Volume 4 Chapter 87 Jealousy
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Her family home was in a quiet living area north of Himeji Castle—a World Heritage site.
”Go home!”
Just as expected, her father slammed the door in our faces.
But neither I nor the real Larry could afford to give up here. I needed to summon Henrietta. And he needed to tear Henrietta—the cause of his daughter’s developmental problem—away from his eldest daughter.
Even as we were yelled at, we kept pressing the intercom and banging on the door. Eventually, whether because a neighbor had called them or not, the police showed up.
”We understand your situation, sir. But it’s already night. Why don’t you come back tomorrow?”
At that, her father finally came out—but his manner was wild, as if he might hit out at any moment. In contrast, the real Larry, who’d already handed over his business card and said where he worked, seemed to earn a somewhat favorable reaction from the officers. They suggested a compromise, but we had no time to waste.
”We must speak with your eldest daughter before her appointment tomorrow.”
Under normal circumstances, such an explanation would be hard to accept—but there was a force in the words that pushed the officers back. As the three parties talked in the street in front of the house, the door opened, and the girl in question—Kokoa—appeared with her mother.
(Call her Henrietta.)
I didn’t know whether the current personality living in that girl was the original child or Henrietta—or which one was in control. But desperate, I signaled the real Larry to call her Henrietta. Though confused, he spoke quietly, addressing my daughter as “Henrietta.”
”Larry!!”
The girl cried out our names in a loud voice. Her father, her mother, the police officers—all froze at the sound, far too strong and clear for a two-year-old.
”Larry! Larry!”
The small girl cried out once more, then as if knowing fate, crumpled her face and ran toward us. I bent to her height, opened my arms wide, and held her—and in that moment, the area was flooded with light as bright as noon.
Right after, Henrietta’s mind swelled to its peak inside me—then just as quickly squeezed and faded away somewhere.
When I came to, I was lying in the center of Mother Mushroom.
”Success,” Professor Lilith said.
Looking around, I saw Pamela holding the baby, beaming with joy. But moments later, the baby began to cry.
”Quickly—call the wet nurse,” Professor Lilith ordered.
Why—why was Henrietta crying like a normal baby, even though she’d been called into that body?
When I asked the professor, she explained that a baby’s brain isn’t fully grown yet, so even after summoning, a personality can’t simply take root right away. With other animals—mice, for instance—the brain is simpler, so they become stable fairly quickly. But creatures with understanding like a human two- or three-year-old—cats, dogs, pigs—take months. For humans, becoming stable takes at least two years.
”As a full person, personality returns to normal around age twelve, I’d say.”
That made sense. In my past life, when I’d heard about psychiatric development, I remembered something about children’s neurons forming too many dendritic connections during growth stages, only to be cut back—sometimes even the neurons themselves moving. After that process, the brain becomes stable, though growth continues until the early twenties.
Still—twelve years. No, no, no.
”If her personality won’t return until she’s twelve, what are we supposed to do until then?”
”Personality is always changing. But it’s fine—we can transfer her around age seven.”
Wait—we have to wait until she’s seven?
”What’s with that face? Were you planning to stick your d**k in a newborn or something?”
Ridiculous. My perversions haven’t sunk that low.
”I’m joking. I’ll look after her here until she’s seven. There’s no better research subject than this.”
She made it sound like I’d handed her a lab animal—which was a bit worrying. Still, the offer to take her in was a relief.
Just then, a maid entered and began nursing the baby. Henrietta quietly took the n**ple.
One question remained.
”Excuse me—when Henrietta was living off me, we could talk telepathically. Why, after being called, does her brain need to grow before talking is possible?”
The answer: during that time, she was just borrowing a short-term body—her soul was only using part of the brain’s functions. That was the only way to make sense of it.
”Well then, let’s pack up. Larry-kun, stop showing off that tiny thing of yours and get moving.”
At the professor’s words, we began moving equipment out of Mother Mushroom. Still—”tiny thing” really hurts, you know?
We returned once to Androgynos Group’s capital. The equipment carriers headed to the research institute where I’d been interviewed before. The professor took Henrietta to her own Colony. We followed along.
Her Colony was on gentle rolling hills, and to the south, a beautiful lone peak—like Mount Fuji—was visible.
”Right next door is my sister’s Colony. We work together growing mainly potatoes—and we do brewing too. You’re staying the night, right? Drink up before you go.”
Since we had the chance, we gladly accepted her welcome. As we talked further, I learned that her sister did most of the housework—her main job was being a professor. Since they were farmers, they had plenty of maids, so there’d be no shortage of wet nurses for Henrietta. She also said she had an heir—a child who’d just come out of its chrysalis—so they could raise them together.
