. The sadist who, along with [Sonya | Major], made my crotch her personal plaything.
If I remember the name…
”It’s been a while, young Larry Fee Getys,” she says, her tone smooth and polished. “I am Chulpan Ruria, whom you met in Linto. Oh, and Sergei, it has been a while for you too. You’ve certainly grown up, haven’t you?”
Right, Chulpan. As if anyone could forget the sadistic atrocities committed at the [Linto Field Hospital] base.
But how does she know my instructor?
”Do you know Chulpan, Instructor?” I ask.
”Don’t ask,” he grunts. “That’s my dark past.”
Seems there’s a bitter history there. Sounds interesting—I’ll make sure to ask later.
”Still, what are we to do about this?” Chulpan muses, her voice soft and analytical.
Chulpan’s gaze lands on Maria, pinned to the ground by the arrows.
”We received word, so I took the liberty of ‘cleaning up’ the other collaborators Maria had swimming around in the [hospital] (our facility),” she states.
”I appreciate the assistance,” I respond.
The MP who called me “you” is strangely polite toward Chulpan. That doesn’t sit well with me.
Just then, Pamela and another woman emerge from the hospital. Under the near-full moon, I can clearly see that the woman is blonde and strikingly beautiful.
”You know, Larry, your arrival has caused quite a lot of trouble, hasn’t it?” she observes.
As I’m distracted by the two of them, Chulpan turns to me, treating me like a walking headache. I mean, I only came because I was worried about Thomas, yet here I am, getting lectured.
”Are you aware of the origins of the [Proton Order]?” she asks.
I shake my head. The sadistic Elf Mage begins to explain, deadly serious.
They started as a monastery in the [Empire of Charle] providing medical aid to the downtrodden. When the [Martyr Army] launched their first and second campaigns under the guise of “reclaiming the holy land” for the Universal Church, they followed along as a medical unit. However, during the second campaign, they were unable to return home due to [Silver Coin] issues and settled near the border of [Harmonia] and [Venotia]. As time went on, they militarized—partly as a necessity of the times—which drew backlash. A dozen years ago, they were invited by the then-King of [Larland], who was struggling with the [Empire of Rus] invasion, and moved to a region slightly south of here, on the condition that they be granted autonomy.
Initially, their prized [Heavy Cavalry soldiers] managed to repel the [Empire of Rus], but eventually, they were defeated by the growing might of Rus, and Larland collapsed. In the ensuing power vacuum, they carved out a foothold as the [Proton Order].
”We were originally an order of [Medical Magic],” Chulpan explains, “so we had the infrastructure to train mages and develop medical technology. If the [Clerical figure] hadn’t fallen into decadence, we might have even been able to establish a proper nation.”
Come to think of it, there were quite a few church-affiliated hospitals back in Japan in my previous life. I’ve even been to one with nuns.
”During the plague six years ago, other nations lost a third or even half their population, didn’t they?” she continues. “Yet, in the old [Larland], even without a government, we managed to keep the death toll to around ten percent.”
”And you’re saying that was thanks to the [Proton Order]?” I ask.
”I wouldn’t say it was entirely us,” she admits, “but it is a fact that cleaning skin with high-proof alcohol did provide a certain level of prevention.”
True. Even in my past life, it was common knowledge that alcohol disinfection is effective against infectious diseases.
Pamela and the others walk over.
”Could you bring Thomas here?” she directs. “He seems to have been knocked unconscious, so please wake him up properly. I’m counting on you.”
After giving them the order, she looks back at me.
”That is why there are, surprisingly, quite a few people in this land who are devoted to the [Proton Order].”
”Then why on earth did you invade the [Polotsk Principality]?” I blurt out.
”Because of that, Larry,” she answers coolly. “You and Thomas.”
The answer isn’t what I expected.
The [Proton Order] had been hoping that the [Haritz remnants] of the Universal Church would establish a nation the size of the [Fee Grand Principality]. Instead, we came in, drove out the Haritz, and started building something else entirely. It seems their military action was triggered by the panic of that, and specifically, the fact that I am a candidate for the [Fifth Sage] of [Schweilitz].
