Chapter 144 The Man Who Saw What Should Never Be Seen

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

In the end, it felt like I kept having sex with Reika until dawn. Her entire body was stained with my semen, and her vaginal opening—where I had come many times—was in quite a state.

Because I had continued to ravage her with my rod so relentlessly, the hole had reached a point where it wouldn’t even close.

Seeing her like that filled me with immense desire. We fell asleep right there on the tatami mats by the open-air bath, but when the sun rose, we washed each other’s bodies, had one last round, washed again, and finally left the bath area.

I thought about focusing my gaze to check her status and see how much her Magic Power¹ had increased, but then I remembered that a Magical Girl’s status can’t be seen unless she is transformed.

Well, according to Ami-chan, the maximum Magic Power increase from an internal release is supposed to be slight. I can only hope that after a continuous marathon of finishing inside her until morning, it has gone up at least a little.

And so, leaving the Dominion² to everyone else, I am finally taking Reika with me to Japan.

By the time we return to the Dominion in three days, the north farm should be ready for harvest. I’ll look forward to that….

 ■

(Whoa, whoa, whoa… what the hell is that…)

I consider myself a man who belongs to the fairly unlucky category. In my youth, my talent was discovered, and I became one of the few wielders of a First-Class Secret Treasure Orb³ in the Holy City.

For someone born in the Holy City, there could be no greater honor.

To begin with, First-Class Secret Treasure Orbs can only be handled by those of the Holy City. No matter how much money is offered, they aren’t sold to other nations.

Every First-Class Secret Treasure Orb possesses extraordinary performance.

A ‘Mind’ type could activate sorcery rivaling a Guru of the Emmeld Kingdom, and a ‘Body’ type could grant physical abilities far superior to the beast-knights of the Egdia Empire.

However, the Secret Treasure Orb I drew power from was a ‘Technique’ type. This was certainly an extraordinary ability as well, but because of it, I ended up belonging to the dark side of the Holy City.

Thanks to that, I’ve taken on my share of dirty work. But the Empire began to sense my existence within the shadows of the Holy City.

They didn’t find me out completely, but they realized there was an ability-user who could hide their presence and started devising countermeasures.

Because of that, I was recalled from the Empire, where I had been lurking, back to my home country.

Well, we can’t afford to have it known—even by chance—that a spy from the Holy City was conducting covert operations in the Empire. If my existence were ever fully grasped, it would lead directly to an international incident.

I thought I might be able to rest for a while, but my boss prepared a new mission for me so I wouldn’t get bored.

I expected the next one to be an infiltration of the Republic, but it was completely different.

”You know that we have conducted searches for the Holy Sword in the Demon Forest several times in the past, right?” my boss asked.

 ”No, I didn’t!” I replied.

”I want you to go to the Demon Forest and find that Holy Sword by all means. Procure your food on-site,” the boss said.

I really am unlucky! Why the hell do I have to go to the Demon Forest right after returning from the Empire?!

And what’s this about a Holy Sword! I mean, I know the fairy tales exist… but there’s no reason for me to be the one searching for it!

But I can’t resist orders. Besides, by activating the unique power ‘Invisible’ from my Secret Treasure Orb, I can turn my entire body, including my clothes, transparent.

The Demon Forest is a dangerous place, but the demon monsters probably won’t be able to find me. The food and the miasma are more troublesome.

Once I entered the Republic, I headed toward the Demon Forest. Turning transparent with my ‘Invisible’ ability, I made my way deep into the woods.

The great thing about this ability is that the weapons I carry also turn transparent. In other words, I could assassinate a head of state or steal classified information at will.

It was because I could draw out such a wonderful First-Class Secret Treasure Orb ability that I was assigned to a secret organization that doesn’t officially exist, even in the Holy City.

Until recently, I was doing infiltration work in the Empire, but I never thought I’d be sent to have a picnic in the Republic instead of being reassigned there….

Come to think of it, I heard that some ‘Heroes’ appeared in the Emmeld Kingdom, so there was a chance I could have been sent to investigate them. Either way, there is no rest for me. I really am unlucky.

Searching this forest won’t yield anything anyway. Why did the adventurers of old go out of their way to enter such dangerous woods…

Actually, if I didn’t have the ‘Invisible’ ability, I think my mind would have broken long ago. It’s pitch black at night, and the anxiety about food is constant.

If I couldn’t turn transparent, I’d also have to endure the fear of demon monsters. I wouldn’t have been able to sleep at night.

Once you go deep enough, the famous demon monster Gardan inhabits the area. If I can somehow hunt that demon monster and bring back a fang or something as a souvenir, my boss will be satisfied. He’ll think I searched deep enough but found nothing.

Besides, my boss probably doesn’t actually think anything will be found in this forest. It’s just a guess, but I think he gave me this mission just to keep my instincts sharp.

Or perhaps it’s to hide my existence from the Empire’s spies who might be lurking in the Holy City. I don’t know the answer even if I think about it.

It was while I was lost in these thoughts that I discovered ‘It.’

(What…? Why…? Deep in the Demon Forest, a castle wall like that…!?)

The Demon Forest is vast. Encountering ‘It’ in such a massive forest must be a miracle.

Or perhaps I really do have an unlucky constitution. Because now that I’ve found it, an investigation is required.

(C-Calm down…! This is definitely the Demon Forest, deep inside…! There’s no way people live in a place like this…!)

