Chapter 17 The Princess Becomes a Cursed Kill Magic Girl

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

”Your sister… the one you were talking about yesterday?”

 ”Yes.”

The people who had been banished to the Demon Forest with Cleonora were still living in the shallower parts of the woods. She didn’t seem too concerned about them.

Her sister, however, was a different matter. If things continued like this, she’d eventually be eliminated by their older sister, she worried.

”They’ll probably send her off to another country or perhaps assassinate her. If they actually make a move, it’ll be after they’re certain I’m dead, so there should be a little grace period¹… but…”

”So, either way, we can’t just leave things as they are, huh?” I sighed.

I understood. This was Cleonora’s personal request, and of course, I wanted to help her. But first, we’d struggle just to get out of this forest.

Even if we managed to escape, we’d have to travel all the way to the capital, infiltrate the castle, and somehow bring the princess out.

Considering the monumental effort of bringing her all the way back here to the forest safely, it felt impossible.

I was trying to figure out how to respond when Ami-chan gave a challenging, confident laugh.

”Fufufufu! Cleonora! The Magical Girl power you just gained! If you cultivate it, you’ll be able to rescue your sister all by yourself!” Ami-chan chirped.

 ”What?”

”First, let’s test it out! Go on, Cleonora! Transform into a Magical Girl!”

She gave the instruction incredibly naturally, but it was way too vague.

”Ami-chan. Cleonora doesn’t know how to transform, does she?”

”No, she does. The pact has been sealed. Cleonora, how about it? You know how to transform, right?”

”Oh… yes. Somehow, I understand exactly how to transform now,” Cleonora confirmed, sounding amazed by the intuitive knowledge.

Seriously? A Magical Girl is incredible. If that’s the case, I’ll just keep quiet and watch.

Cleonora took a deep breath, clasping her hands together over her chest as if in prayer. She closed her eyes and quietly inhaled.

”Eme-rald, Lal-d, Me-rald! Green jewel, grant me power!”

Particles of light began to dance around Cleonora. Her body slowly lifted off the ground, becoming completely enveloped in the sparkling motes.

There was a flash of green light shimmering at her chest. The sudden event shocked me, but even while I watched, Cleonora was rapidly changing.

POP! With a light, clear sound, the light particles clinging to her right hand burst away. And in their place, a different person’s hand appeared.

Similarly, the particles burst away from her left hand, and then her right and left feet, revealing smaller, childlike hands and feet that were distinctly not Cleonora’s.

 ”E-eh!?”

Changes were visible in the hair that had been tied up on top of her head. When the light particles covering that area exploded, side-tailed hair appeared.

The color was a pale green, nearly white. Colorful hair clips were attached to it.

Finally, when all the particles burst away, standing there was a slightly younger-looking girl. She looked nothing like Cleonora.

Light particles began to gather again around the girl’s naked body. They coalesced, transforming into clothing.

”This is it! The transformation scene is always the most important part, y’know!” Ami-chan cheered gleefully.

Before long, the Magical Girl was fully formed before my eyes.

Her outfit was a fluttering mini-skirt, complete with stockings and gloves that reached her elbows. The color scheme, like her hair, was primarily green and white.

This green-haired girl struck a graceful pose.

”A green healing for you! Magical Girl, Cursed Kill—Emerald!”

 ”That name’s a little ominous…!” I blurted out.

Cleonora had changed into a figure that bore absolutely none of her original features.

It really was amazing. Not just her face, but her entire physique, including her height and the size of her chest, had changed.

Emerald-chan landed on the ground and examined her hands and feet.

 ”This is…?”

”Fufufufu! This is my pride and joy—the Kill Magical Girl! Cleonora can now transform into Cursed Kill Emerald!” Ami-chan boasted.

 ”Isn’t Cursed Kill incredibly dangerous-sounding?”

”Oh, that’s just a codename, like a nickname. Whether she can actually curse and kill is a different story.”

Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of the name!? But wow, she’s so cute! The gap between her and Cleonora’s appearance is irresistible!

”Now, for the Class Granting! This will determine Cleonora—I mean, Emerald’s stats!”

”O-okay. I, the Dominator (the Quester), grant you a Class…!”

I performed the Class Granting as prompted. Her stats flashed before my eyes:

 [Class: Curse Maker (Kāsumeikā)]

 [Attribute: Curse (Noro)]

 [Weapon: Pretty Stick (Curse)]

 [Attack Power: Expect more soon]

 [Defense: A bit low]

 [Mobility: Seems good]

 [Magic Power: Amazing]

”She’s got stats that look ready for some serious Cursed Kill-ing…!”

Some of the stats being low is probably because she’ll grow from now on. There are a lot of details that catch my eye, though.