For the Universal Church, the religious policy changes enacted by the [Second Sage] in the [Kingdom of Schweilitz] were a bitter experience that wiped out major [Clerical figure]s. The Sages that followed didn’t try to soften those policies, and the [Fourth Sage] even went so far as to start some incomprehensible religion called [Shinto], which they believe is a direct attack on the Universal Church.
So, when a [Fifth Sage] candidate popped up and unified three factions in the blink of an eye, the [Proton Order] lost their patience and launched a military offensive. But at the [Battle of Mustopae], their proud [Heavy Cavalry soldiers] were crushed, and they even lost [Trabius], which they had been using as a staging ground.
They sent assassins to the founding ceremony, only to be turned back; then, they lost [Twanste], the town of the first rank, and to top it all off, we brought in [Yan], the former [Kingdom of Larland General], and their knighthood was dismantled in an instant.
”You lot—or rather, you—are a devil to them,” she states. “Do you understand?”
Well, I suppose that’s one way of looking at it.
”But…” I start.
”There are no ‘buts’ or ‘scarecrows’ here,” she cuts me off. “As long as you are around, unnecessary waves will continue to be made. Even in our own field hospital, we have [Medical Mage]s who were formerly part of the knighthood working for us.”
Am I really hated that much? It stings more than I expected.
Thomas, accompanied by Pamela and the blonde beauty, returns. Seeing Maria pinned to the ground, Thomas pulls the arrows out of the earth, hand and all. Maria, who had been moaning immediately after being shot, is now drifting in and out of consciousness due to the blood loss and pain from her knees.
”Hey, can you burn these arrows off halfway through?” Thomas asks, his voice weary.
Thomas picks Maria up, looking at me with a pained expression.
”What are you going to do?” I ask.
”I want her treated, for now,” he says.
If Chulpan is right, my absence might be enough to settle the unrest of these malcontents. But is this woman safe? Her [Mana] capacity is greater than mine. If she starts rampaging, there’s no stopping her.
”Please,” Thomas begs.
Maria’s eyes aren’t focusing. As I approach to cut the iron arrows off with [Fireball], Chulpan stops me.
”Don’t,” she commands. “That girl is far too dangerous.”
Her assessment is correct. With her immobilized, killing her now is the safest move.
But…
”I won’t let her go on a rampage,” I promise. “I promise.”
That’s an out-of-character thing for a [General] to say. But if I kill Maria here, I feel like Thomas’s mind will shatter.
Just how much has this girl stolen his heart?
And we’re the ones who have killed countless people.
”But she’s likely staring at you, thinking you’re the enemy who killed her father,” she point out.
”I know,” I said. “That’s fine.”
It’s just not like him.
”Very well,” Chulpan sighs. “If you are willing to entrust her to [Sonya | Major], I will let it slide. However, she is too dangerous to keep living at your house as before.”
Well, if it’s that monster ([Major]), she might be able to control this woman, but what do you want to do, Thomas?
”That’s fine,” Thomas agrees. “Maria is carrying my child.”
Is that what it is? Then again, it could be a cuckoo’s egg.
Saying that might get me called a scumbag.
”Understood,” Chulpan says. “Then, Larry, please burn off the iron arrows. But perform only the hemostasis. It would be troublesome if she were able to walk freely or cast [Fireball].”
”A hand injury is enough to stop her from casting [Fireball]?” I ask.
”With a wound this severe, the mechanism for controlling [Mana] should have been damaged as well,” she explains.
”Even so…” I hesitate.
”She was taught how to use [Mana] by a [Complex-type] Mage from [our field hospital],” she adds, “so I cannot tell you much about [Simple-type Magic].”
I see. Well, Thomas’s house and the field hospital are close, so that must be how it happened.
Though, I heard later that when Thomas was choosing a house, Maria specifically requested a place near the field hospital.
It seems that things which appear coincidental are often anything but.
Finally, the medics emerged from the hospital, and with the help of the military police, they loaded the men who had been writhing in agony from arrow wounds onto stretchers to take them inside.
