Chapter 6 Frontier Settlement Day One

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

At last, the path ahead felt clear. The immediate goals were Dominion expansion and the scouting of Magical Girls. How to accomplish that, the actual methods—well, I had to figure that out as we went along.

”But first, let’s collect those Resource Points and get the land leveled! Come on, Shou! We’re heading outside!” Ami-chan declared, her tone bright and demanding.

”Alright!” I cheered, my motivation suddenly sky-high.

Ami-chan and I stepped onto the surface. I started dedicating every stray rock and fallen tree branch I could find as a Resource Point offering. I even sacrificed the iron room that had served as my transport here, rendering it back into its base elements.

”Hmph… I knew it, but the efficiency is just terrible,” Ami-chan sighed, a sound of sheer frustration.

”What am I supposed to do, huh?!” I groaned, throwing my hands up. “I can’t hunt any Demon Monsters, and it’s not like I’ve got tools to chop down a tree or anything!”

Naturally, a twig or a pebble only gave us a pitiful amount of points. Ami-chan, accepting the inevitable, let out another forced exhale.

”Let’s just manifest one Maid,” she stated.

”W-Wait. But those Maid Golems cost Resource Points just to maintain, right?” I questioned, suddenly cautious.

”We’ll be fine, so long as we don’t make her too powerful. So, I’m gonna use a bit of Shou’s Ego Point now to make the summoning happen~”

It seemed the Maid’s creation was her job. Ami-chan deftly swiped her finger across the translucent operation window that had shimmered into existence before her.

 ”[MANIFESTATION: COMPLETE]!”

Right beside us, a Maid materialized. She had short, chestnut-brown hair and a well-featured, but utterly expressionless, face.

”Uh, well… hello there,” I greeted her awkwardly.

”She won’t talk much. Her self-awareness is practically nonexistent. They’re just consumable tools to be discarded once they’ve served their purpose—they only follow orders, that’s all they are,” Ami-chan explained flatly.

”Oh… is that right?” I mused. I suppose creating something that’s an actual, fully-fledged living being out of thin air would be the weirder outcome. Ami-chan likened them to Golems or Homunculi; they required neither sleep nor food. Their function was maintained solely by the consumption of Resource Points.

”Her name will be… Aion! Go on, Shou. Give her a Class~”

”Ah, right… Uh, ‘I, Dominator , do bestow upon thee this Class…’”

Aion’s¹ body glowed with a sudden, silent whoosh of light. Immediately, her Status panel became visible for me to check.

 [CLASS: Axe Knight (斧騎将)]

 [Attribute: Earth]

 [Weapon: None]

 [Attack Power: Decent]

 [Defense: Low]

 [Mobility: Somewhat Low]

 [Magic Power: Low]

”Huh… Axe Knight? The Class name sounds strong, though…” I trailed off.

”Ooooh! That’s not bad at all! Axe Knights are surprisingly proficient with horses, too!” Ami-chan enthused.

”I see,” I replied, still a bit lost.

I realized I could check the Status of any Class-bestowed subject just by focusing my mind’s eye on them.

”Wait, though. ‘Attack Power: Decent’? Isn’t there a better way to phrase that?” I complained.

”As your Quester Level increases, the descriptions will become more detailed. Eventually, they’ll be displayed as actual numerical values,” Ami-chan instructed.

Apparently, as my Dominator Level rose, I’d also be able to manifest things with their Weapon already equipped. Being a Level 1 Dominator definitely had its limitations.

”From now on, Aion’s gonna help us gather resources! Let’s head back to the Great Phantasmal Soulstone Room for a moment!”

 ”Huh? Why?” I asked.

”We have to give Aion some tools! Since you just dedicated that iron material as a resource, we should be able to craft some slightly better iron products now, don’t you think?”

Clack-clack-clack, we walked down the stairs back into the underground room. I learned that as my Quester Level increased, I’d eventually be able to teleportation directly to the Soulstone Room from anywhere inside the Dominion. It was probably one of the Dominator Skills that hadn’t been listed earlier.

