Chapter 55 New Seeds for the Domain꞉ The Taste of Earth
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
The table was covered with the little treasures I’d brought back from Japan. I pulled out a ballpoint pen, some paper, and a penlight (none of it converted to Resource Points yet). Liliarette, her silver hair catching the light, was staring at everything like she’d never seen civilization before. She was trying so hard to stay dignified, but her eyes were practically sparkling.
”No need to dip it in ink, and it never splatters… and this paper is so smooth it’s almost sinful to write on…” she whispered, turning the plastic pen over in her delicate fingers. Then she picked up the penlight. “But this… this is the true miracle.”
”That’s the penlight,” I explained, watching her closely. “It runs on batteries, but just like this it can make light.” The lamps we had around the house looked like light bulbs, sure, but they were fixed in place, couldn’t be dimmed, and worst of all, they guzzled Resource Points the whole time they were on. We’d only installed the absolute minimum.
”The penlight’s completely portable, though. The light’s weak and it’ll die when the battery does, but it’s so damn convenient.”
”Oh, I didn’t bring it this time, but in my world we even have liquid sugar,” I added casually.
”L-Liquid… sugar…!?” Liliarette’s eyes went wide, just a little.
”Yeah. It’s clear, so you can mix it into cold drinks super easily.”
She went completely silent after that, staring into space like she was doing higher-dimensional math in her head. After a long moment, something clicked behind those violet eyes.
”Shimizu-san,” she began, suddenly deadly serious and formal again. “Allow me to confirm. You intend to develop this domain as a Dominator/Quester. The core of that plan is Resource Points, and you are constantly seeking materials with higher conversion efficiency. Ultimately, you wish to sell the goods you produce to outside towns, earn money, and use that money to purchase even better materials… That is the outline of your strategy, correct?”
”Exactly,” I nodded.
”And the Quester’s growth is tied directly to the Magic Girl’s growth, so leveling you up is super important for beating the bad guys chasing me!” Cleonora piped up, practically bouncing in her seat.
I hadn’t told Liliarette about the Great Phantasmal Soulstone itself, but I had explained our whole situation the day she became a Magic Girl. Cleonora had definitely thrown in her own loud, dramatic commentary too. Besides—if I could actually make money out there, I could buy better clothes, better tools, better everything. The selection here was still pathetic.
”Lilia, what’s on your mind?” I asked.
”…Please grant me a little time to organize my thoughts,” she said, voice carefully measured.
I had no idea what was spinning in that princess brain of hers, but it probably wasn’t anything bad for me or Cleonora. Good enough.
”In that case, I’m gonna go all out and make a proper lunch. It’ll take a while, so just wait for me, okay?”
”You sure you don’t need help?” Cleonora offered, eyes shining.
”I’ve got it.”
I left the house and headed straight for the cooking shed I’d built right next door. No way was I trying to use Japan ingredients in the main house yet. The second I stepped inside, I checked everything over.
Stove, knife, pots… yeah, all good.
”Shou, you can actually cook stuff that isn’t just grilled?” Cleonora teased from the doorway.
”Mostly just grilling or boiling, yeah. That’s basically all cooking is, right?” I shot back. Back in Japan it had been pan-fried bean sprouts and instant noodles with whatever sauce was on sale, but I’d watched enough meat recipe videos to fake it. Never had money for fancy ingredients, though.
”Meat for lunch, pasta for dinner,” I decided.
”Finally! Real food in this world!” Cleonora cheered.
”It’s only possible because I can bring stuff from Japan…” I muttered.
Thanks to my higher Quester level, the meat I could create now was a little better quality. Still had no idea what animal it came from, but it was the same familiar taste that had kept me alive since day one of this isekai nightmare. I sliced it carefully, simmered it in Mentsuyue¹ with a little dissolved Shou-ginger² and potato starch to thicken the sauce, cooked rice in the pot, and sprinkled some furikake on top.

When it was ready, I set everything on the outdoor table and called them over. Cleonora carried Liliarette out and settled her into a chair.