Seriously, what is the Pretty Stick (Curse)? It must be the staff Eme-chan is holding.

But it’s emitting a black mist, and it looks clearly made of bone. There’s zero “Pretty” in that description!

 ”How do you feel, Emerald?”

”Oh… yes. It’s incredible. I feel an immense Magic Power. And it seems I’m adept at abilities that weaken my target,” she observed.

 ”Huh!? Is that true!?”

”It is. I just know somehow… I can understand what kind of power I possess…”

If I’m not imagining things, Eme-chan’s voice sounds an octave higher than Cleonora’s. Since her body changed, did her vocal cords change, too?

”Also, Ami-chan. The Maids don’t get a Weapon when I grant them a Class, but the Magical Girl does?”

”You noticed? That’s right! When the Quester Level goes up, the Maids will start getting a Weapon when a Class is granted, too. But all Magical Girls start out with a Weapon in hand!” Ami-chan explained.

And apparently, the Weapon evolves as well. Magical Girls are amazing. They truly feel like they can do anything.

”When you talk about a Magical Girl, being able to fly is a given! So, after some training, Emerald will be able to fly around freely!”

”I see! In that case, I certainly can go to the capital to save my sister!” Emerald realized.

She also mentioned that with her current power, she felt like she could defeat the Lion Head Demon we saw before.

 ”What… that’s awesome!”

”This body truly holds power on that scale. Although, I do feel like my hands and feet have shrunk…” she admitted.

Ah… come to think of it, Eme-chan hasn’t seen her own reflection. Can I even create a mirror?

”So… Ami. How can I increase my power as a Magical Girl?” Emerald asked directly.

”Oh, she’s motivated! Very admirable. A Magical Girl gets stronger in two ways! One is the basic method: real-world combat!”

 ”That makes sense…”

”So, go hunt some demon monsters right away! Shou and I have lots of management stuff to do in the expanded Dominion,” Ami-chan instructed, already getting busy.

”Wait!? You’re making her go alone!?” I exclaimed.

She’d just been in danger yesterday! But Eme-chan shook her head, assuring me she wasn’t worried.

”No… I really think I can handle it. I can already do low-altitude flight, and if things go south, I can escape. Besides, I can deploy a barrier without chanting²… I may be worried about my Attack Power, but with this Mobility and barrier, I won’t be defeated easily.”

It seemed Eme-chan was confident. In the end, she went off to hunt demon monsters alone.

She took the longsword she’d been using and zipped away with low-altitude flight.

”Is she really going to be alright…”

”In that form, it’s going to be hard for anything to defeat her, so don’t worry!” Ami-chan assured me.

I headed back to the Great Phantasmal Soulstone chamber. The center of my Quester duties is definitely here.

”Now then. Let’s create a couple more Maids right away!” Ami-chan suggested.

 ”Two more? Are you sure?”

”If Emerald hunts enough demon monsters, you’ll get enough Resource Points to sustain three Maids, right?”

It seemed she was completely counting on Eme-chan now.

I manipulated the interface to quickly clear an area that could be converted into flat ground. Aion-san was currently hard at work felling trees within the expanded Dominion.

”Alright. Let’s manifest two Maids, then.”

”Yes! Then, I’ll adjust the settings like this… Okay! Come on out!”

Two new Maids were manifested. They were as expressionless as ever. With their well-sculpted faces, they looked incredibly cool and detached.

”Let’s call this one Carina and this one Scara! Now, Shou! Class Granting!”

”Got it. I, the Dominator (the Quester), grant you a Class.”

Just like with Eme-chan, their statuses appeared before my eyes:

 ・Carina

 [Class: Patrol (Patorōru)]

 [Attribute: Earth (Tsuchi)]

 [Weapon: None]

 [Attack Power: Low]

 [Defense: Low]

 [Mobility: Slightly Low]

 [Magic Power: Low]

 ・Scara

 [Class: Fighter (Faitā)]

 [Attribute: Earth (Tsuchi)]

 [Weapon: None]

 [Attack Power: Decent]

 [Defense: Low]

 [Mobility: Decent]

 [Magic Power: Low]

Ami-chan immediately started giving instructions to the two new arrivals. I spoke up to confirm something that bothered me.

”Hey, Ami-chan. Including Aion-san, all three of them have the Earth Attribute…”

”Well, about that. The probability of Earth, Water, Fire, or Wind manifesting is around 80% in general.”

 ”Seriously?”

”If you consume more Ego Points to create high-performance Maids, the Attribute manifestation rate changes, but low-spec creations tend to default to the inferior version of Earth… the Earth Attribute just shows up easily, y’know?” Ami-chan explained, sounding bored.

The gacha element extends even to this… and Earth is the inferior version of Ground?