The military police officer who had spoken to me first approached, but for some reason, he stopped in his tracks.
”Long time no see, Larry-san,” the officer greeted, his tone clipped and procedural.
Hearing a voice from behind, I turned to find a beautiful blonde woman standing there. Who was she again? It seemed the military police officer felt hesitant to approach her.
”Don’t you remember me?” she asked with an air of refined superiority.
She was a beauty, good figure too, though her chest was a bit of a letdown.
”Could it be, from the Bizan Magic School…” I murmured, trying to place her.
”Larry-san, were you just looking at my chest?” she challenged, her voice dripping with aristocratic elegance.
”I think you’re mistaken,” I replied neutrally.
The moment I said that, she grabbed my hand.
’I knew it. Is it really that small, calling it a letdown? I’m actually quite impressive when I take my clothes off.’
’Ah, Doris von Möller-san. Top of the class since enrollment, and a bit of a nasty personality,’ I thought, my mind swirling.
Switching to telepathy, my inner thoughts slipped out before I could stop them.
’I can’t believe you thought of me like that, that’s so mean. I even gave my first kiss to Larry-san,’ her mental voice echoed, playful and sharp.
Now that she mentioned it, I recalled she had kissed me out of the blue the moment we met. But.
’That wasn’t your first, was it?’
’Lip-to-lip was a first for me.’
’It felt awfully natural.’
’That’s just your imagination,’ she countered mentally.
She’s flustered. That’s strange. Even though she has more Mana Quantity than me, I can’t read her mind. Is she using some kind of defensive barrier?
’Why are you here?’ I projected.
Since I couldn’t read her thoughts, I decided to ask her reason for being here.
’Starting in January, I’ll be attending the Magic Academy,’ she replied with a touch of noble pride.
’Don’t tell me, the recommendation given to the top two in Magic School?’
’That’s right. Plus, I’ve already passed the Medical Mage exam as a graduation requirement. I didn’t want to lose to the other Students at the Academy, and I heard that field hospital training is the best place to hone your skills, so I begged Papa to let me come.’
Huh. I remember a senior who came to the field hospital because they lacked credits. But to hone one’s skills, huh.
”Even so, Larry-san, you’ve grown quite a bit,” she noted, her voice full of upper-class poise.
She let go of my hand, placed her palm horizontally above her head, and moved it toward me. I think we were about the same height before; her hand stopped right around my nose.
”Hmm, I can see why Mama was tempted,” she whispered, her tone laced with aristocratic condescension.
She whispered the last phrase into my ear, stretching up on her tiptoes. I remembered now; Doris is the daughter of Professor Lizabel, an investigative specialist at the Academy. Thanks to that, I have a past where I ended up fleeing the professor’s house naked and became the laughingstock of the town.
”Hey, why don’t you come to my place? Papa is there too,” she suggested with an elegant smirk.
What part of going to meet Professor Lizabel’s husband sounds fun?
”It’ll be fine. Papa is the Superintendent of the military police here; he’ll be useful in more ways than one,” she added, her voice chillingly procedural yet refined.
So that’s it. That explains why the military police were acting so strange.
”If you don’t come, I’ll tell Papa about Mama,” she threatened, her voice a sharp, aristocratic whisper.
Again, she stretched up and whispered into my ear. If it’s a secret she doesn’t want known, she could just use telepathy, yet she’s intentionally playing a dangerous game.
’What’s your goal?’ I demanded.
I can’t keep up with her games. I pinched her wrist with my fingers and switched to telepathy.
’I broke up with him when I graduated. Around here, everyone is too afraid of my Papa to play with me.’
’Well, if you had any sense, you’d realize what kind of trouble you’d be in if you touched the daughter of the Superintendent of military police.’
’Exactly, so, Larry-san. Let’s play.’
’Why do you think I’d play with you? I know exactly what kind of trouble that leads to.’
’It’s okay. After all, Larry-san, you’re an even bigger shot than Papa, aren’t you?’