I touched the Great Phantasmal Soulstone to check the list of creatable tools. Just as Ami-chan had said, a few iron products had been added.

”Whoa… there are even knives now,” I observed.

”Perfect! Let’s make a knife and an axe! Aion should wield the axe,” she directed.

I crafted the items as instructed. The axe had a wooden handle, which suggested that crafting a fully-iron version would require dedicating more iron resources.

 ”Here, Aion.”

”Aion. Chop down the surrounding trees,” Ami-chan commanded.

Taking her orders, Aion immediately began felling the trees. She worked quickly and efficiently, even on thick trunks, displaying none of my own human fatigue.

”Amazing… I’d be totally exhausted and couldn’t move like that… But, are we gonna be okay if a Demon Monster shows up?” I worried.

”That’s our main worry. Even Aion would struggle against that last one, so we’d just have to retreat to the Great Phantasmal Soulstone Room,” Ami-chan admitted.

It seemed the Demon Monster threat was the primary bottleneck. Stronger Maids cost a fortune to maintain, and constantly creating and discarding them would be a waste of Ego Points, she explained.

”Oh, also, listen up. You can only dedicate things as Resource Points if they are inside the Dominion,” Ami-chan clarified.

 ”Huh? Does that mean…”

”It means we can’t interfere with anything outside the Dominion.”

If I found some iron material, I’d have to carry it all the way back into the Dominion first. It made sense; otherwise, I could just stroll into the nearest town and dedicate everything I saw as a resource.

Also, if we sacrificed an item that was created using Resource Points, we’d only get back about 20% of the original cost. It was like buying something for a hundred bucks and only selling it back for twenty. Talk about a raw deal.

”So many rules, man…” I muttered.

”The Quester’s power is linked to the size of the Dominion. Eventually, you could become a near-omnipotent being within its boundaries… a Class with limitless possibility, that’s what you have!” Ami-chan exclaimed, her eyes gleaming with potential.

As we chatted, we continuously dedicated the lumber Aion had cut as resources. By the time the sun began to set, the surrounding area had been completely stripped of trees.

 ”Wow… Even for a maid that doesn’t get tired, that’s a ton of wood…” I marveled.

”Alright! With all this wood, we can build a bunch of stuff! It’s getting dark, so let’s level the land and build a House right now!” she urged.

 ”A House…?”

We returned to the Great Phantasmal Soulstone Room and opened the creation window. The available list had been massively updated.

 ”Whoa… that’s a lot of things,” I whispered.

”Before checking that, we must level the land. Shou, clear the surrounding area.”

 ”O-Okay.”

I followed her instructions and used the window to flatten the land near the stairs leading up to the surface. It seemed the fewer trees and obstacles there were, the less Resource Point it consumed to clear the land.

 ”Is it all cleared now…?”

The image on the screen showed a perfectly flat surface. I figured that’s exactly how it would look outside.

”Now, let’s place the house there.”

I checked the window and saw that a Simple Shack was selectable. Tapping it brought up a screen that let me adjust the placement and size.

I could place it anywhere on the cleared land. By reducing the size, I could also reduce the Resource Point cost. I decided on a small shack, about six tatami mats wide², and set it down. Once outside, the shack should be standing right next to the stairs.

”Now, tap on the shack you just placed.”

 ”Ah,” I did.

The screen immediately showed the interior. The floor was properly made of wood. Amazing.

”You can place all sorts of things inside the shack now. Check it out.”

 ”Whoa… you’re right.”

It cost a decent amount of Resource Points, but I could place a simple bed. And lighting, too. I quickly arranged the narrow shack with a bed, a table, and a water jug. At least we wouldn’t have to worry about drinking water.

”I can’t believe we can even create water…” I marveled.

”You dedicated a Demon Monster. We might even have some simple meat now,” Ami-chan mused.