However, the wall in front of me is clearly man-made. It’s incredibly magnificent, and it won’t be easy to jump over.

Hiding myself among the trees, I slowly close the distance to the wall.

(The area around the wall is clear, open ground…. There’s a fairly wide moat dug out; this isn’t something built overnight. To have such defenses ready in a land where people don’t go… is it to counter demon monsters?)

Certainly, with that, demon monsters wouldn’t be able to get inside easily.

Now… what should I do…. Should I try getting closer while maintaining my transparency…?

Beyond this point is flat ground. I’m transparent, but if my ability cuts out in an emergency, there’s nowhere to hide.

Well, having to go anyway because of my position is exactly why I’m unlucky.

Just as I thought that and was about to step out from the trees—

 (Huh…?)

A maid was walking atop the castle wall. Why… a maid…?

For now, I put off going onto the open ground and continue observing the wall.

(Are multiple maids patrolling regularly and guarding the surroundings…?)

It makes no sense. And they’re all armed. Why are there armed maids deep in the Demon Forest?!

But this confirmed one thing. Those walls were definitely built by someone and are still being maintained. What kind of person lives in a place like this? And what are they doing? I’m curious about that.

 (…I’m going.)

I move onto the flat ground and close the distance to the wall. The ‘Invisible’ power hides my form, but it can’t erase sounds. I have to make sure I don’t make any footsteps….

 (Hmm…?)

I had walked for a bit when a new maid appeared on the wall.

Every one of the maids had a beautiful appearance, but this maid shone even brighter than the others. Her eyes were closed, giving a calm impression. But in her hand, she gripped a beautifully decorated halberd; she was just as dangerous as the rest.

That maid was staring right at me.

 ”…!?” the spy gasped.

N-No. Calm down…! My form should be invisible…! She shouldn’t be able to see me…!

(But then… why is she looking at me!?)

A few seconds passed, and five armed maids appeared beside the beautiful maid with the halberd. Seeing that, I was certain. They definitely knew I was here.

 ”!” the spy grunted.

I turn around and run back to the forest at full speed. The six maids jump down from the wall and all of them start chasing after me.

(I knew it…! How do they know where I am?! I’m still transparent right now!? And they jumped down from that height!?)

This is bad…! All of them have physical abilities that aren’t human…! If I’m caught, I’ll be killed!

I try turning right midway, but all of them continue to chase me. And finally, I realize the reason why they are able to track me so accurately.

(F-Footprints…! I can’t believe it! They’re looking at the slight depressions in the grass where my feet stepped to follow me…! Even though the grass has hardly grown at all…!)

Just as the maids close in within a few steps, I enter the forest. I climb a tree to avoid stepping on the dirt. The maids all enter the forest as well.

”…Hmm. I was taking group action for caution’s sake… but if the opponent is solely focused on fleeing, perhaps I should have exerted my full strength from the start,” Vectra said.

With that, the maid swings her halberd. Several trees are sliced clean through with a snap.

 (Wa-wa-wa-wa…!)

The tree I was climbing was also cut, so I jump to another tree before falling.

Just as I’m wondering what to do if she keeps cutting the surrounding trees… the lion-headed demon monster Gardan appears.

 (This is bad…!)

The Gardan lets out a roar that disrupts the flow of Magic Power. If that Gardan aims its roar at the maids, it might affect me since I’m close by.

The Secret Treasure Orb’s ability is drawn out via Magic Power. If the flow of my Magic Power is disrupted… my transparency will vanish.

That panic lasted only a few seconds. One of the maids dashed out and killed the Gardan in an instant.

 (Eh…)

A demon monster that a knight order could only defeat by paying a heavy price…! So easily…!? And just one maid did it…!?

None of the other maids say anything about it. They aren’t even impressed. Likely, all of them have the strength to defeat something like a Gardan in their stride.

The maid with the halberd gives instructions to everyone.

”Search this area just in case. I will go inform the consorts that someone who can erase their form may have visited here,” Vectra said.

Ah… I’ve never cursed my unlucky constitution as much as I do today…. I feel like I definitely saw something I was never supposed to see….

If I manage to get back to the Holy City safely… I’ll ask them to let me quit this job, even if I have to live under surveillance for the rest of my life….

 Summary:

The protagonist finishes a long night of intimacy with Reika before preparing to leave for Japan. Meanwhile, an elite spy from the Holy City is sent on a ‘suicide mission’ to the Demon Forest to find a legendary Holy Sword. Utilizing his invisibility, he discovers a massive, man-made fortress guarded by armed maids. He is quickly spotted and chased by Vectra and her squad, who demonstrate terrifying power by one-shotting a high-level monster. Realizing he has stumbled upon a secret far beyond his pay grade, the spy desperately hopes to escape and retire.

 Character Insight:

The Unnamed Spy serves as a perfect ‘outsider’ perspective to highlight the absurdity of the protagonist’s Dominion. Through his eyes, we see that what the protagonist considers ‘normal’ (maids patrolling a forest) is actually a world-class threat to the established global powers. Vectra’s character shows a calm, clinical efficiency, highlighting that she isn’t just a servant but a guardian of incredible martial prowess.

 Behind the Scene:

This chapter shifts the narrative tone temporarily from the protagonist’s domestic/intimate life to a world-building and suspense-oriented perspective. The mention of the ‘Holy City’ and the ‘Secret Treasure Orbs’ expands the lore of the world outside the forest, setting up potential future conflicts with international powers.