’A big shot? Don’t be ridiculous. Just a moment ago, one of those military police officers called me “you.” And he uses honorifics with the hospital director, too.’
’That can’t be helped. Even now, the director comes to our house for meals. I was surprised at first, but if the opponent is an Elf Mage, half-siblings won’t be made, so I just thought, oh well.’
Well, you can’t create Children with Humans and Elf Mages, after all. No, that’s not what I meant. So that’s how it is.
If her Papa and Chulpan are together, the military police’s attitude makes some sense, but they should still show me respect.
’I’m sure he’ll come by tonight, so, come on, let’s go to my house.’
”Hey, it’s time to head back,” the Master called out, his tone neutral and standard.
Right on cue, the Master called out to me.
”That’s right. Well, Doris-san. Good luck,” I told her, my voice standard and polite.
I told her out loud, and she left with a face that looked incredibly annoyed.
”Hey,” the military police officer barked, his voice sharp and procedural.
I was called over by that military police officer.
”What?” I asked, keeping my tone neutral.
”Where are you planning on staying?” he demanded, his voice rigid.
”Well, the carriage is the only option, right? I don’t know when Thomas will return from the hospital,” I answered.
Tonight is my turn to sleep in the cargo hold, so I can sleep soundly.
”Hey, can you at least consider the trouble you’re causing us?” he snapped, his voice rough and confrontational.
He says it in a terribly unpleasant way.
”Why? I’m sleeping in my own place, so it should be fine,” I countered neutrally.
”That’s not what I mean. If you, who could cause a problem at any moment, sleep in the carriage, more trouble might arise, right? Can’t you at least try to see things from our perspective?” the officer grunted, his speech clipped and military.
”So you’re saying I should just head outside now? It’s already night,” I reasoned.
”I didn’t say that. The former Lord’s, or rather, the Bishop’s mansion here, has been converted into lodging. Sleep there tonight. Your carriage and its crew will be delivered later,” he commanded.
That attitude, I really hate it.
”Marshal Yan and Chief of Staff Helbert are coming tomorrow night, so make sure you keep your schedule clear,” he added with procedural coldness.
”No thanks. I don’t want to cause any trouble. I’m going back to the Grand Principality tomorrow morning. I’ve already met Thomas, so there’s no need for me to meet them,” I refused firmly.
”You, enough already,” the officer growled, his voice taking on a confrontational, street-rough edge.
He finally resorted to calling me “you.”
The only people I allow to speak to me like that are Kenze, Pamela, Marie, and Nico. However, this military police officer is likely speaking in Larland-accented Rus, so the meaning of these words hasn’t reached the Master.
I want to tell him to knock it off, but I hold it back with all my might.
”Why? It doesn’t matter even if such big shots come, does it?” I asked, my voice remaining neutral.
”Don’t screw around. They’re obviously coming to hold talks with you,” the officer spat, his tone aggressive.
”I haven’t heard anything about that.”
However, it might actually be better to meet those two.
The military police officer has a face like he just bit into a bitter bug. Can’t be helped.
”Tch, fine, lead the way to that lodging,” I conceded.
I was taken to a house that appeared to have been a former church converted into a residence, not a Gothic-style church, but one with a heavy, Romanesque feel. The room I was shown to was like a suite, with a bedroom separate from a large living room. Kenze and the others were brought over with the carriage immediately.
”Well, we’re going to sleep first,” the Master announced, his voice standard and flat.
The Master took Olga and disappeared into the bedroom without delay.
The ones left behind were me, Kenze, and little Elena. Kenze is signaling something with her eyes, but I don’t understand the meaning.
”Elena, are you going to sleep on the sofa over there? It’s warm because of the Tiled stove, so is one blanket enough?” I asked, my voice soft and neutral.
”I dun wanna! It’s too scary!” Elena chirped, her voice simple and innocent.
”You don’t have to be so considerate, when Mama is exercising with a man for work, I sleep next to them, so if you uncles are going to do it, it’s fine,” Elena continued, her tone innocent and repetitive.
Oh, is that so.