 ”Let’s check… Hey! You’re right! There’s Raw Meat (Quality D)!”

She explained that the more meat and vegetables we dedicated, the more food items would become creatable, though we’d still have to cook them ourselves. The fact that Resource Points could cover all our basic needs—food, clothing, and shelter—was incredible.

”And finally, the fence! We should properly enclose the shack!”

 ”Got it.”

There were fences ranging from low to quite tall, all made of wood. I created one of a decent height and enclosed the shack. Outside the fence, I set up a simple table and chairs, and a bonfire to cook the meat.

 ”I guess that’s about it?”

”Yes. Let’s go outside and check it out!”

I trudged up the stairs to the surface. I must have gone up and down a dozen times today; my feet were starting to ache.

 ”Whoa…! Incredible!”

Outside, the scene matched the screen perfectly: the low shack, the sturdy wooden fence, the table, chairs, and the crackling bonfire.

Inside the shack, the bed, the water-filled jug, and the lamp were all in place. Leaving Aion on watch, I used my knife to cut some of the mysterious Raw Meat, skewered it onto a branch, and held it over the fire. Taking a big bite, I closed my eyes.

”Oh, man…! It’s so good! No salt, no seasoning, nothing—and it’s still amazing!” I exclaimed.

”Ewwwww… it tastes awful! The texture is gross, and it smells like a wet animal…” Ami-chan grimaced, her opinion the complete opposite of mine.

But for a guy used to a life of eating cheap bean sprouts, having this kind of meat was a huge blessing.

The one thing I couldn’t create yet was a toilet. I suppose for now, I’d just have to venture outside.

And so, the first day of my Isekai life—a day filled with far too many surprising events since the morning—came to an end.

 —

 Summary:

The ambitious start to Shou’s Dominion life faces a hurdle: resource scarcity. To overcome this, the first Maid Golem, Aion, is manifested using Ego Points and equipped with a crafted axe. The group then sets about clear-cutting the forest to amass huge amounts of Resource Points. With these new points, Shou executes a major frontier development project, creating a cleared patch of land, building a small wooden shack with furnishings, and setting up a protective fence and a bonfire. The day ends with a test of the newly-created Raw Meat—a disgusting meal for Ami-chan, but a fantastic feast for Shou, signaling the end of the first, hectic day of their Isekai settlement project.

 —

 Character Insight:

Shou’s transition from a regular guy to a Dominator is visibly shaping his perception of the new world. While Ami-chan finds the low-quality Raw Meat repulsive, Shou’s history of poverty makes the unseasoned meat a delicious and meaningful symbol of the security his new power provides. His enthusiasm and willingness to learn show a strong potential for growth as a Quester and Frontier Lord, even if he is still naive about the world’s complexities.

 —

 Behind the Scene:

The Dominator System is slowly revealing its rules and limitations. The realization that Demon Monsters are the primary threat and that the Dominion’s power is tied to its boundaries means that aggressive expansion is risky and resource management must be cautious. The creation of the Maid Golem Aion marks a turning point, automating the mundane work of resource collection and saving Shou’s energy for future adventure.

 —

 T/L:

1 The Maid Golem Aion is the first automated resource collector, manifesting as an Axe Knight.

2 Tatami mats are traditional Japanese flooring panels and a common unit for measuring room size. Each mat typically covers about 1.62 m² (approximately 17.4 ft²).

Notes:

• Ami – A palm-sized fairy-like being from a world separate from both Earth and the isekai realm. She has light blue hair tied in a ponytail, mischievous blue eyes, and tiny wings that flutter behind her. Her outfit consists of a provocative high-cut leotard and a short jacket that looks like a miniskirt from the back, leaving her legs bare. Despite her playful appearance, she is actively searching for a contractor who can protect her from dangerous pursuers in exchange for the powers she offers.

• Aion – The maid golem. She has chestnut-brown hair and and a well-featured, but utterly expressionless, face. Looks like Karakuri from certain series.