”Wow! It smells amazing! Shouichi, what is it?” Cleonora asked, nose practically twitching.
”Just the usual meat, but I cut it up and simmered it in Mentsuyu,” I explained.
”Mentsuyu! I licked some earlier, didn’t I?” Liliarette said, eyes bright again.
”Yep. Added a bit of Shou-ginger as a secret kick.”
Spoons and forks ready—time to eat.
”Mmm…!” Cleonora was already shoveling it in.
”This is…” Liliarette took a delicate bite, then paused.
”S-so… how is it…?” I asked, suddenly nervous. To me it was the best thing I’d eaten in forever, but would it suit otherworldly taste buds?
”It’s delicious!” Cleonora declared instantly.
”The meat is perfectly tender… the flavor has soaked in so deeply. And this seasoning…” Liliarette closed her eyes, savoring it.
”I’ve never tasted anything like this even in the castle!” Cleonora added.
Thank god.
”I could eat this every day…!” Cleonora said between mouthfuls.
”I want to expand our menu. I brought all kinds of seedlings, so we’ll have more ingredients soon. I’ll make something different tonight,” I promised. If I could get eggs… cheese… man, the possibilities.
Once they were both stuffed and happy, it was time to get to work.
I headed to the provisional farm plot to start planting. Cleonora ran off to hunt demon monsters, and Liliarette was still deep in thought (ready to transform if anything slipped into the domain).
”Alright… let’s see what ‘Land of Blessing’ can really do,” I muttered to myself.
I wasn’t planting everything yet. First I had to test: would these Earth crops even grow here? How fast? Would they go weird? Only after watching the first batch would I prep the real farm.
Lettuce, corn, apples, grapes, eggplant, cucumber, carrots… please work.
I’d frantically googled planting guides right before coming back, but Ami-chan had just laughed and said, “You’ve got Land of Blessing, just shove them in the dirt.”
So that’s what I did.
The rest of the seedlings I’d plant outside the blessing zone for comparison, then transplant the successful ones later.
All that was left was to have the maids water them regularly and observe.

Summary:
Shouichi wowed his companions with a glorious lunch of simmered meat and Earth rice, a true luxury. The meal fueled his next big project: testing his Land of Blessing skill by planting a variety of modern seedlings. This move is crucial, as the new crops will become a steady flow of Resource Points, finally giving the domain some much-needed long-term stability.
—
Character Insight:
Liliarette’s intense curiosity about Earth objects quickly pivoted into strategic calculation, showing her value as a brilliant advisor focused on Resource Point management. Shouichi’s nervousness about the cooking, even though he was making something simple, highlights his constant self-doubt about pleasing the girls and his dedication to their comfort.
—
Behind the Scene:
This chapter establishes the critical shift from simply acquiring resources to growing them, a major step in the Quester’s domain development. The modern tools (penlight, liquid sugar) are not just interesting items; they are a clear benchmark of Earth’s technological advantage over this fantasy world, reinforcing Shouichi’s unique power.
—
T/L:
The meat Shouichi is making is likely a simple nikujaga (meat and potato stew) but adapted to just meat and rice, a comfort food often made with Mentsuyu (a concentrated noodle soup base) ¹, here used as a savory sauce.
The Shou-ginger is a pun on his name, referencing shōga (ginger). ²
Notes:
• Liliarette – The other Princess, who sacrificed her ability to walk and her sorcery talent to save her sister, Cleonora. She is imprisoned in the East Tower and is being used as a political and monetary pawn by Viorga. • Cleonora – The second princess. Have a yellow blonde hair. Usually styled as hairbun.
• Ami – A palm-sized fairy-like being from a world separate from both Earth and the isekai realm. She has light blue hair tied in a ponytail, mischievous blue eyes, and tiny wings that flutter behind her. Her outfit consists of a provocative high-cut leotard and a short jacket that looks like a miniskirt from the back, leaving her legs bare. Despite her playful appearance, she is actively searching for a contractor who can protect her from dangerous pursuers in exchange for the powers she offers.
