First!

Second!

How’s District 13 High doing with college admissions this year?
Anyone know how many are getting into Imperial U or Old Capital U?
0005 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
I’m honestly more curious where that one group is ending up.
0006 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
We’re not even ten posts in and somebody’s already stirring the pot. Smells like self-promo.
0007 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
They’re the strongest group by a mile, so of course people care.
Not much else worth talking about, honestly.
0008 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
So how stacked are this year’s graduating classes?
0009 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Two Five-Cards (elite five-member groups where all five reached the highest benchmark).
Three Four-Cards (groups with four top-tier members and one just below).
No Jokers (no Teacher-class prodigies).
Four Subsets (oversized Majin-led groups with extra elite members).
0010 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
>>0009
Only two Five-Cards?
That’s a pretty weak crop.
Imperial and Old Capital usually get double digits.
0011 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
The talent pool’s just different out here than it is in the Capital.
(Not that anyone wants to talk about the percentages.)
0012 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
So… the ratios are kinda rough?
0013 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Most of this year’s top groups are planning to distance themselves from sorcery after graduation, so the percentage heading into Tower Dungeons (government-run endgame dungeons for career sorcerers) is higher than it’s ever been.
Looks like that’ll keep dragging us down for a while.
That said, there are still plenty aiming for med school, Imperial U, or other top academic programs.
0014 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
So where’s that group going?
0015 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Old Capital U.
Totals are 3 to Old Capital, 2 to Imperial, and 4 to Water Capital.
Those are this year’s heavy hitters.
Looks like just over 40% are staying at colleges inside District 13.
0016 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Old Capital and Water Capital are still the popular picks, huh?
0017 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
As far as sorcery goes, Old Capital has more prestige than Imperial.
Water Capital’s the home of the Duty-Bound theorists (followers of the ultra-conservative “Duty-Bound” combat philosophy).
Plus it’s a lot closer to District 13.
0018 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
A lot of District 13 families have had ties to Old Capital or Water Capital for generations.
The eldest sons usually head there.
0019 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Second sons are FREEEEEE!!!
0020 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Second sons rule!!
0021 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Second sons are the strongest!!
0022 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Ah yes, here comes the “Second Son Supremacy” crowd (the running joke that second sons have the better life because they don’t inherit the family).
As if any little brother could ever beat his big brother.
0023 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Second sons all end up heading West!! (i.e. becoming monks)
0024 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
>>0023
That meme only makes sense here in District 13.
0025 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
How’s First High looking?
Who’s on top this year, 13-1 (District 13 First High) or 13-2 (District 13 Second High)?
0026 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
13-2, easily.
0027 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
13-2.
0028 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
No contest. The New Second.
0029 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Second High struggled for a long time, but they’ve really turned things around these past few years.
Guess brand-new facilities really do attract better students.
0030 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Makes sense.
Anybody would rather go somewhere with the latest equipment than some run-down old campus.
0031 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Have fun at your shiny new school.
0032 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
>>0031
Found the 13-2 student.
0033 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
You kids should be in bed already.
0034 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
What’s the situation with the Leashed (ordinary students sponsored by sorcerers) this year?
0035 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
There’s a decent number at both 13-1 and 13-2.
Some are even applying to Imperial and Old Capital.
0036 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Imperial and Old Capital are seriously amazing~~
0037 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Guess it’s time for somebody to post the usual glossary again.
0038 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
If you flunk your entrance exams, you drag your sorcerer sponsor’s name through the mud.
Especially for Old Capital—that place is strictly for the elite.
0039 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Lurk more, newbie.
0040 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
・Group rankings
Five-Card — A five-person group where all five members have reached the Three-Limit (the highest standard benchmark).
Four-Card — Four members have reached the Three-Limit, while the fifth has achieved a Double Breakthrough (one tier below).
Full House — Three members have reached the Three-Limit, and the remaining two have Double Breakthroughs.
Joker — A Teacher-class monster. Getting a Teacher to acknowledge your strength (“tagging” them) takes someone who’s either a legendary hero… or completely insane.
Subset — An oversized group of six or more Strong-Females (elite female members) serving under a Majin (an overwhelmingly powerful sorcerer).
It’s common for a Majin who participates in exchange matches against private schools during their second year to poach the rival group’s lead Strong-Female, absorbing the entire group into their own.
Also called “Funnels.”
・Second Son
The younger son of a sorcerer family.
Unlike the eldest son, who inherits the family, the second son has little authority—but much more freedom.
The tongue-in-cheek belief that this makes second sons inherently superior is known as “Second Son Supremacy.”
In reality, they receive far less financial and political support from their families, so they’re often stuck in an awkward middle ground.
The meme started after one particularly loud second son kept bragging on this board.
These days, it’s also used to poke fun at Strong-Males who are always getting themselves into trouble, or just to troll people.