Still, I’d like you to stop calling me uncle. There’s only one sofa in this living room where I can lie down, so I was just letting you have it. I wasn’t planning on doing anything erotic. Well, since you’re kind enough to say so, I’ll take you up on your offer.
Watching Elena take one of the blankets stacked on the stand and wrap herself up on the sofa, I take Kenze’s hand.
”It’s been a while since we’ve done this in such a proper place,” I whispered neutrally.
”Even though it’s on the carpet,” she murmured, her voice steady and neutral.
Just as our lips met, there was a knock at the door. I had no choice but to open it, and Pamela came in.
”Looks like I made it in time,” Pamela said, her voice standard and neutral.
”Did you come to cut in? I’m not yielding,” I said, my tone neutral.
Waiting for the door to close, Pamela hugged me. Seeing that, Kenze gets into a bad mood.
”That’s not it. I’ve been waiting for two months. Kenze, don’t you think it’s only right for the Master to yield?” Pamela asked, her tone neutral.
Unable to argue with that, Kenze sticks out her lower lip to express her dissatisfaction.
”Can’t be helped, Pamela can go first,” Kenze pouted, her voice neutral.
”Hmm, but after her, I’m next,” Pamela asserted neutrally.
”Then, after that, I’ll take him once more,” Kenze added, her voice flat.
Even with young bodies, there’s a limit to these things.
”Then, let’s begin,” Pamela decided, her voice neutral.
I was licking tongues with Pamela while standing when Kenze hugged me from behind and rubbed her body against me. Pamela seemed to notice, but she hugged me tightly as well. While feeling stifled, in order to enjoy the skin of the loli Elf Mage, I slipped my hand under the hem of her underwear, moved my palm up and down on her bare skin, and then moved it to her side while performing Mana Control.
”It’s been a while, so be gentle,” Pamela whispered, her voice neutral.
”Will you be satisfied with that?” I asked.
Moving my palm from her side to her chest, I pinched her already hardened n**ples with my fingers. Firmly.
”Stop, I said to be gentl—ah!” Pamela gasped, her voice cut off.
In the middle of her words, I channeled Mana from my thumb into the n**ple I was pinching and absorbed it with my index finger. A strong stimulation flowed through, and Pamela’s words were cut off.
’Do you hate it?’
”You, damn it,” Pamela hissed, her voice neutral.
This time, I let my tongue crawl up her neck and then sent Mana from her n**ple to my tongue. Despite saying that roughness is bad, whenever Pamela receives strong stimulation from Mana, her sense of anticipation and sexual ecstasy explode.
My Mana raced through Pamela’s body, which had become sensitive from anticipation, and her loud moans echoed in the room where little Elena was. Reacting to the voice, Kenze stripped off my trousers and underwear from behind.
”You guys take yours off too,” I commanded, my voice neutral.
It cools the mood that had once risen, but well, it looks like it’s going to be a long night. The red light from the Tiled stove is flickering and projecting onto the skin of the three of us who have become completely naked.
When I knelt, without me having to point to my crotch, Pamela went down on all fours and smoothly took it into her mouth. Covered in a warm, moist sensation, the stimulation of her tongue felt good, but as I let my guard down, she channeled Mana from behind my balls toward the glans. I was holding back from finishing, and Kenze stood next to me, so I pulled her close, buried my face in her firm, resilient breasts, and inserted my fingers from behind into her hole, which was narrow like a virgin’s.
Unable to hold back, I immediately pushed Pamela down and entered her. While Kenze inserted her tongue into Pamela’s mouth as she gasped with her mouth half-open, she began to play with her own breasts with one hand and Pamela’s with the other, then Pamela reached out to Kenze’s crotch.
My thought circuits gradually began to go numb.
Roughly, we devoured each other’s lusts as the three of us wished. For Pamela, who is sensitive to Mana, I channeled Mana to make her faint many times, and for Kenze, who is dull to Mana, I pulled her hair, slapped her buttocks until they turned red, strangled her neck until she passed out, and even when the two of them were drained and like ragdolls, I continued to penetrate them with my p**is.
The next morning, Elena’s eyes were bloodshot.