That night, the professor, her heir, and her sister’s family all gathered for a drinking party. And then—midway through—who should show up but a messy-haired Rao.
Apparently, she and the professor had been drinking friends for some time.
”Hey, thanks to you, I’ve made a fortune!”
It seemed they’d succeeded in mass-producing the round mana pentamers—selling like crazy not just at home but especially in the Amazoness’s Dragon God’s Country—and production couldn’t keep up. Since I’d given them the hint, well…
”Then cut me in for a share, won’t you?”
I said it mostly as a joke.
”Cash hasn’t really come in yet—I can only give you about one kin of gold.”1
The exchange rate for gold was the same as in Amazoness area—changing to Schweilitz gold coins, that was two hundred fifty—or about twenty-five million yen.
”If you’re offering, I’ll take whatever I can get.”
I was tipsy, still half-joking.
”Then it’s a deal.”
Rao’s face was dead serious.
Wait—she was serious?
”Isn’t that too cheap?” Professor Lilith spoke up.
”Then—is there anything else you want?”
I’d thought it was just drunken talk, but apparently she meant every word. Even so—I couldn’t think of anything on the spot.
”Well then—why not take one of Rao’s children?”
That crazy suggestion came from the professor’s sister.
”Kio—the younger one. She’s already seven, and this guy can handle the Amazoness in mating season, so it’s fine—marry her off.”
What was she even saying? “It’s fine”—what does that mean? If I went along with that, Captain Fredys would definitely yell at me for bringing a new woman on board and breaking order. Then again—Androgynos are hermaphrodites. Not exactly women—so maybe I’d be safe? No, that’s not how it works.
”Don’t say such careless things,” the professor said, stopping her sister.
But that gave me an idea.
”Earlier—when we first visited Rao, there were two maids called from dogs, weren’t there? How old are they?”
”Five or six, I think.”
Since their base was dog-like, they grew up faster, apparently.
”Then—they should live another ten years or so, right?”
”I guess about that long. You want them?”
Rao looked a bit troubled as she answered. I explained that I needed wet nurses for Kenze’s child.
Kenze had been unwell even before we arrived, losing weight. When I’d asked about it at the Amazoness Viscount’s Palace, I was told it was nursing tiredness—and told to hire a wet nurse.
”Well—I guess those two would do. But I’ll buy you proper ones tomorrow.”
Rao’s words met with nods from the others. Was she going to hold a sale—like when I’d bought Kenze? The thought made me a little uneasy.
As the drinking grew more wild and dirty, I left. Pamela followed.
”What do you think you’re doing?”
I turned and grabbed Pamela’s cheeks, pulling them apart. Her eyes went wide with surprise.
”Seriously—what was with that forced e**culation earlier?”
Ever since we’d arrived in Androgynos Group area, her attitude had been bothering me. I began reading her mind.
”Thou shouldst not read a maiden’s heart without permission!”
She spoke telepathically—her cheeks being stretched made proper speech impossible.
”What—were you jealous?”
Apparently, she’d been jealous of how close I’d gotten with the Queen of the Amazons.
”I’m not jealous! It just pissed me off—seeing you getting all lovey-dovey with the Queen on the day we were supposed to summon Henrietta! Henrietta—my former master—is thy fourth wife, isn’t she?! Hast thou no shame?!”
She made her protest via telepathy—but her true feelings were quite different.
Yes, she had been jealous of the Queen. But what had really scared her was Henrietta’s return. Pamela had spent the longest time by my side among all the women—Kenze came second. And Pamela had been Henrietta’s slave.
If Henrietta returned, Pamela would fall back into her slavery—and lose the place she currently had beside me. That fear was what had driven her to act out, like a schoolkid pulling the pigtails of the girl he liked. I wanted to call her out on that—but she wasn’t a child. She was a handful.
”Idiot.”
I flicked her forehead and decided to forgive her. If I’d had mind-reading in my past life, the real Larry might have had it easier too—the thought made me laugh a little.
The next day, I went with Rao—who’d also stayed overnight at Professor Lilith’s—to the capital, where we booked our previous inn for a week, then used the Transfer Gate to move to the trading city of Takere.
Takere was as busy as before. The Transfer Gate station was on a hill, and from there you walked down toward the harbor. Despite the fact that news of the Whale Eater should have reached them via the Gate, the crowds were thick.
According to Rao, ships that had come for trade were stuck because of the Whale Eater—that’s why so many people were still around.
”Does this happen often?”
”Once every few years. And the tooth whales are about to move south, so this time they have some room.”
She spoke in a fairly relaxed tone. But the Whale Eater had attacked the Seeding Fleet and eaten many people.
”This way.”