・13-1 / 13-2
District 13’s First and Second High Schools.
The district’s two highest-ranked public high schools, and longtime rivals.
First High is the older, more traditional school.
Second High is newer, built to handle the growing student population.
People also call them “Old First” and “New Second.”
・Leashed
Ordinary students who receive sponsorship from a sorcerer to enter sorcery-related programs.
Also called “Collared.”
・Heading West
A joking way of saying someone became a monk.
・Duty-Bound Theorists
Followers of the Duty-Bound philosophy.
They believe overwhelming firepower and overwhelming durability are the answer to everything—crush every Aberration head-on and guide the ignorant by force.
0041 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
>>0040
Thanks.
0042 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
>>0040
Appreciate it.
0043 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
>>0040
I-It’s not like I wanted to thank you or anything!
0044 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Anyway, back to the Leashed.
I heard the really talented ones get recruited as early as freshman year.
0045 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Not really.
Just because someone’s gifted as a freshman doesn’t mean they’ll still stand out by graduation.
0046 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
For a sorcerer, it’s enough to recruit a talented ordinary student right before graduation.
For the student, if they finish with top grades, a powerful sorcerer comes looking for them.
Everybody wins.
0047 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
There are exceptions.
Someone who’s ridiculously talented might get offers way earlier.
Or they already have unconditional backing from childhood friends or family connections.
0048 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
For ordinary students, it’s basically the biggest job hunt of their lives.
Everyone’s trying to land the best sponsor they can.
0049 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
When a sorcerer is sizing up an ordinary student…
The student’s sizing up the sorcerer, too.
0050 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Sure…
But the sorcerer still holds all the cards.
0051 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Whatever happened to the Counter-Attack group? (the group that turned on its Strong-Male)
0052 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
They couldn’t meet the graduation requirements.
The Strong-Male basically got pushed through out of pity.
The Strong-Females didn’t get any special treatment, so they’re entering the workforce with only a middle-school education.
0053 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
They worked so hard all the way through senior year…
Too bad their graduation dungeon run fell apart.
0054 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
The first-years are so absurd people forget this, but…
Normally, when a Strong-Male gets counter-attacked, he just ends up becoming a shut-in.
0055 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
A bunch of Strong-Females trying to clear a dungeon by themselves?
That was never going to end well.
0056 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
So what’s life look like for a sorcerer who only graduates middle school?
0057 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
If their family’s rich, they just stay home doing nothing.
Otherwise, they usually end up as disposable dungeon labor.
If they want to avoid that, they have to gamble on some high-risk, high-reward opportunity.
0058 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
There are backdoor options, too.
Risk your life exploring dangerous dungeons around Imperial or Old Capital, or just leave the country.
A tiny handful manage to turn things around because they literally have nothing left to lose.
0059 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Pretty brutal for people who drop out.
Really shows how messed up this country can be.
0060 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Honestly, this country’s pretty merciful.
Even after getting counter-attacked, you’re still allowed to make it to senior year and choose a normal career path.
In some countries, when Strong-Females counter-attack, the usual outcome is they disappear…
Then somebody finds the body later.
0061 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Why counter-attack if you know you’re probably going to die?
0062 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Probably just pure hatred.
Like, “I’m taking one last swing before I go.”
Honestly, just having the chance to counter-attack is a luxury.
Go spend some time in a country where Strong-Males have zero sense of responsibility and see how they treat Strong-Females and ordinary people.
You’ll come back with a whole new perspective.
The only reason our ordinary citizens can safely do business overseas is because everyone knows our sorcerers will retaliate if anything happens to them.
Being a sorcery superpower has its perks.
0063 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Doesn’t help that more enemy operatives have been sneaking into the country lately.
It’s rough being a Strong-Male, too.
0064 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
With all the privileges they get?
Yeah, they can do their jobs.
0065 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Classic feudal deal.
Loyalty in exchange for protection.
Honestly, it’s worked pretty well.
0066 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Thread’s getting off track.
Take the “what makes a good sorcerer” debate somewhere else.
Let’s get back to college admissions.
0067 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Alright then…
Let’s rank District 13’s colleges.
0068 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
Oh boy, here we go.
This thread’s about to explode.
0069 Anonymous Student@National High School Student
This is exactly why somebody should’ve just posted the glossary at the start.

Summary:
Students on the 13th District board discuss upcoming university applications and career prospects while debating the social standing of various student groups. The conversation highlights the rigid hierarchy between sorcerers and plain-folk, punctuated by memes and dark rumors about graduation requirements. Tension remains high regarding the fates of those who fail to meet strict academic and dungeon-clearing standards.
—
Trivia:
1 The 13th District board culture includes specific memes like “Second Son Supremacy” and “Western-bound.”
2 “Leashed” or “Collared” students are plain-folk who secure sponsorships from sorcerers to enter sorcery-related fields.
3 The distinction between “Old 1st” and “New 2nd” high schools reflects the history of population growth in the district.
4 Graduation for sorcerers often requires successful dungeon completion, and failure carries severe social and academic consequences.
