Dungeon exploration and exchange event with new second-years went smooth.
One item remained—Exchange Battle with Manaka’s group—and that too went without hitch.
Foundation was joint training at Onigahara Dojo — essentially same thing they’d been doing since junior high.

While watching matches, Minoru chatted with Manaka. During breaks, they started talking about school and dungeon progress.
”Is Manaka’s group making good progress with dungeon exploration?” Minoru asked.
”Yes,” Manaka replied, her voice carrying that aristocratic tone. “We shall have no trouble achieving this semester’s objectives.”
”The dungeon you’re tackling now is Shiramine, right?”
”Yes.”
There were several dungeons across country called Shiramine. The Shiramine Dungeon in 13th District matched Kinpira Palace in age. It had a two-layer structure — surface and deep — certified as D-rank and C-rank. Since Kinpira Palace had three layers and was bigger, it was sometimes called “Little Kinpira Palace” around here.
”It’s a dungeon we can’t avoid if we want to be recognized for our abilities within the family. Same goes for you, right, Minoru?” Manaka said.
”Yeah.”
Apparently, Kuga sorcerers only gained a say in family matters after exploring depths of both Shiramine Dungeon and Kinpira Palace. Manaka was now doing that “right-to-speak challenge.”
In sorcerer families, many required conquering specific dungeons for succession. Minoru’s own family, Tatemiya estate, required exploring Kinpira Palace’s deepest layer. For Yui and Yuu’s family, Futami household, they had to clear a dungeon modeled after a ravine called Kankakei.
System designed to keep powerful sorcerers in family. Those who failed — even eldest son — were cast aside, and a sorcerer among siblings or relatives who could would become Head of the House.
”My family requires Onigashima conquest to become Head,” Manaka explained, her aristocratic composure intact. “My big brother’s in the middle of hellish training for it right now.”
Onigashima Dungeon was on island they visited last summer. Pretty small dungeon with only ten floors, but modeled after demon fortress full of oni, with B-rank difficulty rating.
Now, with Tower Dungeon faction growing, more families were dropping old-fashioned rules and changing with times. But their families stayed stuck in old ways.
Smart move was for Minoru’s group to keep pushing Kinpira Palace while Manaka’s group tackled Shiramine Dungeon, then team up a year later with Manaka’s companions starting from floor Minoru reached. When Initial Strong-Female configurations assigned, people meant to conquer same dungeons tended to group up.
”I’ll handle the Kinpira Palace exploration,” Minoru said. “The deep-level exploration will probably be much further down the line.”
”I shall be counting on you,” Manaka replied.
Just as their talk wound down, match ended and Risa’s group of four came back.
This time, Risa’s team won because she took down Miku without letting her get close. Victory from slowly learning to counter those invisible kicks.
”Minoru! Did you see that?” Risa called out.
”Yeah, I saw. Good work,” Minoru replied.
Risa flashed a V-sign while Miku beside her looked frustrated.
Seeing their faces, Minoru noticed something.
”Miku’s face looks slimmer than usual,” he observed.

Sawa approached, wiping sweat with a towel, and started talking to Manaka.
”Manaka, wanna do a two-on-two with Yui and the others soon?” Sawa asked.
”No… it’s still too early,” Manaka replied, her aristocratic tone measured. “Let us save that for the second semester onward.”
”Got it. I’ll follow Manaka’s lead,” Sawa said.
”…It’s about time,” Manaka continued. “Let’s wrap up with a few more matches within the group. Minoru, is that okay with you?”
”Yeah,” Minoru agreed.
After matches between Chifumi and Mitsuki, Sawa and Yui, and a few others, today’s training ended.
”Well, I’m heading to the shower first~” Chifumi said.
”Alright,” Minoru replied. “As usual, Chifumi and I will evaluate everyone and finalize the next schedule before we go.”
Chifumi and others filed out of Onigahara Dojo. Girls went first to wash off sweat in main house’s bath.

They dropped their sorcery, left changing room, and walked toward Onigahara main house.

Without moving his head, he glanced at Manaka beside him.
They were exploring eighteenth floor. Seven floors remained until boss floor. Twenty-four seasonal floors for winter still ahead.
Manaka also kept her face still, gaze fixed forward.
”The late stages should be fine,” she said, “but I think the early and middle stages will be difficult battles.”
”Yeah,” Minoru agreed. “…I’m sure with you around, everything would be solved.”
”Yes,” Manaka affirmed without hesitation. “If Yui and I coordinate through Warifu, I believe we’d have it covered.”
Not from arrogance — she was just stating facts calmly. Kuga family had strong ties to Kinpira Palace. Minoru believed there was reason behind her confidence.
”Thanks,” Minoru said. “But first, let us try it on our own. If it looks too tough, I’ll ask for your help then.”
”Understood,” Manaka replied.
Having guessed he’d respond this way, Manaka backed off without getting upset.
”Well then,” she said, “I’ll head to the bath.”
”I’ll wait in the living room,” Minoru replied. “Call me when you’re done.”
”Yes. Excuse me for going ahead,” Manaka said.
Minoru entered the living room alone.
”Welcome back~” Chifumi called out.
Inside, Chifumi and others were already cleaned up and refueling.
Minoru joined them, went over today’s training results, and talked about his and Manaka’s evaluations along with future schedule.
That was the basic flow of the Exchange Battle.

• N – A student from East Middle with an eccentric personality who entered National High School due to complex family circumstances and used herself as leverage to negotiate a protective agreement for K.

• Sawa – Voluptuous, broad-framed yet recently slimmed-down, this confident, bespectacled Nieda student and game otaku is an IT-savvy Shisei member and core strategist in Manaka and Mitsuki’s circles. An upper-middle tier green-manipulation sorcerer who uses a hoe, sickle, and scissors, she controls security. She is a competitive Onibara disciple who bluntly complains to her childhood friend Minoru.
• Chifumi – Eldest daughter of the Takino residence, this 160cm, J-cup kimono-clad sorcerer is Minoru’s childhood friend, Lead Majo, and trusted partner. Sporting a long brown side-tail, her bright, casual personality bridges his group with Manaka’s companions. Wielding a staff with flowing ice/water magic, she manages household admin and rearguard combat while secretly protecting him from the truth.