Rao led me into a shopping street. On both sides were shops selling food and clothing—and sometimes jewelry.
”Here.”
Even without Rao’s signal, it was obvious this was a slave—no, a maid shop. Iron cages lined the storefront, each showing a naked Androgynos—likely a maid—one by one, continuing inside. Each cage had a plate hanging on it, covered in small writing and what appeared to be large numbers—the price.
”That’s the spec sheet and price.”
”Spec sheet?”
It sounded like a PC.
”First, the animal they were called from—that’s the biggest thing in price. Whales are most expensive—they live the longest. Next, the control systems put in place—basically contraceptive programs, mana restrictions, that sort of thing. Then obedience controls, and so on.”
The prices were set, though they’d hear bargaining—but Rao told me they rarely moved. Still, every Androgynos had a nice-looking face and fairly large breasts. If it weren’t for what hung between their legs, I’d want to buy them all up—they were that sexy.
”Then I’ll take that one—and the one next to it.”
Rao made the call without even asking me. Two of them. One was originally a boar, the other a dog. For wet nurse purposes—keeping them on a ship like mine—you always bought a backup, making sure the summoning animals were different.
”What’ll you do? Take them as they are—or put something on them? That’s a choice, but it costs extra.”
The collars, chains, and combat sandals were included—clothes were separate. I didn’t have the nerve to walk around with them naked, so I bought the cheapest tunics—on my money. When the payment was done, the last step was to mark me as their master.
A paper slip had various things written on it, and I signed at the bottom. The slip was placed in a basket; a spirit stuck to it, and the mana control symbols disappeared. Then, with the spirit still in the basket, they brought it close to the maid’s neck—the spirit spun quickly and vanished. I had no idea what had just happened, but the two of them knelt on one knee before me and bowed.
”Please give them names.”
At the shopkeeper’s suggestion, I named them Lamu and Tete—after the royal capitals of Nyunpai Kingdom and the Kingdom of Kush. I couldn’t think of anything better.
”Well then—I’m off to have fun, so we part here. When your ship arrives, I’ll bring the money.”
With that, Rao disappeared quickly. Pamela and I took Lamu and Tete back to the capital—only to be charged an extra fee for the maids at the inn.
They did work hard, these two. But of course, we had to feed them. And there was a bigger problem: they were programmed as wet nurses, so as soon as their breasts swelled, they’d wave their arms wildly.
Food wasn’t the issue with the extra charge—the milk was. Pamela let them suckle, and they suckled each other, but once—just once—I joined in too. When I touched them, their breasts were firm like Kenze’s. When I took a n**ple in my mouth, milk sprayed into my mouth like a shower—rich enough that it seemed like it could fill me up.
A week passed at the inn. From here on, we’d wait in Takere. The four of us were heading to the station when a huge crowd came streaming out—some barely dressed, others holding bags and belongings desperately. In times like this, not speaking the language was a real problem.
We had no choice—we had to head for the Transfer Gate station.

Summary:
Larry and the real Larry successfully summon Henrietta from Kokoa’s body into a newborn baby, causing a bright flash of light. Professor Lilith explains that the baby’s brain will take years to become stable, with Henrietta’s personality not fully returning until around age twelve. During a drinking party at the professor’s Colony, Rao talks about her profitable mana pentamer business and finally agrees to buy two maids as wet nurses for Kenze’s child.
—
Trivia:
Larry’s fourth wife is Henrietta, who has now been successfully called into a newborn body.
Pamela was originally Henrietta’s slave and fears losing her place beside Larry if Henrietta’s personality fully returns.
Henrietta’s mind previously lived in Kokoa, the two-year-old daughter of the real Larry.
The round mana pentamers were mass-produced based on Larry’s hint and are selling especially well in Amazoness area.
Pamela experienced forced e**culation from Larry before this chapter, which she resented.
The Amazoness Viscount’s Palace said Kenze had nursing tiredness and suggested hiring a wet nurse.
Rao agreed to buy two wet nurses for Larry, one originally called from a boar and one from a dog.
Larry named the two maids Lamu and Tete after the royal capitals of Nyunpai Kingdom and Kingdom of Kush.
The maids were programmed as wet nurses and began producing milk right away when their breasts swelled.
Professor Lilith has a sister whose Colony is next to hers; they farm potatoes and make alcohol together.
Professor Lilith has an heir who recently came out of its chrysalis and will help raise Henrietta.
The Tooth Whales are about to move south, which is why the Whale Eater situation has some room for error.
The Transfer Gate in Takere is on a hill, and from there you walk down toward the harbor.
Larry was charged an extra fee at the inn for bringing the two maids.
The slave market cages each have a spec sheet with detailed small writing and large numbers for the price.