”For now, let’s focus on helping Emerald train, and once we have enough Ego Points, maybe we should go to Japan!”

 ”To Japan?”

”I told you earlier, didn’t I? Let’s try planting seeds from the other world over here!”

That’s right… she did mention that. Besides, I haven’t been back in over two weeks, so it might be a good idea to check on things before anything weird happens.

”We still don’t have enough Ego Points?”

”We earned a good bit yesterday, but I always want a huge surplus. The ways to use them are only going to keep increasing, I bet.”

That phrasing is certainly unsettling. But for now, I have a clear plan for earning Ego Points. I should be fine.

We continued managing the Dominion, with Ami-chan giving various instructions to the three Maids.

Eme-chan finally returned as the sun was beginning to set.

”You… you defeated a demon monster!?” I asked, astonished.

”Yes. It was a snake-type demon monster… a Myrmis. It’s a pretty troublesome one, but I managed to weaken it and then finished it off with my sword.”

After hearing her report, Ami-chan immediately ordered the Maids to retrieve the demon monster’s corpse. Amazing. The hunt was going smoothly.

”I’m still getting used to the Magical Girl’s power, but I’m convinced. This power is on a completely different dimension from conventional Sorcerers!” Emerald stated with new confidence.

Well, just from the names alone, it sounds like the nature of the power is completely different between a Magical Girl and a Sorcerer.

We continued our conversation over dinner.

”That reminds me. Ami, can you tell me about the second way to increase a Magical Girl’s power?” I requested.

”Sure thing! But first, let’s explain Ego Points to Emerald!” Ami-chan suggested.

I realized we had told Eme-chan about the Quester and Resource Points, but we hadn’t explained Ego Points.

Considering she’s bringing it up now, it must have a direct connection to the Magical Girl.

 Summary:

The political stakes rise as Cleonora requests a dangerous sister rescue mission. The solution is her new form, Cursed Kill—Emerald, whose transformation is vividly detailed, showing a radical physical change and the acquisition of a dark, bone-like weapon, the Pretty Stick (Curse). Emerald is immediately powerful and sent on a solo demon hunt to farm Resource Points and train her Curse Maker class.

Meanwhile, Shouichi expands the Dominion by creating two new Maids (Carina and Scara), revealing the system’s gacha element: low-spec creations default to the inferior Earth Attribute. Emerald successfully defeats a powerful Myrmis demon, proving the Magical Girl’s power is truly on another level. The chapter sets up the next major system reveal and the plan to travel back to Japan for resource farming.

 —

 Character Insight:

Cleonora/Emerald transitions from a politically vulnerable princess to a confident, powerful agent of action who embraces her dangerous role. Her physical change and intuitive understanding of her new, high-level power highlight her natural aptitude for combat, despite her smaller form. Shouichi quickly adopts his role as a logistics manager and resource farmer, recognizing the Magical Girl as his main combat engine while accepting the frustrating ‘gacha’ limits of the Maid creation system. Ami-chan confirms her role as the playful, system-manipulating facilitator who treats all system actions—from transformation to resource farming—as a game.

 —

 Behind the Scene:

This chapter is crucial for establishing the power curve of the Magical Girl and the Dominion Management loop. By sending Emerald on a solo mission that she successfully completes (defeating a Myrmis), the narrative validates her power as far exceeding local norms, justifying the ‘Magical Girl’ trope. The creation of Earth Attribute Maids highlights the need for the Quester to invest more deeply (more Ego Points) to get better results, reinforcing the core progression loop. The mention of going to Japan is the next narrative hook, introducing a temporary break and a new type of resource farming.

 T/L:

¹ Grace Period: The term Yūyo (猶予) means ‘time granted’ or ‘postponement.’ Cleonora is calculating that her sister’s enemies won’t move until they are certain she is dead.

² Without Chanting: The Japanese term Mu-Eishou (無詠唱) is a classic fantasy term meaning ‘Instant Cast’ or ‘Chantless.’ It indicates a very high level of magical skill or innate power.

Notes:

• Cleonora – The second princess. Have a yellow blonde hair. Usually styled as hairbun.

• Ami – A palm-sized fairy-like being from a world separate from both Earth and the isekai realm. She has light blue hair tied in a ponytail, mischievous blue eyes, and tiny wings that flutter behind her. Her outfit consists of a provocative high-cut leotard and a short jacket that looks like a miniskirt from the back, leaving her legs bare. Despite her playful appearance, she is actively searching for a contractor who can protect her from dangerous pursuers in exchange for the powers she offers.

• Emerald – Magical Girl version of Cleonora. Smaller, side-tailed, green-and-white mini-skirted girl.

• Aion – The maid golem. She has chestnut-brown hair and and a well-featured, but utterly expressionless, face. Looks like Karakuri from certain series.
